Congratulations Indians, lovely news!

Ellizardo · 20/03/2016 09:39

Congratulations Indians! What lovely news! Hope the moment was suitably romantic? The ring is gorgeous.

Sorry to hear about pelvis issues and other discomforts ladies. Totally feel your pain. My tonsillitis is still raging, can't believe how painful it is! Don't remember it being this sore when I was 12?! Day 3 of antibiotics and still waiting for them to actually work, sigh.

It's Ted's first birthday tomorrow! We're having a little celebration today with grandma and grandpa. He has no idea bless him.

Scase1firsttimemum · 20/03/2016 09:47

I was told I shouldnt get warnings no matter what time I called in sick but thats what they said on the phone this morning

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 20/03/2016 10:27

Hi, i hope everyone is having a lovely relaxing Sunday. I am off to acupuncture shortly followed lunch with my parents. Then back home for The Night Manager in my pjs. My back has been killing me so hoping it will help.

Cookiesandcoffee · 20/03/2016 13:06

Scase they can't give you a warning for that! If they try to please say firmly that you will be discussing it with HR. You can't help when you were sick. Would they rather you turned up and threw up in the fryer?! No! Arse holes. Really hope you feel better soon .

Sorry to hear of those suffering. My cold is starting to ease so have skived off mother duties to go to the gym. 40 mins on the crosstrainer later I hope I've sweated the last of it out. Probably not my wisest idea but couldn't stay in my sick bed another moment!

Hope Ted has a lovely birthday tomorrow elliz . First birthdays are all about the parents ha. Have a lovely little celebration today. Hope you're feeling better V soon

25 weeks tomorrow - saying 15 weeks left makes it seem sooner?!

Lulabells · 20/03/2016 17:08

Anyone else finding that they can't stop buying things?? Having a boy this time means I'm super fussy on clothes as I don't like much in the shops. So when I see something I like I buy it! What has everyone else been buying??

Hope everyone is having a nice sunday. We are celebrating selling our house and having an offer accepted on the one we wanted to buy! Grin

Congratulations Indians- fab news!

I am rather behind with this thread as i broke my iPhone on Tuesday and has taken me this long to gain access to all my accounts Angry...... excuse that my post is all about me Blush but haven't fully caught up.

Had bit of a scare this week....Was admitted to the Antenatal Triage Unit for 5 hours and underwent numerous tests as I had Abdo and what felt like cervical pain..... was really worried as that my cervix was dilating/failing. Totally fob off by my community midwife " probably a UTI, drop a sample into your GP and ill catch up with you next week" was all she said. No reasurrence! So I work next to the hospital so I thought I would pop into the Antenatal Unit, they were amazing and so lovely! Gave me a full check over. Glad to say that all is fine with pregnancy, was just a mild UTI and came down with a 24 hour stomach bug the day after..... not nice but baby is fine Smile.

Went to a nearly new sale yesterday and bought some lovely newborn clothes and have begun to sort out my baby's room - getting excited now!! 24+1 today!

pulpi · 20/03/2016 18:47

Congrats to Indians! What fantastic news!

Just got back from the Netherlands. I rode a bike through Utrecht and Delft, although after the day of cycling through Utrecht my legs were hating life!

It's DH's birthday today and he got a pretty good present: the baby kicked DH's hand and then made my bump jump.

All in all, Babymoon success!

BelOfTheBall79 · 20/03/2016 19:48

Congratulations Indians! Amazing news.

Cookies and Pulpi I am in awe of your exertions! No way I could do what you've been doing!

Scase can't believe they've said that about you being sick. After Kaytee's experience too this is making me mad about how your organisations are treating you! Angry

Had some friends over today, one has a 22 month old and the other has 9 month old twins. Think it gave me and DH a bit of 'training'. One of them brought over a bag of baby stuff though which was very lovely of her!

Getting a new car later this week. Will be sad to see mine go but as it's only got 2 seats it really isn't practical! Getting a baby 4x4 as we are pretty rural. Pick up the new car on Thursday!

Also on hols for a week from end of Thursday and can't wait...

Hope all of you have fab weeks xx

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 20/03/2016 21:42

Congrats Indians! What a lovely ring Smile

We had a nursery advice appointment at John Lewis yesterday, mainly to look at prams. We looked at the Babystyle Oyster (OK, but you need to take the seat unit off to fold really, and I wasn't keen on that), the Bugaboo Bee (I hated this one - I found it really fiddly to use and it was so low to the ground) and the iCandy Strawberry (my favourite of the three).

Since coming home though I've been thinking again about the BabyJogger City Mini. I'd discounted it because it isn't parent facing after you take the carrycot off, but I'm now wondering if that really matters so very much. It is just so much lighter and easier to fold than anything else out there. I think we need to have a play with one though before making a final decision between that and the iCandy.

tams13 · 20/03/2016 22:04

Congratulations indians!

