Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I can't believe how behind I've got on this thread.

missi great news on Zach coming home! I'm really happy for you all after everything you've been through. Lovely that your ds is bonding with the new baby Smile.

scared are they planning the induction today then? Good luck with the birth.

marmite yy to the itchy bump. I've also developed an attractive red rash on mine Hmm. Sooo hard not to scratch!

I hope your babies turn by themselves soon crispy and ffaux

111 are useless dobby, they really need to sort their system out. What a waste of a Saturday and so much unnecessary worry for you.

Hope everything is OK with pug...

I gave dh a tiny box of chocolate hearts this morning. We don't usually bother but I'm hoping he'll feel guilty enough for not getting me anything that he'll take over dinner and putting ds to bed when he gets in from work so I can have a rest!

TriJo · 14/02/2016 09:43

Best of luck scared!

DH is away until this evening visiting family in Ireland so not much romance here for the day that's in it! I do have steak and a couple of bottles of a beer he really likes for when he does get back but it could be quite late...

IndomitabIe · 14/02/2016 10:49

Well, DH has just fucked off to do potentially dangerous activities and lots of drinking (stag do, on Valentine's Day, in advance of the wedding which is on our anniversary, when I will be either hugely overdue or will have a newborn Hmm).

It's just me and DS for two days. Which means my usual bored-prolific posting is going to be even more boring and prolific! Sorry folks! Can we have some live labour posting or something please?!

You're safe for a couple of hours, we're off to see the Snoopy film this morning!

docmcstuffins1 · 14/02/2016 11:01

Fantastic to hear Zach is home Missi, and your DS sounds adorable with him.

Scared how exciting you will get to meet your DD soon. Glad you're being well looked after, and I'm sure you will get all the support you need to overcome any obstacles you both face (though like everyone has said, the likelihood is that she'll not need much if any help).

Dobby don't get me started on 111, they are useless! I read an article recently that of the 450,000 extra attendances in the last year, 220,000 were inappropriately advised by NHS 111 to go to A&E and for another 222,000, an ambulance was dispatched to them by NHS 111. It's no wonder A&E's are struggling!

DH and I haven't done anything thing for Valentine's Day for years. This morning he said he didn't see the point as he loves me every day, not just when some companies tell him he should - so sweet Grin

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday, sun is shining here so going to go for a stroll down to the shops to get something for tea and maybe some chocolate.

MyNameIsSuz · 14/02/2016 11:02

indomitable, who the hell organises their stag do for Valentine's day???

dobbythedoggy · 14/02/2016 12:05

doc and trin we've used 111 a lot since it came in and this is the first time we've had a bad experience with it. Dd has a habbit of getting ill over the weekends and bank holidays! Usually they refer us straight to the ooh for a call back when we point out how long it would actually take to get to the 'local' walk in centre or miu. As the crow flys everything is a reasonable distance, but the country roads make it between double and tripple the distance. But now our hospital has been registered as having miu, which I suppose technically it does but is just a small part of a very busy a & e department so not what 111 thinks it is, it's a case of computer says no. It was just shockingly clear she didn't need to be there. Puts more presure on a&e and apparently might be putting our very good ooh cover under threat as there's not such a need for the doctors and nurse practitoners. One of the very lovely ooh gps (a parent from my old nursery who I used to baby sit for and text to make sure we were all ok as he saw us leave last night) has popped over this morning and checked out dd's ears (looks like they might need syringing) and to have a rant about the system.

Dh and I don't do anything for valantines day or aniversaries, never have. I think he was secretly hoping bump might arrive today so he can have the excuse of not wanting to take away from lo's birthday when people ask what we're doing.

suz I joined you last night. Nearly had to murder dh when he complained about me tossing and turning when I got back into bed after the first night time wee.

scared good luck, you might get a valantine's baby! My friend's birthday is today and she loves it as she's always been really spoilt by her boyfriends in the past.

MrsBenWyatt · 14/02/2016 12:23

Good luck Scared!!!

DH got me flowers, chocolates, perfume and PJs for Valentine's Day.

I got him...nothing (we never do Valentines usually). Blush

He has form for this. One Christmas, we said we wouldn't do gifts. I got him nothing, he got me a MacBook Envy

I think he is feeling bad that I am massively pregnant and uncomfortable. False labour is still happening pretty much every night, just slightly worse each time!

