Hello ladies.

Just went and did our big Christmas Food shop with DH. Was great, but am totally shagged.

Diva - I just visited your thread again and posted. Won't comment here, but wtf? Some people... (not you, btw, in case you're worrying).

Am too tired to post at any length.

Am looking forward to Christmas. We were going to the outlaws, but there's been some Jerry-Springer-show-like goings-on over there, and convinced DH I was too hormonal to cope with it, and would spend Christmas Day crying in the loo.

(I'll tell you about it when I've got a bit more time. Jeremy Kyle eat yer heart out).

Our name is now mud on DH's side of the family. Do I care?

I'm quite enjoying this pregnanyc-related bloody-mindedness. Just need to protect my little one from mad family members!

hi everyone
thanks for all the thoughts. Things are calming down right now and I'm trying to ignore it all. It was such a shock to hear my mum has cancer, fingers and everything else crossed it hasn['t spread to the lymph glands anyway. My grandad is coming out of hospital for Xmas and staying with family (but not us)for a few weeks then might agree to a nursing home. It's really for the best, he's always falling over, which is how he ended up in hospital in the first place, and with his diagnosis it won't get better.
My bump is getting bigger and wigglier. She can't half kick up a storm at night time esp. I'm starting to get pelvic pain, right down the middle, which could be the start of spd - oh great! I've not had it before but apparently it is more common with 2nd, 3rd etc pregnancies, so maybe I will be getting an attractive girdle some time soon.
Has anyone had it before? Did it go back to normal after? It's pretty ok so far, I'm just worried about the next 12 weeks!
We're gearing up for Xmas, finally done most shopping but still not got the sprouts. ds2 wants a 'baby annabel who cries' (watches too much telly) for Xmas - honestly, he's such a girl! loves pink as well.
looks like I've finished work! Still need to get matb form so no mat allowance yet but I don't think it can start for a few more weeks anyway.
merry xmas everyone

bethoo · 21/12/2006 16:14

hello all
i am new to this forum. my baby boy is due on 2nd March and i cant wait as this is my first. would like to meet other first time mums who also have no idea and the more experienced people who can help with my little niggles eg is this and that normal?

kittyschristmascrackers · 21/12/2006 17:16

Morocco, glad things are calming down a bit

Welcome Bethoo, there are a mixture of first timers and many timers here!!! Hope you get as much comfort and support from as as we all have.

Must dash first day of hols and the dear ones are killing each other and trashing the house, bye

divastrop · 21/12/2006 17:24

hello and welcome bethoothere are a few first timers on this thread and a few experienced mothers like myself also.
when i say experienced i mean in the sense that ive had lots of children not that im wise and knowledeable btw

the environmental health just took down the basic details and said they would send us a noise diary etc and write to the offenders.
kitty-i dont think its fair she should be allowed to drive another family out.im way too stubborn and i would rather drive them out before i move again

think dp and i should visit that shop down the road a few weeks after this lo is born and find some ways of making lots of noise of our own

morocco-glad things have settled down for you a bit.ds2 wanted a doll for xmas when he was 18 months old.now hes a proper lad into football and fighting etc!but he loves playing with his baby sister.

ds2 wants me to do a 'yellow christmas tree'?!

OP posts:
kittyschristmascrackers · 21/12/2006 18:18

Diva, no it's not fair, but do you really want the hasslel? Have you got a cunning plan then?

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 21/12/2006 18:31

Morocco - don't think I'd said sorry to hear your news. . Hope you and your family are able to enjoy Christmas.

Welcome bethoo! I'm a first-timer: Boy due the day after yours!

TheBlonde · 21/12/2006 18:38

morocco - on the spd/pelvic pain front I got it around 22 weeks this time (my 2nd) but since I quit doing yoga it's been a lot better

hi & welcome bethoo

It's nearly the weekend
It's nearly Xmas

Took DS to DH's work xmas party today - quite good, he got to see Santa and a small present then we went out for lunch

Question for you all - when are you planning on sorting out nursery stuff etc? How far in advance of your due date?

kittyschristmascrackers · 21/12/2006 19:08

I normally get thee baby clothes out at about 38 weeks, apart from that nothing as baby sleeps with me during the night and on whatever's handy during the day!!( beanbags etc)

divastrop · 21/12/2006 20:14

kitty-i normally have the baby at 38 weeks

dp is going to decorate dd2's (blue and red)bedroom when the kids go back to school before lo arrives.i usually sort out my hospital bag etc about week 34 when my bp starts to mis-behave ,i have separate ones for me and the baby in case i get admitted.
im going to get the buggy etc after christmas if i can find something i actually like.they all seem to be a load of rubbish atm and there is only one baby shop in this town which makes it very hard work getting anything.

as far as noise goes,im going to see what happens with environmental health.i think this woman has got it into her head that any noise is only a problem after 11pm,which is totally not the case and i just want it all sorted.i dont understand how people can be so unreasonable and selfish.

kittyschristmascrackers · 21/12/2006 20:17

'cos they're thick as s**t Diva. Does she drag her knuckles along the ground when she walks and have you checked whether she's got the right number of noses, eyes and ears?

divastrop · 21/12/2006 21:04

im not quite sure what the correct amount of noses etc is for the inhabitants of this town.
now im being a snob

kittyschristmascrackers · 21/12/2006 21:24

There is a road in Brighton where all the people who walk down it look like they were extras in the "star wars bar" scene. It's truely scary to see them

MossletoeAndWine · 22/12/2006 08:54

Morning all,

Got back from Chester yesterday after a lovely, relaxing time. Got to go and get ready now for my driving lesson, and will catch up with everyone's news later!

bethoo · 22/12/2006 09:31

when is the best time to get the cot and buggy? i still feel as though i have not started preparing anything for the arrival. i am being picky when it comes to the buggy though as i want a rear facing one and they are hard to come across as most 2 in 1s become front facing after the pram stage!

