maybe yy to the hunger! I can't make it through the morning at work on my usual piece of fruit and bit of yoghurt. It's usually gone by 9:30 and I've been buying emergency muffins at the canteen by 11...

Sorry to hear about all the CTC visitors last night. It's intermittent for me at the moment, but starting to get pretty uncomfortable and although getting back to sleep hasn't been too bad lately, I still wake up frequently.

Glad all the growth scans are coming back positive! Good luck with the Doppler tomorrow beautiful!

Rosieblossom123 · 12/01/2016 09:23

Beautiful Good luck tomorrow hun, glad you too had a fairly good night sleep Flowers

scared Sorry about your rubbish sleep hun I'm expecting that last night was just a one off haha I had a growth scan too but at 27+4 because of reduced movement and going to the day assessment unit twice in one week. It took about 5 minutes and she done all her measurements, checked the placenta and the cord and will give you an estimate of your baby's weight, I couldn't really see much as she's bigger and you could just about make out a few body parts haha fingers crossed everything goes well tomorrow Flowers

marmite I'm 32+2 today and same as you my last day at work is the 12th feb feels like ages away Sad so much to do too plus I got to train the new girl!!

doc I'm a FTM too and so scared of labour really don't know what to expect, I hope it's a quick and easy one, I want a water birth but I know nothing ever goes to plan so we'll see I guess!

Rosieblossom123 · 12/01/2016 09:28

maybe I'm always hungry too, Had cereal, scrambled eggs on toast and a cheese toastie and I'm still starving :( Just drank a pink of milk might have some yogurt and fruit a little bit later it's tricky when you're working though!

Trinpy · 12/01/2016 10:07

Morning everyone!

Glad some of you managed to get some sleep in the end last night. I was awake for ages with heartburn then, just as I was finally getting off to sleep, ds woke up screaming. Screaming went on for almost an hour before dh played some youtube cartoons which weirdly seemed to calm him down enough to get him to sleep. We were all finally asleep some time after 3am but up again nice and early this morning Sad. It was one of those times when I think 'how the hell am I going to do this with a newborn as well??'

I'm also really scared about having a big baby. Mainly worried about coping with all that extra weight towards the end of the pregnancy and also about tearing along the scar tissue from last time. If it helps reassure anyone though - my ds was on the larger side and I don't think it affected how easy/hard it was to give birth, I only tore because the mw was in a panic about getting him out quickly due to meconium in my waters, so I pushed him out a lot bit quicker than I should've. Everything was fine when I was doing it all at my own speed.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/01/2016 10:23

another very hungry one here! Yesterday I just couldn't stop eating, it was ridiculous. I did have a 40 minute cycle on my exercise bike though so think I needed the extra calories. Bump has felt very heavy the past couple of days so think baby is going through a growth spurt. also weighed myself and I've put on half a stone since last measured! so I'm now 11 stone, which is a stone and a half up on pre preg weight. I'm not feeling too bad about my weight though, not sure why I weighed myself other than curiosity due to feeling heavy!

god, I hadn't even thought about tearing Shock with DD I had to have an episiotomy as I couldn't get her out through tiredness. It was bloody painful afterwards for about 4 weeks, really didn't help in the early hormonal stages but once I healed I had no trouble with it, so haven't even thought about it since, suddenly realising that the scar tissue may not be as good as stretching or something Confused. need to get on with perenium massage I think! I didn't really bother last time though I bought some oil to do it, may have to be a bit more organised this time. apparently a natural tear is much better to have than an episiotomy (if you have to have one of course!) as it heals better. Having said that, once healed fully, I haven't really thought about it since as it doesn't interfere with anything.

RE: size of babies and difficulty of labour. I think weight isn't the issue so much as size of head tbh, or whether baby is coming out in a funny way - DPs SIL who had a really easy first labour had a tear despite having a quick and straightforward labour as her DD came out arm first like superman! and there's really nothing you can do about that. also as trinpy said, tearing is likely due to pushing too early/quick.

TheMshipIsBack · 12/01/2016 10:24

Oh yes, don't worry about big babies in general. If the head circumference is over 90th centile, then you might justifiably be concerned, but I had only a small episiotomy and ventouse with DS who was 95th on the head and a chunky 9lb (see photo - does that look like a newborn to you? he was 6 hours old!). I'm not worrying about it at all this time even though I am fully expecting another big baby if we get to full term. Would not in fact be surprised if she's over 10lb and another big head.

