I think there are a few of us due this year from the Leeds area.
Come on show yourselves.

choudru · 19/05/2007 16:28

Am I allowed to admit at this point that since I left work when DS was born, I have become an avid watcher of neighbours?

Oh the shame

When is our first Leeds Bloomers baby due?

littleoldme · 19/05/2007 17:24

Choudru - I've been a Neighbours addict since Todd died in 1991 and the whole sixth form bunked off to watch it.

It's my biggest regret that whilst in Melbourne I didn't go and visit Ramasy Street. The DH - then DP - threatened to burn my passport if I did.

Embrace the shame

choudru · 19/05/2007 18:18

Well I'm just glad Karl and Susan are back together. I was well traumatised when they split up.

I thought - if it can happen to them, then none of our relationships are safe...

littleoldme · 19/05/2007 20:53

I know what you mean . he's such a sensitive man. Multi talented too - he is after all Erinsborough's top Obs and Gyne man, oncologist, GP, paediatrician, neurologist and mental health expert. All that and he still found time to entertain the kids with Ned in Oodles. Whatever will the hospital do with out him, after all he was their only doctor and Boyd's not qualififed yet.

DaisysGotABigBump · 20/05/2007 11:32

Boyd's training to be a doctor????...last time I watched neighbours he was only 10

choudra...I'm due on 10th June but booked for an elective C-Section on the 5th .....too soon, but not soon enough IYSWIM

choudru · 20/05/2007 14:34

Boyd is currently considering cheating on his wife. Not as innocent as he was when he was 10...

The 5th of June is so soon!!!

Do you know the sex?

How exciting

betsycoe · 21/05/2007 09:23

You lucky thing Daisy, the waiting is nearly over!!

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 12:26

These last few weeks have been a bit of a drag though...I've got bad sacro-iliac joint pain and can't get comfy in bed so am only sleeping about 1.5 hours at a stretch then waking up in pain...not nice, but it'll be worth it in the end

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 12:27

Oh, and we think it's a pink one (sonographer was 99% sure), but I'm saving decorating the nursery until I know for definate!!

elkiedee · 21/05/2007 21:33

This caught my attention as an economic migrant, originally from Leeds - born in the Maternity Hospital on Clarendon Road on the edge of the University, which later became a detox centre and is now something else, brought up in Woodhouse and later Headingley, returned as an unemployed graduate and lived at several different addresses all over Leeds 6 - now in London for 12 years and hoping to return to Leeds before my first baby (born 4 May) starts school, with the help of the equity in a very small house bought in 1998 in a then-cheap area of London.

My mum now lives in Ilkley and I don't want to nor can I afford the areas I was brought up in, but hope to move to somewhere in west Leeds.

It might take a few years but I'm definitely interested in knowing more about other mumsnet people in Leeds and surroundings.

My stepsister (her dad is married to my mum after we both grew up) has just had a baby in March, and lives in Otley, and apparently uses mumsnet too, and I know there are at least 3 people whose babies were due in April 2007 (and born in April/May) in Leeds.

littleoldme · 21/05/2007 23:35

Welcome to the thread elkiedee and well done for escaping the deep dark south.

Mmm - lovely young newly weds in Neighbours - one of them a mechanic. Anyone feel a remix of 'Especially For You ' coming on ?

Daisy _ I really think you should consider flying Dr Karl over to do your C- Section. Maybe he could sing Free As a River as he operates.

Have a nice day one and all.

choudru · 22/05/2007 11:39

Ha ha - well he is planning a trip to the UK with Susan so maybe Daisy is one step ahead of us...?

Elkie - welcome. How are you finding being a new mum?

Went into Leeds centre with DH and DS for our first proper exploration. Isn't it lovely - loads of shops in such a compact area. Can see myself wandering around there aimlessly for many hours finding places to blow the child benefit...

DaisysGotABigBump · 22/05/2007 12:43

LOL at Dr Karl....but he's only an actor.....
one of the women on my AN thread's DH grew up on a farm and has delivered sheep and cows so she feels confident about him knowing what to do in an emergency......my DH was there for my C-section, but there's no way I'd trust him with a scalpel .

Hi elkie...how's the bub? I keep meaning to drop onto your post-natal thread to see how you're all doing. Us June ladies were very interested in all those bubs being born. now it's nearly our turn, we're all starting to brick it somewhat!!

betsycoe · 22/05/2007 13:17

Hi Leeds ladies,
I had my second scan this morning and found out we are having a girl!!

