Sorry to hear that who knew - I hope and pray your Dad hangs in there and gets to meet your little one.

I've just lost a lump of mucus plug streaked with blood. I know it can mean nothing but I rang the hospital and they said to come in and they'd check me out since baby is breech. I have visitors coming at 2pm I'm not sure whether to cancel them and go in or wait til afterwards.

haquoi123 · 01/01/2016 11:30

Oh whoknew, so sorry to hear that! How is your dad doing now? Flowers

mawsy I'd go in now. Your visitors will understand

Happy New Year!

mawsy def go in to get checked - visitors will understand x

Mawsymoo · 01/01/2016 12:05

Yeah just waiting for my folks to arrive to mind DS and then we're heading in. Nothing else since - not even having Braxton Hicks this morning! Hopefully I'm not waiting around too long to be checked. My mam is in an awful panic!

Mawsymoo · 01/01/2016 12:06

Actually I hope they give me a bed to lie on and I can have a nap! Some chance - it'll be a hard plastic chair!

IslaMann · 01/01/2016 12:07

whoknew I'm so sorry.
mawsy hope all is well

Happy New Year to everyone. What a lot we have to look forward to!

NorthernChinchilla · 01/01/2016 12:23

Happy 2016 fellow Febbers, and the January interlopers too Wink!!
My very first tip for the New Year is if you are expecting a baby, and especially of you're having a section, do NOT watch Mad Max Fury Road- it'll make you squeal more than haquoi's sister's cake!

NorthernChinchilla · 01/01/2016 12:29

And keep us posted mawsy, good luck.

Rufus200 · 01/01/2016 12:34

Happy New Year!

troika seeing my Dr on Tuesday who always scans me but won't make a decision. Growth scan with specialist on Wednesday.

mawsy I can't believe they keep you in that long after a section! I'm booked in for 2 nights, 3 if I'm really not coping, but I have to pay extra then as only 2 nights are in my package. Let us know how you are, hope you are ok.

whoknew hope your dad gets to meet your baby

haquoi that was some cake!!!

Georgeofthejungle · 01/01/2016 12:46

Hello ladies! I am 32+3 - due Feb 24th with DC1. So excited now!

Hope everything is ok Mawsey. Hopefully you will get a bed and get you hooked up to a baby heart rate monitor pretty quickly to put your mind at rest.

Mawsymoo · 01/01/2016 13:06

I'm on a plastic chair waiting behind a good few people. I'm not really worried about baby as he is kicking away, I suppose they just want to check if Labour is imminent.

Rufus the "standard" stay after a natural delivery here is 3 nights, 5 after a section. There are some schemes where you can get an early release after a natural delivery and the midwives will visit you at home for 5 days - otherwise if you want to get out early you need to discharge yourself.

Georgeofthejungle · 01/01/2016 13:28

3 nights after a natural birth?! Our hospital is 6 hours! No joke. 3 days for Caesarian.

Glad baby is kicking away. Good luck!

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 01/01/2016 15:30

Bloody hell I agree re. natural birth. We were chucked out of West Suffolk hospital three years ago about 2 hours after giving birth. I was staggering and holding the walls, they just opened the doors and said bye bye!!

Thanks for the well wishes re. my Dad. Just waiting for an update really but my worry is how my Mum is going to cope in a tiny house if he gets discharged in a wheelchair. It's an impossible situation as he is getting weaker and weaker and having more and more falls.

Mawsymoo · 01/01/2016 16:00

I'm still in the bloody hospital waiting. It's so busy today! I've had a trace which was fine and I'm waiting to see a doctor now to have a scan to measure liquor volume etc. Back tomorrow for anti-d. My head is pounding from my sinuses and I'm hungry.

Mawsymoo · 01/01/2016 18:46

Home at last and all is looking fine - they don't think baby is in a hurry to arrive just yet anyway. I'll go back in tomorrow for anti-d since there was that little bit of blood - it's precautionary really. The doctor was more concerned about my cough and sinusitis than anything else so I've got some good strong antibiotics now and hopefully I'll start feeling better soon!

jellypi3 · 01/01/2016 18:59

glad all is ok mawsy!! must have been a bit scary! It feels weird being on pants watch after so long, i totally forgot i used to do that all the time when TTC and in the first few weeks lol!

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 01/01/2016 20:03

Mawsy excellent news 😋

I've packed my hospital bags and most of the baby stuff is now sorted 😱

RattyCatty · 01/01/2016 21:51

mawsy that's good news!

Stepawayfromthezebras · 02/01/2016 06:02

Good news mawsy

I can't sleep Angry and does anyone else find little one's hiccups really irritating?! At first I thought they were cute but right now really not

Rufus200 · 02/01/2016 11:43

mawsy hope the antibiotics start working soon.

stepaway I have runs of nights with no sleep and then will get 1 night where I sleep properly. I'm already exhausted and very grumpy because of it. Just normal house work is killing me. There are still a million chores to finish the house and get nursery sorted on top of just looking after myself and DH.

I got some great maternity/nursing bras in the sale, realised as I was trying them on just how badly fitting my current bra had become so bought 1 that fitted me now and 2 in bigger cup sizes for later. It is heavenly wearing a bra that actually fits.
Been really disappointed with the baby sales, thought I would find good stuff like last year. Kicking myself for not buying more last Jan when I found the most awesome stuff but I hadn't even started my fertility treatment at that point and didn't know if I would ever get pregnant.

I'm very lacking in socks, do I need to buy some? Do little babies really wear them? I haven't bought baby grows with feet as both my mum and MIL had to cut the feet off mine and DH's baby grows to fit us in them.

Having lunch with the NCT ladies today, before everyone starts popping out babies. My class had a very widespread of due dates, so there are 2 this week, I'm one of the last. We never really got much of a chance to chat during classes, so hoping that this will allow proper friendships to grow now.

Mawsymoo · 02/01/2016 11:55

Rufus if your babygros don't have feet then you will need socks - it's a bit of a faff though trying to keep them on. DS was very long and I just sized up on babygros as he needed the length in the body too (same problem with vests). I gave up on them around 7 months and moved him into separate pjs but babygros are so comfy and cute in comparison.

Rufus200 · 02/01/2016 12:05

Any recommendations for socks that aren't a faff to get on and stay on?

Stepawayfromthezebras · 02/01/2016 13:26

Oh rufus that sounds grim, I've been lucky that I've only had a couple of sleeplessnighrs - about one or two a week recently but even that's knackering.

And I hear you on the so much to do thing. After my bleeds I was told to take it easy, no heavy lifting or bending and only light housework. My boyfriend's looking after me and not letting me do any housework but his work's been really busy recently, we're trying to get the nursery done, his back's been knackered since September and he doesn't see things that need doing in the same way that I do. So the house is a tip and I'm hoping we don't get any visitors after little one arrives! At least not till I've recovered from my -section...

MaisieDotes · 02/01/2016 13:39

mawsy glad all is well, bummer to have to spend NY day in there though.

rufus I have only had summer babies so far but even still I would put socks on under the babygro in the early days. I find that the little fold-over socks (which seem to be everywhere) are the worst for falling off. The best are socks that will pull up to the baby's knee. Then they tend to stay on.

Mawsymoo · 02/01/2016 13:46

I don't know - the ones with elasticated ankles stay on better than the tube ones that fold over but in my experience they all slip off. All last winter (DS around 4 - 11 months) I had him in tights under his trousers as he was spending most of his time on the ground so they kept the socks on.