Sounds like you really had a scare bird. Glad to hear that it wasn't anything more serious than a UTI. Still not nice though.

youandmearegoingtofallout if you've got time I'd recommend going back to a few shops and having another play with the prams you're looking at. No idea what ours will really be like until there is a small person to put in it but we thought we were set on one pram until we put it next to a different one and compared them. That ruled out what had been the favourite. Read a lot of reviews on different websites of the newer favourite and found some of the things people moaned about (hard ride and difficult to push over small sticks). Went back to the shop and dropped a few pens on the floor to try it out - it was horrible so went with a sturdier version by the same make because we liked everything else about it. Shops should let you take it apart and put it back together until you're comfortable knowing how it works too.

I don't know how some of you are still doing so much exercise! I ran for the bus the other day and it took far too long for my legs and lungs to forgive me!

julfin · 21/03/2016 00:03

Congratulations Indians!

Sorry to those of you who've been ill or had family illness/accidents. Hope recovered/recovering now Thanks

Ellizardo - happy birthday to Ted! Cake

I've been rather quiet on here lately as so busy at work. Things have been tough as one of my two deputies has been away since mid-Jan and lots of her stuff can't be delegated because there are issues within the team. So I've largely had to cover the gap myself and so not had many evenings to relax at home and keep up with the thread. But there's a new deputy starting tomorrow - can't wait!

Ellizardo I think it was you who asked after the performance procedures. Yes it went as well as could be expected thanks. It's been a long time coming (ie two years) and very well evidenced, so wasn't a shock to the individual concerned. I'm sure they'll fight tooth and nail anyway (because why wouldn't you, I guess) but I'll just deal with it as best I can.

I have been LOVING all the lists for hospital bags etc, and the tips on breastfeeding, prams etc. So so useful - thank you, experienced ladies! Please do keep this stuff coming. I've screenshotted(?) it all and will pull it into a file when I have more time.

Does anyone have advice on prams/buggies that you can run with? I know you can only start running after 6 months when the baby has decent neck muscles, but we don't want to have to change prams then.

Sorry to hear about the work problems that people have been going through. Fuming on your behalves.

Feeling more positive than in February when I was rather stressed and teary. Loving feeling the baby flutter! He really enjoys my spinning class - he turns somersaults! At times he moves about so much that I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster ride - you know that feeling where you've left your tummy at the top of the slope. Downside is he's in a constant turf-war with my bladder, and he's normally winning. Went away for the weekend and felt the need to pack some "emergency trousers". Never thought I'd be one of those people who needs emergency trousers. (You'll be pleased to hear that I didn't need to use them, ha!)

Great seeing the babygrows and other things people have bought. We've been pretty restrained so far - will probably leave most of it (well certainly the big items eg pram) til May/June, to save space until we have no choice!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Ellizardo · 21/03/2016 07:19

Thanks Cookies & Julfin - here he is, ignoring his presents and wanting Mummy's iphone instead! Can't believe it's been a year - it goes so fast you guys!!

What are people's plans for Easter? We're heading to Cornwall and I can't wait. Going to get my hair done and go for long(ish) walks and eat some fudge. I have a sneaking suspicion her inside was conceived in Cornwall...which is making me want to research some Cornish names.

Pulpi - did you get any nice Delft tiles? I have Dutch heritage and we've ordered some for our bathroom. I think they're gorgeous. Am also mega impressed about your cycling prowess (as she looks out the window to her rustbucket).

youandme - agree with tams, it's worth taking your time over this though it sounds as if you already know your parameters (height/sturdiness etc) really well. We were going to go for the Cruz and then opted for the Vista in the end for the same reasons. it's useful to have forward and back facing but I don't think essential...Ted's 90% outward facing I would say.

bel - wel jel of your new car. I have a feeling our Golf is going to start feeling VERY small when number 2 comes along. Car seats alone will take up the entire back seat!

Congratulations Indians! Wonderful news. What a lovely birthday weekend surprise. Beautiful ring too. Exciting times ahead for you Smile

Ellizardo, happy birthday to Ted!! Thanks for gorgeous pic Smile Big milestone for you as parents. Nice that there will some space between the two birthdays, sometimes they tend to cluster weirdly in families.

Kaytee sorry to hear you're still suffering with that pulled muscle, but very pleased indeed that you have your six day weekend coming up and spa treats booked. You so deserve it!

Scase I hope you feel better later and your work starts treating you better. So depressing to hear such bad behaviour. That kitten photo was so cute!!

Pulpi your babymoon sounds great. Envious!

gnat99 · 21/03/2016 08:31

Forgot to say, we just had a lovely couple of days in the Lake District where DH parents live. Really lucky with the weather, went for a walk by the sea yesterday and ate ice creams in the sun Smile Then we lounged on the sofa with the papers before our roaste lamb dinner. And I got the recliner corner of the sofa for the evening. So comfy.