Me624 · 12/01/2016 10:35

Labour is just such an unknown for me that I'm not really worrying too much about it! We've covered some good positions and breathing stuff in my NCT classes so far which is all supposed to help minimise tearing etc, but it all depends really doesn't it on whether I end up needing an epidural or what. I'm just trying to think I will take it as it comes.

I'm an absolute eating machine and have been since before Christmas. Everyone kindly keeps telling me I don't look that big and I am mostly bump but there's definite excess fat there! I haven't weighed myself in weeks though. I might tonight just to see!

Rosieblossom123 · 12/01/2016 10:36

Mship Oh my goodness he's so cute, those cheeks Grin

I'm not expecting her to be massive to be honest although I was 9lb 5oz and dp was 10lb 2oz so we'll see. Growth scan on 10h Dec estimated her as 2lb 2oz that was 5 weeks ago and I still got 7 weeks and 5 days left, I'm actually scared!! Shock

hayleycookie · 12/01/2016 10:39

As I've said here before, my DS was 10lb 5oz when we was born, and his head was 38cm! He was my first, and I had no idea what to expect, but I managed. It was a long labour as it was induced (at 42 weeks!) and I'm not going to say it was easy, but it was uncomplicated. I had gas and air, no tears, no stitches, nothing! Your body will only make babies you can handle. Just listen to the midwives.
I know it's easier said than done, as I'm already worrying about birth again, especially as this one is already on 95th centile! I'm due a growth scan this month but don't have a date through yet for it. I'd always said I would want a natural birth, but the close it gets the more I consider being induced or maybe even an ELCS. I have a consultant appointment Friday to discuss options because this one is looking big, and my blood/heart/iron levels are low.
Also; with DS he was 10lb 5oz, but he wasn't chunky in the slightest! He was average baby build, but he was very tall. The length of him is what made him so heavy, and once the shoulders are out he just slid right on out lol Also he was VERY strong when he was born. He was lifting his head and looking around when he was less than an hour old!! He was also rolling over on his own when he was less than a month old. So as well as him being long I genuinely think he was just muscley Grin

Also starving today. Really fancied tea and biscuits (working from home) but couldn't find the biccies and very nearly cried over it! Also need a nap. I have a meeting with my sons nursery tonight (committee) and it's at 7.30 for an hour an a half! This just seems so late to me! I would be in my pajamas at that time!

BeautifulLiar · 12/01/2016 11:02

Crispy thank you, but unfortunately I will be induced at some point :( even if everything looks "normal" from now on, the consultant will induce me on/around my due date (8 weeks today!) because of the placenta already being mature.

I'm also scared of giving birth and I've bloody done it three times!

Hungry here too. I have to have two breakfasts and lunch at 11ish :s

hayleycookie · 12/01/2016 11:03

Just got a message saying tonights meeting is cancelled! Which one of you ladies is my guardian angel and made that happen?! Chocolate for everyone! WOO HOO!

hayleycookie · 12/01/2016 11:05

Cross posted Beaut. That's a a bit pants :( At least you have a date to work around though, and know you won't be going overdue - which sucks! And of course that your baby is going to be in the best hands! 8 weeks wow!! It must seem very real now!

BeautifulLiar · 12/01/2016 11:06

Teeny 6lb Willow at a few hours old (my biggest baby to date!) I've got very small hands too! Just can't get my head around how small newborns are...

BeautifulLiar · 12/01/2016 11:07

Great news Hayley! :) and thank you for the positive views on it - I am glad I won't have to go overdue too much!

vroc81 · 12/01/2016 12:26

MShip and Beaut Beautiful babies!! Beaut hope the scan goes ok tomorrow.

Can you all stop talking about birth now for a few more weeks though please?

Missi great photo of Zach and glad to hear he is doing so well and growing out of clothes too!

Also hungry today and will take the chocolate hayley over the rice cake I just ate.. I also have a meeting this evening and won't be home until about 8:30 as they always drag on so I would quite like that to be cancelled too!

