Great news fifi you were starting to worry us! Awkward baby! I had a baby shower last time (under strict instructions of no games and no tack etc!) but won't be bothering this time. I said to my two best friends can we say it's a shower to have the excuse to leave all the kids and meet up for cake but promise me not to buy presents etc.

pulpi yours sounds like it will be really lovely. It's all down to the organisers in my experience! I'm lucky in my circle we don't like the over the top stuff that I wouldn't like!

anna from what I remember it was harder being pregnant with a toddler than with a newborn and a toddler. But depends on the child a bit I think. feeling so un-able bodied is really exhausting with one to look after already. Really sorry to hear about your hey fever. I had an awful summer with mine last year but so far nothing drastic here. Can you not take antihistamines? Or just weak ones?

beaut are you any nearer to a decision on a name? keep thinking we've decided and then I start doubting. We don't 100% agree either. Re water retention mine has come from nowhere, I'm blaming the heat. Why oh why does it get me in the arms too?!

birchy they sound like great Primark bargains, I really should do the same. We don't have one near us so a trip means trekking with two DDs and i just can't face that right now!! How's the rest of your hospital bag coming along? we have just gone for a simple maxi cosi car seat I think it was £80/90. Last baby here though and already have a base to clip it on. Trying not to spend out Hmm

In other non pregnant/baby related news DD2s car seat was one of the Mamas and Papas one recalled by Argos so had to swap that yesterday. She gets v attached to things so was balling her eyes out in the car park that she wanted her old seat back Blush

More washing on the line today. And more ice cream consumed.

Hello all!

Mostly absent poster popping in again- I managed to mess up my log in details to MN and it took ages to sort out again.

We have now finished (mostly) our massive building project at home and are now out of the rented flat and back into the house. There is still what feels like loads to do. I have been feeling a bit anxious about the fact that the house has taken up so much head space that I have barely spent any time thinking about the arrival of the baby. Even now, we have some on going issues with the builders that means I can't put the building work behind me and start thinking about preparation for July.

We have bought a second-hand upababy vista buggy that is in really good condition and we are going this evening to look at a babybay cot, but apart from that we have done no shopping at all. I have crocheted the baby two soft toys though! I think we will have to draw up a list and go on a massive shopping trip at the end of this month.

I'm now 29 weeks and starting to notice the effect it is having on my body- my ankles and feet have been getting puffy for the last few days and I notice that I unless I focus on my posture and movement I am starting to feel heavy and plod when I am walking. I'm trying to remind myself that it is inevitable and nothing wrong, but I don't like the feelings of 'weakness' it brings. Anyone else in the same boat?

Hello ladies haven't been on here all week and so much chatter to catch up on!!

It's been very very long week. Work has been busy and then last night didn't feel well, started getting pains, stomach got very hard and baby wasn't moving as much so headed to hospital to get checked out just in case.

Baby was monitored, all was fine and consultant put it down to early contractions(?!) or braxton hicks. Haven't had pain like that before in pregnancy so was all quite scary but at least I know not to panic next time. Can't seem to remember reading if any of you have had braxton hicks??

Haven't caught up with all the chat yet but Eliz welcome back glad to hear you had a good holiday :-)

primary what a great job on your nursery looks fab!

Kaytee feel for you regarding MIL, sadly I have 2 (hubby has a step mum) one is great the other..well put it this way I've learnt to bite my tongue a lot!

bluebell if I was getting a backpack I would get one of these by Tiba and Marl www.tibaandmarl.com not cheap but are lovely!!! Read good reviews about them too

allthegood wasn't planning on getting a tens machine my sister highly recommends them so that's going on my list!

Fifi sweet scan pic! glad to hear everything is ok :-). My colleagues are holding a work baby shower for me on Thu and then my family & friends next Sat!

Thistle join the club! my feet are swollen, I feel so heavy & sluggish and have definitely got a little waddle going on when I walk. Scary to think I've still got 9 weeks to go!!

31 weeks today :-)

ps after yesterday's little scare, glad I had hospital bag packed. Will be taking it easy for the next few weeks that's for sure!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 06/05/2016 15:41

Anna definitely true that being pregnant with a toddler is harder. Ds1 was only 17 months when ds2 was born and I actually quite liked having them that close together. Everyone thinks I'm mad but I found two close in age easier than just ds3. I think it's because they occupied each other.

It may not apply to you hopefully but I heard great things about aldi nappies from everyone. However , they are the only brand ds3 is allergic too. We use pampers or tescos own which are fab. I tried Asda little angels but I find they make him smell. I don't think the urine soaks into them enough.

