I did wee more often in first trimester, but in recent weeks gone largely back to my usual 'schedule' (I.e. not at work - no time!). Still waking up for one overnight most nights though. I don't think you've got anything to worry about maybe.

But I have had that "really need a wee" feeling followed by a pathetic dribble. Seems to be related to how baby is lying using my belly like a hammock.

And yes, I expect this experience to increase in frequency as I go into the 3rd trimester.

Me624 · 22/12/2015 13:44

Gem I know what you mean, I am not needing to go an excessive amount yet but I often think oh wow I really need a wee and then when I go hardly anything comes out! Must just be the pressure of the baby on the bladder. I also get annoyed by the fact that I go before I get into bed and then by the time I'm ready to go to sleep, I need to go again! I think it's because I always drink a lot of water in the evenings!

Beaut 45 mins is quite a way so they will probably put a lot of pressure on you but at the end of the day it's your decision.

BeautifulLiar · 22/12/2015 14:08

Me - yeh it's far isn't it?! Ironically we live round the corner from a hospital but it closes at 8 and doesn't deal with childbirth...

I'm planning on using the distance to my advantage though and saying unless they plan to induce me there's no point going in for a hospital birth as I probably wouldn't make it in time.

BeautifulLiar · 22/12/2015 14:11

Gem - sorry about your mum. I know it's not the same but my mum is an evil woman and I would never go to her for advice/support/help. I'm surrounded by people who rely on their mum whereas I rely on myself and sometimes DH. It's shit, but it makes you strong :) honestly do not worry about hurting the baby!

The asda delivery lady hasn't seen me since summer and when she got to the door the other night she said "Oh wow! Have you had the baby??" She couldn't tell I was still pregnant!! Obviously there's something there but I guess she just assumed that was post-birth bump. It was so strange!

QforCucumber · 22/12/2015 15:14

gem another sorry to hear about your mum, I've never really had a relationship with mine so can't imagine how difficult it must be for you to not have her around.

beautiful I'm with you, have to rely on yourself and friends rather than mother but i prefer it this way, she isn't much of a reliable person anyway - but that's a thread in itself.
I hope you do manage to get the birth you want, for me a home birth just wouldn't feel comfortable - don't know why I just don't think I'd feel quite 'right' but if that's what you want you need to make sure they know it!

me gem another one who hasn't really increased the number of times I need to go, but definitely don't feel 'finished' when I do, bloody babies and their playing with bladders!

Feel like I've been pregnant forever now, found out at 4 weeks so pretty much all summer and Xmas and birthdays have been pregnant, haven't been ill at all really so know I shouldn't complain but wow can 9 months feel like a long time!

scaredmum2be · 22/12/2015 15:20

Beautiful - I hope you get the birth you want. 45 minutes is a long way and they will prob push for you hospital birth but you sound strong enough to stick up for what you want. :)

I am weeing loads. I average 3-6 times in the night. It's driving me crazy. And when walking I feel an intense pressure to go but sometimes can't.
Slept better last night and used some of the suggestions on here. How did everyone sleep last night?

Majorly upset today. Fed up of being pregnant and I'm only 27+2 :(. Back hurts when walking, up to the toilet all the time, can't sit down without my feet tingling which means I can't even relax. Had a walk around town today and home now and sitting down is torture. I count down every hour and then panic when bed times come because I know the horrible leg sensation is going to get ten times worse. Fed up. Sorry for the whinge everyone.

gemsparkle84 · 22/12/2015 15:39

Hi everyone Smile

The wee thing- it's not necessarily going more often that is doing my head in, it's the pathetic trickle!!! So annoying!!

Sorry to the ladies who have a poor relationship with their Mum. In a strange way you've made me feel really lucky that I had such a wonderful woman in my life for as long as I did.

scaredmumtobe when I spoke to my midwife about restless legs she said that normally they never recommended extra salt in the diet but restless legs can sometimes be attributed to a lack of salt and sometimes a little bit extra can help... Maybe ask your midwife/ GP if they have heard this. I'm not advising you to start putting lashings of salt on all of your meals but maybe ask a professional about it. Do you think your restless legs are linked to your anxiety? I don't know if you've ever filled in one of the mental health forms but one of the questions is "how often have you been unable to sit still". Try having a relaxing bath before bed, this works great for me and it's lovely for you if you're struggling with walking etc. I'm glad you slept well last night.

BeautifulLiar you sound like such a strong lady! Making all of these decisions you are so brave! Fingers crossed they will respect your wishes and assist in making those a reality for you when it comes to giving birth rather than wasting energy ordering you to do this or that.

Maybebabybe don't be worried you're not wearing more often you're certainly not missing out! There is plenty of time for baby to start squashing your bladder! Even if it doesn't I'm sure you've had lots of symptoms other ladies don't get, I think everyone is different!

