Thanks everybody Flowers

maybe that does sound like sciatica however sciatica is just symptom of something else, which is probably pelvic girdle pain or some kind of back issue. I know a bit about this.... I have coccydenia so know about a few back/ pelvic issues. I went to a physiotherapist appointment last week, you will probably get referred to something similar, it was a class basically briefly discussing symptoms then going through some exercises, sleeping positions and other tips to help with daily activities. If I'm honest it was a bit of a waste of time but it's good to get into the system in case you need help further along or it gets worse.

Indomitable I can't believe you felt a little foot that is unbelievable!!! WOW!!

MyNameIsSuz sorry but I did have a little giggle about the ball getting bounced into the Christmas tree Wink I've been using mine on and off for a couple of weeks. They're just nice to sit on I think!

Have a good day everyone xx Smile

Me624 · 21/12/2015 09:40

My baby is still all over the place. At my last midwife appointment she said he was head down but that it would probably still change. Some days all the kicks are up by my belly button and above, other days they're right down in my pelvis. Sometimes I think I can actually feel him turning - I can see it sort of ripple across my whole bump!

gem Flowers to you missing your mum. I'm very grateful for mine at the moment (despite all her advice being wildly out of date - she was so shocked that you're supposed to keep the baby in your room for 6 months!)

Hope those suffering with pain manage to get some help. I'm fine so far but definitely starting to feel more uncomfortable and my bump is really beginning to get in the way!

MyNameIsSuz · 21/12/2015 09:44

I've had very clear movements on the outside for a few weeks now, but I'm hopeless at telling what is what! I'm very impressed when people can tell what's a hand and what's a foot. I think this one is still moving around a lot as I'm getting punts all over, and weird big pushes in the exact same part of my stomach as with ds - with him I assumed he was pushing his little bum out, this one I asked the midwife at my 28 week appointment and she thought head. She said not to worry yet as they're still quite mobile, and they normally look for it at your 34 week appointment then monitor you if needed.

Trinpy · 21/12/2015 10:25

Morning everyone.

I'm currently sat in my gp's waiting room for my gtt. I had my first appointment late so I may keel over from hunger before I get through the 2 hours Confused.

I'm usually crap at figuring out which parts of the baby are which but I can recognise baby's feet tickling me up on my right side because ds used to do the same. I keep feeling something small and hard just under my belly button - no idea what that is. I'm impressed with anyone who can figure it out!

TheMshipIsBack · 21/12/2015 10:28

Re: positioning, have also read that at 34w, if they are head down, they're likely to stay that way, but if breech or transverse, there's still a strong chance of turning.

vroc81 · 21/12/2015 11:19

Morning all!! Hope you all had a good weekend! Just trying to catch up with everyone..

Missi lovely pics of Zach, glad he is continuing to make good progress!

Trinpy hope you haven't passed out from starvation yet!

gem sorry about your mum, for all my mums irritating ways its good to have her to sound off to.

To those of you feeling feet etc - wow! I can feel her kicking or elbowing (presumably the softer of the impacts) but wouldn't be able to feel a foot!! I think she has shifted round as kicks have gone from down into me and feeling them in my sides to up nearer my ribs and out the sides, the ones coming up also feel more muffled but presume that's because I have a high anterior placenta...

Went up to London on Saturday and was feeling very uncomfortable walking by the end of it - felt a bit pathetic when I met some friends that I was starting to shuffle until I looked at my phone on the train on the way home and realised I had clocked up 13km that day.. My left hip and inside thigh were very uncomfortable yesterday as well but it seems to be easing now so will just have to take it a bit steadier next time..

marmiteandcheeseplease · 21/12/2015 14:35

I am definitely getting visible movement from the outside, this baby is a complete wriggler. DP finds it really freaky - I was showing him the baby moving when in bed last night and he said 'it looks like alien' and looked a bit freaked out Grin. She's definitely still mostly breech as I feel a lot of tickly movement/kicks down below but do occasionally feel the odd side kick and my whole belly does shift when she is moving position, so think she is having a whale of a time in there spinning around.

DD slept through again but I woke up before 5am Sad I was tossing and turning for ages then thought I'd check my phone to see what the time was in case there was no point in trying to go back to sleep and was shocked that it was only 5am so god knows what time I woke up. Didn't manage to get back to sleep either so am knackered. Tomorrow is my last day of work before xmas, yay, but I have loads to do, really shouldn't be on mumsnet haha.

