Hi everyone mind if I join you? Am 19+5 with first DC and my anomaly scan is tomorrow.
Bit anxious as work have been less than supportive so stress levels are really high, so much so I've been signed off work for the week, and not having felt any movements yet, I am a bit on edge.
Anyone else in a similar situation ?

Fraggleface · 18/05/2016 17:47

Welcome angrybird and Sara.
Angrybird, my work are bastards too so I can sympathise. Also got my anomaly scan on Friday. Fingers crossed all round Smile

Gigglebert · 18/05/2016 18:29

Hi angrybird... Good luck with your scan tomorrow! Think we have the same due date but I have to wait until next Thursday for my scan! Getting so impatient though am feeling occasional movements which have helped with my stress levels a bit.

Angrybird234 · 18/05/2016 18:59

Thanks fraggle and gigglebert.

Why do employers have to be so bloody awkward? A friend sent me an article earlier saying that pregnancy-related discrimination is on the rise. I don't want special treatment, I just want my employer to be reasonable- demanding I do 4-6 hours a day every day of driving and do appointments plus pointless shitty administration AND partially cover a vacant area isn't reasonable... Roll on mat leave!

Good luck to you both for your scans 😊 When's your due date giggle? Mine is the 7th.

FuzzyOwl · 18/05/2016 19:32

Hi Sara and Angrybird.

Hope all the scans for this week go well. I've only put on a pound as of today, despite mainly surviving of cream eclairs lately! Blush

Anyone used a mosquito spray in pregnancy and can recommend one?

Gigglebert · 19/05/2016 06:51

angrybird also due the 7th :) though #1 was 8 days late so I'm trying to tell myself baby will be here before 22nd Oct! (And actually, due to staff shortages on a bank holiday a friend was just allowed to go 18 days over!?)

Good luck today :)

Planeteer · 19/05/2016 08:01

Fuzzy cream eclairs are obviously the way forward! I've gone from v little gain to suddenly having put on 9lbs... Was determined not to fret about the weight side of being upduffed, but it is v strange and I think might give me a bit of a brain wobble at some point.

Afresh as far as I'm aware lots of the heavy duty deet style ones are a no for us. Might be worth popping to a chemist to chat to them about it.

Tomkat79 · 19/05/2016 08:24

Well it's obvious then that I have my own weight gain plus everyone else's on here!!! Thanks all Wink

BlueberryMuffin85 · 19/05/2016 08:24

Hi ladies
I am just back from my holidays and been catching up! I'm now 18+2 and felt quite a few baby flutter movements on holiday which was nice.
Afresh I was in Asia for my holiday and didn't want to use anything with deet in it I did a bit of research and bought Avon dry oil spray with citronella if you search on Amazon it should be under £5 it seemed to work for me I did get bitten a bit but I don't think that could be helped considering where I was.
I am struggling a bit with sleep and getting up about a million times in the night to wee.
I have a huge appetite at the moment and cannot stop eating! Haven't weighed myself and am a bit scared to.
Does anyone here have any experience with hypno birthing? Or planning to do it for this birth?
X

Blueskygirl30 · 19/05/2016 08:49

I have also been so hungry and eating constantly, especially in the evening. I think I put on about 1kg in a week but my bump popped out more at the same time (and not totally just flubber). Ive done a bit of Internet research on how much people has put on at this stage of pregnancy and then afterwards as well and it varies massively, some people had put on nothing by now and then put on loads in the third trimester, some people put on loads by now and then their weight gain slowed down, and everything in between. As long as you're not massively overeating everyday and trying to cram in some nutrients for the baby (pasta and cheese has vitamins in it right??) then I would try not to worry about it. I only say this because I'm trying to follow my own advice and not stress too much, even though my consultant told me that if I put on another 7kg from what I am currently I'll be consultant led. Blush

Blueberry my friend using hypno birthing CDs through most of the third trimester and then in labour and said it was great. I'm going to look into it for myself as her labour sounded like it was the nicest of any of the birth stories I've heard.

