Thanks ladies, DD goes to preschool mon/tues/wed so I get a bit of peace then.

Primary the nursery looks great, love the crochet animals and green blanket.

Beautiful dress missingpiece

Bluebell20 · 05/05/2016 10:48

Elliz you are so right, it is fricking hideous. I am just going to bite the bullet and buy the Skip Hop. Sod it!

And yeah, I would love to have laser surgery. Looked into it, but my eyes aren't stable enough yet (will they ever be?!). I am terribly short-sighted - 7.5 in one eye, and 8.5 in the other. It would be so amazing not to have to wear glasses or lenses!

Regarding blinds material, what about a simple star print? Lovely for a baby and for an older kid - and for adults too, to be fair!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 05/05/2016 10:52

I did it. I bought some newborn nappies. Other than a mattress I know I own everything else I need. I just have to find out who has what!

Elizardo. I had lazik in 2009ish and it has seriously been the best money I have ever spent on me. Next on my list is a boob job. Get these mummas down to a decent manageable size.

Fifi. Where are you?.....

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 05/05/2016 11:43

Did anyone use a TENS machine during labour? Was it helpful or just annoying? Is it worth buying or hiring one for the early labour stages? The hospital has one but I'm worried I will probably need it more when I'm at home before I get there

Bluebell star print for blinds sounds lovely - I'm imagining a soft grey background with white stars

goingloopy I'm planning a boob reduction as well (after the next baby)

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 05/05/2016 12:04

Bluebell I couldn't find a backpack I like but I won't be baby carrying loads. I got this http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/babymel-cara-changing-bag-navy-stripe/p1097071?sku=232690967&kpid=232690967&skenid=4b032b55-5499-4135-bd50-51332ef5dbfb&sskwcid=403x406525&tmad=c&tmcampid=73#pageloaded as I don't think it looks too much like a change bag.
Baby will be fine after the button incident. They are very well cushioned in there.

Becks sorry that you have such bad spd. I got signed off early with it last time too.

Primary nursery envy. It's beautiful. I'm hoping for a water birth too as I've not had one before.

Indians I find after sitting for a while I get crotch pain when I stand and it feels like the baby is in a funny position. It wears off after I've waddled around for a bit.

Cookies I washed all the baby clothes yesterday so that I could line dry. As for ironing what's that? I don't do ironing. I deliberately buy clothes that don't need it haha.

Dats I'm struggling with my toddler too. He is very tantrumy at the moment. I also have cankles and the tops of my arms are disgusting Sad

Kaytee yes my MIL is a not very secret boy/man hater. I find it strange as all she does is moan about her 40 year old daughter who is constantly around the MILs house. They all make me laugh. We have the in laws over Sunday for a BBQ as its two of the children's birthday month. I'm sure something I say , do or haven't done will be commented on. I'm bound to get the "you're huge" comments too Hmm

Eek tomorrow I will be in single figures to due date.

30+6

KayTee87 · 05/05/2016 12:27

I hate the 'you're huge' comments - why is it suddenly less rude to comment on someone's size just because they're pregnant?
Someone who has said it to me before I swear has a bigger stomach than me and I'm almost 7 months pregnant. Obviously I would never point that out to her Grin

pulpi · 05/05/2016 13:27

KayTee I had a great opportunity yesterday to shut up my boss, who keeps making comments on my size. One of my coworkers asked if I'd had any unwanted bump touching, and this was a perfect segue into a discussion of how pregnant women's bodies become public property. I expressed my disgust at comments about my size and eating habits (which are really good, dammit!) coming unsolicited simply because people feel the right to comment.

That shut him right up.

Went for my whooping cough booster today. But of a sore arm, but not too bad.

29 weeks today.

KayTee87 · 05/05/2016 13:43

Good for you pulpi I could literally rant all day about things like that but I won't bore you all!
I had my whooping couch vaccination on Tuesday and my arm is still very sore along with a big red, raised circle Confused

KayTee87 · 05/05/2016 13:44

Cough*!

Cookiesandcoffee · 05/05/2016 14:24

Ha as a disclaimer I think I have ironed aprox two items in the last nearly 7 years... And one of these items was my husbands shirt for our wedding day! We are a 'shirt' family so my moto is hang and the creases will fall out.

dats beautician and others with 2/3 year olds.. Mine has been an absolute terror at times recently. Really clingy to daddy and doesn't want to know me. She's v excited about the baby but her behaviour is out of character. Some days I'm ready to put her in the bin Confused

bluebell I would go for the bag you really want if you've fallen in love with it. Unless I see one I fall in love with I'm just not going to bother. You're going to lug it everywhere with you so no point having an ugly one in my opinion. I bought a navy/stripey fold away changing mat for now, which you can put nappies/wipes in and intend to chuck in a big bag, it was £9 from Jojo I think.

allthegood I've never used a Tens before but have heard good things. Most people I know have used them at home. Can you hire them? I'm opting for water birth this time .. Had my heart set on it last time and by the time I got to hospital there was no time!

beautician definite cankles here. And blubby tops of arms, and where my boobs meet my arm pit I suddenly have a gross 'extra boob'

Talking of boobs my breast pump arrived today. Borrowed a friend's last time but she doesn't have it anymore. Im excited and want to try it out! Went for the Swing in the end

Feeing much better for my chiro work today and have been busying around the garden (also trying to get a tan) with the mindset resembling a whale isn't as bad if you're tanned. More washing is also on the line Smile

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 05/05/2016 16:14

Cookies I bet you most definitely do not resemble a whale at all. I daren't get on the scales.
My toddler is the same all over daddy and not interested in me at all. I guess it's their way of gearing up for the impending arrival.

