Yes lilkel, totally with you on the being so big I can't tie my shoes!! I am a pretty lazy person anyway so none of my shoes have laces! As soon as the sun comes out in spring I ditch my socks until the autumn and wear flip flops all the time. It's great! I do, however, get really annoyed when I get so big I can't cut my toenails (or paint them), that really is an issue! I love those ballet shoes, I have loads of them, except mine are from New Look and cost £10 a pair! (Not that I'm a cheapskate or anything!) Also the Birkenstocks are great, fully adjustable for horribly swollen feet!

Oooo Seansgirl, I hope my stretchmarks don't bleed! I remember them hurting when severely pg, but bleeding- ouch! You have such nice bros, mine would never think to buy me a pressie (although he is only 19 and a student and has no money!).

Gosh, what a long post! Sorry!
Off to buy some iron now, or I might be lazy and make dp take me to the Boots superstore when he gets home, that does sound like a better idea!!!

Seansgirl · 01/02/2007 12:14

Totally agree on the shoes....have been thinking about these \link{http://order.next.co.uk/page.asp?b=X39&p=296&o=1#}

notsolilKel · 01/02/2007 12:16

Marylou, tee hee hee, Cath foot binding, oh dear oh dear. If she ever comes across this thread she'll probably hunt us down and kill us slowly. With 'bird print white' printed clubs. Hoo hoo hoo

H&A I wouldn't mind a bargain - my last pair of fave ballet flats were from Gap and wore them to pieces. Always cautious though cuz cheaper ones have made nasty welts and cuts into my feet as they weren't so soft and comfy. Is New Look really worth checking out?

Seansgirl · 01/02/2007 12:28

this link thing isnt very easy! Where am I going wrong lilkel?

Anyway yes shoes, was thinking ballet shoes, flip flops and possibly some sling backy ballerinas but no laces. Am already finding boots a bit of a struggle! Think the french shoes are lovely - personally am going with quantity not quality....so probably Next or Faith for me!

And I'm liking the sling idea...very inventive!

Glad I wasnt the only one on the Kirsty thing was worried that this was a very hip trend that I was not party to......

Sorry H&A ws not meaning to scare anyone re. stretch marks! I was just shocked when i found out.... think my DBs would have been the same at 19 H&A, they needed to save their money for beer so no way would they be so generous. Funnily, now they are 26 & 33 they can afford to spend more on their unemployed big sis than I can I them! What a refreshing change!!!

hollyandalice · 01/02/2007 12:30

Loving New Look's ballet pumps! Don't know if they have many in at the mo, but in spring they have every colour and pattern imaginable. I would buy their leather ones though coz the fabric ones are a bit stiff and blister making. Although that may just be me (I have v large size 8 feet and find some shoes a bit tight!!)

hollyandalice · 01/02/2007 13:22

grrr...the cheeky sods at Adams have just changed their Nectar points! It used to be £5 off for 500 points, it's now only £3. Just went on the website to order my vouchers and they've changed it since last week. Have 4000 points and was gonna go and buy some small blue stuff to cheer myself up. They've well and truly scuppered my plans!
Just thought I'd get that rant out!

annobal · 01/02/2007 13:42

Just have to say Seansgirl that I totally agree with you re Kirsty's outfit. In fact it was quite a cleansing programme last night as DH and I both had quite a rave (HOW annoying was the guy). Very good point - Kirsty's top/dress looked like one of Kath's rejects .

Am totally with you on the ballet pumps. Always good for when the baby is born too. The White Company had some great ones in pink and brown in their sale - might be worth checking out at half price...

Have had 2 sick ds' at home for the last 3 days. Not quite used to this "no nursery" malarchy so the sooner they get well the better.

Seansgirl · 01/02/2007 13:53

LOL Annobal - you weren't the only ones ranting at the telly he was without a doubt extremely annoying... don't know if you heard him say in the first house "you could take down that hedge"(WTF???) surely that is NOT very eco-friendly?! No it wasnt the eco bit that was irrating it was his annoying attitude..."well you couldn't call that a view" (What? theres nothing but countryside you idiot!) I was probably shouting at the telly more (hormones of course) than DH have to admit!

Totally sympathise with the no nursery thing! It is sooooo difficult to do anything and keep them amused when they are at home!

annobal · 01/02/2007 14:04

LOL - and what about the "it's really windy up here" DOH - how else are you going to work your turbines???

I do look forward to Wednesday nights - it must be my rock n'roll life style - Relocation followed by a bit of Ray Mears (on repeat) then bed.

Not sure how I've managed it but 2 LOs asleep at the moment - so instead of catching up on sleep or anything constructive, I'm lurking on Mumsnet and watching neighbours (Skye just got Kerry back - hurrah).

notsolilKel · 01/02/2007 14:05

Seansgirl - you were close on the link. Just forgot to put the description bit in before your final } ... and by the way the shoe style at Next I think is cute! But I bought a pair there 2 yrs ago and my feet looked like someone had stepped all over them after just a few minutes, all bruised and sore. Beware!

Location, location - how have I missed this programme so far? I must watch every bleedin' property show on telly, but not this one? Am I too busy tuning in to America's Next Top Model?