Managed to get my parcels - the students had gone home for xmas but had left the packages at the house next door, which was nice. Unfortunately, DPs christmas present package from Amazon wasn't there, and when I tried to track it online, discovered that there was no tracking! Rang Amazon today and spoke to a completely useless woman who sent out a replacement package - she told me it would arrive before xmas so I assumed it was prime delivery but apparently it is only guaranteed to arrive by xmas eve, and we are going to DPs parents on xmas eve so it may not arrive on time! I am also working from home today and have been waiting in all day for a package (a xmas present for family member) from Royal Mail which I missed last week and requested redelivery today, but it hasn't shown up yet! Bloody xmas post! That will teach me for doing all my xmas shopping online, leaving it till two weeks before xmas and assuming it would be ok. just couldn't face shopping in town though.... so the present/package saga continues!

Me624 · 21/12/2015 17:37

Glad the students weren't completely thoughtless marmite! I've done a lot of internet shopping this year too, but it is annoying when it goes wrong.

Just had my whooping cough jab, hopefully I don't get too sore an arm now. Had my 28 week bloods done this morning as well so I am well and truly done with needles now!

Did your GTT go ok Trinpy?

Trinpy · 21/12/2015 18:57

vroc its so easy to overdo it isn't it? Stupid pregnancy hormones making everything hurt.Sounds like you've recovered quickly at least.
Yay glad you got (some) of your presents in the end marmite. I thought I was so organised this year and only had my dad's present to get. I went into town this afternoon to get it and they have sold out! So I'm having a little panic but hoping to.get some nice pate/cheese from waitrose for him.
GTT went fine thanks me. I find out the results in 2 days but I'm fairly confident its all going to be ok (especially since I wolfed down 4 danish pastries on the way home Xmas Blush).

ffauxlivia · 21/12/2015 19:11

wow lots of catching up to do - even the busy Christmas period doesn't stop you lot chatting!

I just passed my GTT by some margin so relieved about that.

Impressed you guys know what's what with kicks etc. Can you tell when baby has hiccups? I read that hiccups doesn't count as a movement when you count the kicks, but not sure if I've felt them or not. I know they are supposed to be rhythmic but my own hiccups aren't necessarily that rhythmic?!

To someone who asked about the Close Caboo - was that crispy? My friend used one for both her newborns and loved it, and is sending it to me so it's still going strong. At 6 months she's moving onto something more structured, but she does have huge babies (99th centile!)

beautiful so sorry about your placenta scares and hospital fears, not to mention the less than helpful husband! Hope now you've had a few days to process it you're feeling better about it. Knowing there's a chance I might have to have a c-section has freaked me out a lot, but I've done lots of research and at least a planned one doesn't seem so bad. I fear being out of control so at least knowing what's going to happen will help me prepare for the more difficult aspects

Missi as ever wonderful to hear how Zach is doing, so sorry about the traumatic birth though, it must have been terrifying. Love that photo of him with his little hand - looks like he's waving at you :)

gem Flowers I'm so sorry about your mum. I can't imagine how hard it is at this time of year, especially being pregnant. She'll be so proud of how well you are doing

marmite yay and grrr for present woes!! Hope it works out

We've had two offers for Christmas dinner on Xmas Eve and Xmas day, so these 2(.5) Brits won't be lonely over here :) Will definitely be missing family and friends Wine

scaredmum2be · 21/12/2015 20:00

This thread moves so quickly it is hard to catch up. We seem to be a real chatty bunch here. For anyone that does not know my old username was Ginger but I had forgotten my password and e-mail so had to make a new account.
I went to hospital Friday night for reduced movements. As I was only 26+6 all they did was use the doppler. They said 28 weeks is when they would do monitoring. We heard the heartbeat and even heard her kick the doppler but I couldn't feel it which felt odd to me. I seemed to of had a real active week and a bit up to then and now she has gone a lot more quiet. Hoping she has just moved as midwife at hospital said if they have all their limbs facing inwards even at this gestation that you may not feel movement as much and the fact that I have a high anterior placenta probably does not help. She felt my belly and said baby was head down at the moment. She also measured my fundal height which measured 25cm so I have had no growth in two weeks but I know this can be inaccurate and am going to see what midwife says on the 24th at my 28 week app.
I still have no idea what I am feeling when baby moves or hiccups. Clueless first time mum haha. I wouldn't know the difference between a kick/hiccup/foot/elbow etc. Some movements are still so faint but I can see them through my clothes now if just wearing a t-shirt. Feeling feet etc sounds amazing!

Thursday night we had a bit of a scare in the flat. At about 7pm I started to hear a crackling sound from one of the plug sockets in the lounge. We phoned the estate agents emergency line who said they would send an electrician out in the morning. At 11pm we heard a loud bang and smoke started to come out the socket so we rang 999. they turned our electric off and I had a rubbish nights sleep about four hours sleep. electrician came out next am and resolved the issue. they also checked the trip switch we wasnt working. it should of gone off with any issues with the electrics and it didn't. But all is well now. We where looking to move anyway as we live in a basement flat which suffers from damp and has wooden flooring in the lounge so not the best for baby. But we have now handed in our notice and looking to move in feb so booking loads of viewings for properties.

