Thread #4 - TTC#1 the one where Stark joins the grads!!!!

Welcome to another riveting instalment of TTC#1 grads.

We've got new grads POAS every day just to make sure, 1st Trimesters wondering if they will be hit by the dreaded morning sickness or not, those approaching the hollowed promised land of the second trimester where all is good and the glowing will prevail... Those who have reached the second trimester and are thoroughly miffed at the lack of glowing.
We have scan photos, bizarre symptoms and the joys of baby shopping, and very importantly we now have Stark!

All are welcome on the wild gas powered ride that is TTC#1 grads Grin

Anyone else having a nightmare coming up with names? I think I might throttle OH as he's either indifferent to or doesn't like any of the names I've come up with but also hasn't come up with any of his own. Hmm

leoniethelioness · 06/04/2016 07:57

Potato - my DH largely refuses to talk about names until after the anomaly scan! We've 95% decided on Martha for a girl. His view is that we won't need to worry about boys' names if the baby is a girl! I keep thinking about it without him!

BunchOfBobs · 06/04/2016 07:59

Yay Soda! Epic news!

So exciting Pink that's how mine started, then I felt more like bubbles hen back to prods (but I did feel them from 15 weeks).

I'm expecting my nursery curtains, lampshade, two outfits, cot mattress and car seats arriving this week. Such a good post week.

Potato we had kind of chosen our boy names whilst TTC so we're set, we have two options to see which he suits best when we meet him. I love them both.

leoniethelioness · 06/04/2016 08:12

How exciting, Bunch! I'm fifteen weeks today but haven't felt anything yet. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long!

Sounds like a good stash of goodies due! Your nursery is going to look great.

PotatosMum · 06/04/2016 08:24

I think our name problem is we're both very opinionated and uncompromising about it.

Anyway, updated bump picture... I'm scared that if I'm this big at 20 weeks I won't be able to move at 40!!!

Morning all

It's 20 week scan day for us! Am excited and nervous all rolled into one!

Potato, your bump has definitely grown! It looks fab.

Mor, I've got my first aquanatal class on Monday. I'm strangely looking forward to it.

So exciting that people are starting to get baby goodies delivered!

PotatosMum · 06/04/2016 08:50

Pink good luck with your scan!!! Grin

BunchOfBobs · 06/04/2016 08:53

Potato you look amazing. I love bump photos. Here's me, I'm in ginormous ridiculously comfy jersey maternity dungarees. Hence why I look like I'm wearing something miles too big.

Pink so exciting you get to see your LO today Smile

Great bumps bunch and potato! Fab! I'm 17 weeks today and still no movement and not really a proper bump yet. Maternity clothes are just too big and look odd but I don't fit into my normal clothes any more. Impatient!

Lots of luck with your scan today pink

Sodasoda · 06/04/2016 09:28

We're finding names challenging! We have a very common surname so want to steer clear of very popular first names but I really like all the top boys names!

I think we're going to get a big book of names and go through them all. We've decided on middle names (after family) so want to make sure names go with those and our surname. As we're not finding out if we're having a boy or girl we'll need to decide on both although I'd bet good money it's a boy!

PotatosMum · 06/04/2016 09:30

Soda don't worry about not feeling baby. For first babies it's normal not to feel much/anything until 20 weeks.
I started getting definite movement at 18 and regular at 19 and it's just been increasing from there. Once it starts it'll ramp up quite quickly Smile

Pinklily1 · 06/04/2016 09:49

Soda, I also only felt something for the first time in the last few days - I'm 19+1 now.

We are set on two girls names but struggling with boys names. OH doesn't like anything I do, but can't come up with alternative suggestions either Hmm

PotatosMum · 06/04/2016 11:00

Pink are our OHs related Hmm

Morwenna1 · 06/04/2016 11:05

We have a name sorted I think Smile Had to work on DH for a while, but he's come round to it now!

I'll be unpacking everything and trying to figure out how it all goes together soon Runner! We opted for the Baby Jogger City Mini GT with car seat etc. as a bundle and saved a huge amount doing it online. John Lewis is never knowingly undersold against high street stores, but I've had really good service (so far!) through babyandchildstore.com (in case anyone is looking). I contacted them to make up a bundle as they didn't have exactly what we were after set up on the site, and they reply to emails really quickly.

