Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

Got an appointment this morning so will let you know how it goes.

Hope you are feeling better with the antibiotics Runner.

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 08:40

Excellent Pink I hope you don't have a UTI too. How are you feeling?

I still feel as rubbish as I did yesterday. I'm hoping that as the infection recedes I'll feel better but doubt that will be the case Hmm

Sounds like you're really going through it runner Sad do the antibiotics taste like that stuff used on kids to stop them biting their nails? I had some once that used to taste exactly like that, was rank!

Can you ladies just confirm something for me please, as am being a ninny. Pregnancy is dated from the first date of your last period, and not from conception- right?

I booked my private scan today for the 28th Jan, and my last period started 1st Dec, which I think puts me at a little over 8 weeks pg on the day of my scan. That's correct, isn't it? Just worried about confusing myself with dates and getting nothing on the scan because I'm earlier on in the pregnancy than I'd thought!

Ovia tells me I'm 6 weeks today (no nausea yet, only even more heightened smell and some mild queasiness), and that I'm now the proud owner of a blueberry! Smile

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 10:28

Rose yep pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period as it's usually the only date the can use with 100% accuracy.

Hope the morning sickness holds off and good luck for the early scan Smile

Hi ladies

The doctor was lovely. He has signed me off for 10 days and given me anti-sickness meds. To be honest I feel so horrible that I've taken the first one already. I was a bit worried about drugs but he said that although no company would guarantee they were safe in pregnancy they are regularly prescribed to pregnant ladies. It's cyclezine. What did the doctor prescribe you Runner?

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 10:52

Pink I'm glad you got a good experience too and that you don't have a UTI to add to your problems.

I'm not going to take the medication as my dr was far more cautious and said that while she would prescribe the medication so that I have the choice she would rather I didn't take it and instead stayed in bed rest as it was an unnecessary risk in the first trimester if you're not actually vomiting. I guess it depends on the dr and their personal opinion.

Oop, forgot to say that I was given the same stuff as you Pink

Have just realised that I can start my pregnancy journal in a week and a half!!! Smile

Pinklily1 · 12/01/2016 11:14

That's worrying that there is such a difference in views between doctors Shock

BunchOfBobs · 12/01/2016 11:18

Glad to hear Pink and Runner are on bed rest. Heartburn has just kicked in for me and I really hope it's not here for the long haul. I hate it.

Runner remind me which diary you have again?

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 12:05

I've got the bump to birthday one. It's really nice. Can't wait to start using it properly.

Just cooking lasagne but not sure if I'm going to be able to eat it. Damn you morning sickness!!!!

BunchOfBobs · 12/01/2016 14:03

Is anyone else looking like utter crap at the minute? I swear this child is taking everything from me despite my Pregnacare swallowing!! I have hideous skin, spots galore and dry flaky patches. Dark circles around my eyes and hair that is dry as a bone but gets greasy ever 12-18 hours. Wtf?! Where is the glow! I want the glow already!!

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 14:14

Lol, yep Bunch I too look repulsive. I've heard the "glow" doesn't rock up until the second trimester. Bastard!

Just marking my place so I can come back and read through later Grin Hope you are all well!! Xxx

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 14:40

Yay! Welcome Lana fresh meat Wink

I'll say the same to you as I'm saying to all new grads now... Spend the next couple of weeks enjoying yourself and eating all your favourite naughty foods because if you're unlucky enough to get bad morning sickness you may find that this is the last time you feel well for a while. Welcome Lana! How far along do you think you are?

And I second the very wise words from Runner!

Lanadel · 12/01/2016 17:14

Hi Pink & Runner Awc I tend to eat whatever I like anyway but I am going to get a membership for the swimming as I don't want to put on any unnecessary weight as I go on haha.
I think I'll be about 3 weeks from last OPK test.
So when is morning sickness most likely to kick in going from everyone's experience? X

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 17:36

When was the first day of your last period as that's when you count from.

