doc I've already swarn off more than a couple of hour round trip at 26 weeks, it's just too uncomfortable for me even as a passenger. It was a struggle for my nan's funeral last week, 5 hours with regular breaks and 2 nights in a hotel. Not much would make me agree to go for that long in a car until bump arrives!
The meal sounds a bit cheeky too, that in itself wouldn't put me off. But the traveling certainly would.

missy so glad to see flump is still staying put. And that your dh has been signed off work, none of you need any extra stress at the moment.

Actually have a tiny bit of energy today. Have tidied most of dd's room, just have to sort out the mass of cuddlies on her bed. Put on a load of washing and got it in the dryer. Done the shopping and don't think I forgot anything, didn't struggle with the walk there and back. Made dd lunch. And so far I haven't wanted to fall asleep on the sofa. More than I've managed to do in one go for quite a while. Will attempt to sort and put away the mountain of clean washing dh has done this afternoon.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 26/11/2015 12:40

trijo glad it doesn't appear to be anything serious - hopefully was just a one off.

Here's my bump pic at 25+2! Still massive but I think growth may have slowed a bit - though that may be wishful thinking!

Also doc that sounds tough. I wouldn't go if it meant doing 5 hours driving myself. Could you get the train or would it be too expensive? Meal sounds a bit cheeky too!

Me624 · 26/11/2015 12:45

Personally a 2.5 hr journey and a £25 lunch bill wouldn't phase me doc. I will be travelling 2 hours there and back into London at least once a fortnight for work right up until I finish at 38 weeks. But then I've had a very easy pregnancy so far. If you don't really fancy going right after Christmas and because of cost then don't feel bad about it!

TriJo · 26/11/2015 13:26

Doc - up to you, it would be perfectly understandable if you didn't go particularly at that stage, and particularly if you're driving and the meal is expensive. We're going back to Ireland for 9 days over Christmas, but never travelling for more than around 2-3 hours on a particular day and taking trains where we can for easy bathroom access! I've also twisted DH's arm into actually paying for priority boarding this time for the Ryanair flight out to Dublin.

Gingerlady123 · 26/11/2015 13:28

Missi- good to hear from you and great to hear baby is still staying put. Every day baby will be getting stronger. It's awful how your dh work has been over it all. You would think they would have a bit of sympathy. I am sure your ds will have lots of fun where he is.
Trijo- that sounds really scary. Hope your feeling better now and are able to get some much needed rest.

Woke up at 2:30am last night and vomitited again. I called oh as it was all red and I was terrified it was blood but he said it didn't look like blood to him. I'd eaten baked beans about 7pm but I doubt it was them. I have been having nose bleeds through so maybe it's that. It's only this week I've been vomiting at night. I wake up with a horrendous burning in chest and have to vomit to get rid to it. I have been burping a lot as well all day long so I reckon it's something to do with that. Also struggling with the burning during the day in the way as well it's horrible.

Re the weeing I was up three times again last night. Thanks for all the suggestions, I will ask my midwife next Thursday at my app. I'm hoping I'll feel a lot better after next weeks app. I have been referred for counselling and hoping it happens sooner rather than later. It's weird that I'm weeing no more than usual during the day. I'm out this evening so I wonder if it'll be the same or less.

What happens if I do have gestational diabetes? Is baby likely to be affected or harmed in anyway?

Gingerlady123 · 26/11/2015 13:29

Also havnt felt baby move properly for two days now. Nothing I can definitely call baby. 24 weeks on Saturday

QforCucumber · 26/11/2015 13:47

ginger the movements i was feeling slowed down/stopped for about 3 days over the weekend and earlier this week, then yesterday and today I've been battered and punched like mad.
They can still hide away and tuck themselves into little spaces at this point.

Have you tried taking rennies or gaviscon for the heartburn? also peppermint tea and making sure you lay on your left side can ease heartburn too. (i suffer terribly with it even when not pregnant)

3 times in the night doesn't sound unusual, baby is growing now and if in a strange position they she may be laid right across your bladder, even halving the amount of fluid it can take.

docmcstuffins1 · 26/11/2015 14:02

Gestational diabetes wouldn't harm your baby at this stage Ginger, as far as I'm aware the risk is of a big baby if left unchecked for a long time in the 3rd trimester, also risk of low sugars in the baby after birth. They don't even do GTTs in high risk women until 36 weeks, so the risk before that must be small. Regarding movement, I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and still have days where I hardly feel him. My MW said not to worry until the movements settle into a regular pattern (usually around 28 weeks).

