Well we were TTC but now we've graduated to growing a small human. Good buy peeing on opk's and ic's every day hello monitoring exactly how sick and bloated we feel and ensuring that we're never more than 30ft from a bathroom!

It's the TTC#1 graduates thread! Come and join us on a no holds barred exploration of first time pregnancy (but be really careful about opening any links about cervical fluid unless you have a very strong constitution... Let's face it you're pregnant so you don't)

That's amazing Bunch you must be thrilled Grin

Newmrs22 · 30/12/2015 12:18

Wow congratulations Bunch

BunchOfBobs · 30/12/2015 12:22

I thought I was 7+5 so yeah pretty much the same. But that could change again come 12 week scan, she said they can't properly date until then. It feels so scarily real now.

Morwenna1 · 30/12/2015 13:18

Sorry Bunch I didn't realise scan was today! thought it was yesterday. Fantastic that it all went well and you can hear a heartbeat! And there's only one! Wink

Could they do the scan externally then? Or did you have to have dildo-cam?!

Been getting ahead of myself, just been reading up on Strep B. The test is not offered as standard on the NHS, but in rare cases it can lead to complications in labour (v serious for the newborn if they contract a disease). Apparently it's £35 for a home testing kit if you go privately (which I think is totally worth it!) Not effective to test until much later on in pregnancy, so I think I'll ask my midwife about it at some point.

Runner05 · 30/12/2015 13:39

Food aversions have arrived. Had some turkey this morning and it tasted rancid... I love turkey Angry

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 30/12/2015 13:53

Mor. No dildocam thank god. Did have to wait in the waiting room for my bladder to fill a bit more. It's rather uncomfortable having her press down on a full bladder I can tell you!

I've read about the strep testing too. I think I may ask my midwife about it further down the line.

Has anyone else read the Mumsnet guide to pregnancy? I'm almost finished it so wondering what else to read definitely not "what to expect when you're expecting"!!

Pinklily1 · 30/12/2015 14:28

Mor, my sister had strep b, which wasn't discovered until after she had had my nephew, and they were both really poorly. If there are tests for it, i'd say get them.

Runner - is it just turkey so far?

Bunch, I've bought 'The day by day pregnancy book' and its good. It has a page for each day of pregnancy, and general info on births and caring for baby. I like to be able to read each day as I go along.

Runner05 · 30/12/2015 18:44

Pink yup, just turkey but walking around the supermarket makes me gag Hmm

OP posts:
shelbTa · 30/12/2015 20:03

Amazing bunch!! Hugs! And high five to only one.

Strep b - a friend of a friend lost their baby to this so I for one will be raising it with my midwife. I've started a list of things to ask them - also on there is placenta praevia (spelt wrong) as that can also be easily missed apparently.

Hope everyone is ok. Nothing to report today, don't even really feel upduffed!

X

shelbTa · 30/12/2015 21:01

On another note - how is everyone getting out of boozing tomorrow night?!!! I'm at a party, Christ knows how I'm going to dodge it.

X

Pinklily1 · 30/12/2015 21:14

Good point Shelb! Thankfully we are staying in tomorrow so I won't have to dodge any alcohol! I've read quite a few thread on MN where people suggest accepting a drink and putting it to your lips every so often to look like you are drinking, then either pour some down the sink when you can or get OH to drink some. Downside is your OH may then be very drunk!!

We do have nights out every weekend in January though and I have a few work events, so not sure how I'm going to tackle those Hmm

Runner05 · 31/12/2015 10:19

Morning all, how are you today?

I'm ok. The normal aches muscles, farts and tiredness... I'm getting very picky about food though and refused to eat anything but cheese sandwiches and salt and vinegar crisps yesterday. Turned my nose up at my usual favourites at Costa Confused today OH has been informed that I need jacket potatoes stuffed with bacon and cheese... I think I may be one of "those" pregnant women! Lol

Is anyone thinking of getting a doppler? I was looking at them today and they're very reasonably priced. I know it can be difficult to find a heartbeat and that freaked some people out but I think I would be able to remain calm and it would be good to hear the babies teeny tiny heartbeat Grin

We're not seeing family or friends today so no need to hide the fact I'm not drinking. Im slightly concerned the barman at my local is going to twig though lol.

