I feel like Im being selfish but I feel like everyone is trying to take this whole baby thing away from me.. If thats the right way to put it.

My DPs aunt is offering to buy a secondhand pram, now that is lovely and I really do appreciate it but seeing as its my first I dont really want secondhand things for my baby, I tried to politely decline but she insisted.. Aparently later on she said it may be a new one but I kind of want to chose the pram you know? I feel like Im being such a bitch thinking like this but thats all the fun, thinking of all the things to buy and browsing but everyone else seems to be doing that for me and I want to be able to chose stuff..

Sorry about the rant but tell me if Im being a bitch.. I just cant help feeling like this

Scase could you maybe tell a fib and say your parents are taking you shopping for the baby? Or maybe say that your friend is giving you hers. It can be difficult to be honest in these situations!

Cheery1 · 28/12/2015 23:32

mascara - really hope all ok with you. Brown usually means old blood. Is it around when you'd have your period? I've read that sometimes a bit of spotting around then is common in the early months.

Good luck to all the ladies with scans tomorrow. I've finally got my booking in, not sure what to expect.....they allow 1-2 hours!

Anyway sleep well all x

beautician I've been looking at the sales as well. Even though it's really early I like to be prepared I'm a bit anal about these things. Blush I found a really lovely nursery furniture set on mamas and papas website that's half price so I think I'm going to get that in the next couple of days. I'd hate to pay full price for it later on. I also saw the bugaboo chameleon on sale in John Lewis but it sold out so quickly I didn't have the time to get it. Hoping I can get a decent bargain on it at the baby show in February. I've had a bit of a palaver with the maternity stuff I ordered from ASOS. It was out for delivery yesterday then I got an email saying it had been damaged on route - they had tried to replace it but some of the items were now out of stock Angry (6 out of the 10 items I ordered) On the plus side they are giving me the rest of the items for free because of all the hassle. So about £50 worth of free maternity gear now on its way to me Grin. Even though I've been up since 3:30am I'm feeling ridiculously happy today - finally at the 12 week milestone. Never thought we would get here after everything that happened previously - think I'll celebrate with cake for breakfast CakeBlush

allthegood - your post really cheered me up! Delighted for you that you're at 12 weeks too! What a long few weeks eh? Like you I've not slept much as booking in apt today and I get unfeasibly nervous ahead of every apt. Stupid really but because of what's happened before I can't quite believe I've got this far! Anyway, you reminded me to celebrate the milestones, rather than disappear down the rabbit hole of worry. Enjoy your breakfast cake! Smile
12+3

Cheery1 · 29/12/2015 06:12

P.s. Also made me feel better about buying some maternity jeans yesterday - was worrying I was getting ahead of myself! Might hit the online sales later!

redstrawberries101 · 29/12/2015 07:12

11 weeks today Smile

Cheery1 · 29/12/2015 07:45

Congrats Mel!

Just in way to booking in apt - on my own, DH has IBS and had to get off the train early to use a loo. He just gets so stressed. I dunno - really worried how he's going to cope over coming months. I can't be looking after him on hospital apt days, they're anxious enough already. Feel really tearful and upset.

Cookiesandcoffee · 29/12/2015 08:10

aw cheery hope you feel better soon, you shouldn't be feeling so tearful and upset. Hugs. My DH has never come to any of my midwife appointments apart from last time at the 15 week one where you hear the heartbeat. Virtual hand holding here Thanks

Yes allthegood you eat that cake for breakfast! Yummy. Congrats on your milestone. I'm debating eating a chocolate orange. But scared to eat anything for fear of acidiness. That's really good about your freebies, I hope they all fit etc Grin would definitely make my day.

mascara keep us posted if it turns red and call EPU /docs if worried. I've been there and been totally fine so don't panic just yet.

Ooo good advice scase I've never heard of using gripe water thank you . I have been necking Gaviscon from the bottle and munching on Rennies. They really make me feel sick tho Sad and with regards to your pram- you are 100% not being a bitch. I totally get it. Maybe do say your mum wanted to get one also. Can they go halves and you all have a nice day out choosing one together? My mum would understand and go along with a small white lie for the sake of feelings. But don't feel pressured into something you don't want. You'll regret it you really will. If she is still very insistent maybe do just be honest with her, and get DH to back you up if you feel a bit awkward? My MIL did buy our pram but we had a lovely few trips out to John Lewis etc trying them all out and she wasn't pushy. Luckily she understood I wouldn't want secondhand (we could afford it) and I think we bonded over the whole thing. Also, There might be similar scenarios down the line in your babies life and it might pay to (diplomatically) stick up for what you want now? In a tactful way? Good luck!

