gnat, definitely what Culture said - your initial age-related risk has been greatly reduced due to your screening results, thus the 'negative' remark on your screen.

I've woken up leaning towards getting the Harmony done in the hopes that it will stop me worrying. I have done a bit of research this morning, and I can get it done at the NHS hospital where I want to give birth, and they reinvest the money I will spend (approx £500) into the NHS, which feels a lot better to me than lining the pockets of a private surgery. I'll see what DH thinks when he wakes up.

Mel, really glad that you eventually got the medicine you need.

minieggaddict · 27/12/2015 09:04

Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas. Congrats MissClarke Smile
Shared our news which was good but still doesn't quite feel real! Now I'm finally not feeling so ill I'm questioning things again..counting days til 16week appt now lol and willing myself to start feeling movement.
I've also got a flabby bump now which I'm actually embracing since this is likely to be the last time I'll be pregnant.

Ellizardo · 27/12/2015 11:19

Bluebell /Gnat - I think 1:1100 is about as good as NHS risk gets..it's like 1:10000 for harmony , only cvs or amino are totally diagnostic ; honestly I would have been thrilled with 1:1100 ... Totally understand your need for peace of mind but think you're in v good place now x

gnat99 · 27/12/2015 11:49

Thanks ladies, I do feel much better about it this morning. Don't think we will get any diagnostic tests - mostly because of the cost, but also, I don't know that we could or would consider a termination. We will have our nhs scan on 5th January so that will be another chance to get some information and reassurance, and ask more questions.

Kaytee, I totally agree, no one should touch your stomach. And especially strange when there is no bump yet!

Cookiesandcoffee · 27/12/2015 12:52

That sounds like a real ordeal mel really hope it starts making you feel better very soon. And a relief to not be in hospital for 3 days. Especially at this time of year.

gnat I would take that to mean a positive result also. The bloods and nt measurement surely are more accurate than age alone as the age is just an 'average'?
bluebell I think 1:1163 is a really good result, I think my last result for DD2 was around that, and I was 24 at the time. I think the NHS don't give the lowest of level risks like the harmony ones do, but then I don't know much about the harmony it's all a bit new to me. Personally I feel the risk is low to spend £500 but I would always say to keep your mind at rest.
kaytee it's never ok for people to touch your stomach, like its public property or something. DHs godfather did it to me yesterday, I don't even know him very well. And he was rubbing Christmas dinner farts not baby.

Scase1firsttimemum · 27/12/2015 19:40

I keep getting pains just before peeing, where my bladder is but not after is this still a sign of urine infection? It doesnt seem to be all the time, but I do tend to shut pain out a lot because before pregnancy Id always get cramps from the cycle and I was just so used to pains down there but obviously now a bit more aware

Ive also just had a stabbing pain on the right side of my stomach, lasted only a couple of seconds but hurt a bit, made me hold my breath a little.. Something to worry about?

Sorry for all the questions but I cant help worrying!! First time ever being pregnant, and its not at all been what I thought! Most people say its such a great, happy experience.. All Ive done is worry! Haha

Phone your docs and ask to hand a sample in, no harm getting it checked!

Thanks for your support ladies. Started the antibiotics and thrush has flared up. Just great. Taking probiotics. Sorry for tmi!

Vikkijayne2507 · 28/12/2015 00:47

Tiredness makes everthing worse bluebell its a low marki wouldnt worry too muc. Had my flight to the uk luckily ds fell asleep never again ill travel alone was exhausting

12 + 1

mascaraisamust · 28/12/2015 06:00

Scase apparently the stabbing pain is round ligament pain, have a look. I get it too, really sharp, also takes my breath away.

UTI usually does come with a dull ache and hurts when you go but it could be the start of one. Drop off a sample to your doctors to be sure!

Hope your all ok, I feel a bit yucky at the moment. Was randomly sick yesterday, only been sick once the whole pregnancy so far. Maybe I'd overindulged!

minieggaddict · 28/12/2015 09:54

I get pain when I need a wee but to me it's like pressure cos there's less room?!

Question girls: DD has a rash. She's all up to date with vaccines and pretty sure she had slapped cheek a while ago but I'm a bit worried incase it affects the baby. Please someone tell me I'm being stupid! She's not ill but we've all had coughs and colds recently.

Kaytee1987 · 28/12/2015 10:53

I have random stabby pains but think it's everything stretching out.
Minie what is the rash like and where abouts on her body? It could be an allergy to something.
A complete stranger (friend of a friend) asked me yesterday how long it had taken me to get pregnant. I answered her because I was shocked but afterwards wondered why she would ever have to know that.

redstrawberries101 · 28/12/2015 12:38

Kaytee you must across really lovely and approachable! What with having your tummy patted and people being really nosy lol.

On that front I feel a bit silly as we went out for dh's best friends birthday meal in November and the convo came up about babies and whether any of the couples are thinking of it. I replied 'not yet but soon' as we had only just started to try. The next day I got my BFP. I feel a bit silly now. We haven't told them yet and won't do until we know the 12 week scan is good. I'll see them two days after the scan at a wedding and DH will prob tell his mates then. Am I being silly?

