Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

When does the hand thing start showing Runner?

I think it will be a relief to tell me boss.

Welcome Nev! I am 6 weeks today.

Nevlet · 08/01/2016 14:04

Thanks Pink! Anyone still have moments where they think they are loosing it and none of this is real? Even when symptoms are definitely there?

Runner05 · 08/01/2016 14:27

I'm not sure Pink

Nev I'm the wrong person to ask. I skipped the anxious "is this real" phase. I think OH is going through it for both of us lol

Nevlet · 08/01/2016 14:29

haha I am with you on the anxiety...my response to everything is just ah it'll be fine - but still question whether it is real or not!We were told start of December that my PCOS was so bad we probably couldn't conceive alone - think thats why I have struggled to believe it.

BunchOfBobs · 08/01/2016 14:50

Sorry you're having such a rough time Runner & Shelb. YY to being cold
ALL the time! I'm 9 weeks today with a Pecan according to LMP, and the crankiness has kicked in. Super tired too.

BunchOfBobs · 08/01/2016 14:51

That's me a centre Parcs until Monday so if I do t post until then have a great weekend everyone and hope the sickness stays at bay or calms down.

Runner05 · 08/01/2016 15:10

Have fun Bunch

Sickness has been joined by overwhelming dizziness. Wtf I feel like I've just got off of a fairground ride!!!

Runner and Shelb it sounds like your going through the mill...Flowers thinking of you all with your nausea/sickness!!

Just want to get on with the scan tomorrow, literally can't focus on anything else! If it wasn't for my Mum telling me that she didn't have sickness, much in the way of symptoms I'd be quite worried. who am I kidding I'm permanently worried!

The other day I looked like a beached whale with a ginormous bloated stomach, wake up this morning wondering if I've been imagining these last few weeks. Can you tell I don't do well with things completely outside of my control?!

Not to confuse people, I do flip between thinking what will be will be, and then reverting to being really anxious about it all. I know there's nothing I can do to change circumstances, but now the scan is actually here tomorrow I'm so nervous!

Yep to being cold! F-ing freezing!

On the plus side, the little hand appeared on Ovia around the 8 week mark I think Smile it's tiny!

Morwenna1 · 08/01/2016 17:03

Dr you mention the blood test isn't offered on the NHS. Is this not the blood test they do as part of the combined screening? I thought they measured the liquid at the nape of the babies neck, and then along with a blood test and your age this then gives you your risk factor. Have I missed something?

Here what you're saying about getting a scan in time though. My booking in isn't until week 11, so I rung up to try and get scan arranged but I have to go through the midwife..not so great if I end up getting scanned at week 14 (which they said it could be) and then that's me out of the window for CVS if I'm classed as high risk. Not that I want CVS, but it doesn't seem like a logical system if that option is not available to some women.

00Bubbles00 · 08/01/2016 17:05

Ok so I plucked up courage and did the ACTUAL word test this morning. So tonight I think I tell DH. Although will feel terrible if AF appears. I'm still not due for another 4 days (and of course just googled whether a positive result at 9DPO (which is when I got the first non-squinted line) is good or bad and it came up saying it "could" be twins. Which has totally freaked me out. Until I read some more and it just as likely doesn't mean anything at all. Sigh. How much of a TOTAL head fuck is this whole thing!).

Morwenna as far as I can work out the NHS do a blood test that tells you your risk level (along with the nucal fold measurement on the scan) but you can get a private diagnostic blood test that tells you absolutely whether or not the baby has downs or a couple of other genetic conditions. The Harmony test is one brand name I've seen on here but the one available near us is called something like an NIPT test, it looks at fragments of the babies DNA in the mothers blood.

Morwenna1 · 08/01/2016 17:40

Ah, yes. I'm obviously not with it, as I am considering Harmony myself. Blush

Here's hoping that neither of us need it.

shelbTa · 08/01/2016 17:43

Congrats bubbles!

Hi everyone.

