If anyone is still looking for a stylish maternity winter coat, there are loads on zulily, shipping is £3.99 and there are no extra taxes on the price.

I got the Momo black Marlo and love it. It is really warm.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 07/11/2015 20:29

We travelled an hour today to pick up a co sleeping cot from an eBay seller. I had the same one for DS and I set it up when I got home even though I said I wouldn't and it's now by the side of my bed lol. We do need to get some extension legs and a strap for it but I feel as though I've actually purchased something useful now so I'm pleased Grin

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 07/11/2015 20:33

Troika I was kind of proud that I carried small with DS and he was 7lb 8oz. This time though I'm just scared it means this baby's growth is poor. They have booked me in for a 29 week scan as well as 32 and 36, so I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks.

Rufus200 · 07/11/2015 21:03

Just got back from a public fireworks display, which I loved, had a great time, except when we were leaving. It was extremely muddy and slippy and some stupid woman next to me started to fall and grabbed hold of me to right herself. She got the most filthy look from me and then started having a go at me because I gave her a dirty look. What do you expect love, I have a huge bump on me, I'm not stable on my own feet and if you pulled me over and I landed on my bump, you could have killed my baby and you expect me to be nice to you, stupid cow! Angry

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 07/11/2015 21:43

rufus Angry whadda biatch!

Some bloke knocked me flying last week, busy City Centre, walked into me on my left side from behind. My first thought was oh shit, pick pocket, so as I righted myself I was checking my pockets. Bloke then stood there, all short and posh, called me "a stupid woman" I responded "I dont have wing mirrors pal, you walked smack into me" he carried on calling me a stupid woman, I said yes, a woman, a pregnant, disabled one who you have knocked flying and are now verbally abusing, well done, now kindly shut up and fuck off Blush

Morning!

V day for me today!

Am spending the day being lazy and looking at nursery furniture on he internet instead of going to the shops as feel really tired for some reason.

joleyn · 08/11/2015 13:33

V day for me on Tuesday. Will feel so happy to get past that.

We are moving ds into small room today so we can get bigger room ready for twins. I really hope he ssettles in it, am so worried about how he will cope when twins come :-(

IslaMann · 08/11/2015 16:42

Found out on Thurs that I have gestational diabetes. Saw the diabetes specialist mw on Friday who gave me a monitor to check my blood sugars 4 times a day. She said if I get 3 high results in any 48hr period I am to call the diabetes specialist team and they will start me in medication. I've already had 4 highs in 36 hrs but the team only works Mon- Fri. So spent last night panicking that am making the baby ill. I'm a nurse so have a little knowledge, but can't seem to rationalise this.

MaisieDotes · 08/11/2015 17:10

Isla sorry to hear about your GD what a pain and an extra worry for you Sad

joleyn how old is your DS? Mine is 15mo and I'm starting to worry about how he'll take to the new baby too, although I only have one to worry about! I also have DD who is 14yo and has a set of state exams this year (we're in Ireland). I hope I can maintain some sort of order in the household when the baby is born < optimistic face >

madsaz76 · 08/11/2015 17:57

sounds horrible Isla but not long till you can ring them.

Long term sustained hyperglycaemia an issue - but a short period more not going to cause imminent damage. Just stick to a low sugar diet till you can ring them - it's not long now.

Totally unrelated but I need to share somewhere. We have a Quinny pram but my dyslexic husband has got into his head that its called a Quim. I have tried (nicely) to explain why thats a really bad word to be using and now am verging dangeroudly close to taking the P**severy time he says it.

Which I know is not fair. But it is one of my favourite obscene words.

monkerina · 08/11/2015 19:01

Madsaz, I don't think I could prevent myself from calling it The Quim Grin I'm not sure how many people are aware of the word though, and as it's a rather quaint, delicate, Victorian term... I personally think it's quite amusing, sorry!

MaisieDotes · 08/11/2015 19:50

madsaz Ahahaha Grin

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 08/11/2015 20:15

Does anyone know if the gestational diabetes test is given to everyone and at what gestation? I've received the whooping cough letter and I have my rhesus neg injection soon, but no mention whatsoever of the GD test Confused

madsaz76 · 08/11/2015 20:27

GD Test for those wih positive family history of diabetes or those with previous big babes or measuring big as far as I know.

Had mine last week and all ok - cheers mum

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 08/11/2015 20:51

madsaz Grin DH and I cackling at that. Had to read it to him, its one of his favourite words; and quite often tells me I'm a mewling quim. Grin

isla Walk in centre or call midwife? Shocking that they are shut over the weekend!

MaryEllen1 · 08/11/2015 20:52

Sounds horrible isla. Try not to worry too much as you'll be able to ring them soon.

I have my GD check on 25 Nov as father has diabetes and I'm over 30 not looking forward to it.

When are people going on to maternity leave? I want to work for as long as possible, my aim is to go at 38 weeks, but with commuting in to London and it being my first I have nothing to compare too and not sure how I'll feel towards the end. What are others experiences?

Sighing · 08/11/2015 20:54

GD test if you hit certain risk factors or glucose detected in your urine sample at midwife check. The GTT is done around 24- 28 weeks. I've requested one (family history) but I've also had miscarriage (another risk factor) + my age (!) I'm amazed I wasn't automatically forwarded really.

Sighing · 08/11/2015 20:56

Weight, pcos, high amniotic fluid, certain ethnic groups are also risk factors.

Sighing · 08/11/2015 20:59

I went on maternity leave at 37+5dd with DD1 (dd born at 38+0). It was ok. I did slow down a bit. And mainly slept when i got home. Exhausting, but fine.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 08/11/2015 21:24

I do seem to fit some of the risk factors so I think I'll ting the midwife tomorrow and see what they say.

Anyone having a 3d/4d scan done? We did with DS but i don't think we will this time. You have to go around 28 weeks as if you leave it too late the babies head starts to engage and they can't get good photos.

This little one had been kicking all day. I must be black and blue inside!

jellypi3 · 08/11/2015 21:57

mary I'm finishing at 36 weeks. It feels a bit early but I'm already finding the commute a struggle and it means my last day is new years Eve so rounds the year off nicely

NorthernChinchilla · 08/11/2015 21:58

Currently sitting in the blissful glow that can only come from having eaten a large portion of apple and blackberry crumble with a wee dribble of cream... considering I did over an hour's hard gardening and then took DS to the park (not great for the PGP) and essentially just had vegetables for dinner, I don't feel too stuffed!

I went to 38 weeks with DS mary, and had him by c-section at 39 weeks. I'll be planning similar again, although may have two weeks off and/or go down to four days a week for the last month. DP could pick me up from the station after work before, and that's not a an option now.

That's a bugger about the GD isla and I hope you can get seen first thing Monday to get sorted. AFAIK, raging unchecked GD can lead to serious issues, but a couple of days of higher-than-usual blood sugars should not be an issue.

Right, off to bed, another busy week ahead. We've got DS's parents' evening (cough) at pre-school tomorrow, so will be interesting.

Troika · 09/11/2015 06:33

Isla what a pita regarding the gd. But at least it's Monday now so you can get hold of someone.

I'm planning on working til 39+5. But it depends how I feel and of course whether baby decides to come early.

Troika · 09/11/2015 06:39

When I had my first my parents wanted to help buy my pram. We were walking round toys r us and my mum said " that one looks nice. OH no, you can't have that, it's called a quim"