Just have to get everything else sorted now!

Aquanatal was good Pink! Definitely recommend it. Feels good that I'm doing some form of exercise! And good luck with the scan today! Hope it all goes well for you.

ImpYCelyn · 06/04/2016 11:24

Soda fab news about your cervix!! That's some good growing Grin

Pink how lovely! I hope you get more today! And lots of luck for your scan!

Morwenna I've always wanted to try aquanatal, Im going to look into that. Yay for your travel system!

Potato why does your OH think Potato will be early? You're looking at 6 weeks leave at the mo, with your holiday right?

I've just found myself a project to do in those weeks. I bought some BumGenius nappies for dirt cheap as they new elastic and their Velcro is a bit crap, so I'm going to be changing elastic and replacing Velcro with poppers! I'm sure I'll have plenty to occupy myself. I might even take the opportunity to redecorate.

I like Glenn! We're sorted for a girl, but not sure for a boy. There's a couple of second choice names from the last two, but I'm not 100% now...

Bunch fab post for you! How exciting! I love big post weeks!

Great bump pics Bunch and Potato!

shelbTa · 06/04/2016 11:26

Good luck pink!

X

Planeteer · 06/04/2016 11:31

Good luck today pink!

We're also struggling with names. Have 2 girls names that we like, but currently every boys name I suggest gets vetoed and the suggestions from DH are a) rare, and b) stupid (no, we're not calling our baby Batman or Frodo).

Will get a baby name book after the scan and have more of a look! Boys do seem to be harder than girls though, I don't know why!

Loving the bump pics ladies. I'm 12 weeks now and definitely starting to show when not wearing voluminous clothes. Eek!

Co5mo · 06/04/2016 11:46

Good luck Pink. Soda I'm so pleased thing are less complicated for you.

Planet snap on the clothes/bump thing. I'm having to be creative with my work wardrobe now. I'll tell them all when the Edwards and Patau test are back next week.

Alas DH is still struggling to be creative with names. John is still his firm favourite and he can't understand why I would think George too common. I quote, after all it's a princes name! He seems to be misunderstanding common as in lots of Georges with the other definition. I really want to be able to call my child's name to get their attention without attracting the attention of the 6 others with the same name on the playground. It's just not unusual enough in our area for me to agree to it.

Mileymoocow · 06/04/2016 12:15

Hi everyone! Had my scan today, am 13+4 so now have an EDD of 8th October. Scan went well, didn't have to jiggle too much. Bloods went terribly! Almost passed out and it took 4 attempts from 2 different nurses, in the end the midwife had to do it. We had a measurement of 1.9mm which I thought was high until realised I was further on than most at the scan so baby was bigger.

Hope everyone is well, will catch up soon.

PotatosMum · 06/04/2016 12:42

Imp OH thinks Potato will be early because it's a common side effect of large fibroids and the consultant warned me it was a possibility.
Given my size he just doesn't think I'll carry to term and given how much discomfort/pain I'm already in I think I'm going to struggle with work. I'm already near tears from the pain in my back and sides by the afternoon when I'm in work.
Waiting to hear next week whether the fibroid has grown anymore, I think it has Confused

potato that sounds horrible! Is there any chance you'd have to be signed off work again?

Impressive list of due dates Grin

Pinklily1 · 06/04/2016 13:15

Glad the scan went well Miley! I think 1.9mm is good. It's was 1.4mm at 13 weeks, and she said it was only if it was over 3. something that there would be any concern.

Pinklily1 · 06/04/2016 13:15

*Ours was 1.4mm

Co5mo · 06/04/2016 17:00

1.9mm is perfect Miley. My little monkeys measurement was initially 1.6mm but after a jiggle around measured 2mm. My sonographer took me though soft signs as well so I'm pretty happy but still waiting for test results to come in.

Mileymoocow · 06/04/2016 17:21

Brilliant pink and co5mo, I did an insane amount of go ogling (as you do) so I made peace with the fact all was on!

Anyone else absolutely exhausted! I have to have an afternoon nap or I just can't go on. How do people cope at work? I could sleep on a washing line at the moment
