Kaytee i had that the other week. It seems to have just stopped. I put it down to another "perfectly normal" things.

Is anyone doing anything nice this weekend?

GoingLoopyQuickly · 16/04/2016 20:23

I signed up to a pregnancy pilates course which starts tomorrow for 6 weeks. I am quite looking forward to it.

tams13 · 16/04/2016 21:06

Have you tried olive oil kaytee? Not had the problem myself but read about olive oil being good for lots of things like this and as a baby moisturiser. Something someone told my mum too was cornflour. She'd recommended it as an alternative to nipple cream. The lady said she had used it when she'd bf and that it had been better than nipple cream. No idea if it's true but worth a go maybe!

Vikkijayne2507 · 17/04/2016 11:47

My baby is moving loads and loads not just kicking but turning and I can see him doing it so clearly it's do different from last time. He's also awake a lot which again very different I think I'm going to have s very active newborn when with ds1 he slept loads first 2-3 week's. Then the craziness started

3rd trimester started yesterday 28+1

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 17/04/2016 11:53

Vikki- I love feeling and watching the turns and whatever else hes doing! I feel that more than kicks now, although when he kicks he really goes for it!! Pregnancy is such a wonderful thing so fascinating Grin

primarynoodle · 17/04/2016 14:11

The last week have been definitely able to feel baby from the outside which is lovely for dp :)

Mar has your movement picked up?

Dowhatyoulove123 · 17/04/2016 14:13

Went and did some pregnancy yoga this morning and the little madam was kicking up a storm Grin not quite sure she understands we are suppose to be relaxing!

I've my next check up this afternoon (weird on a Sunday but I'm abroad), so excited to find out how she's doing in there!

Cookiesandcoffee · 17/04/2016 20:40

It's been quiet on the thread - I hope everyone has been out having lovely weekends.

going hope the Pilates went well

elliz sounds great! The nanny was my favourite! I'm also glad they pointed out the medical care was basically the same, it's literally a glorified hotel for the rich who want the label.

kaytee hope the nipples survived and aren't causing you too much pain and discomfort

vikki lots of movements here too. Despite anterior placenta. I'm sure he's more active than DD2 who was very chilled

Been thinking of you mar hope things have picked up and all is well

dats · 17/04/2016 20:45

Anyone else having a lazy quiet baby??

I get movements every day, pretty much in a pattern, but no kicking up a storm or really going for it. Occasionally it'll do the pushing thing where I can see one side of my bump sticking up higher, but it doesn't feel like it's turning. I'm not concerned as nothing has changed, plus DD was the same - but just wondered if I was the only one!

In other news - I wish this bloody heartburn would just do one! It's really bothering me today. I have decided not to just put up with it this time. Last time nearer the end, I had to sleep sitting upright and regularly woke up in the early hours gagging on acid, it was grim. So when I go for my 28w gubbins at my GP surgery I'm going to ask for omeprazole. If I can pronounce it Grin

I've had such a lovely weekend. Yesterday went to visit family for belated birthday stuff for DD, then today cheered on a couple of friends in the local marathon, found a lovely new play park, had a picnic lunch on the beach and did loads of gardening. I am now on the sofa with a hot water bottle on my back, while DP finishes making dinner. And trying to summon up the energy to go and get the Gaviscon!

Hope you all had good weekends, too. Mar especially.

KayTee87 · 17/04/2016 20:47

cookies a warm bath really helped!
mar hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

Didn't do too much this weekend, got my nails, toenails & eyebrows done fri after work, Saturday afternoon went to a bbq (was a bit chilly), today stayed in all day waiting for a delivery that never showed up (grr) even though they updated status on their site as delivered Angry
Gutted the weekend is over, starting to dread getting up in the morning, just not getting enough sleep atm.
Hope everyone had nice weekends

Thom80 · 17/04/2016 21:06

Sounds like everyone has had a nice weekend.
I have been sleeping shockingly bad. On Friday night I was awake every hour pretty much on the hour. I seem to need the toilet all the time. I don't want to stop but thought I might slow down before bed. I am also paranoid about sleeping on my back now & have been trying to sleep on my left side. That is not helping either. Is anyone experiencing that? As a result I cancelled going out for dinner on Saturday night.
Kaytee - I love the idea of a mani / pedi. I am going to book one in on Saturday.
mar - hope it all goes well tomorrow and will be thinking of you.

BelOfTheBall79 · 17/04/2016 21:46

I like the idea of a bit of pampering too. Just got an offer text through from a spa near me so will phone tomorrow.

Bad sleeping happening here too. So annoying. Am basically going to bed now so that if I wake up early tomorrow I will still have had some good sleep. Have some big meetings tomorrow and Tuesday so need to be awake at the very least!

