Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

I didn't get a photo, will ask for one at the 12 week scan. I had myself at 10+2, so they think I'm 2 days further on than I thought I was.

Runner05 · 06/01/2016 18:25

Are any of your eating habits really weird at the moment?

I just had dinner... Crisp sandwich, hot crossed bun and a couple of hobnobs. Literally the only things I could think of that didn't make me want to be sick Hmm

Hi!

Great news Leslie!

Ah runner really you that sick? Did you say your mum suffered with it too?

Thanks for note pink that's really helpful.

Well I feel totally normal! Like nothing happening!

shelbTa · 06/01/2016 18:39

*as in 'like nothing is happening at all' not I like nothing happening!

Runner05 · 06/01/2016 18:48

I envy you Shelb Envy

It was my sister who had severe sickness. She spent most of her first trimester in bed. She is a bit of a drama queen though Hmm

shelbTa · 06/01/2016 18:52

I might indulge in an IC tonight for reassurance!

Pinklily1 · 06/01/2016 20:00

So pleased all was well Leslie!

I'm suddenly loaded with cold so feeling sorry for myself Confused

How is everyone else doing? How's the sickness Runner? Your dinner sounds immense Smile I'm struggling with food so am just going with the flow and eating what I want when I want.

Runner05 · 06/01/2016 20:12

Sickness is blegh Pink but I'll survive. My tummy has now decided to add to it by feeling hurty... Not worry about my blueberry hurty, more like stomach flu hurty... Which is incidentally the excuse I gave my mother for standing her up this evening. Karma anyone? Confused

Are you ladies taking your other half to the booking in appointment?

shelbTa · 06/01/2016 22:17

Is your booking in Appointment the first appointment with the midwife?

X

sophied1983 · 06/01/2016 22:27

Yes. Have seen my GP and they referred me. Hospital wrote with booking in appointment date and scan date. First one is 28th Jan for 1.5hrs and scan 18th Feb.

hgleslie89 · 07/01/2016 08:13

I didn't take my OH to the booking appointment. Felt like there wasn't much for him to gain, since I know his family medical history, other than watching me wince as they tried to find a vein.

Runner05 · 07/01/2016 08:54

Nope, I asked OH if he wanted to go but he said he wasn't fussed and to be honest as he's already got 2 kids I didn't think he'd get much from it.

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 07/01/2016 08:55

I didn't take mine either.

If it helps, my midwife said that if partners want to go to any midwife appointments they are always welcome but never required! She said if they chose only to go to one, then the best one is the 16 week appointment because that's when the midwife will listen to the heartbeat.

I almost had to call in sick today as the morning sickness is so bad. Have managed to pull myself together and get on the train, though I'm going to be late. At this stage I really don't care!

How is everyone else?

Shelb did you do an ic to satisfy yourself?!

shelbTa · 07/01/2016 09:09

Ah pink! That's rough, have you actually been sick? Virtual hug. I feel a bit sick today actually, I've got a vanilla milkshake but isn't going down too well. Yeah I did an ic - it was positive!

Oh has been asking should he go to the midwife appointment - I think secretly he wants to. I've said there's no need, which there isn't, but also I want the chance to talk to the midwife about a few things while he isn't there!

X

Runner05 · 07/01/2016 09:22

aww Pink I hope you feel a bit better as the day goes on.

I have no idea how I got through yesterday. I felt so sick all day and when I came home I just went straight to bed. Today I'm working from home and have no intention of getting out of bed unless I have to. This morning sickness is a killer!!! At least it's supposed to end after the first trimester but I feel a bit put out by all the sitcoms that lead me to believe that when you have morning sickness you have one bout of running to the toilet then you're fine. This relentless and constant queasiness was not what I expected!

Getting my ass over to the grads thread as recommended by Runner Wink

Days: 3+5
Due: 17/09/16

Have taken three HPTs this week and the line has been stronger each time. Aiming to book a GP appointment tomorrow to confirm everything.

Symptoms so far are enormous, round boobs (they're beginning to look fake!), insomnia and nausea. I also seem to have lost the ability to retain information.

A little scared about what lies ahead but ready to tackle whatever this pregnancy may throw at me!

Runner05 · 07/01/2016 12:24

Welcom Space good to see you over here Grin

Hi folks, also showing up as instructed by runner!
Days 4+3
Due 12th September

Currently feeling vaguely nauseous but not dreadful, had 2 appalling nights sleep earlier in the week but OK last night. Otherwise feeling massively bloated and crampy but generally fine.

So far have only told DH (and you lot!) no idea who else to tell and when. I don't want work to know until they have to (feeling mega-guilty as I started a new job role yesterday) and many of my friends are at work. I've also got my first personal training session at the work gym tomorrow morning - I guess I ought to tell them but I'm not keen to especially in the office. Is exercise at 4 weeks really going to matter at all?? Then my family would be excited to know but then we have to tell DH family and his dad has the discretion of a charging elephant (he'd probably put it on FB) - it seems way too early to tell folks, I'm worried that it's all a bit precarious until 12 weeks and I wouldn't want to have to give people the bad news later. Arghh, I've only known I'm pregnant a few hours and it's already complicated!

Runner05 · 07/01/2016 12:46

Hi Dr stop panicking!

First things first, arrange your booking in appointment with the midwife. I would tell your personal trainer as it won't be safe to exert yourself as much as you otherwise would. The recommendation is to not take up any strenuous exercise that you're not already actively involved in.

Leave telling family etc until you are comfortable and it has all sunk in. There's plenty of time. Smile

Runner that's what I'm worried about with the gym, I'm an intermittent gym goer- I was personal training and doing a lot of running up until the summer but stopped pretty much completely until then, this was my January get fit blast. Now I don't know if I can start it as its not really continuing what I was already doing but I can't face being this unfit and lazy for 9 months if I'm not allowed to pick up exercise again...
I don't know this personal trainer well and he works in a gym in our office so knows all my friends and colleagues. Plus I don't want to tell a random man before my mum! I'm tempted to try to defer tomorrow until after a chat with the Dr/midwife but then that will just make it later into pregnancy to start up. I was also told today that a friend of mine is seeing a specialist post-natal fitness person because she found the guys in the office had absolutely no idea about pre and post-natal exercise. Argh.. Stress already!

Runner05 · 07/01/2016 13:26

In that case I would cancel the fitness instructor and just do light fitness on your own for now, walking, gentle cycling etc. at the end of the day you're not going to feel like doing much soon anyway Hmm

Eek, we've just decided to tell FIL about pregnancy tonight so that he doesn't get put out if I can't eat his food. (He was obviously a bit offended on Monday) I'm slightly concerned about how he will react as I don't think he was expecting any more grand children. I think it's going to be a bit of a shock Confused

Oops, chain posting today.

Ok, so just happened on a breastfeeding topic. Someone asked what it was really like to BF in public and within 3 posts Simone came on saying that by law you can breast feed where you like and you don't have to cover up if you don't want to.

I posted suggesting that if you want people to respect your right to breast feed where you please without making comment or being visibly irritated then you need to show them the same consideration and respect by being discrete. If everyone breastfeeders and the general public showed the same level of respect for each other then the breastfeeding in public issue would be a non-topic.

Unsurprisingly a member of the breastfeeding Mafia had a bit of a go at me for this.

What do you ladies think? Personally I've come to the conclusion that some (not all) breastfeeding women are so determined to make a point of the fact that they are within their rights to BF wherever they please that they just cannot grasp the idea that it is polite and reasonable to show respect and consideration to people who they would time to show respect and consideration to them.

Rant over.