16 days until section (please come before then, baby!)

magpiedreams · 14/02/2016 12:51

Wow good luck scared update us when you can. pulls up a chair next to indom in the hope of live labour action

Happy valentines everyone. We don't generally bother here but DH did the supermarket shop with both DCs which was a gift in himself but they came home with flowers and chocs which was v sweet.

Good luck with the baby turning crispy and ffaux, a midwife friend told me kneeling and shuffling around cleaning floors and skirting boards was the ideal position to help things along and also productive! Depends how much you want to do that though I guess. Prob want to take some gaviscon first though to stave off the heartburn I'm sure that would bring on!

scaredmum2be · 14/02/2016 13:03

Thanks everyone.
They inserted the first pessary at 2:45am last night. First time trying gas and air and I felt like I had ten gin and tonics lmao. Midwife was giggling along with me and although it hurt after each long breath I was just in hysterics. I giggly told the midwife I'd come again if I could have that gas and air again. She said it was the funniest examination she had done for a while. She said cervix was quite soft for 35 weeks and she was surprised so she holds out hope I'll be ok and she also said pre eclampsia can mean labour actually happens quicker as well.

Got lower abdo pains right now. Like before a period is coming coming every so often. Slept from 4-9:30am but so tired so going to try and get some more rest. Oh has gone to pack hospital bag now and come back.
I'm really scared of giving birth because of my pre eclampsia if something gets worse in my blood I will not be aloud an epidural but at the moment it's stable and not getting any worse. But the possibility of a drip with no epidural is really scary. Also the chance of a c section is scary if I need to be under general. Also really scared when baby is born she won't cry and I won't get to hold her or see her which makes me sad but I know she needs to come out before my health gets worse. Have chosen to have my ohs mum as a 2nd birth partner to because I just feel I need the extra support.

Thanks to everyone and happy valentines today to everyone. Hope pug is doing ok as well

scaredmum2be · 14/02/2016 13:11

Feel like a pin cushion to, my arms getting so bruised from all the blood they are taking

March 2016 Babies #9 - we're on the final countdown!!
docmcstuffins1 · 14/02/2016 13:55

Good luck scared, just remember that whatever happens you'll soon me meeting your baby girl. We've all got our fingers crossed for you.xx

BeautifulLiar · 14/02/2016 14:16

Wow scared, I'm so excited for you. Not long now!!

Indomitable wtf?? That's ridiculous. Hope you and DS manage to have a nice time together. My DH is a bit grumpy today, it's pissing me off. Not impressed about the snow cos I wanted him to mow the lawn! And breathe...

sherazade · 14/02/2016 15:03

Scared that is all so exciting ! How are you feeling ? Can't wait for you to have baby now !!

IndomitabIe · 14/02/2016 15:05

Ooh, exciting times Scared! (And, I know you're worried, and I know 35 weeks isn't ideal, but I'm going to take the line that this is exciting, you'll meet your much-longed-for baby soon and that you'll feel so much better when you're un-pregnant!). Hope it all goes smoothly - the soft-cervix is a great sign.

Oh no Beaut. We had a little bit of sleet falling this morning, but that's it.

I've actually managed to get out of my funk for now. We hit the cinema (Snoopy is a lovely film but doesn't really go anywhere, and sitting still in the cinema is nigh-on impossible, for either of us!) and then had a walk round the park where we bumped into some friends. I feel so much better for talking to other grown-up humans!

BeautifulLiar · 14/02/2016 15:30

Ok it didn't really snow at ours (was snowing where we went out for lunch 40 minutes away-weird!) So he's done the lawn. I went to the carpet shop and ordered another carpet too, nesting so much! Glad you're feeling better Indom, and I'm really jealous of all these slightly early babies :(

IndomitabIe · 14/02/2016 15:41

Our garden is such a swamp the grass has pretty much all washed away. We're on the side of a hill, so it hasn't flooded, but clearly the water's just been pouring through it all winter. (Our town has a nickname that reflects the incessant rain).

It's so patchy and gross. The xmas tree got blown about half way down after it was evicted. We haven't been able to retrieve it still because of the slip-slidey mud.