Had a rather bads night sleep last night. I was very anxious. I slept from 9-10:15 then from 11:15-1:30 then from 2:15-3:00 and 4:00 to 6:20. Feeling shattered today and very anxious that I won't sleep tonight. My anxiety at the moment is all revolved around my fear that I won't sleep and that I have restless legs. Even though I can keep my legs still I feel like I should move them. As soon as I get into bed I start to focus on how my legs feel and that in turns leads to extreme anxiety and I just fail to relax. Feeling depressed and sad over it at the moment. I fear coming home and sitting on the sofa incase it starts to happen. I hate it. I come home from work in tears and my legs feel so uncomfy all evening. Finished work today until the 4th Jan and I am dreading it. I am finding it hard to cope allready and only been home two hours :(. Back to doctors tomorrow or wednesday as tbh I am just not coping at all. I am also very scared on the affect all this major stress is having on my girl. I am convinced it will cause her problems and I feel so gulity. I honestly can not see how I can last another 13 weeks plus with this terrible stress and anxiety. Trouble is even when I fall asleep I don't sleep for long before I wake up then I panic about not falling alseep and the horrible leg sensation starts and its like going round in circles time afer time again.

Beatiful- sorry to hear about the hospital birth. Its no wonder your scared after last time. rest assured though that the chances of that happening again are next to nothing. Most women have very postive hospital births and you can get through this and you will have a lovely little girl to show for it. hope your ok and your husband has stepped up and is being supportive- we all need someone to rely on when having a tough time.

Missi- What lovely photos of Zach. You must be so proud. I am so glad to hear of his progress.

Gem- I am so sorry for your loss. I know how horrible anxiety is and I just want to send a hug and I hope you feel better soon. We can get through this. We are stronger than the anxiety :)

Marmite- sorry to hear about the lack of sleep. lack of sleep is the worst. hears hoping for betters nights for us both and anyone else not getting enough sleep.

And to all those having GTT I hope they all come back clear and good news on the ones that have

IndomitabIe · 21/12/2015 20:39

Busy Christmas period? I've got time on my hands! It's brilliant! I'm having a whale of a time casually mumsnetting when I should be cleaning or something.

Glad your GTT went well, Ffaux. Hiccups is a gentle, rhythmic almost clicking. A lot more gentle than kicks, much more regular, and repeated longer than the 2 or 3 kick pattern you get (you know; 'is that a kick!', 'yep, definitely a kick - HEY DH come and feel this kicking'.... 'oh it's not doing it now'). Definite benefit of having had experience, I think.

Ginge/Scared, wow the electrical thing sounds scary. Glad it's all been checked out. Sorry to hear you're still suffering. Please do try not to look at the time when you wake, it's only encouraging you to fixate on not sleeping at night, and then how tired you are during the day. Try one night tonight of not looking at the clock. From now! Go to bed when you're tired, read a book if you find yourself awake, see how you feel in the morning. If you're off work, it doesn't matter that you're tired tomorrow. Hopefully this notion alone will take the pressure off. Good luck!

neh205 · 22/12/2015 00:12

Welcome water we're a friendly bunch here.

marmite glad you got your post

gem so sorry to hear about your mum. Thoughts are with you. I'm sure your mim is with you in spirit too, just think how delighted she'd be with the baby news. It's amazing how much advice you remember from those who have passed too. Big hugs!

tappitytaptap · 22/12/2015 07:30

Most of my kicks are really low, like in my cervix. I get the odd one higher uo by my belly button or at the sides. At our 24 week scan the sonographer said he was head down, I am wondering now at 26+4 if he has moved and that is why my kicks are all low?

tappitytaptap · 22/12/2015 07:31

Ps Missi, so pleased to read Zach is doing so well, he looks gorgeous.
Hope everyone gets a bit of time off to relax over Christmas. Last day at work today, yay!

BeautifulLiar · 22/12/2015 08:01

Welcome newbies!

Ginger bless you. I have stopped looking at the clock when I wake up in the night - and honestly, it's helped. The electrics thing sounds scary! I think that's when DH would have stepped up, that boy loves his job. Glad you're moving though!

Good luck everyone with the GTT results :)

Marmite Christmas deliveries are so stressful! Hope your DH's pressie arrives in time.

So so hard to catch up on my phone cos I can't really see posts :(

I had another scan yesterday and the Doppler results seemed a bit better, but the consultant wasn't there and I saw another different midwife, who came out with more conflicting info.