Chat later ladies. I'm almost halfway through another 13 hour shift (I'm certainly doing more sitting down that I used to)! Just had my lunch freshly made cod fish finger sandwich yum yum! We own a restaurant so even though being around the food/ smells was hellish in the first trimester... I'm certainly making the most of it now!!!! Xxx Wink xx

scaredmum2be · 22/12/2015 15:46

Thanks gem..

I honestly think it is related to my anxiety as I don't suffer when sitting down on trains/buses/work/others houses. Just in my flat/bed. And also I can keep them still which I think if I had true RLS I would have to 100 per cent move them all the time. Also when typing a long post etc the feeling can die down. I have read that tingling feet can be an anxiety symptom also.I must admit my diet is probably not the best right now and I probably do consume too much salt. Midwife app on the 24th of this month. 28 week one.
I don't speak to my mum anymore. She told my nan and dad she was not intesreted in me or the baby and she is not approcable and just horrible.
Still vomited this morning as well. Your lunch sounds lovely though. I had mcdonalds lol

MrsBenWyatt · 22/12/2015 20:36

Sorry to hear about your mum, Gem.

All sorted for Christmas here. I have persuaded DH to let Marks and Spencers cater this year, so I am collecting the food tomorrow! Everything is being bought in and we are hunkering down with the DS and DD, staying in PJs and playing with the new toys! 29 weeks today and already shattered.

Me624 · 22/12/2015 21:33

MrsBen that sounds like a fab Christmas! Dh is going to do most of the cooking for us but I'm in charge of the veggie dish (my DF and I are both veggie). We have cheated slightly by buying fancy pre-made gravy from waitrose (neither of us have ever been very good at making it), dh's mum is making the stuffing for us (even though they are not coming! We are seeing them Boxing Day instead), and my DM is bringing puddings. So it won't be too much hard work.

Has anyone else got linea nigra yet? Mine is just beginning to appear at 29+4! I thought it wouldn't be until much later.

gemsparkle84 · 22/12/2015 21:44

mrsben that sounds amazing!!!!!

me624 I've had a really dark line for weeks now, I'm 29weeks plus 6. It's crooked though! Ha ha.

gemsparkle84 · 22/12/2015 21:48

BTW has anyone had any problems with their whooping cough jab? I had mine last Wednesday, all fine and then this morning and all day I can barely lift my arm, it's extremely painful in the muscle and surrounding area where it went in. I don't know if it's just a coincidence and I've slept on it funny or what!

MyNameIsSuz · 22/12/2015 21:52

Those Christmases sound lovely. I haven't really got my area in gear this year - normally I love it! Have just spent the evening wrapping and I'm nowhere near done - have done all the Santa bits, but that's pretty much it, and now my back and knees are killing me!

I'm panicking somewhat as dn has come down with chicken pox and we saw them last week, so ds could be incubating it. If he gets the pox at Christmas we won't be able to go down to my mum's for boxing day, she'll understand but will be gutted. We also have plans with friends tomorrow which I'm wondering if we should cancel. One friend has a newborn and another is due next week with her second, I can't risk giving their kids the virus if he is incubating it can I? They can be contagious for up to 3 weeks before they get any spots. Any thoughts welcome!!

MyNameIsSuz · 22/12/2015 21:53

Mine was really painful too Gem, apparently that's fairly normal for that jab, it's the tetanus I think. Hope your arm feels better soon!

Me624 · 22/12/2015 22:01

gem I had it yesterday and my arm is really sore today - the nurse did warn me it would be.

scaredmum2be · 22/12/2015 22:08

I've cancelled Christmas this year. Me and oh was meant to be going to his mums house but I'm just not up to it so we have told them we want a quite Xmas to our selves but we are not celebrating as I'm just to unwell to bother. I couldn't bare the thought of being at his mums house seeing everyone all happy and having to put on a front. Not buying any Xmas food or anything, feel guilty though and told oh he should go to his mums and celebrate but he said his not leaving me. Struggling this evening- panicking big time, whole body feels tense, legs feel weird, can't relax at all. Life doesn't feel like it's going to get any better. I feel like this is me from now on.

Suz- hopefully your son is well and isn't incubating it especially at this time of year. I have my fingers crossed for you. Sorry to hear about your pain. Hope your feeling ok :)

I don't have the line yet but am only 27 weeks in.

Oh the whooping cough vaccine I had forgotten about that one. Just googled and it says it can cause pain and swelling. Sounds like a fun one that. Hope it gets better soon x

BeautifulLiar · 22/12/2015 22:33

MrsBen - that's pretty much what we do every year! I'm an antisocial bastard anyway and wouldn't want to go anywhere on Christmas day!

I still remember how sore my arm was after the whooping cough jab over 3 years ago! Keep forgetting to book this one in. Also have the linea nigra line here... it crept up without me noticing!

My friend came round today and made me laugh. She's a vet so obviously animal expert but SO clueless with human pregnancy stuff. I said about my boobs being bigger and she was shocked that bigger boobs are one of the first signs of pregnancy, rather than the last like in cows! Mad woman.