Fifi so pleased all is well with your cheeky little boy. Isn't it amazing how much they grown.
The veet reminder made me think about the review a guy left on Amazon. It is the funniest thing I've ever read if you haven't seen it you must Google.

Allthegood I've never had a health visitor come over before the birth. I have to say they aren't my favourite people. I nod and smile when they are in my house but I don't take any of their advice on board if I'm honest. Last time I got told off for having my bottles pre made cooling on the side ready to put in the fridge. That's not the done thing now but was when I had ds1. There was nothing wrong with him or the two children I've fed like that since.

Cookies no really cannot decide on a name. Before I got pregnant Rafferty was our definite boy name but since step MIL threw Monty into the mix I cannot decide. DH is no help at all.

Thistle I feel the same. I feel so heavy. In fact I've just come outside for a bit of sun. I've even rolled my leggings up to my knees haha. But my goodness I got a shock at the full on state of my fat calves, ankles and feet. I also feel like I'm plodding when I walk and really waddling when I first get up from sitting. I always get puffy ankles it's a running joke as to how long after birth it will be before my ankle bones reappear it's usually pretty quick. I'm always so thirty for water in the days after birth that I think I flush all the toxins out.

Jem I'm 31 weeks today too. How exciting we are in the single figure countdown now. I get what you mean about it still feeling a long time to go considering how lots of us are feeling.

With regards to a baby shower I don't really have many friends here but it has got me thinking that it may be nice to have a get together with the girls from back home and here as well as my mum, sister etc and just have a little afternoon tea or something.

Thank you so much to all of you that voted on my baby names thread. You will all be the first to know once I'm decided.

31+0 eek

pulpi · 06/05/2016 16:01

*Beautician" a nice afternoon tea is a great way to do it. Also, fizz. And cake. Lots of cake. I'm going to avoid the shower games as I find them really cringey. No sitting on balloons until they pop because that just makes everyone feel bad! Since all my family is in Canada and Spain, it's a chance to spend some time with my friends here that have been really supportive (and majority of which are expats as well!) and swap horror stories in front of all the child free women and teenage girls -- best birth control ever is being forced to listen to birthing stories!

But mostly, it'll be nice to get all the advice that I'm not going to get from my family because they are so far away. That feeling of a having a truly supportive group of women nearby will hopefully get me through the worst bits of life with a newborn!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 07/05/2016 03:42

Hi Anna. I am in denial but am pretty sure it is a cold. The worst type where there is almost nothing wrong with you but you feel like crap. Monaing when you shouldn't waste the effort! I am just going to hope the weather sorts me out this weekend.

Dowhatyoulove123 · 07/05/2016 09:25

You ladies talk fast!

28 weeks + here.. Feeling a little fatter now (no doubt all down to the extra cake I've been eating!)

My friends here threw me a surprise baby shower - it was lovely but I wasn't really expecting it so it was a bit of a shock. Got a few lovely bits but my favourite was a handmade patchwork quilt - it's stunning.

Feeling fairly bleh today though and very low on energy.. Want to be a slob but I realise I should get up and do some housework!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 07/05/2016 09:31

Dowhatyoulove. Forget the housework and slob. That is what I say 😄

BelOfTheBall79 · 07/05/2016 11:27

Hi all. This thread moves fast! Too many things yo keep track of and too hard to do on mobile so I'll just say that I hope youre all well!

Am on a mini baby moon with DH at the moment. It's bliss, had breakfast in our room and now slobbing around in my PJs still. Might go for a swim soon! Life will be so different in approximately 9 weeks...

Loving the weather at the moment. So pleased we are having summer babies!

Reality will hit me soon when I realise I have work on Monday and a trip to London to do this week. Boo. Still, only 7 weeks left and I'm going down to fewer days per week from mid May to use up some holidays.

Wow Indians, so beautiful. The 4D scans are amazing.

Me and DH went to a wedding yesterday, really lovely ceremony and great reception. I was feeling so uncomfortable by about 10pm but carried on until 00.30 danced the night away and enjoyed a cheeky small glass of rosè.

Hoping everyone else is having a lovely weekend?

