Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

Congrats little!

How are we ladies? I'm so bloated and at a lil family get together claiming dry Jan.

I haven't really got many symptoms- just the achy belly and sore nips at the mo, 5 weeks today. Did you guys book gp appointments or get in contact with the midwife straight away?

Runner05 · 10/01/2016 20:26

That's what I've heard about the poop thing too. Not impressed with the idea though lol

Pink I'm really worried that I might have to take time off work. But I guess if we do we do. I've told OH that I recon I'll only get to Tuesday at later before bursting into hormonal tears... He agrees Confused

I had a GP appointment Bubble but they basically asked why I was bothering them and told me that they didn't expect to see me for anything pregnancy related as that's what the midwife is for.

Best call your Dr surgery and ask them what their procedure is.

Bubbles I called the GP surgery and told them I'd done a home test and it was showing that I was pregnant, what should I do. The receptionist said she'd book me in with the midwife, 1st appointment was early Feb when I will be 8 weeks. I agreed to that but I'm now wondering about calling the community midwife direct to see if I can book my scan direct or see someone sooner as I'm really keen to get the scan in late feb before DH goes away. Our area has a reputation for appalling ante-natal care and the maternity hospital is dire so I don't expect to see someone at 8 weeks and get a scan at 11 weeks unless I push it!

Getting more and more worried about how I'm going to cope for the next few weeks until morning sickness eases. I think I will need to go to the dr tomorrow, even if they say there's nothing they can do Sad

Oh Runner, I feel your pain. It makes you just want to curl up in bed and cry doesn't it? My OH said he feels totally helpless and the only thing he can do is remind me that come September when the baby arrives all of this sickness will have been worth it, which I am trying to remember.

I was reading that morning sickness is often worse if your mum or sisters had it badly, if it's a multiple pregnancy or if it's a first pregnancy. I spoke to two friends today who don't know I am pg and both are expecting their second babies. Both said they had bad morning sickness with the first and not the second, so hopefully if there are more children that will apply to us!

If you go to the doctor please let me know what kind of response you get. I do think that if there is medication that can be given and is safe for the baby they should prescribe it in this day and age rather than us having to suffer.

Hugs to you Thanks and to everyone else who is suffering from all and any symptoms.

On a totally unrelated note my OH kindly pointed out today that my boobs "are literally the size of melons. Actual melons that you get from the supermarket". I might need to invest in a new bra soon at this rate Shock

Runner05 · 10/01/2016 22:15

Pink I'll let you know what the dr says.

I found out yesterday that my sister had HG with both of her pregnancies so I suppose I've got off lightly. My OH has been really supportive looking after me and letting me just stay in bed. There's just not much they can do, bless em.

shelbTa · 10/01/2016 22:30

Aw bless you both. Pink, do you know if your mum / family suffered with morning sickness?

Are you both managing to eat / drink?

X

Runner05 · 10/01/2016 22:48

Yes, I can drink water but can't stomach any other drink. I can eat sporadically, the thought and small of food makes me feel sick and that's getting worse but when I'm hungry I can eat certain foods like meat, eggs, fruit and lettuce. Anything else utterly repulses me. It has to be put in front of me though as even typing that makes me feel sick to my stomach.

The only thing that seems to help ease the sickness is laying on my side.

Morning ladies, how are you feeling this morning?

I've had to call into work and tell them I'm working from home. Just waiting for the dr surgery to open so that I can call them. Don't know what I'll do if they don't give me something as at the moment I can literally only manage about 20 minutes then I have to lay down. Sad

shelbTa · 11/01/2016 08:00

Morning,

Aw runner. I think if you say it's affecting your ability to work then they will offer you something, id hope so anyway. I'd maybe really ham it up though, you know what gps can be like. I hope you get it sorted, really feel for you!

I feel quite sick too today - yknow when you haven't been able to sleep and you feel sick because of it, that type of sicky feeling? That.

X

Pinklily1 · 11/01/2016 08:05

Morning ladies

Runner I really hope they give you something. I've had to phone in sick this morning, I just can't get myself out of bed because of the nausea and I think because I'm not eating much I have no energy.

Shelb, my mum had really bad sickness with me which lasted 16 weeks, that was actually being sick rather than nausea Shock My sister was sick with both of hers too but it had stopped by 12 weeks. I'm hoping mine won't last that long.

Fingers crossed your sickly feeling this morning isn't the beginning of sickness for you.