Currently on a train full of people eating stinking food trying not to wretch.

sophied1983 · 08/01/2016 18:03

I feel a bit better knowing that only 1% of pregnancies end in a missed miscarriage (out of the 20% that do). So it's relatively rare for that to happen and your body not to catch up. Obviously any type of miscarriage would be flipping heartbreaking, but I imagine awful if your body is still acting like it's pregnant... shudder.

sophied1983 · 08/01/2016 18:11

The use of the word 'only' doesn't seem right. But I thought it'd be a higher number. I think I'd rather know and have symptoms to know it was happening, and try to process that, than carry on as if everything is going well and to find that's not the case at the scan. Does that make sense?

Pinklily1 · 08/01/2016 18:20

Sophie, it makes sense to me.

My sister had two missed MC's, if that's what it's called when the baby effectively stops growing but it isn't picked up until a scan and you haven't actually bled or anything? That's my biggest fear.

Mor, so exciting that your scan is tomorrow - lots of luck! I can't believe you don't get to see a midwife until 11 weeks, is that just because of how busy they are?

Bubbles, you are definitely upduffed Grin I think it's time to tell your OH! Oh, and I would be terrified by twins!! I got my BFP at 10/11 dpo so I hope what you read has no weight behind it!

Shelb, hope you've managed not to wretch. I had the same this morning but it was the smell of a newspaper that was killing me Confused

Runner05 · 08/01/2016 21:20

Lol Bubble I think getting positive at 9dpo usually either means you ovulated before you think you did or it's just a fluke. Everything I've read has said there's no proven link to twins.

Mor good luck for tomorrow.

Soph I'm refusing to entertain even the possibility of MC. It just is not happening to any of us so the universe can just fuck right off, if you please. Wink

This evening for some reason people just couldn't stop talking about food blegh and the host of the children's party kept waving revolting left over cheese sandwiches and equally revolting jam sandwiches around and asking if anyone wanted one. I felt like telling her to remove them from my presence before I vomited on them Hmm
Decided not to go shopping so now we have to use kitchen roll instead of loo roll until tomorrow. The shame! Blush
And OH has decided that we need to give our child a StarWars related name. I'm a bit miffed that my sister already took Luke when she doesn't even like StarWars Hmm

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 08/01/2016 21:47

My OH suggested we call our baby Thor Batman if we have a boy Grin Needless to say, that's not happening. He has also suggested Hans and Finn. I'm doomed Hmm

Runner05 · 09/01/2016 07:37

Lol, Pink our two are obviously of a similar mindset Grin

OP posts:
sophied1983 · 09/01/2016 08:42

Mine wants Arsenal backwards as someone was in the paper who had done that.

So Lanesra. Let's hope he was pulling my leg.

Newmrs22 · 09/01/2016 09:20

Sophie I saw that! And the poor mum didn't find out it was Arsenal backwards until the girl was 2 and the dad confessed! Grin

How's everyone feeling this morning?

shelbTa · 09/01/2016 09:37

Haha that's funny.

Morning Ladies, how are we?

Early pregnancy is: waking up feeling hungover every day!!!!!

X

Pinklily1 · 09/01/2016 10:16

Morning ladies,

How is everyone feeling?

Lanesra is just awful, poor child!

This sickness thing is starting to get me down now. I don't know what I expected really but not this. Woke up at 4.30am this morning knowing I was going to be sick. At the risk of sharing TMI there was sickness and diarrhoea Confused I managed to crawl back into bed an hour later and have just woken up. Has anyone else has pregnancy related diarrhoea as well? Not sure what else it could be as I don't think I've eaten anything dodgy.

We are meant to be going out to dinner tonight at a lovely restaurant with friends and I just don't see it happening as I don't want to eat anything.

Hope the scan goes well Mor!

sophied1983 · 09/01/2016 10:26

My tummy has been upset but it could be my colitis, but could also be all the veg and soup I've consumed this last week in a bid to be healthy!

shelbTa · 09/01/2016 10:33

Aww pink. What are you at now time wise? Yes I had a dodgy tummy.

Have you actually been sick?