Met some friends who have a one year old - they handed over a Moses basket full of baby supplies! We also acquired a cot last week so everything is suddenly starting to feel real.

Have taken this week and next off work so looking forward to a nice break. Can't relax yet though! Heading home shortly, via IKEA in Warrington... then I have to pack up and leave again first thing tomorrow morning for the airport, as we are spending Easter with my family in Ireland. Why didn't I allow myself more time in between? Such misplaced optimism, I am going to arrive there a total stretcher case.

Slightly dreading flight on my own - DH hasn't got as much holiday as me, so he's flying out and back separately. It's a short flight, but with all the blood pressure problems I've been having, I'm convinced I'll end up fainting all over the place. Fingers crossed.

Happy Monday all. Hope all the sickies feel better soon. Flowers

KayTee87 · 21/03/2016 08:55

My commute was terrible this morning :( the train was so packed I was shoved against a wall, someone elbowed me in the stomach going past and several people fell on me when the train stopped. I actually feel really shaky :(

elliz I used to get tonsillitis it's horrible, think it can be worse as an adult.
thom do you think acupuncture is worse a shot for a sore back?
lula congrats on the house news!!
bird thank god everything I ok. How scary.
22+2

KayTee87 · 21/03/2016 08:56

SpeakNoWords · 21/03/2016 09:39

KayTee87 that commute sounds awful! Does your train company do those "priority" seats at all? I had a train commute when I was pregnant with DS1, and I used to use those seats all the time. I only had to ask someone to move once, and I was hugely pregnant, so when they turned around to (possibly) argue, they moved straightaway when faced with my massive bump in their face.

KayTee87 · 21/03/2016 09:43

Speak they do have priority seats but it was so busy I wouldn't have even been able to get to them. People crammed down the aisles and right agaist the doors and everything. Quite a common occurance, Scotrail put on 6 carriage trains and lunchtime and 3 carriage trains at rush hour. A 3 year old could run a better train service.

KayTee87 · 21/03/2016 09:44

At lunchtime * autocorrect on this phone drives me nuts

Cookiesandcoffee · 21/03/2016 09:49

Aww happy birthday Ted! He's so scrummy. Have a lovely day elliz. Trip to Cornwall sounds lovely. Talking of conception, this baby was 100% conceived in Morocco.. Don't think we'll be popping back anytime soon Sad
julfin sounds like you've been super busy, hope you manage to get some rest time in now. You need to recoop!
youandme I second going to look at different places. For example the system I ended up with for DD2 isn't sold at many retailers but really ticked my boxes. And go back and try different situations out like others said. Anywhere good will be happy to oblige. My bit of personal advice would not to be swayed by what you want/need for a short period of time, think about the long term. Eg how long do you need the carry cot, how long do you need parent facing.. If that makes sense
Exciting new car purchase bell
pulpi good cycling efforts! Hope you had a lovely time away on your baby moon :)
bird so glad everything is ok! What a relief.
Always good to get these things checked out
lula I know what you mean! I've been ok for the last few weeks, I find it goes in splurges! I've got a stash of babygrows in a few sizes and I'm on the look out for some more 'summery' bits. Those dinosaur dribble bubs are amazing!
kaytee that sounds like a very stressful commute indeed. People are so careless in their world and don't stop to notice anyone else. It's like you need a flashing light on your head. I hope you had a chance to sit down and calm a bit / drink some water before you started work

I'm on a nursery mission this week! The wall is going up to make the nursery this weekend, so I'm in nesting mode buying stuff I don't need like furniture knobs online. Just wish I wasn't working all week. It really is becoming more real, as we haven't had a 'room' for him until now. we are converting a big double room into two smaller rooms to keep a playroom (keep toys separate from bedroom) and also means all DCs will have similar bedroom sizes.

SpeakNoWords · 21/03/2016 09:59

ScotRail do sound hopeless KayTee, sorry it's such as stresfull journey. I guess there's not much you can do when faced with such ridiculous overcrowding Sad

GoingLoopyQuickly · 21/03/2016 10:45

Kaytee that commute sounds awful. Get yourself some armoured plating with spikes and the watch people keep their distance. It could be the next design of the baby on board signs.

I am still trying to do excercise but my legs don't seem to want to go in the same direction as the instructed. I had to leave total toning after 10 minutes because I just wasn't making any sense. So now I feel more shitty. Told myself I would go in the gym but tbh I am not sure I can be arsed. This pregnancy is taking such an emotional toll on me. I really didn't expect it.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 21/03/2016 10:47

Kaytee you aren't having to commute into Queen Street are you? Must be hideous now that they've closed the tunnel.
