Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

Morning ladies, how are you feeling post new year? At least it's a fair bet none of you have hangovers Grin

I'm shattered but once I'm awake I'm awake. Still glad that it's now 2016 as I feel like I can get started on all the exciting like selling the house, moving oh and getting ready to have a baby Grin exciting!

Happy new year ladies! It's going to be a good one!

Pinklily1 · 01/01/2016 09:14

Happy new year ladies!

Shelb, how did the not drinking go? Do you think anyone twigged?!

shelbTa · 01/01/2016 10:59

Hi ladies,

How is everyone?

Pink - I ended up having to tell a few people as it was so unusual for me not to be boozing and they kept trying give me drinks. It wasn't the way I wanted to tell them but there was no other way really.

I feel hungover though how unfair is that! Really sick (probably the bottle of tonic), tired, tits are killing. Thinking about trying to find a shop today that I can get fitted for a maternity bra - has anyone else got one yet?

Happy new year ladies.

X

Pinklily1 · 01/01/2016 11:12

I suppose sometimes it's just easier to tell people rather than trying to cover it up isn't it.

I haven't got a maternity bra yet but read something online suggesting that you should get them from about 8 weeks, but it obviously will depend on each person. My normal bras are still fine but boobs have definitely grown a bit GrinI also read reviews saying Mothercare and Bravissimo are good for fitting. I was thinking of getting fitted at bravissimo so I know my size and then buying elsewhere, cheeky I know but they are are bit on the pricey side for maternity bras I think.

Runner05 · 01/01/2016 11:47

I don't think my boobs have grown at all which in pretty happy about. May look at maternity bras when I look for maternity clothes which I think I will need sooner than usual starting to be slightly concerned there might be two in there Confused

OP posts:
shelbTa · 01/01/2016 11:51

Omg runner why you think that?! The tummy / bloating thing still?

Totally agree pink, it's easier now they know.

My boobs haven't grown that much either, but they were only about a C before and my bras weren't the most supportive, very conscious of trying to preserve my old body as much as possible!

Are you guys slathering on the moisturiser on the soon to be bump? It's a right pain in the ass!

X

BunchOfBobs · 01/01/2016 12:00

Runner. I'm in clothes 2 sizes up just for comfort and there's definitely only 1 cooking.

I'm wearing sports bras and genie type bras as I can't bare wiring at the mo, plus they change shape every day. They just feel so swollen!!

I'm also feeling hungover Shelb and had to go to bed with a bucket. I blame extreme tiredness as I've not been up past 10 in weeks and last night made it to 1am. Having a bath now whilst the PILs prepare ny lunch seeing my SIL and her family today and I cannot wait as she's my go to pregnancy guru, having had 3 kids and the most recent only being 12 weeks old. Baby cuddles yum!

TMI alert. Had a minor panic this morning after a pee as when I did my normal wipe check paranoid much I spotted a streak of something discoloured. I've decided it's just left over swimmers as I've read they can look that colour and ahem we may have dtd 36 hours ago so not that bizarre to still see remnants. Proper put the shits up me though!!

Pinklily1 · 01/01/2016 12:10

I'm slathering on the moisturiser already Shelb. I bought Palmers stretch mark cream and also skin therapy oil, which are both nice. It says to put them on at least 3 times a day though - not entirely sure how i'm going to manage that. Morning and night yes, but I'm not putting it on at work Grin

I made it to 10.30pm last night - rock and roll! Very tired today though.

I also hit 5 weeks today, so depending on the app I look at, we have a sesame seed/ apple pip/ peppercorn cooking.

Runner05 · 01/01/2016 12:29

Shelb I don't really think I've got two, I'm just horrified that I'm only 5+6 and already can't bare to wear my normal clothes.

I haven't started with the stretch mark creams yet but I've got some and will be from now on. I already have a few very light stretch marks from where I was very fat in my mid teens (size 20 Shock) and I noticed yesterday that they're getting a bit more noticeable. I'm usually a size 14 but I'm in an 18 at the moment Blush really am thinking that I'll be hitting maternity clothes by 12 weeks.

Have any of you bought any more baby stuff? I'm in two minds over whether to buy stuff in the sales or wait. They do normally do baby stuff sales around spring too so I might wait until then.

Hi bunch, happy new year! Jesus really, that doesn't sound good about the bucket, is that evening sickness? Try not to worry about the wipe, agree it's far more likely to be post Dtd activity.

Blimey runner. Do you think it might be water retention? I say that as I'm really really puffy everywhere, even my face, and stuff feels tight although the scales say weight has only gone up by about a pound.

Feel sick today, not moving off the sofa, apart from to get food!

X

Runner05 · 01/01/2016 13:05

Shelb I think it's possibly a mixture of gas, water retention and Christmas! Also I think because I have been very fat before it's more likely that I'll show earlier but that is entirely speculation with no basis in science lol

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 01/01/2016 13:37

Try not to worry about the wipe Bunch, sounds like leftovers maybe Wink I am a serial wipe checker now though. Such glamour!