Cookiesandcoffee · 29/12/2015 08:12

Goodness me I'm 13+1. No surge of energy I was hoping for this week though Sad

Fivetoomany · 29/12/2015 08:15

Just wanted to pop in and wish you all the best of luck! My due date was 28th July 15. My dad was born at home on the 2nd Aug. Time has flown since then and I now have a beautiful almost 5month old.

Best advice is to stock your freezer up with ice lollies ready for that 3rd trimester and invest in a fan! Lifesaver's Grin

Fivetoomany · 29/12/2015 08:16

Dd!!

minieggaddict · 29/12/2015 08:28

Sorry another panicking me post. Tmi but we had sex last night and now there's pink blood when I wipe. Started very light but there's more this morning and very mild pain. I'm 14 weeks. Please let it be ok. Never had this when I was pg before Sad. So worried...

Kaytee1987 · 29/12/2015 08:35

Scase you are not being a bitch, I think people forget what it's like. Of course you want to choose your own things especially a pram - you need to check it goes in your car easily and has all the bits you need. I hate confrontation so don't have any useful advice. My mum bought some bits for my nephew and is now saying that they'll do for my baby... I spent my whole life with my brothers second hand stuff so it grates a bit but I suspect I will just say ok. At least it's not pram or cot.

mascaraisamust · 29/12/2015 09:18

No brown spotting since, it was literally a tiny bit. Light crampy/stitch feeling this morning though. Think the countdown to the 12 week scan is really getting to me now, need to chill.

redstrawberries101 · 29/12/2015 09:31

Wanted to let you all know that I ordered some swing style dresses from new look and they are lovely! Exactly what I wanted. Free flowing around the waist /stomach area. I'd had a look at the maternity range in store and was disappointed as they all seemed fitted around the bump but my friend suggested getting these in just a bigger size and I'm really pleased!

Kaytee1987 · 29/12/2015 09:37

Is it mental that I'm looking into childcare options already? Thinking of asking each mum if they would do a day each (they've always said they would help with childcare even before I was pregnant or u wouldn't ask) and there's a lovely nursery a 10 minute walk from our house, fees £40 a day (7.30am - 6.00pm) although we would only need from 8.00am - 4.30pm with our hours. We can also both purchase childcare vouchers through our work - not really sure how this works though, is it a tax saving and if it is do you get a better or worse saving if you are on the higher tax bracket?

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 29/12/2015 09:41

cheery* sorry to hear your DH can't make it. Mine didn't come to the booking appointment either. It probably would be a bit boring for them anyway as it's mostly form filling so dry those tears and remember it's a milestone that needs celebrating so even though it's not as perfect as you wanted it (DH with you) it's still significant. Next time try giving DH some kalms beforehand, it might bring down his stress levels enough to not trigger his IBS.
*
cookies according to Ovia app not only is there supposed to be a surge in energy but it also keeps banging on about a surge in sex drive at 13 weeks?! (my DH is looking forward to that as he's been deprived since BFP) I'm not so sure - will find out next week!
**
scase you could use the "safety" excuse to get out of it. There are so many programs out there (ie Fake Britain) with so many scare stories about fakes prams etc and the harm it could cause. When you're getting something second hand there's no way of knowing its origins and how safe it is. At least if you buy it from a known retailer you know it's genuine and safe
**
five thanks for popping in with the advice and good wishes! Ice lollies sound very smart
**
minie I've seen lots of people post this at various points so I think it's fairly normal. Monitor it and if it turns red or gets heavier phone your epu for advice.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 29/12/2015 09:42

aaagh not sure why my silly phone did it in bold - not intentional

Scase1firsttimemum · 29/12/2015 10:03

Kaytee I am like you! I absolutely hate confrontation and always keep quiet and just agree to everything, I really need to grow a pair of balls! Thank you for the advice everyone I will try to gather the courage to stand up and say what I want for my baby

I am 12 weeks tomorrowGrin so glad to be entering out the first trimester very soon! And 1 week till the dating scan quite excited Grin

Cheery1 · 29/12/2015 10:09

cookies thank you! That virtual hand hold really helped x

Now waiting with less stressed DH for scan...eek!

kaytee I think it's brilliant you're so organised!

Kaytee1987 · 29/12/2015 10:11

Definitely do it scase, I need to work on being more assertive! If you knew me you wouldn't think I wasn't assertive as I'm not very quiet or anything but I do want everyone to like me (take after my dad that way) and cant stand the thought of someone criticising me. When it comes to our baby's we probably all need to be a bit fierce at times as mums (and dads) know best.

Cheery1 · 29/12/2015 10:11

P.s. Thanks allthegood - great thought about the kalms. Might bulk order some!