Sooo annoyed as I have a scan tomorrow but no one has told me what time!! I've phoned the hospital and clinic several times and was promised a call back but got nothing. I seriously hope it's not first thing tomorrow morning...

IndomitabIe · 22/12/2015 23:49

I was looking for mine just this morning, me! I expected it much earlier, but there's been no sign. But there's just a hint of it now, top as well as bottom! (26+6)

gem mine's totally wonky too! (Well, it's got a good curve in the top half, I can't really see underneath right now!)

Suz why couldn't you see your mum with a poxy child? (Assuming DC is happy enough with it). Has she never had it? If DN's only just come down with it, chances are you'll be fine for a fortnight. You can't hide away on the off-chance your child is incubating it. It's far more likely that the newborn still has residual immunity from its mother's antibodies anyway.

Scared, sorry to hear you're still suffering. But do you think going out might help take your mind off things? Though of course you must do whatever makes you most comfortable.

Beaut your friend sounds hilarious! How frustrating of the hospital. Hope you get some sense tomorrow.

I've just had what I think was a head poking up to the right of my belly button. Feeling around it, it felt about 8cm in diameter, and hard. It's gone again now. Bizarre.

I've just changed Doctor's (our old surgery is closing after Xmas, as you do) so need to see about booking WC. Sounds like it'll be a 'fun' one.

ffauxlivia · 23/12/2015 00:45

scared/Ginger I've been meaning to suggest this for a while - you say that when you are busy doing something your anxiety/restless legs seems to go away. I thought of two things which have helped me with stress, especially if you have lots of free time right now:

  1. Adult colouring-in books. Seriously I love them - you can get from Waterstones or WH Smith etc if you are out shopping: www.amazon.co.uk/Enchanted-Forest-Inky-Quest-Colouring/dp/1780674872/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1450831008&sr=1-1 Buy some nice coloured pencils to go with it and you will be surprised at how therapeutic it is - you don't have to be creative at all as it doesn't matter what the final result looks like, it's just about the doing!
  1. Jigsaw puzzles! I know it sounds naff and I always thought it was a grandma or little kid thing, but a few years ago we bought some really difficult ones, put them out on the kitchen table and spent an hour or two a day on them, they were addictive! They really make you focus and concentrate and forget about anything else!

I think anything where you use your hands is a great distraction and really focuses your attention

good luck tomorrow beaut - hope you get a decent scan time and good news!

maybebabybee · 23/12/2015 05:37

I agree with faux on both those things ginger/scared. Puzzles and colouring are really good for distraction and anxiety. They also help with insomnia!

Baby bee is jumping about like a lunatic this morning, after a quiet day yesterday!

No linea nigra here yet at 29 weeks.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 23/12/2015 06:29

My linea niegra is just beginning to show in the last week or so - am now 29+1.

I keep forgetting to book my WC jab but I remember with DD my arm hurting for days afterwards.

Finished work yesterday for Xmas... Or so I thought, but still have a lot of left over bits to do so think I'll be working during DDs nap time today [sigh]

scared sorry to hear things haven't improved. I also second colouring/puzzles or other things to keep your mind occupied.

suz I think even if he's incubating it he's not actually infectious is he? I think they're only infectious a couple days before rash appears. Obvs you won't know when that will be but if its early in the potential 'incubation period' its probably unlikely. Tbh if it was me I'd text your friends and ask them what they thought, with caveat that you won't be offended if they tell you to stay away!

MyNameIsSuz · 23/12/2015 07:03

Thanks indomitable and marmite, I might brave it. He seems so well today! I think we'll have to stay away from my mum's if he does come down with it, it's not my mum but my stepdad, he's still recovering from cancer treatment and a bit more vulnerable than most to this kind of thing. Also, we went there last year and I was ill, and dh would never willingly do that again!

Beautiful, that's ridiculous about your scan! My hospital is 45 mins away too, so if it was any time before about 10 it would be really hard to get to without a lot of forward planning and a very early start. Good luck with it!

I never had the linea negra last time so I'm not really expecting to get it this time, I think I'll be quite surprised if I do! No sign so far at 28+5.

BeautifulLiar · 23/12/2015 07:48

Hopefully it'll be fine, Suz. I had no idea DD2 was incubating chickenpox back in October! Would be good to get it out of the way before baby though.

Really want to go back to sleep while DH is with the kids (back from night shift) but I need to be ringing the hospital from 8 to find out when my appointment is. I'll have to get ready asap in case it's first thing but knowing my luck it'll be 4pm or something! I was all hyped up to see the consultant as well and now I'm just panicking slightly that I'm going to miss the appointment altogether...

BeautifulLiar · 23/12/2015 07:49

Also has anyone seen Rosie? Don't think she's been on here for a while (not that I'm one to talk!).

Rosie if you're reading I want to know when you're ordering the Cosatto! :)

IndomitabIe · 23/12/2015 08:03

Great idea ffaux, I bought myself a beauty of a colouring book ages ago, this last week I've been all over it. It's bliss!

Good luck today Beaut
