Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

Aww Pink you poor thing. I haven't had the poops because I've been too busy with the opposite problem.

I can thoroughly recommend sobbing on the bathroom floor to make you feel better though Confused

So got a call from mums care worker this morning now waiting for a call from the emergency team. Mentally she's really far away, confused and forgetting how to do things. Not good.

Family emergency, just what you want when you feel like you're going to puke 24/7.

Aww Runner, sorry to hear that. I hope the care team can help.

I'm not usually a crier but would not be adverse to a good wail right now!

Shelb, not been sick, it's still just nausea. The diarrhoea has faded away a bit which is good. I'm 6+1 in terms of dates. Just eating a delightful breakfast of dry crackers Confused

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 11:17

Just sent OH shopping list. It was more like a sod food, get me every sickness remedy I've ever come across list lol

Just found out from my sister that with both of her pregnancies at 3 months she looked 6... That explains a lot Hmm

DrWhy · 09/01/2016 14:25

Oh Runner sorry to hear you are having such a rough time, how far gone are you now?
I'm still very early, just getting the AF type cramps and occasional vague nausea. I'm hoping it stays that way! I haven't told family yet so can't ask mum how her pregnancies went. I do know I was a horrid baby and both my sister and I were huge Shock trying not to think about that!
I went off to the gym yesterday, now I hurt!

shelbTa · 09/01/2016 14:28

Sorry to hear that runner, must be really stressful.

Hang in there pink. What are you doing today?

I've got a jacket potato in the oven. Bit of nausea and tiredness today. According to my workings out I'm 6+5 today. Guna try half hour walk later but just slobbed on the sofa right now.

Interesting about your sisters size runner, are you still bloated out etc?

Have any of you guys got a line on your belly yet? Don't know why mine has rocked up so early!

X

Nevlet · 09/01/2016 14:46

Oh dear runner... Just think ultimately this is only temporary?

No shelb I have no line but then again I don't seem to have much in the way of symptoms. Pretty sore boobs but not that bad, fairly tired and occasional nausea. Thats all. Don't feel pregnant at all just a bit hungover like!

Morwenna1 · 09/01/2016 15:13

Sorry to hear about your Mum Runner Flowers

All is fine and dandy after today's scan! I'm 8+5, one day over so not bad going with the calculations! Everything present and correct, including a little heart going like the clappers. Smile It's been so surreal up to this point, but for anyone still debating whether to have an early scan I would really recommend it. We've got loads of printed pictures and a CD with them on including three short video's showing the heart beating.

Currently 2.18 cm from crown to rump Smile

Morwenna1 · 09/01/2016 15:40

Pink They must be inundated if I can't get my booking in until 11 weeks...

Hope you're feeling better now? Not much fun if things are happening both ends! I've just been constipated! Blush

Morwenna1 · 09/01/2016 15:41

The lady today made me laugh as she said they need a full bladder to push the gas out of the way!

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 15:49

Dr I'm 7 weeks now (baby is the size of a dice)

Shelb no line but yes I'm still bloated and look pregnant! I'm in half a mind to just go for the maternity clothes already as I'm two sizes bigger than normal and clothes are still getting tight Shock

Mother has a urineary infection. She has antibiotics but if she's no better tomorrow it's off to hospital again Sad

Pinklily1 · 09/01/2016 16:12

Mor so pleased the scan went well! Its lovely that you have videos as well!

Runner, hope your mum improves soon. If you are uncomfortable in your clothes I say move to maternity clothes. Being comfortable is so important, especially when you are feeling so poorly.

Shelb, i've been on the sofa all day. We've had to cancel dinner plans for tonight as there is no way I could have sat in a restaurant and pretended to be interested in food. Funnily enough, the only thing I've been able to stomach is a jacket potato, plain with a bit o ketchup Smile

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 16:12

New craving... Soft boiled eggs and soldiers. Nomnomnom

OP posts:
Morwenna1 · 09/01/2016 16:15

Thanks Pink Smile Do you think you'll be having an early scan?

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 16:38

Eugh! Ketchup? Pink how could you?! runs to the loo feeling a bit sick

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 09/01/2016 17:01

Honestly Runner, ketchup was the way forward at lunch time, not entirely sure why! I'm adopting the approach of it I fancy it, eat it!

