I'm 32+1 today and starting to feel much bigger although I also have days where I feel bigger than others! We got married on Saturday and I felt quite big in my dress even though it was stretchy! I think it also depends on what I am wearing and whereabouts the baby is hiding.

I can't wait to sleep on my stomach again either Nicky finding sleeping and tossing and turning is getting uncomfortable now.

Glad you enjoyed your NCT class Can't Is it two sessions that you have? We've got class 3 of 6 tonight although the 6th class is a reunion after we've had the babies so I guess it's really class 3 of 5! We're learning about labour positions tonight so poor DH has to carry my birthing ball down the road to get there! I know what you mean about feeling emotional. I started my Natal Hypnotherapy CD yesterday and ended up in floods of tears where it talks about meeting your baby and bonding with your baby.

Parsnip I admire your ability to cope with the night shifts! Definitely finding work is getting harder each day and I just want to sleep rather than be at my desk! I can't imagine what it must be like doing night shifts.

ODog · 07/03/2016 14:28

Congratulations frozen. I'm sorry I completely forgot about your wedding. Hope it was a lovely day and I'm sure you looked lovely.

It's my last day at work tomorrow. Only in for half a day to drop off equipment really so I'm going to meet a friend for lunch and hit Westfield after. Planning to start buying a few hospital bag bits while I my mum has DS.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 07/03/2016 14:34

Congratulations frozen! I completely forgot it was this weekend too! Hope you enjoyed the day :)
Our NCT course is just 2 days of 10-4, plus a morning with the breastfeeding specialist and then a reunion afterwards. It just went so fast on Sunday! I'm no use at all at work today, I'm totally just holding out until I think the builders will have left the flat so that I can go home....

GrouchyKiwi · 07/03/2016 15:04

Congratulations, frozen!

MW came over this morning to talk about the home birth. I'm excited about it now and just hope that they're not busy at the time so I don't have to go into the birthing centre! DH is now totally on board after realising he doesn't have to worry about driving to the hospital, finding a park or stressing about whether we'll get there on time. Wink

Hi everyone sorry ive been awol, ive managed to get back to work which is crazy busy, never finish on time and feel exhausted! Definitely been hit by the tiredness!! 30 weeks today :)

I'm just trying to catch up but huge congrats to frozen on your wedding, hope you enjoyed every minute of your special day.

cant ive just had an offer Pop up on my facebook for a uppababy vista now £525 (not sure how that compares to where you went) it's a limited time offer but if you're interested check out www.discountbabyequip.co.uk I know people who have bought from them, from their store and they are genuine- someone on MN asked about them too and got themselves a bargain. There's a lovely Icandy on offer too (not that I should be looking as we've already ordered ours...)

GunShotResidue · 08/03/2016 09:55

Congrats Frozen!

I've got my booking in appointment tonight, need to transfer all my notes over, they had an electronic system at my old doctors so I need to copy out all the printed notes into the booklet.

DD didn't come into bed with us until almost 7 this morning, which was amazing, but she insisted on bringing 5 teddies with her, so we were a bit squashed!

frozensmoothie · 08/03/2016 10:59

Thanks everyone! We had a lovely day, very relaxed and informal Smile

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 08/03/2016 19:25

wow southy thank you SO much for that, what a gem!! spent some time checking it out last night then went to John Lewis today just to see the Vista in the flesh again - only to discover that they too are offering the red one for £525 (well, a penny under...). It's not advertised as a sale item or price match but the staff hadn't even realised it was being sold at a different price (normally is £699 so the saving is huge!). Thanks so much for the amazing tip-off!
Had my whooping cough jab yesterday and been feeling awful ever since - really dizzy and light-headed so work has been a bit of a challenge so far this week. I keep meaning to leave early (like - at lunchtime) and then before i know it it's 5.30 and I'm still there. agh! on the sofa now waiting for DP to get home, hope he's in the mood to look after me as I don't think I can stand up to sort out any food for us both tonight..

