Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

I seem to be just not in the mood for some foods at certain times. Say lunch time I'm very happy with cheese and ham toastie but put cheese near me for tea and I won't eat it. I'm hating brown or granary bread but Like it as toast. Liquids I'm loving. For breakfast I have a smoothie (2 bananas, handful of frozen cherries and blueberries and yoghurt) a cup of tea and a bottle of water. Followed by toast an hour later. I love soups, it's generally what I eat for tea and I'm just not in the mood for most foods of an evening. None of it makes me feel sick I just don't fancy it.

Salt and vinegar anything though goes down a treat!!

I too love Yorkshire decaf but I'm a black tea drinker so have no issues with milk aversion. I'm obsessed with chocolate milk at the moment- though wouldn't recommend it in tea!!

shelbTa · 03/01/2016 12:20

I think I'm the same as you guys then although maybe a bit less intense. Poor runner you seem to be quite bad!

Bunch - I'm loving chocolate milk too. Also meat and pickles. Fruit is going down well. Chocolate bizarrely seems to upset my stomach. Use to eat hallumi but the tonne, not appealing now at all.

X

BunchOfBobs · 03/01/2016 12:27

Shelb we do seem to have similar tastes at the moment. I'm loving grapes and Satsumas and yes to meat! I want Protein at random times of the day! Pickles always mmmmm.

Not to jinx it at all apologises profusely in advance but how lucky are we that none of us have puked yet?!!

My eating is worrying me though as I'm losing weight and I didn't have much to lose to begin with. My boobs have got so much bigger (auto correct just changed that to juicy Hmm) and yesterday had to go commando as my underwear was too tight, so the fact I'm losing mass is disconcerting. I hit the Ben and Jerry's last night to help but could only face a few mouthfuls.

Pinklily1 · 03/01/2016 12:36

Yes to meat and grapes though not together

I wonder when cravings are supposed to kick in?

Bunch, how much have you lost? I think a lot of people lose weight early on through sickness or just going off food so am sure it will be fine, but maybe mention it to the midwife when you see her.

I'm a bit scared about my booking in appointment now. I've never had a blood test before and hate the idea of needles in my hand or arm, so that's not going to go well Hmm

shelbTa · 03/01/2016 12:54

Currently sat in bed too dizzy to go in shower!

Bunch - you could be loosing it as your energy outlay has gone up? Or maybe loss of muscle from less gym-have you been at gym less? Have you been getting on the scales?

Aww don't worry pink, it doesn't hurt, they are pretty good at it!

Fuck I feel dizzy.

shelbTa · 03/01/2016 13:53

Just rememberd your post Leslie! Are you still spotting?

X

hgleslie89 · 03/01/2016 15:07

No more spotting, but I had some brown mucus-y discharge a few hours ago. Hoping that's just remnants of yesterday's bleeding.

hgleslie89 · 03/01/2016 15:08

No more spotting, but I had some brown mucusy discharge a few hours ago. Hopefully that's just the tail end of yesterday's blood working its way out.

BunchOfBobs · 03/01/2016 15:12

Shelb that sucks, I feel your pain and hope it fucks off soon.

I have indeed been missing out on the gym so that's a very valid point! DH got some fancy new scales so I can keep proper tabs on my weight (to check in gaining what I should) and in the last 10 days I've lost 3kg, but a so said earlier I seem to be expanding. Stupid body.

Morwenna1 · 03/01/2016 15:38

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a nice break! I used the driving excuse most of the time over Christmas. Didn't try the IBS excuse, don't think it would have washed with my friends!

Hi Sophie and Leslie! I think it's ok if the blood is brownish in colour. Bright red and lots of bleeding is when you need to worry.

I'm not really getting cravings tbh, or aversions to food! I'm still eating lots and as so far (touch wood!) I've not had nausea or morning sickness I'm not having to graze throughout the day. Cutting down on the spicy stuff though! It takes me an age to eat anything and I do have instantaneous bloating/indigestion afterwards!

Pink I'm not a fan of injections, I find it's a lot easier to look away as the nurse is doing it, as then you're not anticipating the pain when the needle goes in! But it's ok, it might ache a little afterwards that's all.

Bunch - I've been monitoring my weight and it's not really altered. Yet!

RunnerMy boobs have only grown a bit (but then I am only an A in any case). They routinely got crushed when relatives hugged me over Xmas, and that bloody hurt!

Early scan booked for next Saturday! Smile and my booking in appt is later in Jan. I'll be 11 weeks, so I'll be planning on getting the 12 week scan sorted as well!

Can I ask how everyone is feeling about the screening tests?

Runner05 · 03/01/2016 17:44

Ugh! Don't jinx it Bunch I feel like absolute shit now Sad how the hell do people live like this? Absolutely everything is making me feel queazy this evening. I'd go to bed but laying down makes me feel queazy.

Going to try to eat a jacket potato in a bit but most food just strikes me as unappetising at the moment. Suckety, suck, suck, suck Sad

Hope everyone else is feeling a little better this evening Brew

Runner, I am feeling sick again too. Sick feeling this morning, was fine after some food, then fine after lunch, and now i'm feeling sick again. I think the key for me is going to be eating little and often.