Thanks for all the suggestions re the christening, going to speak to my sister later, me and her may go down together and leave her family at home (they're not bothered about going), and then she can do some all of the driving.

TriJo glad you check up went ok, I have low BP and often get very woozy/ dizzy spells, especially if I'm a bit hot. Make sure you look after yourself.

TheMshipIsBack · 26/11/2015 15:31

ginger GD is rarely diagnosed till 28+ weeks, but you could always ask to do the GTT if you're concerned - I can't imagine they'd say no - most of us are trying hard to avoid it as it's kind of gross! I'm 25+5 today and starting to get up in the night to wee a couple of times, so it's not at all unusual. I think you actually need to drink more fluids than you are, judging by what you listed, and the fact you're still vomiting sometimes. If your bladder is irritated, more fluids (water if you can, weak herbal tea or diluted cranberry juice also very good) will actually help it feel better and let it retain its load for longer. I'm also still having days when I don't get a lot of movement, and then the party starts again the next morning. doc is quite right about 28 weeks being when you need to start monitoring movements.

I'm going out to try car seats in our car and the grandparents' car on Saturday afternoon. Already pretty much know what I want for baby, Maxi-Cosi Pebble with the isofix base (possibly the Plus, but I don't really know what the difference is and it's a lot pricier - we had a Pebble with DS and I loved it). But DS is outgrowing his ERF seat and I was thinking of a Britax Evolva 123 Plus as he's just at the top of the ERF sizing but not really ready for a group 2/3 high back booster. He's pretty skinny and the highback boosters look too wide for him. Anyone here gone for the Evolva for an older child?

Me624 · 26/11/2015 17:02

Feeling heartened as I'm on a packed rush hour train to London for an event this evening for work and a lovely lady has just given up her seat to me. I did say I was fine to stand (the journey is only 30 minutes) but she insisted which is very nice of her. I hope all the men with seats are feeling suitably guilty now!

TriJo · 26/11/2015 17:57

If they're anything like the selfish fuckwits on my train home today then no, they're not in any way guilty. Middle aged man in the priority seat literally stared straight at my bump for two stops before getting up at King's Cross, then an obese woman tried to push me out of the way as I sat down. My commute lately is doing a wonderful job of showing me how many really horrible people there are around the place.

IndomitabIe · 26/11/2015 18:37

Ginger I've just been looking for an app or podcast to help me deal with my own anxiety issues (mainly workplace related, but it extends sometimes!) and I've found this one: Self-help for Anxiety Management by University of the West of England
https://appsto.re/gb/ljHVN.i Obvs I haven't used it yet, but it's developed by UWE so it has some credibility. I wondered if you might be interested.

Q - that sounds horrible, poor you. Fortunately DS (and DH) seems to be fine!

Ooh, TriJo, that doesn't sound very pleasant. Hope you're ok.

Your commute sounds awful. I commuted 3 hrs each way to London as a (mature-ish) student for a year. I'm glad that period of my life is over! (And now I drive across the moor!)

People have started asking me if I was "this big" with DS! (Er, no, not this big!) and DS himself pointed out I had a big tummy and big boobs this morning (DH thought it was hilarious!). I'm kind-of OK with it, for now. It's all to be expected (the growth and the comments), and it somehow feels separate from people commenting on my actual, normal, real body.

TriJo · 26/11/2015 18:48

I had planned to switch to earlier hours in work (start 7:30-8am, finish at 4) in the new year, seriously getting tempted to do it from next week at this stage. Might start working from home one day a week too if I can.

MyNameIsSuz · 26/11/2015 19:30

Do it trijo! I switched to 7.30-3.30 a while back and it's ace, I'm so tired in the evenings it's nice to take it slow! And I'm actually not up any earlier as it takes less time to get to work.

IndomitabIe · 26/11/2015 20:28

Just spent a good 10 minutes watching my belly shudder and wobble as baby booted me right across the front!

He's been kicking into my back & pelvis all day, so been quite muted. It's nice to have him turn round and do "proper kicks"!

DH couldn't muster the attention to watch or feel!

Hope he performs again tomorrow. I'm seeing some old colleagues, one of whom is my IVF friend (with twins!).

gemsparkle84 · 26/11/2015 21:11

Hi ladies.

