Happy new year everybody. We had a lovely Christmas and it was really nice to finally let family know our news. None of them had guessed!

My bro was visiting and I haven't seen him for 3 years it was nice to be able to tell him to his face. He had some news of his own too as he proposed to his girlfriend a few days ago. Bumper xmas for our parents.!!!

I had some lovely news today too. A friend who I met at a baby club with DD (and have seen each other most weeks since they were 10weeks old) is pregnant too! Due 6 days after me!! Looking forward to having a real life pregnancy buddy as well as you lovely ladies!

16 week midwife app on tues. Looking forward to hearing little ones heart beat.

Happy new year all. Been socialising with friends which has been quite amusing as the only sober one!
Sorry can't keep up but someone mentioned belly buttons. Mines an innie and never popped out with dd even tho I was massive lol. If I press in mine it makes me need a wee so it was a relief it didn't pop out Grin

Cookiesandcoffee · 02/01/2016 16:37

Sorry to hear you did get admitted mel hope you are home tomorrow and managing to get some sleep in there.

Lovely scan pic indians, I've been comparing mine to past DDs in a bid to try and spot any differences. No sign of a nub either, especially as I was only 11 weeks @ mine. Feels ages ago now Hmm

No sign of a linea nigra here, have never experienced one before either. I am blonde though?! (Don't know if it makes a difference)

I'm almost finding myself jealous of this diarrhoea talk, is that weird?! I do think it's possible as a hormone thing, at times about a month ago I would suddenly get it out of nowhere?

Bought my first item today! Confused now panicking if I've jinxed things. It's a neutral babygrow and in the sale from John Lewis. I keep looking at it, things suddenly feel a tad real...

redstrawberries101 · 02/01/2016 16:46

I am so paranoid at the moment but so happy for you cookies that you have bought your first item! I keep being told to enjoy every minute and I believe I should too but putting it into practice is that much harder....

My belly is an innie but hubby commented that I've definitely put on weight/ showing as the belly button is like a tunnel now. He proceeded to tell me that only fat people have that lol!

Really looking forward to scan and telling friends and extended family now.

Bluebell20 · 02/01/2016 17:21

I know exactly what you mean about jinxing, Cookies, but at the end of the day I'm just telling myself that buying things is not really going to make a difference to the pregnancy, is it?! I have been looking at maternity clothes in the sale today as there is only one pair of my jeans that I am happy wearing now - all the others dig in too much. Thinking about getting a bump band for now.

I have lots of big cardigans / shawls that will do, and I have a very loose dress from Urban Outfitters that will probably last me throughout the pregnancy. I think I'm going to hit up ebay for bargain maternity wear as I get bigger - can't see the point in spending lots of money on clothes I'll only wear for four or five months... Although some of the Seraphine dresses are v lovely...

Lucy90 · 02/01/2016 19:12

I've still got my maternity wear from my last pregnancy with DD last year. I found the best place to be new look, they had a great range and were very reasonably priced. That hasn't stopped me browsing everywhere else this time though!

mascaraisamust · 02/01/2016 19:24

I got from Asda two smart dresses, two tops and pack of maternity tights for less than £40 in their sale. I've got one pair of jeans and a black jersey top too (which I plan to use as a staple to put under all my blouses) and I'm only 11 weeks! I've organised my wardrobe into stretchy/not stretchy. Trying to look acceptable (with my roots, tired eyes, sickly looking face etc) and tempt myself out of my pjs.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 02/01/2016 20:00

Bluebell I've had a lot of what looks like very light green tinged discharge. It's very different to my previous three pregnancies but I've read everywhere that it's normal unless there's a smell or any discomfort.

Cookies I keep suffering with constipation this pregnancy but it's been especially difficult over the Christmas period. I wanted to try the nub theory too but I can't see it. Don't worry about buying stuff I think I'm getting my pushchair soon and I've bought babies coming home outfit.

Mel hope you are better soon.

Pinsey diarrhoea is very common in pregnancy but could be a bug. Just make sure you drink plenty of water in case of dehydration.

Jem we aren't finding out the sex but it doesn't stop me trying to guess. I'm impatient so it's going to be a long pregnancy haha.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We've told everyone we want to tell now but won't be doing a big fb announcement. Happy New Year to you all.

I've been pretty grumpy over the holidays. I've been hormonal since I got my BFP. DH was talking to my family about Thailand as my brother wants to visit and I got upset as I haven't been. DH has told me about his travels loads before and of course it doesn't upset me why would it. I'm also suffering terribly with headaches. I've had to take paracetamol and up my water intake but every morning I wake up with a headache.