FuzzyDucker · 28/12/2015 12:41

Hello all, I think I've caught up!

Congrats missclarke, hope everyone had good christmasses.

Slap you Mil if she touches your stomach again, my sister did it last time, really early in and I patted hers back. She was insulted! I told her that was how I felt and she didn't do it again.

I have a bump now, can't believe it as I didn't show until 20 weeks last time! 12+2 and no scan for another week and a bit! Can't wait for scan. Loads of people know though as Ive been ill/getting fat!

MissClarke86 · 28/12/2015 13:16

Melvali I had a similar conversation! Night out with friends discussing starting families, I said I wanted to wait a while until our loan was paid off and we were financially more ready. The following week...BFP! We'd stopped "preventing" but I thought it would take at least a few months.

I've got my second early scan tomorrow morning, after the last one dated me much earlier than expected...I'm feeling pessimistic as I don't see how the dates match and am expecting them to say baby has stopped developing.

I'm naturally a pessimist though and go into self preservation mode. I shouldn't really still be in this group because if everything is okay and matches their dates, it puts me at about 8 weeks with an August due date.

redstrawberries101 · 28/12/2015 14:24

Aw fingers crossed that's not the case miss Clarke!

I'm 10+6 today and my stomach is sticking out but it feels like my little pop belly has come out more rather than a bump. I keep covering it and feeling conscious, I think I'll feel better when it's a proper bump lol.

minieggaddict · 28/12/2015 16:52

kaytee it's on her lower back. It could be heat rash as she complained of being sweaty I'm the car yesterday. She's not really allergic to anything but has inherited DH's rubbish dry skin. It worried me cos my nieces have had some sort of viral rash and we've been avoiding them but think I'm just paranoid.

redstrawberries101 · 28/12/2015 16:58

You could always phone NHS 24 and get their advice?

mascaraisamust · 28/12/2015 17:05

I've got some very light brown spotting when I wipe. Been here before. Hoping when I go next it will have disappeared Sad

Scase1firsttimemum · 28/12/2015 17:07

Im sure everything is fine Mascara, brown means old so hopefully means nothing Smile

OP posts:
Kaytee1987 · 28/12/2015 17:22

Minie if you are worried it's always best to check. In the meantime put a cold compress on the rash or better yet dome e45 after being chilled in the fridge.

Kaytee1987 · 28/12/2015 17:23

I'm prone to rashes, got sensitive skin Sad

redstrawberries101 · 28/12/2015 17:30

Mascara I've got my fingers crossed for you. How far along are you now? They do say old blood of its brown. I had spotting before too and it's so stressful. Keep monitoring and phone EPU to get a reassurance scan if need be X

Pinseyboo38 · 28/12/2015 19:35

Hi ladies, hope you are all well.
I've got my dating scan tomorrow at 1:30pm and although I had a private scan two weeks ago and all was good with little one I'm now absolutely terrified for the scan tomorrow. I know it's silly but I just can't relax at all.
Oh well, nothing I can do about it, only another 18hours to go lol xx

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 28/12/2015 20:03

Mel I've quite a lot of discharge it's quite jelly like. Very different to my non pregnant discharge.

MissClarke congratulations on your engagement. I'm sure all will be well with your next scan. Keep us updated.

Kaytee you have more restraint than me I would have gone mad at anyone patting my belly or trying to tell me about baby names. My MIL told me all the ones she liked last time and I completely ignored her all classic, traditional names and the two children we already have, have modern slightly more unpopular names. So it wouldn't have gone.

Bluebell why don't you ask your midwife at your next appt to talk you through any concerns about your blood results. I'm pretty sure that's low risk and that you have nothing to be worrying about.

Mini I have a flabby bump too. I can't wait for it to harden. But at the moment it's more Cadburys roses than baby.

Pinsey good luck for your scan.

I have my scan on Wednesday afternoon. I just want it to hurry up now as I'm so so nervous and scared. I don't know why I should be used to it being my fourth. Has anyone bought anything in the sales. I bought some maternity wear from Dorothy Perkins. I hope it's not too early. I have seen a pushchair I like the babystyle oyster I was hoping it may go down in the sales but none have really. If everything is ok on Wednesday im dragging DH to boots to buy babies neutral going home outfit.

12+4

Cookiesandcoffee · 28/12/2015 21:48

mini my dd2 has had a rash since Christmas, i feel your worry. Has it got any better/worse? I hve put hers down to the virus i'm sure we must have.

To add to my rotten lurgy I have been found by heartburn and indigestion. Already!! Anyone else?! Have had it since my lunch at 12 and haven't been able to eat since Sad

mel so sorry to hear of the thrush/antibiotics situation. Always happens here too. I really hope it buggers off soon. I think you're allowed cream and maybe pessary? Go to the docs and get it free!

missclarke please stay even if they do date you in August.

pinsey good luck for your scan tomorrow I'm sure all will be good