Anyone else have sore bits. I feel a lot of pressure when I'm standing or walking. It doesn't feel like I'm about to give birth at least I hope not but I've never had it before. Also possibly tmi but I trimmed the lady garden this morning and it feels quite swollen & tender.

Can I ask a favour I have a thread in baby names which cookies and Julfin have commented on. The thread title is Boys name we have loads. Could you just pop over and let me know your favourite name if you get chance.

beckslovestimmy · 05/05/2016 17:32

All the good, I used a TENS last time and had it on from very near the beginning of labour until DD was born. Didnt have any other pain relief. I had to take it off to change the pads and I definitely felt a big difference with out it. I borrowed mine off a friend and just got new pads off eBay.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 05/05/2016 17:36

Hmm I've been eating better and doing exercise this week and yet today the water retention on my ankles has come out in full force. I don't usually get it until later Sad

Lulabells · 05/05/2016 19:15

Haha I'm the opposite with my 3 year old DD. Wants nothing to do with Daddy and is stuck to me like glue. I'm usually the favourite anyway but she is my shadow at the moment and it's driving me nuts! My personal space has already been compromised but to also have her literally pushing her face against mine several times a day is driving me nuts.

Also interested in TENS machine this time so happy to hear any more positive stories. Of course I'm going to get all my contractions and birthing done within an hour so probably won't need it Wink.

AnnaT45 · 05/05/2016 20:57

Guys I'm going to tell you off! You're all too chatty I can't keep up Grin only joking I love reading through it all even if I don't reply.

I'm going to try remember everything....

Re other children to look after... It's such hard work. DD is just 16 months and starting to get a bit tantrumy. I'm trying to teach her how to go down the stairs backwards as carrying her is doing my back in but she wants to walk down them!!! Beautican is it true that be pregnant with a toddler is worse than having a newborn and a toddler?!

I didn't get any pics on my phone of my dress for wedding but wearing it again in two weeks so will do then! Am a bridesmaid on Saturday and can't wait! Staying in a cottage the night before doing girls pampering! missing lovely dress, you'll look amazing I'm sure.

Re tens machine. I had one but forgot to take it with me... I was induced so no excuse lol!

thom hurray for mortgage any ideas on dates? We are still hoping for early June. Worried as I'm very laid back about it and need to get my bum into gear!!

Loving all the baby purchases and nurseries. I went to Aldi on Tuesday and they've lots of baby stuff out. I got a box of 12 packs of wipes for less than £6 bargain!!!! I've not used their nappies but I hear good things. I'm not going to buy anything till we moved as need to sort through what we've got first , I don't need loads to be fair. Just a double buggy mainly!

beautician I'm going to look at your thread on names. We have starred to discuss. I'm
Hoping it's a boy as we have two we love. Girls we are completely unsure so we need to get looking!

I can't remember who has been signed off from work, was it becky? but I hope you're ok! And also great timing with the weather. Go get in the garden!

going sleep is going well here! A week of sleeping through till 5! Now just need to push that back as it makes for a long day!!!

Re changing bags. I'm thinking of just getting a cheap backpack to have. I bought some lovely wash bags that I use for nappies etc do can just put those in them. Got them here www.notbeforetea.co.uk/filter/shop/ think they're on not on the high street too. Very cute stuff!

Ive got awful hay fever. Had a chat with burse today and little I can take. So awful
As my eye is so red and swollen. Going to look awful for pics on Sat! Bar that I'm good and just happy the weather is better! Hope you're all ok.

Bringing up the rear 27 + 4

FifiRebel · 05/05/2016 21:21

Hi all so sorry for not coming back sooner to update you, feel awful that I worried you! Thank you for your kind messages Smile

So it turns out I have a perfectly healthy but very stubborn baby boy...spent most of Sunday being monitored. His heartbeat was absolutely fine but he just wouldn't move, no matter how many cups of iced water I had / change position / kept going to loo etc. Hospital advised me to rest up so I've had a few days off and skipped my commute this week. He's gone back to his usual pattern of movement now since I slowed down.

I went for the growth scan today and was v shocked to be told that he is measuring right in the middle of the lines on chart and his leg measurements are off the chart!!! So all that fuss over nothing! I do look and measure small though so not sure where he is hiding but delighted that all is well.

Lots for me to catch up on - thanks again for all the kind messages I'm so touched. Here is a pic of my baby from today xx

FifiRebel · 05/05/2016 21:45

Thank you for your messages bluebell, foobio, ellizardo, allgoodnames, cookies, loopy, primary, thom, kaytee, dats, tams

Thom - how annoying that you've had such late notice of the best time to have your baby. I hope your work have been supportive with changing the date, all the bureaucracy can be so annoying to deal with.

