Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LunarSea · 05/01/2007 12:12

Amie - you'll probably still look slim and trim compared to me!!

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 12:29

Amie / Lunar hope you enjoy yourselves in the baths!

Eids I thought 27 weeks was 3rd Trimester. I changed my "name" at 27 weeks! Still I am 28 weeks now so official!

Kiwibella love your photos! A baby shower sounds good - especially as you're not organising it!!

Leoladyofleisure · 05/01/2007 12:48

Moss, it sounds awful, I would never survive in a work environment like that! BUt glad that your boss is being reasonable at last.

Lunar, I had to take a GTT because I had sugar in my pee. I don't think they do it just because you have a big baby do they?

Kiwi, DS was at nursery yesterday and seemed to be fine, unfortunately he was sick in the night last night so was up for a while changing his bed, clothes, holding him over the sink to be sick again.... he and dh settled back to sleep fine, I lay awake for hours again!

Fox, that's really cute! We are going to get ds a doll that he can bath and change nappies etc, when the babies are born.

Jay, the leg cramps can be caused by lack of magnesium. I really recommend taking a supplement, here in Switzerland they give it to us almost as routine.

Hospital appointment yesterday went really well. The babies are still growing very well, each baby is still the average size of a single baby at this time in the pregnancy (one is about 1.6kg, the other 1.4kg, which means at 30 weeks I am now carrying a total of 3Kg of baby , for you old fashioned types that's about 6.6lb!). Feeling very proud of myself as I am actually doing pretty well apart from insomnia, tiredness and extremely painful hips when I am trying to sleep! Well, I am proud but DH is now worshiping me ! Babies are both head down but one is too high and not in a good position, if it doesn't move then the consultant won't let me have a vb. We talked a bit with her about my 'trauma' and she has suggested seeing a psychiatrist which i think I am going to do. Also doing a cs birth plan (as well as a normal birthplan) to discuss with her so that I can try to avoid the things that I am unhappy about from ds's birht and hope I can deal with it better if I do have to have a cs. Anyone got any suggestions of how a cs can be a more positive experience for me?

Sorry, long post....

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 13:42

Leo - the psychiatrist sounds like a good idea. Why don't you start a thread in Childbirth asking people for positive ideas?

Well, we've got a stupidly expensive buggy too (you know the brand), but Mum insisted. And it looks fantastic... (we went for yellow and black). Getting most other stuff in sales/freecycle/ebay/hand-me-downs though. In fact, DH's parents had kept his old cot, and had it stripped and waxed for us. Nice, eh? I'm not expecting all this generosity for number two...

Kiwi - lucky you getting a baby shower! No-one except our parents has asked what we want, so I don't know what not to buy, IYSWIM.

Sorry about the cramps Jay & Amie. I've had the odd twinge, but nothing too bad. I've carried on taking Pregnacare throughout the pregnancy, which might have helped. I'm sure it's as much down to luck as anything else, though.

Foxy: I get the hip-pain too. It was only at night for a long time, but it's started when I sit down then try and walk too quickly now. Yuck.

Those of you bothered about weight - I'm trying really hard not to mind. Got a Blooming Marvellous Maternity cossie in the sale, and am steeling myself to try an aqua-natal class. It's the new back-fat that really bothers me...

Enjoyed Celeb BB last night, and loved Green Wing. I was so disappointed with the way the 2nd series ended. It's all alright now...

BooBoo - they do look snazzy tho those buggies! the IL's bought ours so we tried our best not to take the mickey with the cost!

Lunar - DH just asked if he could come too! I explained I'm not sure its a "man thing" Bless him... heads up though, I won't make the 1st two thursdays in Feb.. how inconsiderate it clashes with our parent craft lessons!

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 14:04

Booboo, what brand? Have I missed something?

Leo lol at KGs vs pounds. Although I think of adult weight in terms of stone (and still get confused with pounds even then, who came up with the idea of dividing an amount into fourteenths??) I think of smaller weight in terms of kilos and get confused!

AmieR · 05/01/2007 14:05

whispers I think Boo has a Bugaboo

LunarSea · 05/01/2007 14:44

Amie - I'll not be able to do 18th Jan or 8th Feb either (DH away) - but if I leave it until after those it'll hardly be worth starting.

sexkittyinwaiting · 05/01/2007 14:56

Hello all,
Sorry to all those with hip pain. I find it gets worse if I do too much.
My xmas pressie of the whole body pillow is absolutely marvelous. It has really improved my sleep as it just supports my whole body iyswim.
Sorry got to go-kids........

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 15:07

A Bugaboo how swish! Get you! You'll be the talk of the park!

Kitty is that one of those pillows that's like a big letter 's'?

AmieR · 05/01/2007 15:20

Lunar - I know what you mean! but we've got a few weeks of making a splash...

Rosylily · 05/01/2007 16:13

Kiwi, I really enjoyed seeing your pictures, isn't your dd gorgeous. Am in total awe of how organised you are, its way beyond me!

My cat went missing for a few days once then reappeared when some workmen came back to work on a house a few doors down from me.

My sister lost her cat and gave up hope and months later saw a card in a local shop looking for a home for her cat. It had been in an accident, been treated and recovered and was finally happily reunited with my sis and family.

One of the cats we had as children just arrived from nowhere and adopted us. They really do have nine lives!