Runner, I already have stretch marks too from a previous overweight phase. I'm down to a 10 now but am fully expecting to get more stretch marks in pregnancy. My mum and sister didn't get any but I've decided my skin must be more prone to it Hmm

I'm dreading going back to work next week. I've got into the habit of a little afternoon snooze on the sofa which I won't be able to have anymore.

For those who are exercising, is anyone doing gym classes? I'm not sure when to tell instructors about being pg. Feels early to say now but then I think they need to know....

shelbTa · 01/01/2016 13:46

Pink - I'm going to start pregnancy exercise classes now I think, for something to do and to meet other upduffed people, but also cos I'm really paranoid about the tummy muscle split thing - yknow when it divides down the middle. Depends on what kind of classes you are going though and if it involves your abs? I'd maybe tell your instructor yeah. I'm going to keep up a fast walk / jog for half an hour each weekend (and during week when nights get lighter) and keep up bigger walks for as long as possible. Don't want to sound like a wanker but I really want to stay as fit as poss during this whole thing, do you know what I mean?

X

Pinklily1 · 01/01/2016 14:21

I totally understand Shelb. I think if we keep fit, it can only be a good thing!

I've had to scale back on running due to an injury so have upped my gym classes over the last few months and would like to continue with them as long as possible. I basically do a mix of spinning classes, body pump, circuits and metafit type classes, plus a bit of running. I was doing abs classes but gym timetable has changed which means I now can't make them, but to be honest I would have cut them out anyway as I don't think they would feel comfortable! Have you found pregnancy classes in your area?

Just thinking - who will be having the next scan?!

Newmrs22 · 01/01/2016 14:36

I've been trying to stay fit but I've just been so tired I'm struggling to make it to the gym. Hoping in the next few weeks I'll feel better and can go more.
I'm dreading going back to work too.
My scan is on the 21st Grin has anyone else got a date?

Runner05 · 01/01/2016 14:59

I've completely failed at keeping fit. I'm just exhausted all the time. I am going to get a couple of pregnancy fitness DVDs though and as soon as I've got all the moving boxes out of my living room in going to start walking on the treadmill again. I don't think it's a good idea for me to jog after leaving it so long.

I'll hopefully have my 12 week scan in about 6 weeks. Can't wait!!!

Newmrs22 · 01/01/2016 15:49

I think it's probably more important for us to listen to our bodies than worry too much about fitness. Can always pick it up in the second tri when we feel a bit better (fingers crossed)

About maternity bras. I had a look in m & s and decided that for now just some regular non-wired ones would be fine. They seemed the same as the maternity ones, just cheaper! I'll get some proper maternity ones later on but for now I think these will do.

Pinklily1 · 01/01/2016 16:03

Runner I think they say don't start running whilst pregnant if you hadn't been doing it fairly regularly prior to that, so probably best to stick with walking and the DVDs. I'm jealous that you have a treadmill in the house!

I've got my first midwife appointment on Wednesday and am hoping to get a date for my first scan booked in then.

That's interesting about maternity bras, I will have a look at some normal non-wired ones when it comes to it. I'm going to try and limit the amount of maternity clothes I do get as it will end up expensive! Has anyone tried non-wired bras before, I worry they won't feel as supportive?!

shelbTa · 01/01/2016 17:05

Just had a total wave of 'what the hell am I doing?!' after speaking to me best friend! Does anyone else think that sometimes?!

X

Newmrs22 · 01/01/2016 17:56

shelb totally! I think that's normal!

Ooh update us on the midwife appointment. Mines not until 12th.

The non wired ones don't feel quite as supportive but my friend told me the wires in bras can be bad for pregnant boobs so I'm giving them a try. I have no idea if that's true or if it's one of those myths that get bandied around.

Runner05 · 01/01/2016 19:28

Hmm interesting about the wired bras. I will have to investigate.

Pink the treadmill was a gift to myself early last year. I absolutely love it!!! One of the best things I ever bought.

My first midwife appointment is on the 18th. I too am hoping that I'll get my scan booked at then. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow, so excited!!! OH seems slightly bemused by it all.

Latest on my weird taste buds. Chips now taste "meh", the smell of dishwasher soap makes me feel ill and baked beans are the best thing since sliced bread. Turkey is still rancid and cheese goes on everything Grin

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 01/01/2016 20:01

Evening all.
I'm not worried anymore as no more wipe worries occurring Smile. I have stretch marks on my hips from puberty so in expecting more to appear. My SIL and mum both swear by bio oil so I may invest in some.

My date for 12 week scan is the 1st Feb, I think mor has an early scan booked soon.

I don't currently do gym classes , just the gym but my membership is up for renewal and this time may get classes included if they have anything good on offer. I want to do Pilates, SIL is an instructor and swears by it.

Newmrs22 · 01/01/2016 20:28

Good news Bunch.

Just did some bra research. The no underwire thing has no evidence. As long as you find them comfy and they fit properly it's fine! Bloody rumours.

shelbTa · 01/01/2016 21:27

Thanks new!

Glad to hear that bunch!

Hmm runner.....beans, might get into that tomorrow!

Well, overnight my boobs have become SO sore! I can barely even touch my nips!
