December 2016... Babies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

weechops absolutely! It's terrible, isn't it?! The bloating in less for me today, so I'm hoping that will get better.

BertieBotts · 20/04/2016 20:35

I had my hand on my stomach last night (just because...) and the wind was throwing shapes! It was most bizarre.

BertieBotts · 20/04/2016 20:39

I think I am having my first craving though. They do flavoured milk here called Müllermilch. It has all the normal flavours, strawberry, chocolate, banana, vanilla, and then they have weird ones like pistachio or banana and cherry or coconut. I wanted one this evening but didn't get to the station in time. Went past the supermarket on my way home and was SO disappointed when they only had ordinary flavours! Until I dug to the back and there was a hazelnut one Grin

Now I have made soup and a sandwich for my tea but I just want the milkshake Grin

Thisisbonkers · 20/04/2016 20:45

Nausea on and off again today. I've not eaten brilliantly either. It was my second blood test too.

Welcome to more newbies!

And have a great holiday, kippers

babyinthacorner · 20/04/2016 21:17

I FEEL SO SICK.

babyinthacorner · 20/04/2016 21:18

Never again. Never never never. The nausea is just fucking horrendous.

SouthDownsSunshine · 20/04/2016 21:20

I hear you baby. All the fucking time. I managed an apple today, that was as good as my diet got. Bed by 7.30, I don't retch if I'm lying flat.

babyinthacorner · 20/04/2016 21:28

I thought I'd cracked it when I bought some of those acupressure travel sickness wrist bands. The first day I wore them (yesterday) I felt great. Today - bleurgh. And I was off work with a poorly DD so not like I was exerting myself.
Good seems like a great idea just before and during the eating of it. Afterwards I just want to die. Or rather, not feel like I downed a magnum of champagne last night.

shopaholic85 · 20/04/2016 21:31

Oh god baby, I could have written that. I have thrown up more than I've kept down today, which isn't much. DH has suggested that I don't need to text him every time I am sick at work...Blush

kittyscot81 · 20/04/2016 22:03

I had a massive wobble last night. Last week I switched from the standard pregnacare vitamin to the max version and it took me 4 days to realise that the new box was a 2 tablet per day and not 1. I'm naturally a worrier and now I'm really stressing that I got my folic acid dose wrong. Really quite miserable about it.

barkingtreefrog · 21/04/2016 05:26

Does anyone else have insomnia? I know for me it's a side effect of the prednisolone as it started when I started the tablets, before the embryos were even in my body, but I had it in previous pregnancies as well anyway.

ChoChang · 21/04/2016 05:32

This insomnia is driving me crazy! Seem to get 3 hours or so in early on, but then woke at 12.30, 2.10, 4.15, and been properly awake since 5. I'd get up and get ready for work and go in for office opening but I drop dh for the train on my way and its too early for him. Know I'm going to be shattered by 11am again. Thinking I might take the afternoon off and see if I can get some sleep. Anyone else suffering with disturbed sleep? The nausea had also upped its game in the last 2 days but still not been sick, just feel bleugh. Still simultaneously starving tho, it's so weird!

Amazing to see some scans on here already, that 8 week one was fab! Hope those of you having repeat scans get to see a lovely heartbeat this time round.

kitty I'm a natural worrier too, but try not to stress too much about your tablet. you were still taking 1 and it was v short term so I doubt that it will be the cause of any problems. I know it's so easy to worry about everything at this stage though isn't it!

ChoChang · 21/04/2016 05:34

Ah cross post barking! Maybe it's an edd 9th December thing!!

barkingtreefrog · 21/04/2016 05:56

cho yep, it's been 4 weeks since I regularly had more than 3 hours sleep in one go and I'm just a zombie.

ChoChang · 21/04/2016 06:02

Same barking, I'm tired at work and then so shattered on an evening but don't know if that's just cos it's a normal first trimester thing, or cos I'm getting such crap sleep at night. Either way as you say makes you like a zombie.

