I don't see why you would need to go public at work about your pregnancy in order for it to go down as pregnancy related absence. Only your boss and whoever keeps the records need to know.

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 06:54

I am finding out the gender in less than two weeks. I currently have two boys and a girl. It would be nice to even things out, but overall I'm happy either way!

After that scan I'm gonna start buying more. Next on my list are cot mattress and Moses basket.

I'm feeling very achey this morning. Keep saying I'm gonna self refer for physio and not getting round to it. I really need to do it this week I think. I don't want to end up so bad with spd/pgp that I struggle as much as last time. I've been taking taxis anywhere I would normally push dd in the buggy as although she's only just turned three she's so bloody heavy I know it'll aggravate it massively. Trying not to pick her up as much too. But it's already to the point its giving me a bit of a waddle.

I hope you get things sorted at work south I'm quite lucky my work are quite good, I'll probably drop some hours when I pass 25 weeks depending on how bad the spd/pgp gets, last time I took my maternity leave at 29 weeks, I would like to go longer but I know it likely won't happen. I'll just end up sofa bound.

Gigglebert · 24/04/2016 07:23

We aren't finding out the gender, team green here and looking forward to finding out when baby makes its arrival :) getting definite movements this morning finally which is exciting :)

I'm hoping to get to 39 weeks at work this time! finished at 35 weeks last time and was bored as little miss came 8 days late then was gutted when I went back to work and felt I was missing out on so much so will keep going as long as I can this time - I'm only 4 days a week now so that will help a bit and boss is going to give me an 'easy' timetable to make it easy on whoever does my mat cover, I usually take the most senior classes but very difficult to get someone in for a temporary contract with experience at that level.

We have a wedding next October in Chicago that we would love to attend but can only go if I'm still on leave so that will be the driving force for me!

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 07:27

I would have loved to be on leave when dd starts school next Sept, but I can't afford the unpaid three months anyway. I might try and book her first week as a holiday.

Anyone have any name ideas?

Anyone chosen a pram?

Gigglebert · 24/04/2016 07:46

fresh still not convinced we can afford the 3 months at the end either but we will try (fingers crossed)...

Pram wise we will be using our Stokke Scoot again which I love and is mega sturdy (we took it to Australia with no issues). Not given much thought to names yet, I like Matilda for a girl but husband is less sure, boys wise we still have our unused names from last time, Alexander was our favourite but who knows! We had a list of 4 for each when our daughter was born and decided once we saw her :)

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 07:57

I had looked at the scoot , however I'm overly drawn to the pretty fabrics of cosatto lol . Think I'm currently leaning towards an air although I prefer the fabrics available with giggle2 but prefer airs four wheels.

Matilda is nice, I like Tilly as a nn, and I also like Alexander although it's not on our list for family reasons

Alot of the names I like I don't like possible nns which is a pain. Eg I like Thomas hate Tom or Tommy, like James but can't decide how I feel with Jay/Jamie but despise Jim! I do like also like Mason, Elliot and Dylan all of which I could cope with the nns.

Girl name wise I like lots! I currently like Elodie although this doesn't go with current DC names, Marnie, Lana, Lyla, Macy. I haven't discussed these with the oh yet as I think he will dislike them all!

Figgygal · 24/04/2016 08:14

We are going to push for the whole year no idea how going to afford it but otherwise have to go back just before summer holidays and it'll be a pain in arse. Ds starts school in September this year so we are really lucky timing wise.

I've not bought anything yet will start after 20 week scan I suspect. I'm almost forgetting I'm pg still no discernible movement or growing pains the tiredness of first 12 weeks is gone too. Bump varies this morning it's tiny apart from a firm abdomen you barely would know.

I'm really worried about being isolated this time in mat leave last time dh was self employed and so we lived in a lovely bubble this time he's working border away and can come home lunchtimes but I'm feeling more nervous about groups for some reason this time. Maybe it's because I'm 35 and I feel "old" 2 of my antenatal friends from last time are just having dc2 now so while will still be off just as I'm starting they'll have their own new friends and routines by then. I suppose I will have to school run to entertain me.

I have a girls name list as long as my arm and think we've chosen name already boys I have 3 but none are jumping at me typically I'm convinced it's another boy.

Gigglebert · 24/04/2016 08:14

My issue with names is not wanting to use the name of a child I've taught... Eliminates pretty much everything as a secondary teacher who works with about 200 kids a year!

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 08:17

Same giggle, well I don't teach but I work with kids!

I suspect this baby is a boy

When I was having dd I could shave my legs like once a month and it barely grew back, this time it's just as it would be non pregnant. This is my theory. I may be proven wrong in 13 days though! Dd would love a sister

BigPigLittlePig · 24/04/2016 09:35

Dh works in a school so keeps vetoing names for the same reason! We have a few names for boys, but girls are elusive as ever.

MeDownSouth · 24/04/2016 09:44

Will have a chat with MW on Monday and am writing and email as you suggested. I think it's more a case of her not knowing/understanding things rather than deliberately treating me badly, I hope!
I don't think we're finding out, I want a surprise but OH wants to know! Things may change as we move on but I think I'm sticking to my surprise! No names yet, he won't let me look at baby stuff in the shops as it's too early so I think telling him names I like, might scare him off. I always wanted Oliver but my cousin's baby has just been named that (as well as already having 3 others in our friends/family circle, 2 of which are DSis godchildren) so that's out :(
I haven't even considered mat leave yet (another thing boss is hinting she wants to know) as initially I thought it was too early, if the drs don't give you the paperwork til 20wks then maybe 1st trimester might be too early? I've been thinking about it a bit but not sure when I want to start. I think I want as much time as possible off with baby (especially as it's our first) but it depends on what our finances are like when if we ever move house.
It's surprising women ever have babies - there's so much to think/worry about! :)

pod100 · 24/04/2016 09:50

We had a look at prams yesterday and so far the Silver Cross Pioneer is the definite preference.

