Quick question - we're out for dinner this eve and looking at menu everything seems to come with a shellfish sauce. Just water with boiled shells in right and cream probably? Do we think this is ok? i never know the deal really with seafood and pregnancy!

SoniaShoe · 28/11/2015 14:31

I think shellfish sauce would be ok as it's cooked. Sounds like a nice restaurant

Mordirig · 28/11/2015 14:33

Cheery1 Seafood is ok so long as its cooked, so the sauce would be cooked first and then cooled/cream added so it should be fine.
The only fish/seafood you shouldn't eat is swordfish/marlin and shark because they contain too much mercury.
Never eat raw seafood like certain sushi and you should be safe.

Mel glad that you are going to get a scan. I'm sure everything is ok.

We have a definite name for a boy and about five lovely names to choose from for a girl. Would love to be able to use one of my girl names. I just don't see it happening. I guess I'll always have a little sadness there that I won't get to see a daughter be married or have a baby.

MIL hated our ds3 name. She said she wouldn't call him it(she does now). This was said when I had just got home from hospital in front of a room full of visitors. If she says anything this time ,ill or not I will be putting her straight.

We have friends over today. So I'm trying to hide the constant nausea. Doesn't help that I'm ready for bed & that I've got to pretend to drink later Hmm

8+2

BearStuff · 28/11/2015 15:21

I've been struggling with toddler guilt- have been feeling so rubbish (lack of sleep + nausea + picked up DD's bugs) and so wiped out, I've been mostly amusing her by means of Peppa Pig and Disney movies. Keep hoping I feel a bit more perky pronto.

I've told DH that he doesn't get to know my baby names this time around. He was super opinionated last time, only liked names I didn't like and ruined lots of good names for me by making silly statements about them. When it came to it and DD was born, he was so traumatised from the whole labour process that when I suggested DD's name he just blankly and stared into space and said 'OK. Whatever. Whatever you think' Grin

Cheery1 · 28/11/2015 15:33

Thanks ladies! Much clearer, I'm just a paranoid android after mc last time.

Sonia - it's a lovely French place in Islington, London. Le mercury if you're ever near by, totally recommend it. Not pricey either!

Mordirig - Thanks so much - feel better about what I can eat now x

redstrawberries101 · 28/11/2015 16:06

Hi girls, had my scan today and they could thankfully see the flicker of a heartbeat

My last period was 11th October so I had made myself 6 weeks 6 days today but they said I'm only 6 weeks by the measurements. They were pleased that they picked up a heartbeat though :)

That means when I tested on the 8th November and got a positive, I was only 3 weeks. Seems strange!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 28/11/2015 16:19

Good news Melvali!

Ellizardo · 28/11/2015 16:25

Cheery - I know Le Mercury well (used to live in Clerkenwell), it's ace! We went to Pizza Express this lunch with DC1 and they're serving Brussels sprout pizza?! I, er, didn't choose that option. Salted caramel profiteroles for pudding though, very nice..

Have my booking in appointment tomorrow. Excited! Makes it all the more real. Nausea pretty bad at times during the day and was in bed at 830 last night...quite a change from my first pregnancy.

For those asking about Harmony (sorry, know it was a while back), I had it last year at the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley St as I had a 1:30 chance of Downs from my blood tests/age (the nuchal test was fine). Very reassuring and yes, we knew we were having a boy at around 13 weeks which was ace.

Melvali - good to hear about scan. Is it booked sometime soon?

Mordirig - I actually had a dream about your name last night?! It was a Game of Thrones / Lord of the Rings fantasy type thing. Quite clearly pregnancy and Mumsnet is infiltrating my subconscious..

Loki17 · 28/11/2015 16:30

Great news Mel!

Cookiesandcoffee · 28/11/2015 17:10

Yey Melvali ! So relieved for you, hoping this makes you feel much better. The measurements at that gestation are so small the dating isn't terribly accurate, I would wait until 12ish weeks to get an accurate measurement. Did they see a source of any bleeding or anything?

bearstuff been a very similar day here! We did go to the cinema but since then it's been Peppa.

beautician is it you that has 3 boys already? Sorry if I've got it wrong. I don't blame you if you secretly want a girl. Will you be finding out? It's good you still have a boys name you really like! I feel like I've used up my girl ones. As this is last time for us I would (not so secretly) love a boy!

Ellizardo · 28/11/2015 17:17

Melvali - fantastic!

SoniaShoe · 28/11/2015 18:22

melvali great news about your scan and heartbeat, enjoy the rest of your weekend now

beautician hoping for a girl for you!

I'm off to a party tonight, tired and grumpy and not looking forward to it. I'm the taxi and I'm going to watch everyone get drunk while stuffing myself on the buffet. Hope you all have good evenings.

Gx91 · 28/11/2015 18:59

Great news Mel! So glad everything's ok and u got to see the little heartbeat GrinFlowers X

Gx91 · 28/11/2015 19:02

i called epu and they said to come in if I bleed spontaneously , not worried as they said its common to have spotting after sex
Just tucking into curry from the Indian so will probs b sleeping soon X
Hope u all have a lovely evening whatever u r up to Grin x

redstrawberries101 · 28/11/2015 19:02

Thanks girls.

Sonia shoe hope the evening isn't too bad, sometimes the symptoms come in waves. Hopefully you will be fine when you are there

Cookies and cream - they didn't find a source of the bleeding, they said they can't really explain it apart from
Increased blood flow to the area and perhaps some bruising. They said that I could get my GP to check the cervix and see if it could be coming from there as cells often change during pregnancy.

I am a bit perplexed about the dates I must say. She said it measured 9mm.

I've had this wave of exhaustion over me and just want to get into bed for the night. I don't know how people do pregnancy when they have another child.

BearStuff · 28/11/2015 19:03

Great news mel! Such a weight off! Hurrah!

MissClarke86 · 28/11/2015 19:05

Fab news melvali, so pleased for you.

OH is out tonight and I'm feeling a bit lonely! All my friends live a bit of a drive away and I'm longing for a friend to just pop round for a cuppa!

Sounds really sad but I'm hoping to meet some lovely local mums to be once I start antenatal classes.

MissClarke86 · 28/11/2015 19:06

Oh and I'm on my 4th episode of one born every minute!!

Vikkijayne2507 · 28/11/2015 19:18

Loki17 · 28/11/2015 19:21

I'm 7 +1 today and have lots of dampness 'down there' to the point that I keep going to the loo expecting to see af. Anyone else? My scan can not come soon enough.

redstrawberries101 · 28/11/2015 19:39

Loki I just feel really dry apart from when I've had the bleeding. It's so uncomfortable

Tsotofamily · 28/11/2015 20:04

Hi all
hope everyone is Ok. I seen the midwife on Thursday who seemed lovely, I was hoping I'd get the same lady I had with my other 3 but she's retired. But never mind.
Im waiting for my scan date to come through which midwife said it should be between Xmas and New years, can't wait Grin

mascaraisamust · 28/11/2015 21:11

Mel brilliant news, we are the same dates then, 6+6 here too. Even if I got my dates all wrong...Confused I better go and get a booking in form Monday I guess then Hmm thanks for those who helped me date it, I've just 6 days forward (for now, I think the scan will put me back).

Haven't really done anything today, went shopping, felt tired and not really myself. Not cold tonight! This is a first since I found out.

Vikkijayne2507 · 28/11/2015 21:17