Southy84 · 08/03/2016 20:11

Glad you had a lovely day frozen :)

Hope your appointment went well gunshot and yay for the lie in!

That's ok no problem cant its definitely a good website to keep an eye on, what colour are you thinking of going for? I had my whooping cough jab last week and wow was that painful!! Couldn't move my arm for two days and it's still tender now! Ive heard of people feeling really ill after it too, take it easy- early night for you!

Since Saturday my hip and back have flared up again, just as I'm getting back into work :( im feeling so down, not sure how I'm going I make it through the next few weeks, need to though as I need the money!

ODog · 08/03/2016 20:29

I've officially finished work for potentially the next 2 yrs! Whoop woop!

Bought a few bits for my hospital bag today too. I'm feeling super organised but I think I need to be with toddler in tow. No indulgent pre-baby mat leave this time....

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 09/03/2016 09:46

southy at that price difference I am going for the red one! Excited that it's decided now!! Pretty sure we will get a city mini later too but for now this seems like the right decision. My arm is still feeling sore and I feel a bit coldy but think I was already like that before the jab!

And odog woohoo on starting mat leave! I am totally coasting at work now (going in late, leaving early) but don't feel capable of doing any more!! Hoping to get my mat cover confirmed by the end of this week (it's really dragging on!) which will make me feel better about everything!

ODog · 09/03/2016 20:05

Feeling so much pressure tonight. Am I right in saying that in subsequent pregnancies the baby can pop in and out of being engaged from early on? That's what it feels like anyway.

GunShotResidue · 09/03/2016 21:47

I think I've read that too ODog. I keep feeling pressure, DD's forceps birth damaged my pelvic floor so I keep worrying about some kind of prolapse, bit I'm probably bring over-anxious!

I need to get my whooping cough vaccine, we moved when I was 28+1 and I'm still waiting to be on the system here. The midwife booking in went well though :)

GrouchyKiwi · 09/03/2016 22:04

Yes, they definitely do pop in and out of engagement. And I found with DD2 that she didn't engage properly until I was in labour, whereas DD1 engaged at 37 weeks after she turned around from being transverse.

OP posts:
ODog · 10/03/2016 20:46

I think she might have got herself at least very head down last night. So uncomfy but back to normal today. DS didn't engage until established labour so I don't really know what it feels like. This baby feels very bony though. Kicks are starting to be uncomfortable at best and painful at times.

DS is teething again too at the moment and had the most horrific nappies today. Most requiring baths to clean him up so we have been stuck in all day and he has been particularly hyperactive. I'm hoping these last teeth pop through soon so I don't have two teething babies double the horrendous nappies

GrouchyKiwi · 10/03/2016 20:51

How old is your DS, ODog? DD2 is 19 months and working on some more teeth but she only has 10 or so. Her nappies are awful at the moment too, poor wee thing.

My Braxton Hicks have been going crazy lately. I'm sure they woke me up the other night, and my bump was as hard as a rock, as well as not being round like it normally is, more uneven. I'd really like not to have 10 weeks of that!

MW told me yesterday that my iron levels are starting to dip. They're 107 and they get worried when they drop below 105. And if I go below 95 then I can't have a home birth. I'm already taking Pregnacare so I'm upping consumption of all things iron-containing, which means lots of eggs, leafy greens and red meat. Yum!

OP posts:
ODog · 10/03/2016 21:24

DS is 21mo but I think he only has his 4 back molars to go now. The others all seem to be there. Teething nappies in toddlers are just the worst. Was so thankful that morning sickness had passed when I was cleaning up the poo, the child, the clothes, the bath, everything else that had been pooed on today. Grim!

Good luck main ting those iron levels. I think in my area they are only checked at booking in and 28 weeks. Mine has dipped a bit (which is normal) but they were happy for me to control with diet. I don't see how they will check though as I'm sure they don't do another set of bloods.

Everythinggettingbigger · 11/03/2016 14:15

Hi Ladies! New to the thread! (Hope that's ok?!) 29+3 with DS2 due 24th May!! Already have DS1 who is 5...anyone else with a biggish gap?