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 08/05/2016 07:52

anna - we are hoping to move in June, although our buyers are proving to be tricky. We are getting to stage that either want to proceed or don't. It will be very frustrating if they pull out at this stage, as we have paid for a survey, lawyers fees and mortgage fees on our onward purchase.
puzzle & Indians - I love the 4D scans. You have inspired me and I am going to book one in shortly. I was thinking in about 3 weeks when I am around 32/33 weeks.
I am starting to make lists of things I will need in the first few weeks when the baby is born. I am going to do a mass order at the June from JL.
kaytee I would not be happy with Noddy and Big Ears arriving in my nursery. I am not sure how PC they are now as well. I am lucky with my in-laws. They are both great & nice to have around. I am hoping that they will help out when the baby arrives. I am happy for them to move in!!!
I hope that everyone is enjoying the weather & it is easing the various pregnancy symptoms people are experiencing. Someone told me this weekend I only looked around 4 months pregnant. My OH could stop laughing as I am clearly massive!! The sun is shining and I have been resting my cankles! I am not looking forward to work tomorrow, I am enjoying relaxing.

morning ladies! what a scorcher weekend! hope everyone had fun. we went to an artists open house in south london which was brilliant - everything from ceramics to landscapes. didn't buy anything but have a few cards in case we need to fill walls when we move.

speaking of which, Thom, hope this week moves things along for you re: the house. it really brings out the best and worst in people doesn't it? (solicitors included).

bluebell - thanks for your star print suggestion. that's a lovely idea. i'm just a bit concerned it's quite contemporary as our house dates from 1680 so i'm trying for a period look (and failing miserably).

lovely scan pics, amazing level of detail! they both look gorgeous. i think i'm going to wait impatiently until she arrives now. think the sunshine tired her out, she was a lot less active this weekend.

sitting here having breakfast with Ted before Waterbabies swimming lesson at 0930. think you can start them when they're around 12 weeks if anyone is interested...they are a great, if expensive, way of getting babies comfortable with the water. i love going too but it's getting a little tricky lifting up a heavy toddler and twirling him around the water!

OP posts:
allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 09/05/2016 08:17

Elli coincidentally my little one was a lot less active this weekend too. So much so that I rang the hospital worried about reduced movement. They had me come in for monitoring yesterday and once the trace was on she went absolutely crazy so all was well in the end. Had me feeling a bit of a wallyBlush Midwives were lovely and suggested it was probably because I hadn't been eating and drinking as much as usual over the last couple of days and was a bit dehydrated.

puzzle and indians great scan pics I'm so impatient to find out what my little girl will look like I think I might cave in and get one Smile

Only 9 more commutes left until maternity leave can't wait I'm beyond knackered

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 09/05/2016 08:40

33 weeks today! I've not been keeping up very well with this thread at all though!

I'm starting to think I won't make it to 38 weeks at work. This is pathetic - I live less than 10 mins walk from office and my job is not physically taxing. But I have totally and utterly lost interest, and I'm getting so tired! I feel like the diabetes consumes so much brain space I don't have room for work as well! Going to talk to my manager about finishing a week earlier, which would mean only 4 weeks to go.

BelOfTheBall79 · 09/05/2016 09:03

Ooh youandme four weeks...that would be amazing!

Indians and Puzzle love your scan pics. Where did you go? Does anyone know of anywhere good in the Yorkshire region to get them done?

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 09/05/2016 09:27

Indians- the experience was lovely! The ladies were wonderful and so nice tried to get the best pictures possible but was hard because of how he was laying.. But I was told he's head down!!Grin I was to busy being an emotional wreck to ask questions such as thoughts on weight haha, but I do recommend going I loved it

Bel- I went to Window To The Womb in Southampton, they have a few studios around the UK so you could see if one is near you :)

I went at 17 weeks and 30+4 the other day, so I got to see how he's progressed!! Its amazing! (Pic attached)

I hope everyones enjoyed the lovely weather! Its been so hot! How we're gunna cope later on is a mystery because it killed me haha! Went to Ikea yesterday and have a new bedGrinGrin dont know whether I said in this thread but our old one was utter crap. It came missing things but because it all fit together and looked sturdy we thought it was going to be fine! As the months progressed the whole thing became unattached only held together by the slats being screwed in and we were sleeping on a massive slope!! Massively uncomfortable. So Im super happy we have a new oneGrin and we also brought a new wardrobe which again Im in love with! And some storage boxes, man I love Ikea!!

pulpi · 09/05/2016 09:31

Ugh. Head cold came back over the weekend. Just called in sick to work so I can take a day to feel better. Considering I suffered at work through my last whopper of a cold (elephantine sneezes and all), I'm not feeling too guilty about keeping my feet up today. Especially since every 5 minutes I'm doing my best impression of a 19th-century consumptive wretch.

So I'm curled up on the sofa reading Tyerman's book on the Crusades (yes, nice light reading, that) while the washing machine works on a load of sleepers and vests. At the very least, I can get a bit down around the house between coughing fits.