Have my consultant check up tomorrow too.

Mar hope all goes well tomorrow x

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 17/04/2016 21:59

mar good luck for your scan tomorrow. I hope the movements have picked up over the weekend

thom I'm having exactly the same problems with sleep at the moment it's shockingly bad waking up 5/6 times per night - usually to pee then lying awake afterwards. The little one also has a pattern of lots of movement between 4-4:30 am every day without fail - enough to wake me up and then I'm up until it's time to go to work by which point I'm just shattered.

Constipation wise I've discovered these amazing fresh smoothies from itsu and pod which I've started having every lunchtime - gets everything "moving"

At the risk of sounding vain by introducing this topic I'm thinking of getting a postnatal corset type thing to help my stomach shrink back to size after birth - been looking at the belly bandit in mothercare but it seems a bit pricey. Has anyone used one of these types of post natal belly bands before? If so any recommendations for which one?

Thom80 · 17/04/2016 22:32

Alltgegoodnames - I have been thinking of getting some sort of waist trainer / corset for afterwards as well. Haven't done any research yet though. Will take a look & let you know if I come up with anything good.

Mar19901 · 17/04/2016 22:41

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

I'm sorry I haven't been active I had some light bleeding on Saturday morning with period like cramps so fearing the worst went into hospital they kept me in until this morning but thankfully baby is ok and bleeding has stopped. They not sure what caused the bleeding so they still want me to have the scan tomorrow. Things have been a bit non existent movement wise I think I can feel flutters but not sure if I'm imagining it. Been a bit of horrible weekend for me. Hope u and all ur bumps are ok wouldn't wish this last weekend on anyone x

Has anyone got any positive news to share xx

julfin · 17/04/2016 23:07

Mar - hope all goes well tomorrow - thinking of you and keeping everything crossed.

Dat - I don't have a yardstick so don't really know what counts as quiet/lazy or lively. I don't get kicking so much as weird tumbling sensations. I feel like a washing machine, churning round. I'd say it happens several times a day but haven't started monitoring it closely. Overall he's been a very easygoing baby so far, and not caused me much trouble, so I'm hoping it continues like that beyond July!

Got back from our lovely hol in Italy last night and spent today at a family garden party for my dad's 70th which was nice. Apprehensive about going back to work after two weeks away - I wonder what mischief my mischievous ones will have been getting up to - but on the plus-side I've only got 51 days left Grin I expect my giveashitness will deteriorate rapidly Wink

Puzzle - hope you're doing ok at work. Have you managed to get them to do another workplace assessment? If you need to be able to sit down more frequently during shifts (which is totally normal at this stage in pregnancy) then you should definitely insist on it, and they will have to comply.

Ellizardo - your theatre trip sounds fab! Very civilised! I've booked a trip to the ballet for the evening after our first NCT class in June - DH really likes the ballet (unusual, I know, but I'm not complaining!) so as his belated birthday present I thought it would be a good way of sweetening the bitter pill of having to spend six hours of a Saturday at NCT (which he is really not looking forward to...)

Can't remember who was talking about pampering. Not sure if it really counts as pampering (feels more like a necessity given how my roots are looking...) but I'm looking forward to getting my hair done next week and my muff waxed.

Does anyone else find their hair needs washing much less often than normal? I guess I've particularly noticed it over the last couple of weeks because I haven't been doing my exercise like normal and therefore haven't been getting sweaty, but I feel as if I've been washing my hair only because it's the social norm rather than because it's necessary. I reckon I could leave it a week or two before it actually needed it.

Am planning to go to an NCT nearly-new sale next Saturday. Has anyone else been to one? DH is away so I'm going on my own. Not quite sure what to expect...

Hope you all have a good Monday!

julfin · 17/04/2016 23:10

Mar - just saw your message - so sorry you've had such a rotten weekend. Glad to hear baby seems ok. Wishing you all the very best and sending you virtual hugs and flowers Thanks

GoingLoopyQuickly · 17/04/2016 23:22

Cookies. Pilates went well. But I ache way more than I expected. Should help when I go to the chiropractor tomorrow about the sciatic pain I have been suffering.

Mar. Good luck with the scan. If it is any consolation I had two quite hefty hemorrhages with Ds (26wks and 29 wks) and a few slow movement moments. But all was well and I had him at home naturally at 38+4. You are in the best place.

