I'm not loving pregnancy so far .... Hope the second half is less stressful and more enjoyable!

Afreshstartplease · 28/05/2016 20:50

If I remember rightly the second half feels like a life time of waiting

Positive tonight me

Northernlight22 · 29/05/2016 08:42

Lol, I'm just pleased that my anxiety has subsided a bit and given me a bit of temporary relief post 20 week scan. I've been so low and anxious since finding out I was pregnant that it's nice to have feelings of excitement for once!

IrisPurple1 · 29/05/2016 11:43

Taffeta is there any chance you could get advice from your midwife about the level of risk? Can you leave it till the last minute to decide what to do? There's been nothing on the TV news yet about Zika in Europe but it doesn't stop you worrying!
Fresh I hope you enjoy your holiday and get some good weather. We had only 4/9 days of Spanish sunshine on our last child-free holiday!

The osteopath I shelled out to see never got back to me with the list of support belts she was going to recommend me for my SPD so my husband went out and bought me one (I was unable to walk round town - he even had to buy my friend's birthday present for me!). I've felt better this weekend and it's more ache and twinges rather than shooting pain. Not sure if it's the belt or because I've slowed down a lot. Are you other ladies with SPD normally used to rushing round a lot? Havetobecrazy are you worse today after busy day yesterday?

Schnitzel 18 weeks doesn't seem to be too early these days - there's us on here plus I know of 2 people in RL who started with SPD around 16-20 weeks. But my boss said the same thing - 'you're too early for back pain' - as if I'm making it up or something. I've had no sympathy at all at work, I don't think people have even noticed even though I gasp every time I move. They're just annoyed at me taking time for appointments and not being able to make them drinks.

I sympathise with all of you saying they're not enjoying the second half of pregnancy. My 1st Tri was a breeze, but the second I've struggled both physically and mentally. I'm getting better though, and enjoying the experience overall. It's still so exciting, especially the first.

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 29/05/2016 12:03

I know it isn't too early for SPD, but at least the midwife did a referral for physio, even if she was fairly dismissive. I think it's come on early largely because of how big DS is - he's 23 months old tomorrow, and weighs 2 stone 5 - while he walks well he still wants to be picked up quite a lot, and he's really heavy to carry for any distance! I hope the physio doesn't take too long - I have a support belt from last time but can't wear it because it aggravates my eczema, and I think the itching and rash is worse than the hip and pelvic pain. I hope the physio can suggest some alternatives.

Sorry to hear so many of us are struggling with SPD - it really sucks and it makes life quite difficult. At least I have this week off, and my job is mostly desk based so I think I'll be able to stay until about 35/36 weeks. I only had 5 days off before DS was born - I'm hoping for a bit longer this time!

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 29/05/2016 18:13

Iris - I went to see my doctor and he said that it was up to me, but they don't really know the risks yet. His exact words were - 'it depends on your attitude to risk' Hmm.

I think I've decided not to go but that's mainly because I'm anxious at the best of times and feel that I will just end up making everyone else's holiday hell with my worrying. I shall make the most of it and spend the week nesting and sitting around watching Netflix!

EnoughAlready999 · 30/05/2016 15:09

I've felt quite down for most of the pregnancy so far. Usually I'm quite up and down, possibly bipolar but not diagnosed. But I don't feel like I've had many happy or 'up' periods in the last few months. Hope its not antenatal depression.

I keep meaning to go for a swim or walk or exercise class but just can't be bothered. My daughter must think I'm a right misery.

Tallblue · 30/05/2016 17:24

Taffeta a week of relaxing and watching Netflix sounds lovely.... Every cloud!

Had 20 week scan today and thankfully all looking ok (no bank holiday today where I live, overseas). But, same as at my last check up 4 weeks ago, leucocytes + in urine. I had been wondering if I had a UTI the last few weeks and mentioned this to midwife. But as the leucocyte levels so low I was again told just to drink plenty of water. Not sure if I'd get the same advice if in the UK? Has anybody had similar experience with leucocytes in urine but no treatment?

IrisPurple1 · 30/05/2016 18:42

How is everyone today? The good weather is a blessing isn't it?

I think I overdid it yesterday by walking into town. I took it slow but was on my feet for nearly 2 hours. I was absolutely exhausted the afternoon and had to cancel visiting a friend.

Havetobecrazy did you say you were a child minder? That must be really tough. Kids don't understand that they need to be careful with you! Then again, I work in an office with a lift, but I have 3 fire doors to negotiate every time to go to the loo - people hold them open but then let go as I'm halfway through.

What have people found to do that helps? Is a walking stick helpful? Have you adapted your routines? If I don't do too much then the pain goes away, but it's a big change for someone so used to zooming around all the time - although I've felt less stressed as a result of being given forced to slow down!
Are you eating any differently to compensate for not doing very much exercise? I do worry about getting unfit / fat so I'm eating fewer empty calories.

What a shame you've had to cancel your holiday Taffeta. I hope you feel better for having come to a decision. Hopefully the weather will be good enough for you to sit outside some of the time and relax.

Enough Already I'm sorry you're feeling down. Is it anything in particular? Have you mentioned it to your midwife?

Congratulations on your scan Tallblue!

Northernlight22 · 30/05/2016 21:28

Anyone else with an anterior placenta? Haven't felt any movement yet although scan was all good and wondering if anyone else is in this boat!

thistlescot · 30/05/2016 22:24

Yes me Northern, I've got anterior placenta had my 20 week scan on Thursday - we're having a boy! And he did not stop moving, but I couldn't feel a thing! There were arms and legs going everywhere and he was twisting and turning the whole time but I couldn't feel it!