29+4.

KayTee87 · 09/05/2016 10:10

Pulpi I hope you feel better soon, make the most of your day off.

Puzzle pics are amazing, sounds like you had a successful shopping trip!

Youandme I'm finishing at 36 weeks and don't think I will be able to cope a minute longer than that. Already struggling with rib pain from sitting down all day.

Allthegood glad everything was OK at you check and that the midwives were nice.

Thom maybe I could use the non pc excuse, didn't even think of that!

Becks glad you enjoyed yourself at the wedding, sounds fun.

Indians great pics, very clear.

Bel jealous of your babymoon, sounds great.

On the whole I had a great weekend, went out for dinner on Friday after work for a bday treat for my husband, my ribs were in quite a bit of pain from sitting in work so we didn't stay out late. Came home and went for a walk through the woods behind our house.
Saturday was so busy, in the morning we went shopping then I cleaned the outside of all of the Windows of the house (window cleaner has gone awol), then I jet washed the whole house so it can be painted, then I cleaned inside. I was knackered by 7pm!
Yesterday I met a friend for lunch then we had my husbands family round for a BBQ. Have another mil moan (I swear we do get on well!), she wouldn't stop fucking groping my stomach all bloody day! It was horrible, she was poking me etc to try and get the baby to move and getting DH aunt to 'feel' as well, I was so wound up by the time they all went home. I know I should really say something but I find it really hard and I don't understand why people think it's ok to do that.
Got no sleep last night at all, another BBQ with friends after work today, need to make the most of the sun!

KayTee87 · 09/05/2016 10:12

Just to add while I was doing all that work on Saturday my husband was replacing roof tiles and doing gardening. Just realised it probably looks bad the pregnant woman washing windows etc Grin

Cookiesandcoffee · 09/05/2016 11:28

pulpi really sorry to hear you're feeling crap. Lots of rest today and don't feel guilty at all.

missing and indians your scan pics are just so lovely. Very jealous indeed. I really recommend them I had a Babybond one done last time but money is too tight this time. missing the IKEA trip sounds very productive. Love an IKEA trip. Hope you can get a really good nights sleep on your new bed Smile

youandme don't feel like you can't leave earlier. No harm in it at all. You need to have your head together. I left at 32 weeks last time (with a few weeks hol) but was the best thing I did!

allthegood they are never cross at you for being a 'wally' in my experience. Always better safe than sorry! I must say I found the same yesterday but around 9pm he went absolutely crazy in there.

kaytee you sound like super woman!! Jealous of all this BBQ talk I keep complaining I want one! This baby wants the meat! (Sorry to the veggies out there)

32 weeks today.
Also rib pain from sitting at my desk today. Keep having to get up and move. eaten huge volumes over the weekend surely he must be growing lots in there?! Went to the beach over the weekend and managed to work on my tan burn .

I'm supposed to attend a class thing at my local children's centre, apparently they do it now instead of a 'birth plan' at the midwife. It's 3 hours long, you can't take children (I would have DD2) AND clashes with the school run. Was really pushed into it by the midwife despite me telling her I wouldn't be able to find childcare and being my 3rd did I really need it. Waste of time surely Now I've lost the number. And it's tomorrow. Oops.

foobio · 09/05/2016 12:52

Thom80 - I looked into getting a 4d scan having seen all these lovely ones, and the ones near me recommend before 32 weeks, so worth checking before leaving it a few weeks! (I'm 32wks today, so probably won't bother now)

KayTee - I feel for you having to deal with all that prodding! I've managed to avoid it so far, but am sure my MIL would be the same. I consider my in-laws almost completely the same as my family, but there's still a small part of me that thinks I have to be on best behaviour with them still! Except FIL's irritating debates on everything which I have fortunately learnt to tell him I just don't care!

cookies I'm also suffering from rib pain, as well as weird rib pins and needles and numb skin patches just below - apparently baby likes leaning on the nerves to that area!

indians - hope the travelling goes well, have you got a fit to fly note if you need one for your airline/dates. I apparently needed one but after all the effort of getting it well, one GP appt they didn't even ask for it! Baby went mental both ways on the flight, no idea whether it was the noise or the changing pressure or just how I was sitting, but very cute!

Am back at work today after a week off and just can't be bothered any more, big countdown starts here - 5 weeks left, minus some Mondays and Fridays off, and working from home days for appointments too! Grin Should probably start getting myself organised with a hospital bag etc eeee!

32wks