Happy new year everyone Grin

Morning all

I'm still struggling with sleep and needing a wee through the night. Other than that, just nausea when I wake up. I don't have any aversions to food yet. Runner, I now have visions of you sending your OH out to 24 hour supermarkets for vital jacket potato supplies Grin

I'll confess I haven't heard of a Doppler. What is it?!

Runner05 · 31/12/2015 11:05

Pink a Doppler is a little unreasoned device that you can buy for about £30 to listen to the babies hart beat at home. Smile

OP posts:
shelbTa · 31/12/2015 11:06

Hi ladies,

I might runner about the Doppler - I'm paranoid I'm not upduffed all the time, even did an ic this morning - it's was still positive!!

You struggling to sleep pink? Ah feel for you, when I struggled a week or two in it was bloody awful!

I haven't got any symptoms really although tmi alert - ridiculous amounts of cm, has anyone else? Still got turbo nips but apart from that all ok (just jinxed myself haven't I?!)

X

shelbTa · 31/12/2015 11:13

Omg over excitement alert - I'm tempted to buy a Doppler now, too soon?!?!

X

BunchOfBobs · 31/12/2015 11:21

Morning all.

I'm not getting a Doppler as I just know I'll panic when not able to hear anything but omg hearing the heartbeat yesterday was just wow.

I'm already one of those pregnant women Runner. DH is constantly running around for me, I've had such hideous dizziness and nausea due to it I've barely moved when having a moment. I'm not averse to foods as such, but I just can't face some things. So we wait until tea time then see what I'm in the mood for and cook that. Last night was bacon and cheese baguettes mmmmmm. I still can't face breakfast so DH makes me a smoothie. I'm being so pampered in dreading the 4th!!
We're currently en route to PILs for new year. They know so no need to hide any non drinking and we're staying in due to the dog so it'll be a jools Holland watch in my pjs Smile.

Runner05 · 31/12/2015 13:25

Have jacket potatoes now. Can't wait to start munching them... I have to make them, then scoop out the potato, mix it with cheese and bacon and then bake them a bit more. God I can't wait until they're done drool

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 31/12/2015 13:29

Mmm, now I want a jacket potato!! Specifically with cheese and bacon Smile

The sleep is so annoying Shekb. I'm falling asleep on the sofa by about 9/9.30pm, go to bed, zonk out then wake up about midnight for the loo, and again at about 4am and then I toss and turn from then on till I get up.

I also have a fair amount of cm, delightful Shock

I think a Doppler would stress me out a bit.

Runner05 · 31/12/2015 21:12

OH keeps laughing at me because everything I desperately want to eat involves baked beans and I very rarely eat them normally. Just finished cheese and beans on toast. God it was good... I may be becoming a little obsessed with food Shock

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 31/12/2015 21:24

Haha Runner~ I'm also noticing a cheese theme in your food cravings! At least you are getting calcium!

Shelb, hope the night of no drinking has gone ok!

I'm going to head to bed soon (rock and roll in our house tonight), so happy new year to you all!

BunchOfBobs · 31/12/2015 21:51

Happy new year everyone. I'm in my pjs already and probably will be in bed before the bells. I'm soooo tired. Have a great night and see you all in 2016. The year we become parents Eeek!!!

Runner05 · 31/12/2015 23:11

Eeek! That's a scary though Shock

I'm just sat in the sofa watching OH play fallout4 and waiting for midnight. Then I'll be off to sleep zzzz

OP posts:
shelbTa · 01/01/2016 01:23

Well, that's a lesson learned - don't drink an entire bottle of tonic water or you will become a turbo fart machine.

Happy new year!

BlueGirl1982 · 01/01/2016 02:21

Happy new year ladies... hope you've all enjoyed your unexpectedly sober New Year's Eve Smile