I've had a brief read of the thread sounds like everyone is getting on well bar the obvious usual complaints Wink

STAY PUT FLUMP

The ladies who are suffering with anxiety... I can sympathise. I have really severe health anxiety and OCD. Basically in convinced I have cancer, which trust me is not nice when you're 26 weeks pregnant. It's based on lots of different things but my major concern now is a lump I found in my breast a few weeks ago. I've had an ultrasound and apparently it's a cyst, but does that stop me worrying? NO.

I had my first CBT session yesterday. It was really good, my therapist was fab and I feel more positive. It's really hard to fight the urges to be checking and seeking reassurance from everywhere though, I'm working very hard.

Anyway my point was having briefly looked through the thread I noticed some ladies are suffering with anxiety and just realise you're not alone. Yes sometimes you feel crazy and wish you could stop your brain asking the questions it does but it is ok. Share your feelings with someone (on here helps but you need to do it in the real world too), don't ever be afraid of your health professionals judging you or involving other services etc, they are there to support YOU.

Stay well everyone oh and for those with back/ hip/ leg pain AAAARRRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Xxxxxxxx

Gingerlady123 · 26/11/2015 21:44

Thanks everyone for your advice you've all been so helpful :)

Indomitable- great about the kicks. I love it when she does move. Thanks for the link. I shall take a look and see how I get on.

Only been wee twice since 6pm today but I now have constant need to wee but nothing is coming out.!! I can't sleep with this urge. Should I get re tested for a uti or is this just baby putting pressure on my bladder? I drunk more today and less sugary stuff than usual.
Thanks for the advice on the heartburn I think that's what's making me vomit in the night now. I didn't realise rennies etc where safe in pregnancy I will have to get something or try the tea.

Gem- I sympathise in the last six years I've had every illness imaginebale. It's totally life destroying isn't it. I'm glad your getting some help with it.

Gingerlady123 · 26/11/2015 22:24

I think I shall phone in sick tomorrow and see the nurse at the surgery as I'm just so anxious. I think the benefit of having my mind put at rest outweighs everything else at the moment.
I've had six or so sick days in two months though

ffauxlivia · 27/11/2015 00:42

gem that was a lovely post, thank you - and ginger hope you get some answers tomorrow. I think CBT will be more helpful than counseling for you so try and push for that if you can - I did counseling and it was nice to talk to someone, but I believe CBT tries to help you change the negative and anxious thought patters using more practical techniques that you can use on your own.

I've had a lovely Thanksgiving day - we had our first proper snow and it was Christmassy and magical! Was lovely to be taken in by a family but it was a bit cheesy having to say the things we are thankful for - we felt far too British for that!! But it did make me realise I am frikking thankful to just be pregnant right now, after all the struggles just to get here. So am determined to try and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy!

I'm in a US March 2016 babies Facebook group (700 members!) and we had our first birth in the group their last night, at 25 weeks. She was 1lb and 9oz and is doing very well, doctors are very optimistic. The pictures are incredible. But Flump don't go getting any ideas, we're not ready to see you for a long time yet!

IndomitabIe · 27/11/2015 06:47

Yes, ffaux! I imagine thanksgiving isn't very British at all!

Glad Flump's still behaving - hope your other group's 25 weeker is ok.

It's Friday!

Try to relax today, Ginger. Sleep if you can. Thanks

marmiteandcheeseplease · 27/11/2015 06:58

Morning all!

Terrible nights sleep here, still feeling bunged up and DD has woken up crying for the fourth/fifth night in a row. Really have no clue why she's suddenly waking up every night but its difficult to cope with! Then my stupid body clock woke me at 6 am... DD is still asleep now, think she must have had an awful nights sleep as I could hear her crying sporadically through the night.

Haven't seen beautiful on here for a while, hope everything's ok!

missi hope flump is staying put - great that you made it past two weeks, hope flump stays put for a while longer!

Me624 · 27/11/2015 06:59

Just bought our car seat on Amazon, reduced to £70. For anyone interested in prams, Mothercare and John Lewis are both doing deals today where you get a free car seat when you buy the pushchair/carrycot combo. It's a good deal but the pram we want isn't included sadly!

QforCucumber · 27/11/2015 07:26

Aw me is that the cabriofix? I've just seen it but want it in black or grey, the red just wouldn't go with the pram and stuff for us damn it!

Me624 · 27/11/2015 07:29

Yes Q the Cabriofix! It's what we wanted anyway (teeny car) and I don't mind the red. We're going to get a black pram so I think it will go ok.