Mor, we won't have an early scan. I would like to but we are saving for a holiday, a wedding and a baby, so the £100 cost of the scan would go towards all of those things and OH is also quite happy to wait.

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 17:09

Pink I know what you mean. Whatever idiot came up with pregnancy diets obviously didn't know the distress of morning sickness and the need to eat whatever you can while you fancy it before the thought of it makes you ill again

OP posts:
DrWhy · 09/01/2016 17:27

Oh heck, I'm not looking forward to this! I've just accepted an invitation to a somewhat posh birthday dinner party next Saturday. I sincerely hope I haven't started feeling properly queasy by then. I think I can get away with saying that I'm off the booze for January and I can't see the foods being a huge issue, I'm basically veggie anyway and you can usually pick and choose things like cheeses.
Went to look at a house this morning, very weird to be thinking about whether I'd be too isolated on maternity leave...! Feeling very fortunate that if we don't find somewhere in the next few months we do have space for the poppyseed at least until it starts to crawl.
On the other hand hearing talk of the next redundancy round is making me very anxious, I'm likely to be visibly pregnant by then but not on maternity leave so not protected and I'm new to the role so not likely to be very good at it by then.
Can anyone tell that I get rather anxious...?!

Pinklily1 · 09/01/2016 17:32

Dr, exciting about a possible move! Are you looking to move far?

Pregnancy is a protected characteristic as well for the purposes of discrimination, so they can't discriminate against you if you are pregnant, regardless of whether you have stated mat leave or not. It takes a bold employer to make a pregnancy lady redundant in my view!

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 17:40

what Pink said. That's exactly why I handed in official notice of my pregnancy. If I do have to have time off or ask for flexible working due to morning sickness i don't want them flagging it as me being rubbish and as long as work know you are pregnant it's very hard for them to touch you as you can claim discrimination.

Morwenna1 · 09/01/2016 17:45

Dr When I ate out over Christmas I found looking up the menu beforehand useful! Saved me umming and ahhing in the restaurant..the dry January thing is useful though too!

Second what Pink said, they would have to have some balls to make you redundant if you've made it known to them that you're pregnant..might have more info on direct.gov.

Hope the house hunting goes well Smile Exciting times!

shelbTa · 09/01/2016 18:17

Hi everyone.

Eeww potato with ketchup!

Agree with everyone dr - being pregnant will most likely offer you some protection.

Runner - you've formally told your employer now then?

Total dairy cravings for me today, just had a sip of milk which I probably haven't done for a decade and have a loaded cheese pizza cooking!

X

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 19:13

shelb yep, I gave them written notification on Friday when I had to come home because I couldn't hack it anymore.

I have the most wonderful OH Smile today he's done the shopping alone even though he really hates it, tidied the kitchen, looked after the kids, made lunch and is now making dinner. While apart from a couple of trips to sort mum out, I have gone to bed and slept. And he hasn't made the slightest complaint. Smile

Morwenna1 · 09/01/2016 20:06

Not getting cravings as such Shelb Although I've ate bananas two days in a row...and it's not my usual fruit of choice.

Sounds like you got a good 'un there Runner Smile My DH has been as good as gold whilst I've been sat moaning about indigestion and looking like a whale!

DrWhy · 09/01/2016 20:57

Pink no, not moving far, we are just looking for a house either in the city we currently live in or preferably in a nearby village. Now we have to think about schools and nurserys as well as view, commuting distance, number and size of rooms etc etc. Smile I'm actually enjoying it because we aren't in a mad rush, the flat is actually big enough for poppyseed if necessary although not being able to park nearby would drive me bonkers!
Thank you so much everyone for the reassurance on jobs, I'm just worried because I was on a warning of redundancy for months so we but off TTC. I finally got a new role confirmed in Nov so we started TTC, started the new role on 5th Jan and found I was pregnant on 7th! Then started hearing more about the next planned reorg in late spring/summer. I feel like I won't have been long enough in role to be secure there, plus it's in a department that could get totally outsourced. I can see your point though that it wouldn't look good to make me redundant while pregnant!
Morwenna and Runner I'm glad your DHs are being lovely - mines actually being very sweet at the moment too - he's gone a bit nuts with the house thing. I think it's his version of nesting! After 2 months of discussing him selling his flat in another city so we can buy a house he put it on the market the day after my possible test!