I've bought a perfect prep and a bouncer and have a couple of bits of clothes and some muslin cloths. I also bought a pack of nappies when doing the food shop yesterday. Thought it was a good idea to start stocking up on essentials.

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 09:50

It's funny, I was 19 when I fell pregnant with DC1 and I didn't worry about anything! Never entered my mind anything could go wrong!

Pretty much the same when at 20 I fell pregnant with DC2.

By 24 when DC3 was on the way I had heard so many horror stories from friends, family and on the internet I became a worry wart!

This time I've felt a bit like how have I been so lucky. Three happy healthy DC. Three uncomplicated pregnancies and deliveries. Surely this time won't be so easy?,

I've managed to shake this frame of mind by now luckily but it took a good couple of months! Fingers crossed everything will be fine this time too

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 09:52

Pod the pioneer does look nice, what are the differences between that and the wayfarer do you know? I've pushed a wAyfarer and it wasn't nice so puts me off

BigPigLittlePig · 24/04/2016 10:12

I change jobs in August, although still within the NHS, so have had to send off paperwork already so they can plan for cover. Seems strange trying to pick a date to return to work in 2017! Dh got confirmation on Friday that his job is secure for another year so that's a big weight off our minds. Now have to start the process of looking for a new house, as will have to move in July. Won't be the first time I've moved whilst pg, last time dd arrived 5d later to a scene of chaos!

MeDownSouth · 24/04/2016 10:28

Ah BigPig I feel your pain on the moving front! I'm sat surrounded by half packed boxes not knowing if the house will ever be ours but either way we have to move, this place isn't big enough for two of us let alone three!
Congratulations on DH's job confirmation!

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 24/04/2016 10:35

Hi, I've got my gender scan on Wednesday morning not really that bothered now either way but will be good to have the reassurance of another scan.
Up until I had my mc last year I had never really thought things might go wrong. It has been so much harder this time to get excited when there is so much to worry about.
Haven't started looking at names yet, first two Dc's had traditional but not common names and then last one my DH chose and I don't know anyone with her name. She is called Coral, no idea how to follow that!
I've already got a Phil & Teds and a few single buggies so won't be buying a new pram, I have my eye on a few things but feel it's still a bit early and have nowhere to put them.
Started getting movements in the evening over the past few days and am showing a lot more than normal, don't think I can hide it until 20 weeks.

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 10:41

I've had loads of movement this morning when lay half on my front! Once you get regular movements it's reassuring on its own

Figgygal · 24/04/2016 11:35

Weve been on market now 9 weeks none seemingly wants to buy our house we've lost the one we really wanted and can't find anything else I want. We've planning to extend here which we could do for £50k or will be £120k to buy a 4 bed I just balk at idea of how much this will cost and think stay here but it's not what either of us really want. SOOO conflicted. Going to end up stuck here living on top of each other with no where to do the washing.

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 11:39

Least your not stuck in private renting

Like me Sad

I'd love a four bed but can't afford it

Planning to take the box room when baby is six months and baby and dd can share our room

BigPigLittlePig · 24/04/2016 11:48

Have been privately renting forever, as I have to move EVERY YEAR with work. To live near my next job would cost us £1000+ a month to rent a 3 bed, so will never be able to save a deposit. Think we're going to live near dhs work and take a hit by going for a 2 bed at half the price. That way we should be able to save a sizeable amount even on mat leave. Just dreading the commute (30 miles). But, near dhs work and both sets of in laws and dsd, so shall have to suck it up.

pod100 · 24/04/2016 11:48

afreshstart there wasn't a huge amount of difference between the Pioneer and the Wayfarer, aside from the Pioneer coming with a seat liner, but to me the Pioneer felt really sturdy and solid. We tried loads including Bugaboo and iCandy and the Pioneer felt much better in all aspects. It wasn't fiddly, the tilting mechanism was really simple, it's easy to put down (although isn't the smallest when flat so boot size may need consideration) and it also could be forward or rear facing. The assistant said that the Silver Cross car seats weren't the best but that you could get adaptors that make them compatible with Maxi Cosi.

Loving your gender guessing based on hairy legs! Grin first time I've heard that one, haha! Although I have to agree, I think I am having a girl if you don't have to shave them as much!

MeDownSouth · 24/04/2016 11:51

If we lose this house we'll be stuck in private renting or have to buy a poky flat that's slightly bigger than this, house prices have gone up so much here since we put our offer in :(

Afreshstartplease · 24/04/2016 12:04

The wayfarer I pushed felt awkward and clunky, this might be to do with me being so small though I'm not sure!

FuzzyOwl · 24/04/2016 12:27

We had our house up for sale when I was pregnant last time with the plan to move and be settled before I gave birth, but it ended up being six weeks afterwards. Was so stressful! Am still on maternity leave so not planning on returning in between and will just use annual leave to bridge the gap.