Come on Spring. Babies are coming, Spring needs to too.

vroc81 · 14/02/2016 16:02

Good luck scared hope all is going well.. pops another chair on the row with magpie and indom and cracks out the snacks

Missi great news on Zach being home, hope everything is going well and he soon gets used to the quietness of a night at home rather than a hospital!

We don't normally do anything for valentines either, I bought an m and s meal deal but that's mostly because I can't be bothered to cook... Haven't even swapped cards this year...

Our garden looks terrible and I would really like to mow the lawn but it's so wet I think the grass is still floating at the moment so think I might need to leave it a few more weeks then get a dad/stepdad/FIL/ to do it while visiting..

scaredmum2be · 14/02/2016 18:05

Feeling very tired but loads of children visiting on ward so hard to nap. Will try when they go later on.
Just been on monitor and midwife asked if I was feeling the 'tightenings' it was picking up. I'd describe them as like when you feel a period coming on type feeling. Not painful at all yet. Feeling very anxious mostly at the thought that I don't know how this can go. And the fact I might not get the option of an epidural. I am scared that I can not do it without. I feel really anxious about all the possibilities and I am scared of all the complications pre eclampsia could cause me. I feel breathless sometimes when I lie down and I'm convinced (health anxiety Talking here) that I'm not going to survive the birth. I've never had an operation before and I'm scared the anaesthetic won't work for me and I'll feel the pain but not be able to speak like you read about if I need a c-section. At least now I know the restlessness in my legs was caused by the swelling since I've had compression stockings on they've felt a lot less restless. So hopefully that'll go after birth.
Hope everyone else is having a nice evening.

IndomitabIe · 14/02/2016 18:25

Breathe, Scared. You'll be fine. Try to focus on some calming breathing.

Honestly, you'll be fine. You're breathless because of the swelling and the massive uterus pressing on your lungs! You're so close to feeling so much better!

Keep talking to the midwives. Tell them all your anxieties.

scaredmum2be · 14/02/2016 18:34

Thank you, I told the midwife and she said it'll be pressure from my uterus. She said to ask any questions I want, their really nice here.
So close but feels so far away still. Come on baby!!
I had my last steroid shot at 6am yesterday morning how long does it take to fully help babies lungs mature?

TheMshipIsBack · 14/02/2016 18:40

Hey scared - you're doing amazing. Visiting hours are sure to be almost over and you can get a little rest soon. If you can't sleep and you're allowed up, can you get up and walk around a little? Walking is often recommended to help things along. Don't worry about the breathlessness, that's a really common third trimester symptom like indom says - I've had it both times from about 34/35 weeks. Good luck tonight! I'm sure all the CSC members will be checking in on you through the wee hours (pun fully intended!).

maybebabybee · 14/02/2016 18:53

Very exciting scared - sending you and baby lots of good wishes Flowers. You will both be fine.

So I'm having lots of low down crampy period type pains this evening. Oh is a bit Confused but I'm pretty sure it's constipation related. Am 36+5 so not quite ready yet!!

magpiedreams · 14/02/2016 18:56

Yes scared we're all with you in spirit, you're doing great. Keep your cool, focus on having your lovely daughter in your arms at the end of this. I think the steroids have some effect from 12 hours after, at 35weeks it's just insurance really anyway as baby's lungs are probably pretty good by now. Glad the midwives are nice, keep talking to them, it's what they're there for.

IndomitabIe · 14/02/2016 19:45

#StagUpdate:
DH just rang. He's locked the car key in the car. My car. What an idiot.

Fortunately he's within the county still. But it means me & DS have to drive up to dobby's neck of the woods with the spare key. Everything in this county is an hour away! (Fortunately, I have DHs little, new, comfortable car and he's got my massive tank). And fortunately he rang in time for me to give DS the phenergen. Otherwise it would be puke-city all over his precious car!

What an idiot.

No news from ThePug?
And deffo with scared in spirit. If you can imagine us like a gaggle of wise women sitting, knitting, mopping your brow, bringing you drinks, helping you to stay calm. We're all there!

MrsBenWyatt · 14/02/2016 19:57

Thinking of you Scared. Good luck!