Re the nursery thing - how old are your kids? Just wondering as I just started putting my DS into nursery 1 afternoon a week to give me a break & him a chance to play with other kids. He's 10.5 mo...

hollyandalice · 01/02/2007 14:12

LOL annobal- so it's not just me that watches neighbours! Have to admit I did have a little tear when she got her baby back- damn hormones! Made me a little cross though. Would you have been sat in a hospital bed if someone had stolen your baby? You'd be out looking for her surely. Also just seen Mandy from Hollyoaks on Doctors. She's really gone up in the world ! Do I watch too much TV? Yes I think I do!!

annobal · 01/02/2007 14:12

DS1 is 3 1/2, DS2 is 2 tomorrow. DS2 goes to the local gym creche but DS1 is in nursery / preschool 3 days a week.

Oh dear - I am now watching DOCTORS!!! WTF??? Thank god my M&S order has just arrived - a distraction - and my DD bras

annobal · 01/02/2007 14:13

Sorry H&A - cross posted - also noticed Mandy

Seansgirl · 01/02/2007 14:17

LOL Annobal forgot the windy bit. It was also that he said "Is it always windy up here?" like Kirsty would know. Of course its something that estate agents put in the details all the time! My life pretty much as rock 'n' roll I watched Jamie Oliver (much prefer Jamie than I'm so bloody good Gordon bloody Ramsey!) straight after and recorded Bridget Jones. How sad!

Thanks Lilkel, must try again on the links.

Nursery - DD is coming up to 4. She has been going since 2.5, TBH I think she would have gone sooner (it was just me being a softee!) never had a problems, she started with 2 mornings going up to three, and always slept for 1 hour when came home! She has been doing 2 full days and a half a day but have just cut it back as she has been so tired from the full days she has been falling asleep in her tea a night! and then the days she was off still needed a 1 hour sleep so have decided too much too soon! But then they are all different! Just doesn't work for us as she is naughty mainly when over tired!

Seansgirl · 01/02/2007 14:24

Annobal, when is DS1 4? DD is & in April, must be similar ages! Yes, should have said it is pre-school class at a nursery not LEA preschool as couldn't stand the Headmistress way too scary!!

annobal · 01/02/2007 14:29

He's 4 in September. It is such a lovely age isn't it - I don't think he ever stops talking (except to cough at the moment). At the moment he is obsessed with Spiderman and was looking in the mirror on our built-ins so he actually got 3 reflections - now he has 3 Spiderman friends

Seansgirl · 01/02/2007 14:54

It is a lovely age, I only said to Dh last night that I want her to stay little and not grow in to a horrible teenager they are so sweet. My fav is when she comes up to me unexpectantly and says " Mummy I've got a kiss and a cuddle coming up for you..." ahhh!

Having said that in the sapce of two hours yesterday she put 6 wooden animals in the stereo speakers (just in the fabric cover thus making the hole massive), drew in the top of the loo seat with felt pen and put finger marks over DHs new toy - the flat screen telly...

sputnik · 01/02/2007 15:03

Got me thinking about shoes you lot, I spent the end of last pg in those slip-on trainer things, even pulling up the back on a shoe is too much effort for me, anyway, went flicking through the Birkensock site for something backless (you are such a bad influence Lilkel), and quite fancied one of the Heidi Klum pairs , then saw the price... 170... pounds, for a pair of sandals! [Faints emoticon]. Expensive tastes, me. Luckily I then discovered they have some normal priced ones too.
Having problems really with this maternity gear business, can't find anything I like in the shops here, also as we're "between seasons" as it were; lots of websites won't deliver to Italy, or charge outrageous amounts (eg. Blooming Cheeky £25 ).
Also I just don't like the thought of shelling out for stuff I'll only wear for a few weeks and don't like all that much. But, as you say Mary Lou, naked pg lady look not a good one. Also have difficult tastes, eg no synthetics, no flowers (Cath, you won't be seeing a penny of mine ), no pink.... It looks like Jojomamanbebe again, ok but a bit yawnworthy. Anyone got any suggestions?

sputnik · 01/02/2007 15:08

By the way, congratulations Lilkel and Bumperlicious, your threads made the MN newsletter!!! Fame at last.
Did you come to a decision yet on the sex thing Bump?

hollyandalice · 01/02/2007 15:17

Do you think my little boy would be scarred for life if he had this carseat ?
It's soooo pretty!!!

sputnik · 01/02/2007 15:23

Have to admit that is cute H&A. Make sure you take plenty of pics of him in it to pull out at his 16th birthday party.

marylou23 · 01/02/2007 15:36

Sputnik, do have a quick look at Isabella Oliver isabella oliver - it's very monochrome, very fluid and I think the clothes are ones that you would wear again - my trousers are long fluid jersey trousers with stretchy high waist you can wear up or folded over - post baby they'll be great for slouching and/or yoga but they look really smart, too. You can get dresses, trousers, and there's a sale on, too... I think Davina used to wear them on Big Brother, if you ever saw that when she was pregnant? I've just checked and delivery in Europe is £12...

hollyandalice · 01/02/2007 15:52

Also think dd needs one of these !
Oh dear, I need to get off ebay NOW!!!

marylou23 · 01/02/2007 15:56

Ooh, we like very much. Don't tell the others, though; they'll all be bidding...

sputnik · 01/02/2007 16:13

Thanks Marylou, that site has some very nice stuff, I'm seriously tempted.