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 19/05/2016 09:46

Hi 19+6 today and scan tomorrow.
Pregnancy support tights were def worth the money and are helping to keep my veins down a bit. Been getting a lot of pain in my pelvis near my coccyx but it's better than the leg/hip pain as it doesn't make me walk like a demented penguin.
Blueberry I used hypnobirthing in my last labour and it was a wonderful experience. I have been listening to my cd every night for the past week and am usually asleep after 5 mins. I didn't really believe it would work and thought I would need something but my midwife was really on board and helped me through the breathing. Not sure what I am doing this time as it was a hard fight to get a home birth last time so not sure if it will happen this time.
Accidently brought a pram this week! Never had a pram before so this is my last chance.
Anyone else having their scan tomorrow?

Fraggleface · 19/05/2016 10:14

I'm keen to try hypnobirthing. Can you recommend any particular one?

HaggisnNeeps · 19/05/2016 13:48

Hi All,
I have been debating whether to join or not, but I am taking the plunge (if you'll have me!) Blush I am pregnant with DC2, due 9th October. 20 week scan is next Tuesday and I am feeling quite nervous, although this baby appears to be a wee mover and shaker (DD1 was not; I barely felt her!).
Anyway, hello to you all, I hope you're pregnancies haven't been too bad so far!

FuzzyOwl · 19/05/2016 16:27

Hello and welcome Haggis. Smile

I weighed myself this morning and have surprisingly only put on 3lb but I also Googled and apparently no baby has yet been born looking like a cream eclair, no matter how many were eaten during pregnancy!

I planned on doing hypnobirthing last pregnancy and had the CDs and books. DD came along earlier than expected so I spent the hours between my waters breaking and her being born sat in the bath frantically reading/listening to as much as possible. This time I will be better prepared!

Fraggle I brought a book called Hypnobirthing the Marie Mongan method which came with a cd. I just read the book and listened to the cd for the last few months. I used to practice the breathing exercises on the toilet, found it helped with constipation too!

BlueberryMuffin85 · 19/05/2016 19:09

Ah good to hear others have either experience or want to try out hypno birthing. I was thinking of doing a course but not sure as quite expensive and don't really have the money to do both hypno and an NCT course so might just get some books and read these first to see how I get on. Thanks for the recommendations
My lower back and hips are aching like crazy today, first day back at work after a two and a half week holiday sitting in an uncomfy office chair all day is no good Sad

clank2 · 20/05/2016 08:29

I am not brave enough to weigh myself! I started off very overweight, I think to be honest I may have lost some fat, but gained some baby. There's nothing I can do beside eat well so not going to worry about it. Was supposed to have physio today which I was desperate for, but one of my little darlings has given me a tummy bug so I've been flying to the loo for the last 10 hours :( my little one is so so active now...giving some belting kicks already! Makes me happy :)

pod100 · 20/05/2016 08:52

Until last week I had only put on 1.5 lbs. just in the airport on the way home from holiday and I am DREADING to think how much I have piled on this week 😂

Kariana · 20/05/2016 10:09

I put on about 5lb in the first trimester (that was once the bloating etc had finally subsided). Last time I weighed myself I'd lost a couple of those which seems odd but I'm not sure I'm eating enough protein so that might be the problem. Been trying to up my intake recently!

Afreshstartplease · 20/05/2016 10:45

I don't own scales!

I was under 8 stone at booking that's all I know

Angrybird234 · 20/05/2016 14:13

How were your scans fraggle and havetobecrazy? Baby in rude health but placenta is v close to cervix so need another scan at 32 weeks.

Has anyone else had this and did the placenta move or did you have to have a C-section?

Afreshstartplease · 20/05/2016 14:15

Have just realised its not actually that long til my next scan! It felt like ages away but it's actually just over two weeks!

Lovely to realise that!

Fraggleface · 20/05/2016 15:52

Update from my scan: all fine except they couldn't take one heart measurement because of how the baby was lying so we have to go back in 10 days.
And we're having a girl!

Afreshstartplease · 20/05/2016 15:55

Great news fraggle!

I wonder what our boy vs girl count is now?