Pinseyboo38 · 02/01/2016 20:40

Thanks for all the advice ladies, just been drinking loads of water today and managed some toast but still feel pants!
I too really need to start thinking about maternity wear, all my tops are now about 3 inches too short thanks to my ever increasing frontage lol and I am now down to two pairs of jeans. I feel a shopping spree coming on just don't want to buy too much too soon x

PamelaSD · 02/01/2016 22:07

Hello everyone. This is my first time on Mumsnet, and on my phone so hope I'm in the right place! My sister keeps talking about her online group and I never had anything like that with my first, so will be nice to join in. I am due 24the July, and my son will be nearly 3 when he becomes a big brother.

Beautician I keep getting headaches too. Anyone else finding it hard to drink?! I'm so bored of the same drinks! I actually sigh when I've got to drink squash eugh! I don't drink tea and coffee either. All drinks taste too sugary. I don't know!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 03/01/2016 04:24

beautician I've been getting lots of headaches too and a couple of times its developed into whole day migraines which literally just floor me and means I'm comatose on the sofa for most of the day. It's so frustrating and I'm really hoping it passes in the second trimester

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 03/01/2016 08:18

Mascara yes I'm fed up with all the drinking too. I don't fancy anything fizzy and I'm not a tea drinker. So all I've been drinking is water and the occasional hot chocolate from the Tassimo machine.

Hi Pam

I tried ice on my head last night a tip from my mum. It did help and I've not woken with a bad headache this morning. However, I can feel one looming. Sad

For those talking about maternity clothes I've got quite a few from the Dotty Ps sale. I got size 14 and I won't be able to wear some for a while as they are rather tent like but other items fit ok. I'm getting some maternity jeans from m & s as they were recommended to me. I feel sooo fat. All the rubbish has gone from the house now so as of today I'm going to try and stick to the slimming world plan just on my own I'm not bothering with a class until after the baby is here.

I've heard eBay is really good for nice maternity bits bluebel (annoyingly) I sold all my maternity clothes after last time on there.

mascara your asda buys sound like such a bargain! We don't have one near us it's really annoying.
beautician glad it's not just me feeling bunged up, I don't remember this from before, but I was healthier before my BFP this time so maybe it's more noticeable. That's exciting about buying your bits. This time round if I see a bargain I'm getting them. Last times I didn't buy one hat til 20 weeks. Really sorry to hear of your headaches. I've had a fair few awful ones and feel as though how ever much water I drink I still get them? I got a pot of 'tiger balm' for Christmas (hope it's safe, it was from a herbal place) that I've been putting on my temples which has helped?

Welcome pamela I didn't know about it with my first and really wish I did!! Glad you found us Smile

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 03/01/2016 09:19

As an already fat person I am dreading having to buy maternity clothes. I was a size 20 per pregnancy, and it's not so easy to find bigger maternity clothes, although they do seem to be out there. I don't think I need them quite yet though: I've got some bigger clothes from before I lost some weight and those are OK for the moment.

I'm feeling so depressed about the end of Christmas! We're taking the tree down today, and I actually cried last night when I put the lights off for the last time! Not like me to be so ridiculous so I blame the pregnancy hormones!

mascaraisamust · 03/01/2016 09:44

The ongoing battle with drinking water continues... Think I'll try fruit in it next.

Cookies Asda purchases were all online in the sale. Need a coat next.

Well my bloat seems to have disappeared this morning, back to my normal size which is bizarre! Symptoms near enough gone too. Nausea didn't stick around very long. Feel sort of freaked out that I feel normal...

Headaches are a killer, managed to not take anything yet but DH has to rub my head.

Anyone else having strange dreams?!

Youandme definitely hormones!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 03/01/2016 10:04

I've been having weird dreams since right at the start of the pregnancy mascara. Very odd!

pulpi · 03/01/2016 10:11

I've been having more anxiety nightmares, mascara. Most people's anxiety dreams involves tests, homework, but not mine. Nope. Velicoraptors.

I'm really hoping that once the hormones calm down a bit the raptors will back off. But just in case of raptor attack, I've made sure DH is in the front line so I can escape. DH is not aware of his role as bait. It's probably better that way.

I was really looking forward to the sex dreams I was supposed to get when pregnant... but raptor sex dreams seems like they'll be the worst.

