Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

Hello ladies, hope you're all feeling ok this morning.

Pink I'd give coming off the anti sickness pills a go. They may not be doing anything for you and if they are then you can always start taking them again.

I'm still feeling nauseous most of the time although I'm feeling a bit less tired. I'm going to call my dr surgery and ask them to extend the sick note. The dr who saw me originally said that I didn't need an appointment I could just do it over the phone and collect the note later so I'm going to call on Friday. I'm a bit concerned about the amount of sick leave I've taken recently but it can't be helped.

Really hope my scan appointment comes through by the end of the week. I'm desperate to see that my baby is ok and tell the world now.

Hi Pink
My scan is the 15th March 😄 And I'm 5 weeks today.
I hope you feel better soon, morning sickness sounds really stressful and tiring. I couldn't afford to take sick leave because of my as I would only get SSP!
Runner do you have your scan date?
X

hgleslie89 · 20/01/2016 13:22

Had my dating scan today Smile Measuring as 12+4, so due date is 30th July. Everything's looking great Grin

Awwww wee Lezzles 👶🏼 how cute!! Was it emotional? X

Pinklily1 · 20/01/2016 14:51

Amazing Leslie. Such a clear picture as well. Did the dating at the scan match your estimates?

Lana, 15 March will be here in no time. My scan is on 23 Feb.

I've had two crackers and a potato today. I usually love my food and now all I can eat is bland crap Confused I have my fingers and toes crossed that everyone who hasn't had sickness yet manages to go the course without it.

Newmrs22 · 20/01/2016 15:55

Ahh that's a lovely scan pic.

Mine is tomorrow! I'm terrified and excited in equal measure. I can't wait to have a proper due date! I think I'm 2 weeks behind the date the doctors is saying.

hgleslie89 · 20/01/2016 17:24

Lana we were both a bit teary and then couldn't stop grinning for ages.

Pink they measured it 2 days ahead of what I thought, so pretty close!

shelbTa · 20/01/2016 17:47

Hi ladies,

Wow amazing scan pic, how lovely!

Pink - I hear you on the sickness, although mine isn't as bad as yours it's really kicked in now. I've found eating almost constantly does help but I'm really struggling now too. Work is ok thanks, I'm just about holding it together.

Runner - yeah it's tough taking sick leave but if you are that bad then don't worry about it, it sounds like you have quite an understanding employer?

X

00Bubbles00 · 20/01/2016 17:47

Hiya, I am lurking in the background but following along! Congratulations Leslie, lovely picture!

I am now 5+4 so still early days but beginning to feel a bit queasy (at random times of the day. Sub-optimal). I have first appointment with the doctors tomorrow. I am guessing from other experiences here that it will be largely underwhelming.

Can I ask a quick question (sorry, I know that other people have already asked but I'm getting anxious!) - how bad were your cramps around week 5/6? Mine are really bad when they come (usually when I'm tired later in the evening and in the night) and I am convinced I am about to discover TONNES of blood. But then they stop and I'm fine again. They are MUCH worse than my usual period pains.

Anyway, enough about me.

Runner I hope you are feeling less sick.

NewMrs22 So envious of your scan tomorrow!

Pink the sickness meds don't sound like they are working if you still feel sick. Doh! Sound horrid but I almost envy you as sometimes I worry that I'm feeling totally fine and I might have dreamt up the positive test result (s)!

sophied1983 · 20/01/2016 18:00

How is everybody? I have the metallic taste in my mouth to quite an extreme level. Still no signs of sickness.

Booked myself in for an early reassurance scan on Fri, settle my nerves for a bit. Will be 8 weeks + 1 on the day.

BunchOfBobs · 20/01/2016 18:19

Leslie that is such an amazing scan photo. So pleased for you. Looking forward to mine on the 1st.

Are you really excited Mrs?

Bubbles I had hideous cramps, doubled over in pain. They eased off after 7 weeks.

Had my bookie in appointment today. Midwife was lovely, even humoured me to try and have a listen with the Doppler. Couldn't find anything obviously. Nice of her to try though.

I've just chopped a load of chilli and inadvertently stuck my finger up my nose. Oh the burn!!

Morwenna1 · 20/01/2016 18:31

Lovely clear picture Leslie! Glad everything is ok. I'm still awaiting my scan date Lana - they do things differently in this area and I've been told I'll get a scan booked in by the midwife when I have my booking in appt (a week today!I'll be 11+2!) Annoying, as I can't see why a scan can't be booked in when they send out the appt letters.

Bubbles Cramping is normal, and I still have strong cramps that seem to be linked to, er, constipation! (Sorry, tmi) but if you are concerned, call the midwife for her guidance on things. I bet she'll tell you unless there's bleeding, then you don't need to worry. Easier said than done!

Tired today yawn!

Sophie Hope the scan goes ok on Friday, I had mine at 8+5 and it was fab Smile

leoniethelioness · 20/01/2016 21:22

Hi, can I join?

And please forgive my ignorance but do I need to make a GP appointment now? I don't know what to do with myself!

Due date 28 September, 4 weeks, just found out!

Runner05 · 20/01/2016 21:23

Lana exciting about your scan appointment. I haven't had mine through yet but I can't wait!

Leslie that's a gorgeous scan!

Pink I've been the opposite today. I seem to have been munching through all the junk food in the house but nothing makes me feel better Sad

Good luck for tomorrow New

Shelb I hope the snacking continues to help. Worked for me for a while. Fingers crossed!