Mor I hadn't really thought about screening tests. What are your thoughts?

shelbTa · 03/01/2016 18:19

Oh no ladies! Hope it passes. I feel ok now, stew in the oven. Nervous about getting that dizzy at work tomorrow though.

We have talked about it and will be having screening tests, especially because of my age (34).

X

Morwenna1 · 03/01/2016 18:32

Well Pink I had a booklet through the post along with my booking appt date letter outlining everything. I think we will be going for the initial nuchal fold/blood test screening (combined screening) and then take it from there. It is expensive, but I'm considering a Harmony test after that if the odds are against us. The 1 in 100 chance of mc with amnio and CVS is just too high for me. And I know someone who did mc after having it done Sad Difficult decisions and what will be right for one person won't be for someone else.

BTW - Sorry to hear you're feeling rough! My mum told me she didn't have any sickness with either myself or my sibling, so that has helped to reassure me as I follow after her, er, biologically!

Pinklily1 · 03/01/2016 18:37

Thats good that you've had some information sent to you Mor. I've had nothing, other than the over the phone confirmation of a booking appointment.

When can you have the combined screening? Does that not have a mc risk? We won't have amnio or CVS due to the mc risk.

Morwenna1 · 03/01/2016 18:37

Also, Sophie I recognise your username - you came off Cerazette around the same time as me! Good to see you here on this thread Smile When's your EDD? Mine's the 16/17th of August all being well.

Pinklily1 · 03/01/2016 18:40

Just saw the bit about your mum Mor. My mum had awful sickness with me, and my sister had bad sickness with both of my nephews, so hopefully I am not doomed in the sickness department.

OH is just making a vat of spag bol so that should do the trick. Anything meaty is going down a treat Grin

Runner05 · 03/01/2016 19:18

I've had nothing about tests either. I should probably look it up but I hadn't thought that far ahead. Still in the ambiguous, I'm pregnant but it's ages before anything interesting will happen.

Just had jacket potatoes, cheese, bacon and beans again. God it taste good! OH is going to be well and truly sick of my eating habits soon Blush

So tired atm, not just physically but mentally too. Not sure how I'm going to manage work tomorrow. Luckily my first two days are half days as I need to take mum to some appointments.

Hope you ladies all have a good first day back tomorrow Brew

OP posts:
Morwenna1 · 03/01/2016 22:32

Pink Hope the spag bol worked! And I'm sure not everyone follows after their Mum exactly, so fingers crossed you'll recover from the sickness soon too! (I might be eating my words in a week or so!)

The combined test from what I can gather is usually done at the same time as the 12 week scan. The GP told me to start having a think about it (there's tons of info online, and I think there are sections on Mumsnet about it too). There is no risk with the combined test as it's a simple blood test combined with the sonographer's assessment of the liquid at the nape of the baby's neck (nuchal fold) and your stats (i.e. age is a factor). You'll then get a low or high risk factor (1 in 20000, 1 in 32 that sort of thing) which isn't conclusive, but does give some insight. Then it's whether you go on to have amnio/CVS if you're "high risk".

Runner - I know I'm writing this at half 10 at night, but I'm extremely tired as well! I have no energy or motivation to do anything at the mo!

Shelb Hope the dizziness stops for you soon too!

Morwenna1 · 03/01/2016 22:33

Probably should explain that examining the liquid is non invasive - i.e. the sonographer will look on the scan screen and then factor that into the result. They are looking for liquid less than 3mm thick I believe.

Runner05 · 04/01/2016 07:16

Morning ladies, how are you today?

Are we all back to work today? I'm dreading it! I had a really bad nights sleep (up and down to the loo like a yoyo and weird dreams) so I'm exhausted and already had to put pressure bands on to fight the nausea. I can see today being fun Hmm

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 04/01/2016 07:19

DH wants us to have every test possible where necessary so i'm booked in for my combined test immediately after the scan. If we are high risk then we'll go harmony. Worth it considering the MC risk with amnio/cvs. We seem to have differing views what we'll do with the results but no point worrying about that until we need to.

I've had two nights in a row sleeping through without needing a pee. Back to normal last night though Sad

Runner05 · 04/01/2016 07:40

Bunch I think I had your two normal nights worth of pee trips last night. I swear I was up at least once an hour.

I'm going to talk to the midwife about tests at my appointment in two weeks.

OP posts:
Newmrs22 · 04/01/2016 07:50

Morning. Back to work today. Not looking forward to it.

We'll be having all the tests. My hospital offer the harmony test (for free) if you are high risk, which is amazing (big research hospital) It's a two week wait for results though if you do have the harmony test, which I expect will be difficult. But obviously hoping not to need it. It seems the nuchal fold test is the main focus of my scan. I've been working out dates and I'm expecting I'll only be 10+5 at my scan so I think I might have to come back as I believe the nuchalfold can only be measured accurately from 11 weeks, but hopefully I'm slightly out with my calculations and I'll be a couple more days pregnant than I think.