Bluebell20 · 03/01/2016 10:26

HAHAHAHA, pulpi, I am killing myself laughing over your post! Fingers crossed for no raptor sex dreams!!!!

Loving all the fabulous maternity clothes tips. I had a little browse on eBay last night and popped a few items on my watch list. I had a good inspect of the old tummy in the mirror this morning, and there is definitely, definitely a little bump - it doesn't go away when I suck in! So I'm not imagining my trousers all feeling too tight.

I really have to sort out the bra situation, too; since a month ago it is literally like I have had a boob job, and as a fairly small-chested person normally I just can't get over it! I'm going to do my best to enjoy having 'a bust' for once, before my bump takes over and knocks the girls into the shadows once more!!!

Thanks for the reassurance, Beautician. I am starting to realise that lots of weird and wonderful things go on during pregnancy...

mascara, my colleague got a really cool water bottle a few weeks ago that has a compartment inside where you can put ice and fruit to flavour the water. Might be worth a try?

And welcome, Pamela!

Hi everyone. You are keeping me sane by reading your posts! So The docs want to keep me in for IV antibiotics for another week at least. Sad totally gutted. Not about staying in Hosp but for the effects to the baby.. There is a risk to the baby's hearing but they said its low compared to leaving the infection untreated and body miscarrying or being completely overwhelmed by infection which can be fatal.

Got my scan on Friday so will just go from here.

Please keep posting so I keep distracted!!!

pulpi I am literally crying with laughter!!

mel so sorry you have to stay in longer. At least you are being looked after and they'll be looking out for you an baby. Counting down the days to your scan. Thinking of you.

mascara I second the bottles bluebell mentioned, I have used mine with lemon, lime and strawberry for something sweeter. You can buy them on Amazon a lot cheaper than I paid at a fitness show.

So far I've coped with a pair of maternity leggings and maternity jeans. I'm trying to ignore the bra situation but they really are cascading over the sides Confused it means I also have to buy a load of new sports bras and it gets so expensive. I meant to look in sales but just haven't been assed. I will have a look on Asda website later mascara thank you.

pulpi · 03/01/2016 14:32

Boom! 2 hour power nap. I am rocking this pregnancy thing today.

Cookies, I found some maternity bras online at M&S for a steal that seem to be doing the trick. I highly recommend getting at least one bra that fits where your boobs are at now, especially if, like me, you weren't on the small end of the scale to begin with. I went from 34DD to 36E overnight. Yeah. And that was just after 8 weeks. Imagine my fear of the milk fairy.

Lucy90 · 03/01/2016 15:08

Im at work taking it easy Wink
It's my DDs first birthday tomorrow so DP has been phoning all day trying to sort out last minute bits!

Hello all

Happy New Year!

I'm just back home from 2 weeks away with family so thought I would check in.

Melvali - sorry to hear your news. I hope you are soon on the mend.

I'm 11+2 now- I've got my scan a week tomorrow and can't wait for it.

For the last few days I have been sure that I can feel a bump now. When I run my fingers up my belly it definitely bulges out just below my belly button in quite a firm mound. I know I have put on weight as I have been eating like a horse, but this is too firm to be flab. I'm quite relieved, and it is making this pregnancy feel much more real. I'm still in the fortunate situation of having very few and mild symptoms: the aforementioned hunger, tiredness and ever-expanding breasts are about it. Oh, and taking a while to drop off to sleep again when I get up for the inevitable pee in the middle of the night. Still, there is plenty of time yet for me to suffer some of the tougher symptoms.

I'm looking forward to the reassurance of the scan to get back into some more regular exercise, as I am really missing it. I had to go out into MiL's garden and shift a big mound of earth into a shape to turn into a green seat, I was feeling that deprived of physical exertion (much to MiL's horror). I also sanded and prepped my parents' utility room for painting and took my friend's horse out for a ride. I think my family will be glad when I go back to swimming, cycling and running! I will admit to being particularly tired after these though.

I have been lucky with clothes so far as I lost just under a stone in weight the year before last but have been wearing my old trousers etc with belts. These are now fitting much more snugly again, but should do me for a little bit longer. I have a collection of jumper dresses for the winter which will also be fine for a while. The first real casualty is my fitted suits- I fear I had the last wear of these before Christmas. I do need to get new bras sooner rather than later, so will probably shop for those this weekend. I'm still unclear as to how much bigger I should by them - just up one cup size? Or cup size and back? I'm already about a 32E/F, so might struggle to get bigger.