Bubbles as others have said the cramps are normal. Pregnancy hormones slow down your digestive system which causes trapped wind and constipation. The extra pressure on your intestines and colon cause period type pain that can be excruciating especially when mixed with the growing pains your stomach are going through anyway. The best thing you can try to do is drink more water and eat foods that usually make you poop. That should help your body deal better.

Sophie good luck with the early scan. Stupid metallic taste is normal. I have days when I can't taste food because my mouth tastes like I've been licking dirty gravel!

bunch glad you had a positive experience with your midwife... No advice about the chillie up your nose, just, ouch!

Mor it really irritates me how different NHS areas do things differently. Surely it would be more efficient and therefore more cost effective to have one system for all. The PM in me finds the lack of consistency aggravating.

So, unsurprisingly I'm still feeling sick and mostly staying in bed. I'm feeling a little less exhausted though.

I spoke to a social worker about my mum today. I found out that the stupid assessor who came to see her had reported that she was perfectly capable of looking after herself. Luckily the social worker had been caught by mums nurse and informed that she's unable to do anything without supervision and encouragement. Having then spoken to me the social worker is now going to apply for funding to get mum a place in a care home and make sure that she has hospital or interim care until they can find her a new home. This is fantastic news as it means she'll be properly looked after 24/7 and I won't need to worry. We're having a meeting tomorrow to make arrangements. (Slightly love my mums nurse as I think this turn of events is largely due to her recommendation)

Hi Leonie of course you're welcome and congrats Smile

Just call your local GP and ask what their procedure is. Some like you to see a dr first, others just make you a midwife appointment at about 8 weeks.

OP posts:
leoniethelioness · 20/01/2016 21:28

Thank you Flowers

Pinklily1 · 21/01/2016 12:17

Congratulations Leonie!

How is everyone today? I've been back to the doctors this morning and she has signed me off for another week. I've stopped taking the anti-sickness meds and actually feel better for it. Still off food and drink though which is making me dizzy. The doctor said that my wee was a bit iffy and if I don't start drinking more I will need to go to hospital for rehydration. I don't want that so will be forcing myself to drink Confused

Newmrs22 · 21/01/2016 12:26

Oh you poor thing Pink. Hope you feel better soon. Maybe always have some water beside you and just sip a tiny bit every few minutes.

My scan is later! Eek. I have fears I've imagined it all and there's no baby Blush

00Bubbles00 · 21/01/2016 12:59

Thank you all for the reassurance. I had my first doctors appointment this morning. She was lovely, very reassuring about the cramping (totally normal as you've all said). Seems like SUCH a long wait to the 10 week booking in scan so I have just booked an early reassurance scan for 11th Feb which is exciting.

New good luck for later!

Runner05 · 21/01/2016 13:42

Sorry you're still poorly Pink I've also been signed off for another week, then I need to go back in to see the dr before they'll sign me off again.

Good luck for later New

Glad things went well Bubbles

Word to the wise. Do not under any circumstances eat a sausage and egg mcmuffin. They taste vile going the other way

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 21/01/2016 16:29

Sorry to hear Runner and Pink are poorly still. I've been shattered all day due to really struggling to go back to sleep after my 11.30 and 2am pee sessions. (I'm usually asleep for 10). Laid down on the sofa with the dog at 1pm and woke up 3pm oops. I've felt pretty groggy since.

Shelb you said your have your Linea negra already, I swear I have the equivalent in hair. I have a hairy belly! And I swear my belly button is shallowing already and I'm so aware of it. It's super sensitive.

I caved and bought a Doppler. I've promised myself not freak out when I can't find the heartbeat. I'm an idiot though I know. I'm waiting for DH to get home then we're going to try and fail to locate the baby beat and hopefully tell the difference between the baby, me and placenta.

The midwife yesterday had a go but said baby is still behind the pubic bone so couldn't find anything. To be fair though she didn't check out the 2 inches above said pubic bone that's what I keep telling myself anyway.

FFS the dog just jumped onto the window sill and upended one of my aloe Vera's. Soil EVERYWHERE!!

Lanadel · 21/01/2016 18:29

Hey, hope everyone's doing week today.
Congratulations Leonie how are you feeling?
Runner I can't believe the social worker wrote that report, that is absolutely shocking but I am glad that things are now moving in the right direction.
Bunch I know I'm not supposed too but I have been using my laser hair removal machine at my tummy the past 2 weeks to prevent said hair from appearing. I'm hoping it doesn't make the line darker tho as the light reacts with the increased melanolin in the skin which causes pigment damage, not actual damage to the baby otherwise I wouldn't have used it at all.
Where did you get your Doppler from?
New how did your scan go today?
X

Runner05 · 21/01/2016 18:34

Oh my god! Sorry to rush into me, me, me but today has officially been the worse day of morning sickness ever! I feel so awful that I just curled up and cried for about an hour earlier. Going to try to get some sleep now but I so hope I feel better tomorrow. No more junk food for me!

OP posts:
shelbTa · 21/01/2016 18:38

Yey Leonie!!

Hi everyone.

Oh runner - get thee to bed!

Bunch what is the Doppler like?! I'm tempted.

Fuck me I feel sick. Bizarrely I'm in the mood for a salad now tonight so going to strike while the irons hot and hope it cancels out some of the other shite I've eaten today!

X

Pinklily1 · 21/01/2016 18:47

Shelb, eat as much salad as you can while you can! I am sick of the sight of crap food.

runner, do you think anything trigger edit being worse today?

On the subject of hair stuff, I am turning into a gorilla. I have neglected the grooming a bit due to the sickness but I swear I shave my legs etc and it's all grown back about 2 minutes later! I am also getting a hairy tummy Hmm

New, how did the scan go?