Pinklily1 · 11/01/2016 08:06

Ps I'm the same as Runner in terms of eating and drinking.

Runner05 · 11/01/2016 08:27

Well, I've got a dr appointment. The receptionist put me into the triage nurse line and the moment she asked me what was wrong I just burst into tears... How to get a dr appointment 101 Blush it's not until 2:45 though so going to do as much work from home as possible.

Sorry you've not been able to make it to work either Pink Sad I'll let you know what my dr says. Rest up.

Shelb hope you start feeling better soon.

What a sad little bunch we are Sad

...and to make matters worse I just found out David Bowie has died. Today sucks!

So pleased you've managed to get an appointment Runner. Be firm with the doctor as I remember you saving they were rude when you went for the first appointment to say you were pregnant.

The pregnancy hormones have truly kicked in - just had a good cry watching Wanted Down Under!! I am not a crier usually!

BunchOfBobs · 11/01/2016 13:07

Morning all,
That's me back from Center Parcs and all caught up on the thread. Congrats and welcome Belle. I'm still not suffering from morning sickness- sorry to rub it in and so sorry to hear how rough at time Runner and Pink. I've spent the last 4 days with my SILs kids amongst other family, a 9 and 5 year old and 3 month old. Now I am totally freaking out!!

Nevlet · 11/01/2016 13:47

Sorry to hear sickness is worsening for some of you :(

6 weeks today still only occasionally queasy but it's definitely getting stronger. Dizziness is my main worry at the moment I keep loosing my balance and getting a haze in my vision looking across the classroom- have decided I need to let management know at work so I can be risk assessed as school is such a busy environment/stairs/ etc. My department head already knows and thinks its a good idea- as she pointed out on the worst case scenario if anything goes wrong they would know anyway as I would be off so they may as well know it as good news! Just hope it doesnt get out to the rest of the staff till after half term...

Runner05 · 11/01/2016 14:18

Welcome back Bunch

Nev I've had a couple of those dizzy spells. They're scary!

Waiting for my dr appointment. Can't read or look at screens much anymore. Don't know what to do if they say tough.
Also size 18 jeans are uncomfortably tight "sob!"

So dr was brilliant. It turns out I have a bladder infection. She's given me antibiotics and signed me off for two weeks. She's also given me some anti sickness meds but she's advised that they aren't 100% safe so she'd rather I didn't use them and just called to get signed off for longer if I feel no better in a week. Really glad I came in.

Pink get yourself to the dr. May be you have the same problem.

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 11/01/2016 15:37

So pleased she was good Runner. Did you just tell her you symptoms ie issues with eating and drinking and constant nausea? It must be a relief to know you don't have to drag yourself into work for a bit.

I've not had a bladder infection before so wouldn't know what the symptoms of that are. At the risk of TMI my wee is starting to smell and be very yellow, which I know is dehydration.

You have to phone on the morning to get a doctors appointment for the same day so will try tomorrow morning.

Runner05 · 11/01/2016 17:25

I was asked to take in a urine sample in and she did a dip test. I had no idea I had a infection because my only symptoms was dizziness, tiredness and peeing all the time. Not exactly easy to identify so as you seem to have very similar symptoms it can't hurt to get checked x

Pinklily1 · 11/01/2016 21:01

Thanks Runner, I'm going to phone for an appointment first thing. Hopefully I will manage to get one and will let you know what they say.

Runner05 · 11/01/2016 21:21

Excellent!

Remember, if they try to fob you off use the hormones! in other words, cry at them Wink

Morning ladies, how are you today?

I woke up with my normal nausea. Got to take my morning antibiotic on a minute. On a side not, the ones I've been given are officially the most revolting tasting tablet I've ever taken. No wonder they want you to take it with food, that obviously just to mask the taste!

I've also got to try and locate my mother later. I know she's at the local hospital somewhere but the local hospital is huge! And I've got no idea what ward she's on.

Day one of bed rest. Thank god!!

Found out last night that someone I'm not very fond of is pregnant.
I was quite upset to start with as she will be due a month before me and I kinda felt like she was stealing my thunder... Then I did some maths and realised that she must have got knocked up 2 months after meeting her latest fling who nobody likes and that a number of fallings out recently must have been as a result. She already has a child and is obviously not very motherly so I'm shocked she would even consider another one.
Now I've worked all that out every time I think of it I burst out laughing... Just one more example of why I'm going to hell! Grin