I had a terrible nights sleep last night, just could not get comfortable and now feel a bit like I have a hangover, which doesn't help my worry from the MW - if you have any headaches go to the DAU because I am 99% sure this is sleep and not blood pressure related but will see how it goes..

MyNameIsSuz · 12/01/2016 13:15

Aww lovely baby photos guys! Here's my wee 6lb 7oz sausage at a few days old - so spindly!!! I still needed an episiotomy though as he was coming out with a hand on his face, so his elbow was sticking out. I think a few more pounds would have made no difference! In fact I've heard that bigger babies are sometimes easier, as long as you give birth not lying on your back (I was mostly kneeling with ds, draped over the back of the hospital bed) as gravity helps bring them down quicker. That may or may not be entirely untrue!

I can't believe how well Zach is doing missi, he looks amazing!

I've had a bad sleep again, though it was ds this time, he woke me up at 4 because his duvet fell off Sad. Dh is working late all week so I'm doing the whole evening, bedtime, cooking dinner etc, which I really don't want to be at the moment. I think by Thursday it'll be chip shop or packet lasagne...

Oh, and I'm also bloody starving! But back to having no appetite for particular things, so just wafting around in frustration rejecting everything I see and looking for god knows what.

Oh my god all these baby pictures are making me want to see my baby girl NOW!!!! Beautiful pictures everyone :)

BeautifulLiar · 12/01/2016 13:25

Aww Suz so damn cute! I've heard bigger babies are easier too. And I do NOT recommend giving birth laid on your back!!

I know how you feel though. DH is working away this week. Although I am secretly enjoying it a little bit Blush

Rosieblossom123 · 12/01/2016 13:43

Beautiful I secretly want to sleep on my own for a few nights Blush Imagine having loads of pillows everywhere haha

maybebabybee · 12/01/2016 13:46

Gorgeous baby pics everyone Smile

maybebabybee · 12/01/2016 13:47

I've realised over the past few weeks that I really don't want to be induced - does anyone know if they pressure you even if there's no medical reason to - like if you're just overdue? My mum was nearly 2 weeks overdue with my brother and they really piled the pressure on but she point blank refused. I'm hoping I'll be able to be that stroppy!

MyNameIsSuz · 12/01/2016 14:06

maybe I think once you're more than two weeks overdue they really push to induce you as the risk of the placenta failing and stillbirth goes up by quite a lot. I think it's still only a small percentage overall, but so horrible that they don't want to risk it, if that makes sense.

BeautifulLiar · 12/01/2016 14:11

Rosie it is gorgeous having the bed to myself!

maybe I really don't want to be induced either. You may find though that if you do go overdue you'll just want that baby out!! What is it about induction in particular that doesn't appeal to you?

hayleycookie · 12/01/2016 14:26

Maybe I was induced with my first purely because I was late. I think the ''rule'' then was that they let you go no more than 12 days overdue because the risks then go up significantly. They had no idea my son was going to be so big and they induced just because I was late. They did try to avoid it though. I had 2 sweeps in the 2 weeks I went over but DS just wasn't going to budge on his own. I think you CAN decide not to be induced, but after 12 days over they start to really push for it.

ffauxlivia · 12/01/2016 14:51

Hi all,

I escaped the CSC last night finally, but am definitely camped in the BSC (Bloody Starving Club), and don't feel in the least guilty about eating ALL THE THINGS

I've been sleeping alone in the spare room for last 2 nights and bloody love it, poor DH! Our bed is really high up and I' starting to really struggle getting more like rolling in and out of it and much prefer the one in the spare room. Plus he cranks the radiators up so much I wake up every few hours desperate for water.

We also lost our heating the other night beaut - it was a nightmare because the temp that night was going to be -23C and DH was so worried I was going to get hypothermia lol, since the windows aren't great. But we managed to huddle together and the landlord got it fixed just before bed.

Does anyone have rib pain? They ache when I sit at work, and I'm on a ball and everything! They seem to have expanded so much as no bra bands fit anymore without extenders, I hope the ribs shrink back afterwards???

beaut good luck tomorrow, hopefully more good news and it was no fluke, and scared, mrsben good luck today. scared you are doing so well and are really in the home stretch now.

missi I teared up at that pic, so wonderful how far he's come. What did you decide to do about the magazine?