Sickness can start anywhere from the end of week 5 to the start of week seven and for most lasts until about week 13. Probably best you wait and see if you get it before signing up for swimming as if you do you won't be swimming until it leaves.

Just about caught up on the thread! Sorry to hear folks are still feeling rough as, I've caught a cold so I'm feeling sorry for myself at the moment. Looking online I don't think there is anything I can take for it? Not in the 1st tri?

As a result I look hideous. I have spots, crap hair and I'm so lethargic at the moment! Literally manage to drag myself through work and then collapse each evening.

Hi to the newbies! Smile Fingers crossed you don't get morning sickness! Bunch I'm like you, so far so good!! Fx.

Now awaiting my booking in appt with the midwife. 2 weeks to go, and I'm hoping she's going to sort out the 12 wk scan at the same time.

Anyone using moisturiser/stretch mark cream yet? I've got the Palmers one coming so I'm going to give that a whirl. I've heard you either get them or you don't, but my skin is getting a bit itchy so it'll relieve that if nothing else.

BunchOfBobs · 12/01/2016 18:27

Mor sorry to hear you've got a cold but sounds like you're looking like me at the mo. Is just drink lots of orange juice and lemon and honey concoctions until you can take paracetamol.

I've bought the superdrugs version of bio-oil (I only use cruelty free products), smells lovely and feels nice to put on. I'm not itchy yet but my belly button is already starting to shallow!!

Lanadel · 12/01/2016 19:01

I am 4 weeks today runner the first day of AF was 16/12/15... Oh I see what you mean with the swimming then, I'll look into it in a couple of weeks then and just start some light exercise and squatting at home to see me through. I hope your mum is doing OK chick.
How far on is everyone? I still haven't had a chance to check thru the last few days pages yet.

I hope you feel better soon Mor.

X

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 19:34

Sorry you're feeling rubbish Mor

I'm planning to use bio oil when I get my bum in gear and start actually putting it on!

Lana I'm 7+3 today.

Thanks for asking about mum. She's at the local hospital at the moment. I feel a bit guilty as I wasn't there when she was checked in and I've been too ill to go today but I've spoken to her nurses and they seem to think she's doing ok. Hoping I can manage to get up there tomorrow as I feel like a shit daughter at the moment. It's a UTI (same as me, what's the odds!) so she should be fine I just didn't want her alone where she could take a turn for the worse without anyone noticing.

OP posts:
hgleslie89 · 12/01/2016 19:38

Lana I'm 11+1 today. After a week of no vomiting it's back Sad On the plus side I told work yesterday and they've all been very supportive.

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 19:41

Aww Leslie you have my sympathies but at least work were cool Smile

I'm looking forward to that magical day when I spend less time feeling sick than I do feeling fine.

OP posts:
Lanadel · 12/01/2016 20:38

Runner UTI are horrible for older people or those who have memory issues, it can make them hallucinate if it's not treated or they don't realise they have one. I had a really bad one that didn't clear 16 months ago and I was the same, terrible fever and hallucinating a little. I hope it clears soon and you get to spend a bit more time with her tomorrow. She'll be happy to see you. Have you told her your having a baby yet?
Also, I feel like yiu have been pregnant forever!
Oh Leslie how are you enjoying pregnancy, apart from the sickness of course? that's nice that your work were supportive, were you getting 101 questions from everyone?
X

Runner05 · 12/01/2016 20:52

Lana luckily we caught this one quite early so no hallucinations, I just didn't trust her to be able to care for herself as she also has kidney failure, diabetes, bipolar & dementia (if she was a dog I'd have her put down bad taste joke Hmm) and with me out of action with UTI too getting her put in hospital seemed like the best move.

I haven't told her about the pregnancy yet as we didn't want to upset her if it wasn't sticky.

OH is in the other room having a jam session with a possible new guitarist. Wish they'd stop chatting and entertain me by playing lol
