1st NCT class, had a panic attack when they started talking about labour. Sat quietly in a cold sweat, feeling dizzy. 100% the right decision to be having an ELCS! Apparently we are having a c-section session in the 3rd class as midwife wants everyone to be prepared if they have to have an EMCS.

jellypi3 · 14/11/2015 19:17

had another scan today, got some great shots of the baby :)

rufus our second nct was so much better than the first!!

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 14/11/2015 19:35

I can no longer shave my legs. It hurts too much to bend. Gah. Wax at the salon it is then. Upside: the Bah Humbug Bubble Bar from LUSH smells amazing and turned my bathwater purple yes I am a child and Im now in bed with Maltesers waiting for DH to come up so we can watch the new Terminator film. Sky Multi Room is probably the best investment Ive made this year.

MALM drawers (set of 3) are now set up in the living room and house the pre washed and stuffed newborn nappies Grin Feels a tad more real now!

haquoi123 · 14/11/2015 20:43

till you're far more organised than me! We haven't started on the baby room yet and I've got a bin bag of baby things in the car that have sat there for a week now, I don't even know what's in it! I'm planning my baby shower for new year's eve though to echo an earlier sentiment, putting baby first and written birth preferences. Just not sorted anything for the actual bubba!

28 weeks today and officially in third trimester, woo!!

jelly please upload, I'd love to see your lil'un :)

rufus I had loads of triggers at my hypnobirthing classes (they also double as antenatal), it was a bit of a shock. Like jelly said though, it did get easier. It's always good to have that reassurance that you've made the best decision for yourself, isn't it? Starting the NHS ones in December and preparing to take it with a pinch of salt (apart from the breastfeeding)

Can anyone copy and paste a hospital bag list for me? I want to pack a bag tomorrow just incase as I have a low lying placenta and am expecting a bleed at some point.

Thanks Flowers

haquoi123 · 14/11/2015 22:22

Aww jelly, look at those fingers!!! How beautiful!

whoknew I'm sorry I didn't use a list, but packed:
Dress
Camisole top
2 pairs leggings
Multitude of knickers and socks
Deodorant
Hair brush
Birth Preferences (I've done one for premature labour and one for my ideal home birth too much time on my hands)

I forgot to pack:
Jumper
Pyjamas
Something comforting that can keep me reassured, like a blanket or pillow
Hypnobirthing stuff
Books, headphones, music
Phone charger

I'm sure there are more things that can be added. What have you packed zebra?

When I was in hospital in Italy though, the main thing I desperately wanted were knickers. But that's because me and bed pans have never, ever got on.

haqoi thanks :) she wasn't keen on giving us face shots so we got her hand instead lol!

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 15/11/2015 09:25

Perfect, thank you. I can pick and choose from that list so that's great. Last time I seemed to pack for the baby but not for me. I'd have killed for a bar of soap and a sponge.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 15/11/2015 09:27

I guess at 27.5 weeks I am also now in the third trimester Grin. Not long to go now!!

Rufus200 · 15/11/2015 09:50

28 weeks today which means my hospital will now actually let me in the door for things other then routine check ups.

Had plain porridge this morning, was the most disgusting breakfast I've ever eaten but adding anything to it sky rockets my BG. Need to find something else I can actually eat and like. Don't really like eggs in the morning and can't eat without toast and if I have toast then it is completely pointless.
Seeing the diabetic specialist tomorrow, who I'm hoping will change the values of high BG as what I've read online they are actually set at 7.8 and not 7.0 as my Dr told me.

Thanks for the list jelly, very useful

haquoi123 · 15/11/2015 09:57

jelly that list makes me sweat, I feel so unprepared!! I was also looking up what we need for a home birth and had a bit of a panic! Head thoroughly back in the sand. Might do my taxes instead Confused

Anyone else getting an itchy belly?

IslaMann · 15/11/2015 10:05

Rufus my high level is set at 8.0, so it's obviously not too rigid. I've started on meds now so am consistently under the high, which is a relief. But I've found any sort of carbs at breakfast sets me off, so bread, cereal and porridge are all out. Eggs and bacon with tomato and mushroom seems to be the way forward!

NorthernChinchilla · 15/11/2015 10:58

The one thing I'd say for your hospital list is when it comes to clothes for you, remember you are likely to still be the size of a 7 month pregnant lady, just more achy and leaky!
Pack your most comfy pregnancy clothes (and stuff for bf if you're doing it).