As for personal pampering. I desperately need a hair cut but my hair dresser is on mat leave and anyone else seems to butcher my locks. So holding back for now. Hopefully she will be back at work soon. It is her third so her hands are full. Otherwise I am really getting into epilating. I can't believe I waited so long to give it a go.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 18/04/2016 06:03

Thanks Thom

mar you are definitely in the right place. Have they had the conversation with you about delivering early? Given your history maybe delivering early and some time spent in NICU may be safer if there is reduced movement and bleeding. (this is my non medicalised knowledge giving an opinion but hate to think of all the stress and worry you're going through at the moment)

In terms of pampering I've booked a mum to be pampering package at a spa near me for my first week of maternity leave (7 weeks to go) can't wait as it seems like ages since I've had anything done. There's a bit of a "forest" situation developing down below and every time I try to address it I end up looking like Edward scissor hands has had a go down there - can't see a bloomin thing past my belly so it's all just guessworkGrin

Mar19901 · 18/04/2016 06:33

Thank u for ur kind messages x

Allgoodnames- they haven't discussed an early birth yet as they seem quite happy with baby development as on scans they can monitor movement even though I'm not feeling it they have put this down to my placenta being in the way. As with the bleeding they weren't sure what caused it but they said they wanted to monitor me and baby to make sure we both ok x thankfully the doctors and midwifes I have come in contact with have been so nice and supportive so it has been making this horrible time just that bit easier x

Counting down the hours till my scan today need to see the baby for some reassurance x

tams13 · 18/04/2016 07:12

mar it sounds like a nightmare weekend for you. Hope all goes well with your scan today. If they're happy to leave baby in there for now, then hopefully they'll book in some regular scans so you can keep seeing the little one for reassurance.

julfin sounds like a lovely holiday and weekend. I'm really looking forward to ours next week. We've booked a little cottage on the Northumbrian coast and I don't really care if it rains the whole time. Just looking forward to getting away and not having to think about cleaning/decorating/furniture.

Must be lovely for those who are in single figures for weeks left in work. I've got 11 to go as I'm planning to work until 38 weeks (unless the baby has other ideas).

Loving the sound of being a bit more 'preened'. I'm a massive wimp though and give up every time I try to wax my legs at home. Really need to do something about the situation down there though. Is epilating any less painful than waxing? I'm just worried that I'll go somewhere to be waxed/buy an epilator and then cry and not use it. Sounds daft when you compare the pain of that to what's about to come though.

julfin · 18/04/2016 07:52

Tams - I epilated my legs as a teenager, then I started to wax. Nowadays I shave my legs and get my muff waxed. I could never epilate anything other than my legs - too painful. Epilating gets less painful the more you do it, and I had no real problem for my legs - but too wimpy for anywhere else. At least with waxing, it's someone else inflicting the pain - and it's quicker than epilating. Worth trying to borrow someone's epilator to try it out before you invest...?

When's your due date, Tams? I've also got 11 weeks (minus a few days off eg for bank hols / weddings) until mat leave at 38 weeks. I'm due on 18th/19th.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 18/04/2016 08:25

I thought epilating was going to be much worse. I do have fine hair though. Ut in the bikini area I try to keep things taught and suck up the discomfort. Once you have dobe it once or twice it is just about keeping on top of things every couple of weeks. The low maintenance is one of my favourite things about it.

Bluebell20 · 18/04/2016 08:34

Mar so sorry to hear you've had such a scary time. Really hope all goes well today for you.

mini I eat a very high fibre diet and am suffering from constipation regardless. Drink lots of water, and my midwife suggested a dose of Lactulose.

tams I normally wax my legs myself which does make me wince, but I went and had a professional full leg strip wax done last week and it didn't really hurt - I think firstly because the wax is warm and secondly because someone else is doing it. You could always book in for a half leg and see how it goes? I wasn't brave enough for a bikini wax though! Might do that next time.

I had my first really uncomfortable evening yesterday. I'd been visiting friends and family this weekend and had done a lot of sitting on sofas, and by the time I was in the car ready to go home last night my back was hurting, my bump felt tight as a drum, and my buttocks were going numb no matter how I sat in the car during the seemingly endless two hour journey! The relief when I crawled into bed was immense!

Picked up a load of baby stuff from brother-in-law, too, which means I can actually start putting a hospital bag together now... Which is good as I am 30 weeks tomorrow - three quarters of the way there!

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 18/04/2016 09:18

Mar sorry to hear about your rough time, I really do hope baby starts kicking away soon for you! Good luck with your scan today!

Today is OHs birthday! I would love to say we are doing something lovely, but we are both working today, however we did have a lovely evening with his mum, dad, his two sisters (twins!) Their other halves and brother. We went out for Nandos (none of them have ever had it before!!) and then done a bit of bowling. Im really competitive so I couldnt sit out, so I used an extremely light ball, was the first to get a spare, the ONLY one to get a strike and came 3rdGrin us pregnant ladies can still do it Wink