I have another scan tomorrow and should be seeing the consultant but I've made the decision to have a home birth. I will probably review that decision if things look drastically wrong with the baby but as it stands, with things ticking along and no one giving me a definite decision on induction, I'm having her at home. The consultant is going to be pretty cross with me! Oh well.

BeautifulLiar · 22/12/2015 08:02

Tappity baby probably has moved - they flip around so much!

BeautifulLiar · 22/12/2015 08:04

Ha "Marmite Christmas deliveries"! Just imagining lorry loads of marmite now! Ahem. As you were...

marmiteandcheeseplease · 22/12/2015 09:37

morning all, had much better nights sleep yay, no waking up early for me and I managed to get to bed/sleep before 11 so when DD woke at 6 I had had 8 hours sleep which is the most I've had in about a month!

haha "marmite deliveries" mm yes please, think everyone in my house would love a lorry load of marmite haha (we're big marmite eaters in this house, DD is obsessed). Rang Royal Mail this morning and apparently despite getting an email confirmation that my package was going to be redelivered yesterday, the sorting office didn't put it out for redelivery and it's still sat in the sorting office now! guy on the phone told me he could get it redelivered for Thursday (Xmas eve!) and I told him no chance as it's a xmas present and I won't be in on Xmas eve to receive it. so now have to go to the sorting office this morning Sad. also waiting for a package from Amazon today which is out for delivery and DHL have helpfully said that it will arrive 'by the end of today' - thanks DHL! so DP has to come home from work to be in whilst I go and pick up the other package. bloody nightmare Angry anyway will stop ranting about my boring mail issues!!

sorry to hear you are still feeling very anxious scared, and that sleep is lacking on your end too. I'm sure I've asked this before so sorry if repetitive but have you tried cutting out/cutting down caffeine? I find caffeine really makes me anxious (especially at night) and interferes with my sleep.

beaut I have no doubt they will complain at you for wanting a home birth and try to pressure you, but (as I'm sure you know) they can't force you to birth in the hospital. They would be better off putting a contingency plan in place so that if something did go wrong you can get to the hospital quick. Anyway hope the consultant meeting goes well.

RhubarbAndMustard · 22/12/2015 10:27

Beautiful I really hope you get the home birth you are after. Its added stress you don't need right now but ultimately it should be your choice.

Marmite your delivery issues sound like a right PITA! Hope you get all your parcels today.

Welcome to all the newbies!

Thank you for all your hypnobirthing advice. I decided to download a few apps to see if they were any good and found one I really like. Its called 'Calm Childbirth' by Aluna Moon and was the only English one I could find. Its free, but I paid a few pounds for some of the sessions. I was a bit of a sceptic, but I listened to the 40 minute programme and completely zoned out. I didn't even realise it had finished and I felt so calm afterwards. I'm a definite convert! Ginger/Scared you might find it helps with your anxiety?

That being said, I have an appointment on the 6th Jan with a consultant as there is a chance I'll need to go down the ELCS route for medical reasons. I actually feel like this might be the best route for me anyway and have done lots of research about the pros / cons. I had a vaginal birth with DS which to me was quite traumatic, although I'm the first to admit my pain threshold is very low (29 hours / back to back / forceps). Has anyone had a ELCS previously and did you have any complications?

Me624 · 22/12/2015 12:37

Just picked up our turkey and done our big food shop for Christmas, the supermarket was manic. Glad it's out the way though! Chose all my veg carefully so it should last fine until Friday! We're hosting my parents this year for the first time and I'm feeling slightly nervous about it although DH will do most of the cooking! I think my mum is so happy to have someone else cooking though that she won't much mind if it isn't very nice!

Beautiful as others have said they can't force you to give birth in hospital. How far away are you if something does go wrong and they need to take you in?

BeautifulLiar · 22/12/2015 12:51

Thanks marmite :)

Rhubarb - sorry no experience of ELCS but your first birth does sound pretty scary so I don't blame you for wanting to go down that route.

Me - bet its a weight off your shoulders now you've been shopping! My shop is being delivered now! Oh and we're 45 minutes away from the hospital :(

gemsparkle84 · 22/12/2015 13:33

Question: has anyone ever had a more unsatisfying experience than having a wee in the third trimester??? Seriously!!!

IndomitabIe · 22/12/2015 13:34

Lol! Sorry gem!

maybebabybee · 22/12/2015 13:35

gem I haven't really noticed increased urination to be honest, I feel like it's an issue as I should be going to the loo every five minutes and I'm not!!! I didn't have it in the first trimester either which also worried me.

I guess I am probably weeing a bit more but it's certainly not every half hour or whatever...