I was very surprised at the size I still was! I'd also have reading material, but that's because I go a bit funny if away from the printed word for more than a few hours....

MaisieDotes · 15/11/2015 11:11

Hi all. I mustn't have posted in a few days as this dropped off my threads list!

I'm having a lazy Sunday so far, I was up at 6.30am with DS but then went back to bed at 8.30 and have been here ever since!

I need to rest my back as I overdid it a bit during the week and especially yesterday- I had 30 people (plus about 6 kids) to the house for my dad's 70th birthday. Everything went well and my dad was delighted but ooof- I was exhausted afterwards.

I can feel the back pain creeping back a bit; nothing like before but I am terrified of it coming back. It was so debilitating there were some days I just wanted to cry with pain and frustration. I will go directly back to the osteopath if it starts to get bad again.

MaisieDotes · 15/11/2015 11:15

Oh- I wanted to ask, how frequent are everyone's visits to midwife etc after 28 weeks? The system I'm on in Ireland is shared care with the GP so you alternate between GP and midwife.

I saw the midwife last Tuesday at 28+6 and she told me to come back to her at 32 weeks, but in the meantime see my GP at 30 weeks. It seems a lot but I can't remember the frequency of visits at this stage of previous pregnancies Confused

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 15/11/2015 13:18

I'm having scans at 29, 32 and 36 weeks as I'm consultant led and have a low lying placenta. I have one midwife appnt booked at the moment but they are very hands off. I think because I'm consultant led. A

Stepawayfromthezebras · 15/11/2015 13:38

Yup, Haquoi and jelly have it covered with those lists.

In my triage bag I have kindle, crochet, phone charger and hospital notes with snacks and bottle of water to hand to bung in if I need to set off.

For a hospital bag I've got a couple of changes of comfy clothes, towel (I completely didn't realise I'd need this), toiletries - I grabbed my toiletry bag and it didn't have any moisturiser in it (you'll really need moisturiser and lip balm, my skin's so dry after my visit) but I did have my cats worming tablets in it - not massively necessary Grin - and then my triage bag.

Need to get baby stuff sorted but like haquoi I think I may procrastinate with doing my taxes instead - really need to get them done before baby arrives!

Mawsymoo · 15/11/2015 16:26

maisie that's right - here it's every 2 weeks from 28 weeks to 36 weeks and then weekly from then on.

RattyCatty · 15/11/2015 16:41

Gorgeous pic jelly and thanks for list. I am so disorganised compared to so many of you! Confused

MaisieDotes · 15/11/2015 16:59

Thanks mawsy - I think I might actually be a tiny bit in denial about the fact that I'm quite far along Confused

I'll be 30 weeks on Wednesday Shock Shock

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 15/11/2015 17:05

Gosh, I take next to nothing in!

Nursing vests
Joggers
PJs
Slippers
Lots of massive pants
Pads (breast and maternity)
Shampoo/conditioner
Toothbrush/paste
Hairbrush
Bobbles
Phone and charger
Camera and charger
Cash
Water

8 sleepsuits
8 vests
Lots of muslin squares
Nappies
Cotton balls

ExDP bought car seat/blanket when he picked us up, DH will do the same.

Mawsymoo · 15/11/2015 17:10

maisie same here - 30 weeks tomorrow and apart from getting the buggy second hand I haven't got a thing organised. I'm getting a bit freaked out by how close Christmas is (have nothing organised for that either) and then afterwards I'll only have a few weeks to go! I'm working full-time and just not getting time to do anything

birdbrain21 · 15/11/2015 17:17

Haven't posted for a while but been reading all your posts. I'm 30 weeks tomorrow can't believe I'm 3 quarters lf the way through! Been writi losts last night I feel far less organised this time because I know all the big things are sorted already feel like nothing is ready but got a couple of days off this week so will hopefully get it sorted.
Dh just told me he's booked for me to go away before rhe baby is born just one night in a local hotel but I'm so excited for a bit of time by myself feel so guilty I've been horrible to him all pregnancy hope he's done it to be nice and not get rid of me ;)

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 15/11/2015 17:52

I have a lot of other stuff to sort out - Christmas for 3 DCs, DD2 is 5 mid January, DNiece is 3 end of January, plus some other minor birthdays (DSis, SIL, DDad, DStepMum, DStepDad) across December and January too. Its becoming a tad stressful Blush I must admit.

I have MW next Tues and Consultant/Scan the day after that. How frequently I see them after depends on the results of scan.