I have to sleep with a pillow supporting my bump to get comfortable, this morning as I woke up it gradually dawned on me that the pillow tucked under my bump wasn't a pillow...it was ds2!cosy as anything

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 16:39

lo at you mistaking your DS2 for a pillow, Rosy .

Amie was correct! I have a Bugaboo on it's way. Oh, the shame...

Actually, there are loads of them round here. Lots of DINKIES-turned-parents, who are soon to move to the burbs.

Like us, really .

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 16:39

I meant lol

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 16:44

Oh I didn't know all this about bugaboos, what is it that is embarrassing about them? Is it because of their price, will people think you're really posh?

Rosylily lol! Hey why not use ds2 as a template for a maternity pillow if he's so comfy? You could make a fortune!

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 16:47

Moss, I think they're generally seen as a bit yummy-mummy and 'ooh, aren't we priveleged'. I'm a bit sensitive to these things tbh, as DH and I do have a reasonable income, but I'm from a more working-class background.

OTOH, can't wait 'til it arrives!

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 16:55

Do people really make assumptions about you because of the buggy you have? I didn't know that! I might have thought there was a possibility of them thinking like that if you dressed baby in really expensive designerwear, but I hadn't thought that about the buggy!

Is it a Southern thing or is it everywhere? I had never heard of it before.

Jaysecond · 05/01/2007 16:58

YAY guess what just had a call from a neighbour saying had we lost our cat.....hes been hiding out at her house/garden for the past three days. She didnt think he was 'missing' at first as he looked well and wasnt in any distress, she thought he was just 'visiting' but then today she kinda thought hed been around too long, so undid his barrel ID and called us, she bought him round soon after!! Bless his cotton sox. Hes now seeking refuge under my bed wrapped round my squeezy pillow! This all happened aas i was getting DD ready to do a walk about door to door type investigation, armed with pictures and posters...!! Sooo pleased to have him back.

Kiwi your site is fab, and the bits i saw didnt contain any spelling or grammer mistakes!! you are the busy bee family arent you! I couldnt make out the dynamics of your LO's though, whos who and how old etc etc?

DH has been in DD current room, doing DIY jobs, all afternoon, we had an old knackered sink in there so thats had to come out, and the surrounding tiles, new skirt had to go up, blinds and curtains and lots of filling in of various holes - god sounds like her room was awful, it wasnt that bad honest! Anyway, its all about ready for him to lay a new carpet tomorrow. Then we can start on DD new bedroom and have enough time to get her used to it before the DS comes along.

I have still to get a double pushchair, DH likes the look of the mountain buggy, i think thats what its called, i like the out and about nipper, but i have to see them in the RL before i can make a decision. Boo your bugaboo sounds cool and looks great! i never envisaged me with a double trouble type buggy!

I am with Kitty on the pillow front, i dont have the full body one but i do have one that fits between my knees AND supports my bump, theres no way i could get off to sleep
without it!

kiwi a baby shower is great, i had one with DD and mostly ate cake, cake and more cake! Since sorting out clothes and other bits and bobs from DD i really dont need any of the essentials so unless anyone surprises me, with more cake, then i doubt i will have one!

ok, off to feed DD, catch ya laters x

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 17:00

I think these attitudes are more prevalent in big cities. I grew up in London, but went to Uni in Snowdonia, and was hugely impressed by the live-and-let-live attitude. People in London are judged by their incomes, and what they spend them on (witness the sneeriness about 'chavs' - hate that word).

I didn't realise that before I moved away, but it becomes very clear from a distance.

Moving in 2 years...

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 17:01

X posts Jay. Hooray for your cat!

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 17:08

Jay hurray!!!!!!!! That's brilliant news you must be made up!!!

Booboo, "chav" is such a funny word, the nearest equivalent in scouse I can think of is "meff" but that's more someone who is really, really rough and horrible, whereas isn't "chav" someone who is on a low income but dresses in designer clothes? If it is the latter that's me and practically everyone I know!! (Thanks of course to TK Maxx, rather than credit cards, I've learned that lesson!!)

I have posted on that one thread about the dogs jumping up 'cos I thought that thing the jogger said was really mean spirited, but now I am dreading that everyone is going to jump on me and have a go!!

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 17:11

Saw that post MsMoss.

It's hard when you love your dog, and people are getting all hysterical and saying they should be banned. (Note to self: ignore all posts by DominiConnor. He is an arse).

I'm feeling hormonal today, so should stay of dog threads, methinks.

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 17:21

Yes I have just posted one last time but I'm going to leave it now...

Still think he should have taken it up with the owner rather than threatening to kick the dog though. But I think the dog lover to dog hater ratio on that thread was a bit low and we probably wouldn't get much support!!!

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 05/01/2007 17:24

It always seems to be like that MsMoss . I can see why you'd be scared of dogs if you've been bitten, but dogs are generally so fantastic!

Media hysteria doesn't help much, I'm sure.

3rdTriMossTer · 05/01/2007 17:32

Booboo - maybe it is all going to change when we become Mums, and our pets are no longer our babies, but I am about to leave the office now in the knowledge that I'll get half licked and purred at to death when I get in and it's a lovely thought!!

Better go anyway, don't want to spend a moment longer than I have to in this office!! ("Early" finish on a Friday doncha know!)