I've felt a few things over the weekend but because it's so quick and faint it's hard to catch it, I can't wait until I feel proper kicks! I'm 21 weeks tomorrow

TeaGirl3 · 31/05/2016 06:50

Morning everyone! Hope you all had a good bank holiday. I'm now 20+1 and have our 20 week scan today, which I can't wait for! I know this one is meant to be longer than the 12 week scan, but can anyone tell me how long theirs was? My appointment is at 4pm and I'm hoping I won't need to go back to work if it finishes earlier than I'm expecting! Thanks!

obsessedlex · 31/05/2016 06:54

Hi - mine was Friday and lasted about 45 mins because bubba was in a difficult position but moved in the end.
Good luck - it's amazing to see all the structures and organs Smile
We had a lovely clear pic of her leg!

October 2016 (thread number four). Entering the second trimester.
IrisPurple1 · 31/05/2016 07:06

Congrats on the scans everyone!
I'm 20+3 and I still don't think I've felt anything although it's hard to tell. I thought I felt something stroke upwards once over a week ago but nothing since, so could have been an itch or stomach rumble

I'm not sure if it is due to my placenta as the heartbeat was picked up straight away at my 16w appt. Could the placenta have moved since then?

All the slots were booked up today so I have to wait til tomorrow for my scan. I literally can't wait. I really hope to find out the sex and I'm hoping for reassurance that our baby is still moving in there.

I doubt you'll have chance to go back to work Teagirl, you may have a wait before you go in as well. Good luck!

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 31/05/2016 09:10

Morning. I've got an anterior placenta as well. Finding it really weird as I have been feeling a bit of movement but it's so faint I wouldn't know it was baby if I hadn't done this so many times before.
Yes Iris I am a childminder but it's mainly my kids that keep jumping all over me, we haven't told them yet and they haven't noticed!
My nesting hormones kicked in over the weekend so have gone mad decluttering, I've never been much good at the housework stuff.
Being motivated by the prospect of starting our loft conversion soon and having to move stuff around for that.
My scan was half an hour late and lasted about 40 mins, still thinking I might book a quick gender scan next week so I can find out, will be 22wks by then.

yorkiebilb · 31/05/2016 13:18

Afternoon all. Was wondering if I could join? I've got a DS who is 18 months conceived after IVF. Currently 22+2 expecting DS2 using clomid after a failed IVF in Oct! Due 2nd Oct. Have had 20 weeks of morning sickness but it seems to be finally going - thank god!

Congrats everyone else on your pregnancies and good luck for those waiting for their 20 week scans x

Figgygal · 31/05/2016 13:23

another one with an anterior placenta here am 22 weeks today and not felt anything it is actually making me feel detached from this pregnancy. I have another scan on Friday to get the heart view they couldn't get at 20 week scan so that will be nice to have some reassurance.

I also haven't bought anything yet as we still hoping to move house in next month or so and so don't want to buy things which we will then have to move again. I don't think that is helping, add the stress of housemoving stressful job at moment I just don't feel all warm and fuzzy about being pg.

LisaTheSimpson · 31/05/2016 14:41

Figgy - I feel the same as you.

No movement yet (22+1, anterior placenta), and I don't really feel attached or bonded yet. I certainly want this baby and I'm looking forward to it, but I don't feel any connection or warmth/fuzziness, as you say.

Really hoping I start feeling something soon...

Fraggleface · 31/05/2016 16:00

Hi all. Had my 2nd anomaly scan this morning to get the heart measurements which they couldn't get last time. She's referred us to the specialist at the main hospital with suspected fluid around the heart. She said she wasn't sure about it (she mentioned she wasn't as experienced as some) and so it would be best to refer. I think it's only a small amount (under 2mm) and I'm trying not to worry. Has anyone else had any experience of this?

Northernlight22 · 31/05/2016 16:08

Glad it's not just me - 20 week scan showed loads of movement but nothing yet!

TeaGirl3 · 31/05/2016 22:40

We had our 20 week scan today, which all went well! Lots of wriggling, which my DH has finally seen too, which is so lovely. Now we'll start to seriously look at buying things!

LisaTheSimpson · 31/05/2016 22:45

Congrats Teagirl! Glad it all went well!

BlueberryMuffin85 · 01/06/2016 08:28

Glad to see scans all going well. I had mine yesterday too and was lovely to see baby wriggling around. I had to roll around quite a bit in order for them to get all the measurements they needed as baby kept chasing away. We didn't want to know the gender and before the scan I was worried I might see something to give it away but there was no telling as baby was wriggling so much and had either legs crossed or in the air!
Now looking forward to planning a shopping trip GrinGrin

clank2 · 01/06/2016 12:22

This pregnancy sucks. I ended up in hospital on Monday night. Nearly 2 weeks of diarrhoea left me dehydrated. Felt terrible all day, went to go to out of hours and almost passed out twice just from walking a few metres. Doc saw a very shaky upset and confused me (couldnt even get my words out) and saw i had ketones in urine so sent me in to get a drip set up. Baby is fine, Im still not fine. In a lot of pain and doctors have suggested maybe my appendix is the problem. They've told me to go in if in anymore pain, I decided to work today, and true to form am in a lot of pain but just dont know whether to go in or not, as by the sounds of it they will remove my appendix whether they know for certain or not. Just not knowing what to do for the best, and feeling bloody fed up of feeling like crap. :(

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 01/06/2016 12:32

Clank sorry to hear your feeling so bad. If you're in pain though it might be better to go back to the hospital. I had my appendix out last year - the surgery was fine, and within a week or so was much better. I think after about 6 weeks the wounds had healed and I was back to normal. Probably would have been quicker but they forgot to give me antibiotics when I was discharged and the wound got infected. Hope you're better soon.

Glad to hear all the happy scan news. Mine is a week today - feels like I've been waiting forever!
