Hope it helps Afresh.

Nickname I need to get a double buggy as well and have no idea so any suggestions or inspiration would be gratefully received. You need two dashes each side to do a strikethrough like that. Grin

Bluesky I think we were on the ttc buses in 2014 when I had the username SunbathingCat. Is this baby your first?

I had a double when i had DC1&2, it was an awful time for me as I really struggled physically to push it up the hill to my house! I didn't keep it long TBH.

This time dd is 3 so I have escaped!

FuzzyOwl · 14/05/2016 12:12

Would you recommend against one then Afresh? I am probably going to see how well I get on with DD walking/pushchair and the baby in a pram/sling to begin with. DD can't walk yet though, so maybe I am being a bit too hopeful that she will be happily on her feet in five months!

I'd recommend really weighing up the options before you buy and getting something light where the bigger child doesn't have to sit at the front (if you go tandem)

Blueskygirl30 · 14/05/2016 13:31

Plane I just had a look at the one you got, it looks really pretty. There are so many options out there, it's crazy!!

Fuzzy yes! I remember you as your former name from the buses! I had a couple of losses and gave up with the buses as it was getting a bit demoralising having loads of people coming onto the bus month after month and getting pregnant first go! I think I'd just started getting a bit bitter. But yes, this will be my first baby (as long as everything goes well between now and October!!). What number is this for you?

FuzzyOwl · 14/05/2016 14:02

Yes, they can be really demoralising Bkuesky. Assuming everything goes well, this will be my second baby.

Fuzzy I am going to go for the Mountain Buggy Duet, it is a side by side (which I like do they can see each other) but only as wide as a standard single and looks good. A friend of mine bought three double buggies and hated them all until she found the Duet!

FuzzyOwl · 14/05/2016 17:17

Thanks Angharad and I will look that one up as I've never heard of it before (told you I had no idea).

I think my mistake was getting a tandem but I worried about getting pram out of the garden gate

Been having some what I think are Braxton Hicks for about an hour now on and off they are quite sharp!

BigPigLittlePig · 14/05/2016 19:51

Gah I've overdone it today. Slept dreadfully last night, and have spent the day at a local lake, walking around lots but also carrying dd a fair bit. My lower back is in pieces and I fell asleep putting dd to bed not for the first time.

Dh would like a boy, as he has 2 girls already (my dsd and dd), but then he wouldn't want any more, so I'm inclined to say a girl so I can have one more after Grin I did dream I had an actual sneeze birth last night, with a very hairy girl baby. Quite surreal. Lots of kicking and wriggling, which you can feel and see now. Dh just too impatient to see it for himself!

Afreshstartplease · 15/05/2016 08:04

Hope you slept better last night bigpig

I think I did although still have to make two toilet trips.

DC didn't wake up til 730 though so although I was awake I didn't have to move until then!

I have to try not to pick dd up at all these days which is hard because she's a big mummies girl and quite mardy for me, but she's 3 now and tall and I know every time I pick her up I will pay for it

The gp I saw yesterday was not very positive about physio for spd , his attitude was basically "you know it won't make it any better don't you? You will probably have to go on sick"

Kariana · 15/05/2016 09:37

That's not very nice of him fresh, how irritating. I know someone who had physio for it and felt it really helped. They also put her on crutches which helped take the pressure off when walking around. Are they still giving you the physio? Is the codeine giving you any relief?

All this pram talk is making me feel like I should get researching! I have no idea what any of these brands are or even a vague idea what I want I am determined to be patient though for once.

Afreshstartplease · 15/05/2016 09:42

I've not been seen by physio yet

He told me to only use the codine at night initially to see if I can manage like that, last night I took one. They are 30 each so I'm a bit scared of taking two! I did sleep alright though

I struggle most through the week after work and having done lots of walking etc so we will see

Fraggleface · 15/05/2016 10:39

Morning all. I'm sure I've just seen my stomach twitch, twice. Under the belly button to one side. Could this be the baby?!?! (20 weeks on tues, my 1st).

Pram-wise, we loved the pioneer too. Hoping for some kind of sale to come up if we keep looking on the net over the next few months.

Afreshstartplease · 15/05/2016 11:09

Could well be fraggle!

I was woken up by baby this morning!

I have looked at the pioneer but something just doesn't appeal to me!

I like the new cosatto air as you can move the carrycot/seat unit higher up to be closer to baby

TeaGirl3 · 15/05/2016 12:24

Hi everyone, I've now started looking at pushchairs too. This may sound silly, but can anyone advise whether you definitely need to have the fixed car seat base or is the car seat still as safe and secure by using seat belts?

Also can anyone advise, from previous experience, whether it's useful for the car seat to be able to attach to the pushchair chassis or do you always tend to keep it in the car? Thanks!

FuzzyOwl · 15/05/2016 13:51

Tea my car seat attached with seat belts and it is very safe and secure. It also comes out and clips onto the frames/wheels of the pushchair and that is really convenient for times when you want to pop into a shop for five mins and don't want to disturb the baby (especially if they are sleeping).

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 15/05/2016 13:56

A carseat you can clip to your pram is great if your a weakling like me, carseats tend to be quite heavy! I would struggle to carry mine further than car to house

FuzzyOwl · 15/05/2016 14:18

What Afresh said. The car seat itself is light and the baby is light but together they are an impossibly heavy combination!

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 15/05/2016 15:13

Tea girl with DS we found having an isofix base in the car really useful, as you don't have to faff with the seatbelt every time you move the car seat, but if you're going to leave the seat in the car I think seat belt fastening would be fine. I also found it really useful being able to clip the car seat onto the pushchair, as DS hated the carrycot but was happy enough in the car seat.

FuzzyOwl · 15/05/2016 15:20

I have to admit that the isofix base would be quicker but I am so used to doing the car seat with belts now that it really does just take seconds (perhaps not even ten) although I was quite clumsy the first few times.

TeaGirl3 · 15/05/2016 16:16

Thanks everyone, that's really useful!

ditsygal · 15/05/2016 22:03

Anyone suffering with SPD I would highly recommend finding a private physio or osteo if you can afford it (about £40 a session) or have any private health care. From what I've heard NHS will generally do no more then give crutches and a belt where as private if they know what they are doing can do manual manipulation and make the world of difference. I went from crutches to walking with minimal pain last time in 2 sessions. This time it started coming on around 14 weeks and 3 physio sessions so far has corrected it and is keeping the worst of it at bay. So much so I am currently on holiday in Disney world walking for a few hours a day without much pain.

Blueskygirl30 · 15/05/2016 22:11

Tea with the research that I did about car seats it seems that seat belt and isofix fittings are as safe as each other as long as they are both fitted properly. The benefit of the isofix is you only have to fit it once and then youll know it's it fitted correctly. With the seatbelt you just need to ensure you fit it correctly each time.

Ditsy that's great that the physio worked so well for you. I'm very jealous that you're at a Disney right now.

I've got my anomaly scan tomorrow, starting to feel a bit nervous now!

FuzzyOwl · 15/05/2016 23:59

Good luck for tomorrow Bluesky. Sending lots of positive vibes your way.
