mawsy It must be tough working full time with a small toddler as well. I'm lucky in that this time around I am only working part time from home but I'm also doing a degree part-time for which I have done nothing at all yet this year.

I've ordered the double buggy, I think that's it though. I need to get a crib mattress and take the crib down from the loft. And sort everything else!

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 15/11/2015 18:54

maisie I had to defer my OU module to next October Sad this was before finding out I was pregnant though - Ive had all 4 wisdom teeth out, numerous gum infections (all AFTER quitting smoking Angry ) and the quality of my TMAs was dropping. Be interesting trying to do all the work with an 8 month old in tow!

MaryEllen1 · 15/11/2015 19:18

I deferred my module as well till next October, part of me wishing I'd done some of it now...

Have had a fresh batch of hormones today, spent the afternoon crying and being a cow for no reason, am a joy to live with today Grin just had a nice bath and looking forward to I'm a celeb tonight!!

Phoenix80 · 15/11/2015 21:08

Rufus and Isla - my high bg is 7.8 an hour after meals (5.3 first thing on a morning) Isla what meds you on? I'm on slow release metformin. Rufus no cereal's have worked for me. Either cooked brekkie or fruit and yogurt (mullerlights are ok but activia is very high in sugar)

Copy and pasted hospital bag list to my phones notes, thanks jelly Smile. I might be a 3rd timer but I've totally forgot everything Grin. I'm having elcs so I won't need some things anyway.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 15/11/2015 21:42

Im utterly convinced I wont know Im in labour again, like with DC3 Blush Consultant offered me a sweep at my 39 week appointment and told me I was 4-5cm dilated Shock around 4pmish. Went home. Didnt feel anything. Went back to be checked again at 9pm. Was still the same, admitted onto ward. 11pm waters broke, taken onto Labour Ward. Then it did start to hurt a bit, but not enough for me to want pain relief. Checked at 1am. MW broke the hind waters. After that I did hammer the gas and air, chucked it down at 1:30am and 10 mins of pushing later DD was born. In theory, similar is likely to happen again. Its now a 45 min drive to hospital. Its likely I will feel nothing until my waters go. And I might not even be able to walk to the car to drive there. Confused OR I could have a 36 hour labour ala DC1.

Pffffft. This birth lark is a pain in the ass.

sparkofnaturesfire · 15/11/2015 22:34

Hi all. I popped on to say hello the other day so thought I'd come back to join in the chat Smile

I'm absolutely not prepared unlike some of you! Impressive! I've done nothing so far. Had a mooch online for a cot today but that was it. With DC1 it was everything baby, this time I've not done anything to prepare!

I'm booked in for a glucose tolerance test tomorrow. I'm NOT looking forward to it at all. Never had it with my first although the midwife I had then was bordering on negligent. I read about the test online and some NHS areas allow you to go home inbetween the blood tests and drink water but not mine. Oh no. I have to wait for the 3 hours at least in the uncomfy waiting room with Jeremy Kyle on in the background. Just about to see if I can get a decent book for my kindle to read while I'm waiting. Groan.

IslaMann · 15/11/2015 22:40

Pheonix I'm on Metformin but not the slow release. I've started taking it twice a day from today. My range is 3.5-5.0 pre breakfast, and 5.5-8.0 post meals. My diabetes team told me that as pregnancy progresses the hormone that stops the uptake of glucose by insulin gets higher so not to be surprised or upset if I end up on insulin. Not looking forward to that.

Rufus200 · 16/11/2015 07:57

Phoneix and Isla have you heard of inositol? It is a supplement that I started to help me get pregnant as I have PCOS. It helps better regulate blood glucose and insulin resistance, which is all related to infertility. I've been on 1000mg per day throughout pregnancy but I'm going to increase back up to 2000mg which I was on before BFP. Did you get given a BG level that they consider hypoglycaemic? I've noticed baby is still moving same time patterns but a lot less energetically since I stopped eating sugar and was wondering if it was lower blood glucose causing it.

MamaBerg · 16/11/2015 09:08

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend.

Glad I've not had to do the GTT by the sounds of it!

We are not very prepared for baby yet as a lot of you seem to be. I'm 27 weeks today and keep telling myself we still have ages to go! One bit of 'prep' we did do Saturday was buying a new car that baby (and all its paraphernalia) will fit into. We hadn't planned on that 'til the new year but got some good bargains so went for it. Picking it up in a couple of weeks Smile.

Pulled a muscle in my arm on Thursday and I am still in absolute agony with it. Not improved over the weekend at all. Think I may have to go to the docs with it. I spoke to a pharmacist but they just said paracetamol - that's not going to work!!

clarabellski · 16/11/2015 09:19

Hi everyone

Flowers to those you you dealing with GD.

Zebras I'm glad everything was OK after your visit to the hospital and I hope your placenta moves in time!

Thanks for posting the packing lists as well ladies. Great idea packing some crochet/knitting! We really need to start getting stuff sorted - we're in the 'not organised' camp. We're planning to go shopping for a pram and car seat at the end of this month though, which is a good start!