Beautician - I use veet (well, nair actually) for personal grooming as I'm allergic to wax. I've always used it regularly but I've been getting a reaction when pregnant so worth using with caution.

Kaytee - argh that must be frustrating with MIL. Does she come over often / unexpectedly? Perhaps they can live in a cupboard and come out for visits 😉

Becks - sorry to hear you're suffering but congrats on the mat leave! I'm jealous but probably not so much of the PGP. Hope you're able to rest

Primary - gorgeous nursery pics!

Dats - your post has made me chuckle!!! Especially the sign off

Tams - thank you for thinking of me and my stupid commute! Back to London next week but only 3 more trips to go thank god!!

Like pulpi, I also had whooping cough vaccine yesterday and arm is still sore. Also had bloods today (which I hate) so hoping these are the last ones! The scan today also showed that the baby is head down - I was getting very jealous of everyone else who knew their baby's position!! My midwife kept telling me that it was too early to tell but she thought he was sideways.

Is anyone planning to have a baby shower...?

28+0

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 05/05/2016 22:15

becks and cookies thanks for the feedback on the TENS machine looks like it's all positive so far so I probably will end up
getting one.

fifi gorgeous scan photo

Got a call from the health visitor today wanting to come round for an introductory visit next week - slightly confused as I thought they only came round after birth? Has anyone else has this as part of their antenatal care?

pulpi · 05/05/2016 22:16

Hey Fifi I'm planning a shower, but I'm careful to preface it with "It's a Canadian thing"... because it is! Baby showers here, as I've learned from lurking on other threads here on MN, are apparently grabby, chavvy affairs; however, this has never been my experience! Hoping to do mine when I'm 37 weeks and roll it into a Canada Day celebration at the same time. Two birds and all that.

KayTee87 · 05/05/2016 23:07

I am having a kind of baby shower, all of my friends have so kind of the norm in my circle. There's 29 of us (!) going out for afternoon tea and cocktails/mocktails at a nice restaurant in town. I've tried to make it clear they don't need to bring gifts but people love to buy baby stuff don't they.
I'm getting my hair and make up done that day and just looking forward to a girly day out before the baby comes. I will be 36 weeks.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 05/05/2016 23:14

Fifi. Glad things are good.

Anna - congratulations on the sleep. I hope you get to 7:30 soon. I can't tell you how much difference it makes

I have a suspicious feeling I am coming down with something. My throat has been rusty all day. I hope I don't get ill. I have had too much time off this year. It makes being productive at work hard.

My 31 month old boy is being quite tantrumy atm. I think a lot has to do with him wanting to play with his pirates all the time but having to fit in stuff like nursery, baths, eating and sleeping!

AnnaT45 · 06/05/2016 09:51

Fifi that's great news! What a worry for you though.

going I cursed it! She was up a lot coughing poor thing and her room was very warm so just put her in bed with me in the end and she fell asleep straight away. Not ideal but if they're ill it can't be helped! 7.30 would be amazing. I think shes slept that late maybe twice and that was after a bad night !

I'm not having a baby shower personally, I'm really wary about giving gifts before the baby arrives. Instead last time I had a lovely tea party with all my girlie mates it was very chilled and fun. I'll do the same this time! I think if you want one go for it!

AnnaT45 · 06/05/2016 09:52

P.s going it's not hay fever is it? Hope you're feeling better

birchybaby2 · 06/05/2016 10:03

Morning ladies. Struggling to keep up with you all. Loving being off work today, the sun shining and having gone to bed at 9 last night feeling quite awake!! Primark bargains had yesterday - 2 nighties, one buttons top to bottom for only £5 for them both. Put in hospital bag along with some cheap big pants from there too. Don't mind throwing them away if soiled then. Trying to get organised but still having a car seat dilemma. Has anyone bought a new isize baby seat? Want an isofix base too. With maxi cosi price shoots up from £200 to £400 if get the newest model. Right folks have a lovely day, I'm going to be lazy and catch up with one born every minute from the other night and finish sewing buttons on a baby cardi. Chores can be done later!!! Xx

tams13 · 06/05/2016 10:13

fifi glad all was well in the end. Must have been worrying though. At least it was only the baby being stubborn!

birchy yes, we've gone for an i-size seat. Planning on more than one baby (although we'll see how the first one goes) so thought it was worth getting now. We went with the maxi cosi pebble plus with the two way fix base. Got it cheaper than full price though because we went to a discount pram shop near us. We bought the pram and car seat in a bundle so only had to pay a small amount extra to upgrade to the i-size seat and they did a little discount on the base. That base can be used with the new pearl when baby is big enough too and will stay rear facing long enough to be ok with the newer regulations.

Sounds like you've got a lovely day planned! Still need to catch up on one born but saw the second episode of the five star babies programme last night. Will be thinking enviously of you while I'm sat in work today.

Only 10 weeks left until edd now!