Grouchy Been having horrendous Braxton hicks since week 26....actually got monitored for pre-term labour at 26+5 as had been woken up in the night by the pain too!! Still going on and off!

ODog · 11/03/2016 14:22

Welcome everything.

Wow braxton hicks that intense must have been a bit scary. I thought I was having them earlier on in this pregnancy but in hindsight I think it was indigestion Blush.

How is everyone else today?

It's a lovely spring day here today, I'm just waiting for DS to wake up so we can get out and enjoy it!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 11/03/2016 14:23

Hi everything and welcome! Have seen you around on other threads so nice to see you here too!

Just been for the breastfeeding session of my NCT and I've got the rest of the day off work, but got the builders at home so I can't go there and sleep which is what I really need to do! Good thing it's a lovely day, so I'm having a wander in the sunshine trying not to think about how tired I am!

Everythinggettingbigger · 11/03/2016 14:27

They were registering as contractions on the monitors but everything else was normal (cervix closed) and the "contractions" were quite erratic so just got told to go home and go back if they progressed into a pattern! Tend to kick off around lunch and tea times so now thinking it might have something to do with eating which is strange!

Oh the lovely indigestion....been constant for about a week now!

It looks gorgeous here (Liverpool) but not actually been out just looking out of my office window, was frosty when we got up this morning though! Is it warm by you? I may have to go outside to investigate!

Anyone else working part time and wishing the next few weeks away to hurry up and finish? I finish at the end of April, 7 weeks to go it cant come quick enough!

ODog · 11/03/2016 14:45

It was really frosty here in Essex this morning but in the sun it's almost warm enough to not wear a coat.

I worked 2 days a week from home up until this week but I'm finished now. I had a lot of annual leave owing from my last Mat leave that I needed to use by the end of March so not actually starting mat leave until 11th April.

How was your BF session cant? I found the nct and Nhs BF advice to be somewhat 'optimistic' rather than 'realistic'. They should really just say it's bloody hard work (and can hurt even if you are doing it right!!) but bloody worth it in the end.

Everythinggettingbigger · 11/03/2016 15:10

Hi cant!

I have a breastfeeding consultant coming out to my house at 38 weeks, not really sure what to expect! I didn't BF my first and now I have had breast augmentation not even sure I will be able to! How did it go? Did you find it was worth it?

Very jealous ODog....hope the weather warms up properly for you so you have a good few weeks of enjoying the sun too! Technically I will not be starting mat leave until Friday 13th May but I'm using some leave and finishing on 29th April.

Just waiting for a friend to come back to work, he was hoping to find out what sex their baby is today, baby number 3 and they have 2 boys already! Is this both of your second too?

GrouchyKiwi · 11/03/2016 16:37

Hi and welcome, everything. I had something similar at 24 weeks with my first baby and ended up on bed rest and in & out of hospital for the next three months. They did a fetal fibronectin test which was positive so had to take the tightenings more seriously than they otherwise might have. Hope yours settle; they're not much fun! It helps to think of them as getting your uterus into shape, I've found. Wink

Good idea to have a breastfeeding consultant come to visit. Like ODog, I wish NCT and others would paint a more realistic view of how breastfeeding feels and how much work it can be, but maybe they don't want to put people off. I found it so rewarding, though.

Hope you had a lovely time outdoors with your DS, ODog. Have his nappies settled?

Just back from visiting my osteopath - without the girls for a change as a friend could come look after them; osteo seemed a bit sad not to see them! She did some more acupuncture and I can tell you it's really weird to have a couple of needles stuck into your mons pubis. Am quite sore now so it's takeaways for dinner tonight!

ODog · 11/03/2016 19:31

Nappies are back to norm today thanks grouchy. Although we were meant to be seeing some nct friends but some were a bit funny when I mentioned he'd had bad nappies yesterday so we stayed away. Think they were paranoid about catching it despite reassurance it was definitely just teething . Never mind. We had a lovely day at Rhyme time at the library and feeding the ducks!