Does anyone feel like they're running out of room already? I'm 28 weeks today and for the past week can feel what I think are feet/legs sticking up into my sternum (either that or some other organs that the baby has shoved out of the way). Every burp brings up a bit of acid/sick (sorry, TMI!). I can only imagine what it is going to feel like at 40 weeks Shock

Sighing · 16/11/2015 09:45

We're not baby equipment shopping until the post Christmas / January sales.
The acid / heartburn is quite misery inducing for me too. Still there is gaviscon, I may buy shares.

monkerina · 16/11/2015 09:49

Anyone that was looking to buy a breast pump- the Medela Swing is on Amazon's Deal of the Day for £70, nearly 50% off...

monkerina · 16/11/2015 09:56

Just reading back... I'm in awe at you ladies coping with GD, sounds challenging! In my area the GTT seems slightly... lite; they give you the drink in advance to have at home, then you wander in to the hospital for a blood test two hours later. Just one blood test, then you wait for an hour for the results. I was declared non-GD, but now slightly concerned that they had no base point pre-drink to comare against?!

Not feeling particularly organised either- we have a pushchair and pram, car seat, cot but no mattress, and the promise of a moses basket from my mum, going to have to get some clothes, toiletries etc at some point and do the hospital bag! It all just feels a bit unreal still!

CalypsoLilt · 16/11/2015 09:56

Just been to the doctors who has confirmed SPD (pelvic girdle pain); she poked my pubic bone and I nearly leapt off the bed Sad. She has prescribed me codeine and referred me to physio. At home today with a cold and feeling very sorry for myself.

MaisieDotes · 16/11/2015 11:19

That's crap calypso I hope the meds give you some relief.

Brew for you.

sparkofnaturesfire · 16/11/2015 11:46

Well GTT done, really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.. I've been worrying about it since it was booked months ago. To phone tomorrow for the results.

Sounds painful Calypso Sad I hope you get the help you need. I was referred to physio for my back pain and it was great, I hope you get some relief.

Sighing · 16/11/2015 12:45

Sorry to hear that calypso BrewCake.

MaryEllen1 · 16/11/2015 12:55

Ouch sounds painful calypso especially with not feeling well as well! Rest up and look after yourself Thanks

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 16/11/2015 13:11

Oh gosh I feel for everyone with ailments in the last trimester. I must be really bloody lucky that I feel absolutely fine! you just know I've jinxed it now by saying that lol

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 16/11/2015 13:11

Calypso I feel for you, its awful. I had to take DD1 to the GPs today, and instead of walking the 0.8 miles I had to get a cab. Then I walked 0.3 miles to Morrisons for Calpol and almost ended up in tears, got a cab home too Sad Urgh. So frustrating not being able to do bog standard stuff. Even the school run pains me.

DD1 has The Smell. The one they get when they are ill. Nurse said it could be just a stomach bug but there were signs of a UTI in her urine, not enough to prescribe antibs so shes sent the sample off for testing, and if DD stays the same to send her to school tomorrow with Calpol. Sigh. Her attendance is already shocking due to the week off when she was being bullied.

Pram shopping in a fortnight. Its the Crusi vs Cameleon showdown at Mamas and Papas. IKEA is just across the way so might pop in there to look at cots. MIL is taking us as we are still car-less.

RattyCatty · 16/11/2015 17:44

calypso Cake and sympathy, that sounds v painful

Rufus200 · 16/11/2015 18:10

Clara I also get the sick burp as well

Calypso hope you feel better soon

Monkerina you can buy urine glucose test strips off amazon cheaply. It is not normal for humans to have glucose in their urine so if you get a positive then ask for another blood test. Humans don't get glucose in their urine until they reach 8-9 BG according to the specialist today.

DH got really cross with the specialist but kept his mouth shut today. I got told off for my weight gain, what was the point in that, I've gained the weight can't lose it now and I've already changed my diet. We were both spoken down to like we were idiots. The only useful things was I got a prescription for metformin but told to do diet for another week before I start taking it. Also had my long term glucose tested, which was normal so shows that this is all a new development. Was told to put carbs back into my diet and that without them I wouldn't be getting enough calories. Went to SIL's Birthday lunch, had 2 slices of bread, salad and a risotto. Halfway through the risotto I had to ask DH to take me out of the restaurant for air as I was about to slide under the table unconcious. Did my BG after lunch was 11.5 Shock God only knows what they had put the sugar in or how much but won't be eating out again anytime soon or eat more then 1 carb at a time. Sad thing is lunch wasn't even good so wasn't worth the high level, I would have much rather have eaten something delicious to deserve that level!

goneswimming · 16/11/2015 18:19

I'm not feeling super-prepared either! We have a pram and cot, but no mattresses, and nothing else. I was planning on buying clothes etc after Christmas!

jellypi3 · 16/11/2015 18:30

We've got a pram, car seat and Co sleeper. Bought the medela pump today and got some little bits at an nct sale. Everything else I'm buying after Christmas. Hoping for a good sale on nursery furniture.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 16/11/2015 18:44

IKEAs Nursery stuff is amazing. DDs £50 cot went through 4 babies - DD, friends baby, DD2 and DNeph. DSis then turned into a desk for DNeph! It was the Gulliver Cot. Getting it again as its smaller than other cots and we are tight on space in our room. It can be turned into a toddler bed as well.

I doubled my Clubcard points and blew them on plain white babygrows and vests. H&M have an amazing range of clothes too, Ive just been picking up bits and bobs since we started TTC last October (although after the MC in December I did pack them away.)

I also have my stretchy sling and ring sling, change bag, cloth nappies, a couple of cheap nursing bras.

Im feeling a tad panicked. But spending on baby has to halt whilst we spend on Christmas and DDs birthday.

Although my to buy list is quite small.

Pram
Car seat
Cot
Mattress
Bedding
Nursing tops

DSis wants to buy a baby bouncer/swing so Ive told her to buy whatever takes her fancy, Im not fussy and she has good taste Grin
