Come on show yourselves.

choudru · 12/06/2007 11:48

Ooooh Daisy - you're not helping me much. Like you, I have a DS and I am kidding myself that I don't mind what sex this baby is, but when I hear mothers gushing over little baby girls, I realise I am DESPERATE for a girl!

I want to buy pink things too!

She sounds like a cutie and I WANT ONE.

Which is why I have to find out at the scan a week today. If it is a boy (which I have a feeling it is) then I need a few months to get used to the idea.

Was only planning on having 2 children so this is probably my last chance unless I change my mind in a few years.

Sounds like you're a lot more relaxed with second baby - was hopingg that would be the case.

You lucky woman!

betsycoe · 12/06/2007 13:09

Hi Choudru,
I'd convinced myself that I'm having a boy so was in shock when the sonographer said she's a girl. You never know you might be in for a surprise too!

Good luck at the scan next week!!

choudru · 12/06/2007 13:51

Thanks for the words of encouragement Betsy - I hope you're right!

On a serious note, I do just want a healthy baby and realise that there are a lot more things to worry about than the sex.

But you ladies know where I'm coming from It would just be so perfect to have one of each flavour.

Daisy - I had an e-cs with DS as well. Did you choose elective cs for personal reasons or did they take that path because you already had an e-cs?

Also - did they cut in exactly the same place i.e. over the previous scar?

choudru · 12/06/2007 13:52

When I say e-cs I mean emergency cs by the way.

lulalullabye · 12/06/2007 14:13

Choudru, I wanted a boy , as have a girl and only planning on having two. When we were told she was a pink one, I was a bit gutted but now I think it's great, all girls, dh will be outnumbered. he says he's not bothered though.

Daisyboo, congrats on new arrival. Jealous that she's out. Hopefully ours will be early !!

daisyboo · 12/06/2007 17:41

choudru...i was hoping for a natural birth, but didn't want to go over my dates and need to be induced. thy told me that if i went into labout spontaneously it would be 70-80% likely I'd deliver normally, but if I was induced, it would be 80% likely I'd need another c-section. After weighing up the pros and cons, we decided the elective would be best, but were hoping for a spontaneous labour before the section date. I wanted them to wait until say a week after my due date before booking the c-section, but was told that protocol at St James's dictates that electives are carried out in the 39th week. I think it was the right decision though, as although I've been sore and my recovery has been a bit slower than I'd hoped, I think if this had come after a mammoth labour like last time, i would have been in a far worse state.

braved the shops today and went to birstall. I managed to go from the car into next and back again, then we drove from outside next to boots where i made it from the car around the shop and back again and that was me knackered. DD and i waited for DH in the car whilst he went to toy'r'us and then the same at ikea. definately an early night if the small pooey one allows it!

daisyboo · 12/06/2007 17:42

and they used the same scar line, which is maybe why it isn't healing quite so well ?

littleoldme · 13/06/2007 16:32

Choudru - glad you enjoyed the Mela. It certainly sounded fun from our house. I though I might pop down but ended feeling rubbish and sleeping lots. I know what you mean about finding out the sex. I want to know because I want to be excitied about whatever I'm having. So yes - I know exactly where you are coming from.

Daisy - if you had a mammoth labour I would be very suprised. Haven't they been extinct for sometime? Imagine giving birth to a mammoth - those tusks

daisyboo · 13/06/2007 18:47

.....she's hairy enough to be one though, with her little tufty ears!!

littleoldme · 14/06/2007 09:59

Daisy - maybe I'm just voicing my own deep seated fears. My DH is not exactly un hairy

choudru · 14/06/2007 16:16

What is all this talk of hairy babies?!

Mind you DS was pretty hairy when he was born - little gorilla baby covered in down.

It came off in the first week from what I remember.

I hope I don't have a hairy daughter

Why is the weather so pants this week?

Daisy - thanks for the info. If I end up having another cs, and they cut the same scar then I hope they stitch it up neater than my last one. Vain I know but it's not a pretty scar right now and if it has to be cut again I might have to shout over the partition to 'BE NEAT!'.

How is LO doing?

littleoldme · 14/06/2007 16:32

Choudru - It began with Daisy talking about mammoth labours and spiralled down hill from there.

The weather is pants this weeks because it is better than horrible mugginess.

Wanting a neat scar isn't vain! You've got to live with it for an long time.

littleoldme · 16/06/2007 12:09

Is anybody there ???

choudru · 18/06/2007 15:56

Hi littleoldme,

I'm here! Trying to be organised this afternoon. Mainly delaying tactics to avoid looking for a new home - there seems to be nothing on the market for us right now.

How big did you say your garden was?

Hope you're managing Daisy - the first weeks can be joyous but very hard going! I'm just thinking to myself - if I can do it once I can do it again.

Not really thinking too much about how I will handle a boistrous 2.5 year old with a newborn.

It's my 5 month scan tomorrow. I (hopefully) finally find out if it's a boy or a girl!