Rosydingdongmerrily · 22/12/2006 09:41

Welcome Bethoo! I am having a boy too, fourth baby for me though!

Ooh I'm tired today, was up at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. the 2am waking wasn't a child (though that's debatable ) it was my crazy dh. He'd been out with his friend, then while sitting in the car chatting to his nephew on the phone a guy kept knocking on his window and wouldn't leave. He was drunk and couldn't get a taxi, so my crazy dh drove him home and got paid the guys usual taxi fare of £20 and listened to the drunk guy rambling about the woman he's in love with! Just lucky the two crazy guys found each other and neither of them got mugged!

TheBlonde · 22/12/2006 09:42

With DS who was due early Feb I did all the cot/buggy shopping in Jan once I was on my maternity leave

If you know which buggy you want Jan can be a good time to buy as sometimes last year's colours are discounted at places like kiddicare.com

I need to get a double but I'm going to leave ordering it til Feb I think

AmieR · 22/12/2006 09:49

Morning All,

Welcome Bethoo, I'm due March 1st, with Baby number 1! so we can worry together and count down days etc, and pick the brains of the others, who are fantastic

We have the pushchair sorted, that is it. We have a half decorated room too, waiting for the carpet fitter to get back to us abouit when he can lay the carpet but we've been chasing him for months and he's being elusive! Not what we need.

Have money put aside for pretty much everything else, hoping we can pick a few things up in the january sales!

When going through the box for decorations for the tree, I found £50 vouchers for John Lewis, so they'll come in handy too! Apart from that, Mothercare, WATCH OUT!

Diva - hope you had a quieter night.

kittyschristmascrackers · 22/12/2006 10:16

Morning all. Aime, my dp went on the works do yesterday, alcohol is oozing out of every pore in his body, he's in a good mood so I think he's still pissed

It's dd3's birthday today. I can't believe she's been with us for a year. It brings back lots of lovely memories. Now she would be three hours old!!!!

AmieR · 22/12/2006 10:21

Happy Birthday Kitty's DD3!

I remember having to get a taxi to work one morning after a christmas do, there was no way I wouldn't have legally been able to drive!

Its my DH's football do tonight, and our work do tomorrow.. His liver is in for a bashing this weekend. While as I'll be taxi!

bethoo · 22/12/2006 11:19

Thank you all for welcoming me so warmly.
s ohas everyone chosen names for their new arrivals?
AmieR - thnks for the advice, i think i will wait for the sales and see if they have any old stock going at discounted prices. all the buggies i like are expensive! i am quite lucky in that my dp sister had a baby boy 8 months ago so i am getting alot of his stuff. still cant believe it is finally happening after two miscarriages! still paraniod even now!
it is going to be all go after Xmas and New Year!

Rosydingdongmerrily · 22/12/2006 11:37

Kitty, happy birthday to dd3!

I am getting lots of baby boy stuff from my sister. The only thing I've decided I need is a new cot. The old cot is really rickety now. I want to get a cot-bed. Dh thinks the crappy one we've got is fine so I'll have to win him round some day when he has cash in his pocket and there's a bargain on the go![sneaky emoticon]

leomincepiesandbrandybutter · 22/12/2006 12:17

Hi Bethoo! and welcome! congratulations on the pregnancy!
ds was born at the end of February and we didn't have a single thing prepared until a few weeks before(although he was due mid march!). My advice is go get the absolute minimum you need in Jan & Feb and then buy stuff as you go along. Its so easy to buy loads of stuff that you really don't need.
This time dh is taking the week off after christmas so I guess we will use that time to sort things out.
We have been scanning names books, but haven't got any further than that really!

I think the bugaboo frog can go rear or forward facing as both situp and baby pushchair, however, your little one will be far more interested in facing outwards and seeing what is going on once he can sit up so I wouln't worry too much about him not being able to face towards you.

Rosy, we got a cot-bed from Ikea, they are really not very expensive and can be used until the child is about 4 years old. Bargain i think!

Happy Birthday Kitty's dd3!

Callie, its only half nice having given up work. I think its the best thing but it brings the prospect of life with the twins a bit closer and I have to admit that I am more worried about it than excited, if I was at work I wouln't have so much time to worry and would just have to deal with them when they get here. On the other hand I am looking forward to having time and energy to go swimming a couple of times a week, laying in bed in the morning....!

divastrop · 22/12/2006 16:51

kityy-happy birthday to your lo.are you having a party for her?

i was back to the hospital this morning as my head was killing me and i had a nose bleed and my face and fingers are swollen.my bp was fine though so i dontknow whats causing it.

luckily, next door didnt do the karaoke last night.

i went to tesco before.that was fun.ididnt experience the crowds this time last year cos dd2 was in intensive care and i forgot it was xmas till xmas eve when i went to the city centre and it was full of harrassed looking men(especially the lingerie and jewlery shops).

i did feel a bit at those people with trolleys full of booze though.i wouldnt mind if i could actually manage a glass of wine but i just get such bad heartburn its not worth it.

bethoo-IME babies prefer to face forward after 6 months as they love watching whats going on around them.
im getting concerned i wont be able to get a decent double buggy cos they all seem to be rubbish atm, unless you can afford to spend £500 on one which i cant.

28+2(girl...?)

Diva, i got a secondhand nipper instep. It's fab, so light, narrow and easy to steer. They're dead expensive new, but much cheaper secondhand. look on ebay.