BertieBotts · 21/04/2016 06:06

MrsJoJo - just picking up on something you said on a previous page. The NHS offers a debrief service for anyone who wants to discuss a previous birth, especially if it was traumatic or you weren't sure what went wrong etc. I don't know if they can find out much if you did it in another country but I'm sure they would do their best if you wanted this service. If nothing else, they can clarify differences between the two systems based on what you remember.

BertieBotts · 21/04/2016 06:10

Yy, kitty, I was told that actually folic acid is very excrete able, so they advise you take loads more than you actually need just in case. Plus remember a lot of ladies are vomiting yet the small amount of folic acid they retain still does its job. And anyone who isn't TTC when they get pregnant wouldn't have been taking it for the preceeding few weeks or first days of pregnancy. I think one tablet will have been fine.

MrsJoJo · 21/04/2016 07:06

Thanks Bertie! It was more traumatic due to circumstances (I knew my ex-husband wouldn't be there for me so had a friend step in at the last min but, I was petrified at the very thought of giving birth alone overseas without my mum close by
which did nothing for my blood pressure!) I also hadn't planned or wanted a section but I've since come to terms with it... I have all my notes (a very thick pile of paper) so will be having a long chat with the midwife. Things are very, very different now and I'm more realistic about the possibility of a section second time round. Plus my mum is 5 min walk away and DP has been there twice with his ex, including a home birth!

rider1975 · 21/04/2016 07:47

Cho and Barking - suffering like you. Usually I sleep like a log but must have had 2-3 hours last night and the sore boobs/nausea have been rough. Worst night so far - and then the worries kick in ofc Sad

Nuttypops · 21/04/2016 07:51

Yes to insomnia, I can't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time without waking, and that seems to get shorter as the night goes on. I remember this from last time and it did ease a bit as time went on but it is such a nuisance. DD has been ill over the last few days, and DH is away with work, so I have been up with her a few times a night which doesn't help.

Thisisbonkers · 21/04/2016 08:22

Not insomnia but I'm not sleeping as well as normal. I'm waking very early.

The nausea is really getting to me Sad . I'm trying to eat little and often and drink as much as poss. But as a PP said, never again. It's all day. Im hating every minute. And if it doesn't disappear, it really runs the risk of ruining my holiday Sad

Helbelle75 · 21/04/2016 08:32

I'm not sleeping brilliantly, maybe 5 hours a night, and waking very early. I have good days and bad days. Nausea's not kicked in here yet.

Mejse · 21/04/2016 09:12

I'm not sleeping well either, I wake up every few hours needing the toilet or having cramps from gas Blush. I haven't slept past 5am for the past week. I also feel like I have been in a boxing match or lifting something heavy, my upper arms ache soo much.

Sympathy for those who are having a hard time with nausea. I usually have quite a weak stomach and have been known to throw up due to anxiety or even from laughing too hard, so I am feeling quite lucky that the nausea hasn't been too bad for me so far.

Insertwitticismhere · 21/04/2016 09:20

Waving at babyinthacorner and Firawla

I'm also booked in at Watford. My dd was born there in March 2015 and we ended up staying almost a week. Katherine Ward wasn't brilliant but the transitional care team were utterly amazing.

Not looking forward to once more having to become an expert on Watford FCs home fixtures list Smile

swancourt · 21/04/2016 09:33

Hi there, can I join? Got my BFP yesterday - due 31st December! Just squeaked in.

I just had a miscarriage in March (it started at 8 weeks 4 days on 4th March, and went on and on and on including medical management until 31st March). So I'm a bit stunned that, having only started to ttc again on 1st April, I ovulated on 9th/10th and here I am! Very nervous, obviously - especially as I also had a chemical pregnancy before my two DDs were born so am very familiar with getting overexcited about a pregnancy before it has really taken off. I'm 33 and my DDs are 2 (3 in August) and 4 (5 in July).

I hope you are all doing well :)