I'm so excited I could wet myself.

Or maybe that's the pregnancy...

littleoldme · 18/06/2007 18:53

Hello Choudru ,
Glad to know you are there. I like this thread, I'd hate it to fizzle out.

House hunting is a pain - particularly in North Leeds where things stay on the market for all of ten mins.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Very exciting

I'm procrastinating too; I've got a pile of GSCE marking to do and I CBA. I asked for 500 - seemed like a good idea the time.

At least if I get them all done we'll be able to get the hall, stairs and landing plastered. How sad am I ???

choudru · 18/06/2007 21:11

It is nice to have control over earning a bit of extra cash. Heaven knows it comes in useful once babies arrive!

Actually I have no idea what CBA is - am assuming it is some respectable way of earning a bit of extra money. You could be talking about prostitution for all I know!

I am gradually realising how crazy the north leeds market is...

littleoldme · 19/06/2007 18:17

Soz - I like the idea that CBA is a respectable way or earning money. In our house it actually means ' can't be ars*d'. The DH and I spent spent 9 months cycling around Oz Nz and Canada. By the time we got back no one could understand us because we contantly talked in acronyms. That's what comes of living in tent with one person for company.

The cash will def come in handy. I might start charging a fee for each person who thinks it's ok to touch my bump without asking . I'll get a fortune then.

I real feel for you with the house thing. I'll have word with my friend who has a couple of properties she rents. She might some contacts you could use or know of bargain areas - such as they are round here. Where are you looking ?

lulalullabye · 19/06/2007 19:02

Hello littleoldme and choudru. We have a huge dilema with the north leeds property market.

This house that we are supposed to complete on next week has come in 30k under asking price. The property is not worth paying that amount for, and we would be stupid to do so. It is so fustrating.

So the end result is that unless they drop by that much, we aint buying it ! Very annoying.

On a different subject, I am planning a home birth with a pool. we hired the pool and it arrived last night. It's quite big, but now I am ready, the baby can come, please !!!!! Now.

choudru · 19/06/2007 21:33

Lula - sorry about the house. It is so annoying - especially when buying. And more especially when pregnant - there's something about wanting to have a cosy home to bring baby into.

Littleoldme - we are looking in the Roundhay area. Have seen properties on Lidgett Lane, Kedlestone Road etc. Quite like the sound of Talbot School so would like somewhere close to there.

If you can find any leads then I would be eternally grateful.

Looking for 3 bed unfurnished by the way.

Lula - I'm so jealous about you havng a WB They won't let me have one because of previous complications. But seriously - would be very interested to know your first hand thoughts on it. It is supposed to be much less painful.

I had my scan today by the way - Apparently I'm expecting a lovely little DD to match my (sometimes) lovely little DS.

Am very chuffed

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 21:42

just popping in between boobs.....not been posting much. I thought the market had settled down a bit in Leeds?

went out with baby in pram today for first time....nowhere exciting...just the school run. ds was so thrilled and it took me ages as everyone had to have coo at dd....made me feel very proud!

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 21:53

congrats on the scan choudru....cross posted!

littleoldme · 19/06/2007 21:59

Glad you made it out Daisy - sounds like things are a bit less sore.

I'm logging off now or I won't get any papers done.

Choudru - I'll see what i can do. Have you had a look in the Allerton Granges and Stainburns. Slightly more towards c/a but near the park and Gledhow Valley Woods- also quiet. Talbot has a good rep but is v tough to get in to unless LOs are in nursery. I've got freinds whose kids are V happy at Gledhow.

elkiedee · 19/06/2007 22:16

Congratulations Daisy,

Hadn't realised this thread had picked up again, will try and pop back in from time to time

Good luck to those of you house hunting. Am in London feeling homesick again hearing all this talk of Leeds, I was brought up in Woodhouse and Headingley, though will probably be looking west if I achieve my ambition of moving back up from London in the next few years. My mum lives in Ilkley and I want a bigger property than my current two bedroom terrace, so it needs to be an affordable area which is accessible by public transport to Leeds city centre and Ilkley.

betsycoe · 20/06/2007 14:50

Congratulation Chodru,
It is good to hear that I'm not the only one convinced they were having a boy to be prooved wrong!!

Lula - I'm also booked in for a home water birth. Is this your first? Who did you book the pool through? You will have to let me know if you have any tips after the big day!

lulalullabye · 20/06/2007 19:19

choudru, congrats on the dd. I still feel I need to wait until ours is born to be sure, although I have bought a few pink things.

Betsycoe, this is my second, and first in hosp with induction etc etc, so hoping for a better ride this time.

Pool booked with aquabirths in Bradford. Approx 250 to hire, but is a rigid pool and very impressive. People at company very nice. Also bought a couple of feeding bras from them. Brand is Bravado, but they are the most comfortable bras I have ever worn, and they give you a really nice shape too. Top tip !!

Elkiedee, where abouts in London are you. We lived Muswell Hill area for about 3yrs. Dh born and bred there.