I'm in shock. I was convinced she was a he. Just goes to show that women's intuition isn't always reliable...

DaisysGotABigBump · 22/05/2007 13:53

congrats Betsycoe......were they definate about it? Apparently boys tackle can be fairly well hidden so if mistakes are made, its usually saying its a girl when in fact it's a boy....so your intuition may still be correct

betsycoe · 22/05/2007 14:12

Well 'she' was being a bit shy and it took a bit of prodding on the part of the sonographer to get a good view. However, she did get a good view in the end and said that there were no apparent boy bits. She covered herself by saying that the baby wasn't in a great position so you never know...

We are playing safe and sticking to white and yellow until we know for sure.

littleoldme · 23/05/2007 10:22

Had a bit of a do yesterday. After a long and trying day at work which included running out my year 10 lesson to chuck up -I had some spotting which scared me as I'd felt quite tight and uncomfortable all day. Also I didn't expect it this late. I was in such a tizzy that i gave the surgery DHs mobile n.o for the doc to call me on. Anyway to cut a long a not V interesting story short I got an emergency appt and the heartbeart was fine. I only had my 12 week scan last week so they said all was well.

Now I just feel emotionally drained and generally bashed. Think I'm going to have long bath and listen to woman's hour.

Choudru - If you need help blowing the child benfit give me a yell. I knew there was a reason twins would be good idea.

betsycoe · 24/05/2007 13:15

Hi Little,
I hope you are feeling better today?

Make sure you put your feet up when you are watching Neighbours!

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 28/05/2007 12:22

Found this thread about a Yorshire Summer Meet-Up if anyone is interested. I'm probably going to go...well I'll try anyway, holidays etc permitting.

choudru · 29/05/2007 17:18

Thanks Daisy - will check it out.

Little will be putting her feet up on holiday as we speak - lucky cow

Am flat hunting today - renting at the moment as when we moved here in Jan, we didn't know Leeds areas well enough to commit to buying. Now we have decided to put off buying until I go back to work.

Current tenancy is up in July and we need a bigger place in preparation for the impending arrival so I need to find another place in the next few weeks!

Wonder if I can get one of those nice 7/8 bed mansions by Roundhay Park...?

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 29/05/2007 23:07

Lucky old Littleoldme....she gets away from kids in the holidays...i have to put up with mine, and at 38.5 wks PG, with an absent DH that takes some amount of patience, which I don't exactly have in abundance at the moment

There is a house on Street Lane down towards Tropical World that is completely derelict...you should maybe move in as squatters, claim squatters rights and hey presto, it'll be yours!!

Or try and find the owners and make them an offer!

At least you'll be moving before your bub is born...one of the ladies on my AN thread was getting the keys to her new place on Wednesday last week....and gave birth on Wednesday last week

choudru · 01/06/2007 14:18

How annoying to be stuggling on your own right now of all times Daisy!

Not long now - has time slowed right down now that the finish line is in sight?

I get frantic if DH is half an hour late home from work coz I want him to take over DS.

Will have to think about the squatting idea

Am surfing the internet to see what interesting things we can do this weekend in Leeds to make the most of the good weather.

Any ideas?

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 01/06/2007 16:57

Choudru....this place is really nice....

York Gate Garden

Your DS can run around to his hearts content and there's ponds and tadpoles to look at, as well as a little tea/coffee hut and lots of sun or shade to sit in.

Or alternatively Golden Acre Park is quite nice too.

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 01/06/2007 16:58

And DH will be home shortly and that'll be him for 4 weeks...give or take the odd night!

4 days (maximum) till D-Day..yikes!

littleoldme · 02/06/2007 20:48

Hello ladies. Just got back from costa del Wales. Had a fab time. Did lots of sleeping and eating (prunes mostly tmi!)
Glad to hear all is well. Daisy - not long now!!!
Choudru - if you are about on Thursday do you fancy meeting up? Thought Cafe Nero in Chapel A might be a good place. I'll be easy to spot because I am a morbidly obese 50 year old man with ketchup down my jumper and an unshaven face - I like to groom pregnant women on mumsnet in my spare time.

Bugger - cover rumbled.
