EBay!

NorthernChinchilla · 06/11/2015 07:42

I've bought nice ones from Top shop (more cocktail, but received lots of positive comments at the weekend, wore it to a evening wedding do) and Next (from last time round, but wore to a full day wedding and will be wearing for work do).
Love doing pregnancy glam!

clarabellski · 06/11/2015 09:14

Tired my mum picked me up a nice dress in the M&S outlet for £20. It is not a maternity dress, she just bought me a size up and it is one of those smock style dresses so hangs over bump nicely. It was a nice festive purple.

If you have a Next outlet near you that's usually a good shout for party dresses as well.

AnnikaMeek · 06/11/2015 09:42

Hello, I'm pretty late joining here but a friend of mine just recommended it and it sounds really good. I'm due 3rd Feb. Hope it's ok to get involved in the chat :-) it's starting to become very real now!

haquoi123 · 06/11/2015 09:50

Sitting here and wondering what babies actually do with themselves in the womb and so found this article. #7 actually had me in tears- the idea that my baby could be crying and me not realise or be able to comfort him... I feel so awful! www.bellybelly.com.au/pregnancy/amazing-things-baby-does-in-womb/

Hi annika, sorry for the x-post! Welcome!!

Everything was okay Grin I've not had an anterior placenta before and the MW said it could be that with the baby turning, and the placenta position that meant I couldn't feel the movements. You'd think with this being my 4th that I'd be a bit more stable but nope I still worry about every little thing Grin

DCs have an inset day, we were out late at a Bonfire last night and so I'm still in my pyjamas watching a wanky Lifetime Movie waiting for Pizza Hut to arrive.

Fuzzibunz arrived yesterday, they are so adorable. Finally started buying some clothes for the baby, feels more "real" now we have things in the house.

DH has decided he definitely wants a Grand Picasso. Unfortunately we probably won't be in a position to buy one until next Spring. Sigh. How did the test drive go?

Tiredoftiredness · 06/11/2015 17:01

Glad all ok till

Thanks for the clothes tips. Have just ordered £77 of bits from asda - who knew they had such a good maternity range?!

goneswimming · 06/11/2015 17:59

I've been looking at asda too- they look like really good stuff!

IslaMann · 06/11/2015 18:42

I've bought nearly all of my mat clothes. from George. They're surprisingly good quality and wash really well.

Mawsymoo · 06/11/2015 20:41

Well I just bought a double buggy - I got the baby jogger city mini. I got it second hand for a good price and it came with foot muffs... so I guess that's my baby prep started!

clumsypots · 06/11/2015 22:09

mawsy I've just started baby prep too with a Moses basket paid for with the last of our wedding vouchers Smile

Mawsymoo · 06/11/2015 22:41

Yay clumsy - it's great to be started!

Franny1977 · 06/11/2015 22:51

mawsy, I've been looking at 2nd hand double city joggers they look great. Glad you made a good purchase. I'll keep checking gumtree and eBay.

haquoi123 · 06/11/2015 22:57

mawsy where did you get your baby jogger from? I'm looking at the city mini versa gt but it's not so popular!

I've just spent the evening sorting through a pile of donated baby clothes. There are a few things I don't know what to do with! Like lovely flannel sheets - are they blankets or cot sheets? They all need washing (the family had a dog and I'm allergic) but it felt good, as well as bitter sweet, to sort through it all.

I got so excited on asda website at the great nursing vest packs and then found they only had size 20 and above in all colours Sad

Does anyone else's bump skin look like this or have I just got really bad skin that isn't coping? I curse my father's side of the family with their horrible burns instantly in sunlight Casper the ghost, paper thin skin, wish I had got my mum's lovely olive skin.

! Sorry I totally forgot to tell you. The test drives went very well. I found both cars straight forward. Not as heavy on the steering as I thought. I felt the visibility/ adjustability was better in the picasso. But I found the galaxy more comfy (a bit but then i've driven fords since i was 17 !).
I am in a quandry but the picasso will save us a packet of cash.

Sighing · 07/11/2015 03:43

Rufus. I am very casparish myself. I am not getting many broken veins (?? I'm not sure how much skin that is so i may be wrong) as such, but even the faintest stretch mark shows up (contrast). On the flipside, the old ones that fade to silvery white yone in very well with my pale skin and are less noticeable (imho) than friends with beautiful tans.

Sighing · 07/11/2015 03:44

*tone.
Plus I am very meh about stretchmarks. Sod em. Life is too short to fret.

Mawsymoo · 07/11/2015 04:39

haquoi I got it from a buying/selling site here in Ireland. I've been keeping an eye on the site for ages and it came up and the seller was close to me so I made a snap decision to bid on it! I'm happy with it now as we got an uppababy Vista for ds and it cost an arm and a leg, so I felt I didn't want to shell out too much this time. When ds is in creche I'll still be using the uppababy for the baby so this is purely for walks with the two of them.

Insomnia here...

jellypi3 · 07/11/2015 08:18

We had our first NCT class night!!! For some reason, it made the whole thing a lot more real!!

We are also moving Monday 16th, so we can start buying baby stuff very soon!!!!

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 07/11/2015 08:20

I feel as though I should be doing classes even though it's my second!! I have completely forgotten how to breast feed, I'm scared!!!

RattyCatty · 07/11/2015 08:21

Welcome annika!

How was NCT jelly?

So glad it's the weekend.

rufus I don't have broken veins but my belly button is looking v dodgy!

MaisieDotes · 07/11/2015 08:26

Another Casper-type here! I have red hair (well, I was red as a child, I'm sort of dark auburn now) and very pale Irish skin.

I got some stretch marks with DD (15 years ago) on my boobs and just the very bottom of my abdomen. They were only about 3cm at their longest and faded really quickly after the birth.

No new ones with DS, but the old ones became more apparent. I'm hoping for no more new ones again, but there's no way to avoid them IMO.

Congrats on buggy purchase mawsy ! There's nothing like a good bargain is there.

Bad sleep last night, kept waking up and only ever went into a really light sleep when I did nod off. DH is working today so I'm here with DS and his (very loud) dumper truck Grin

Troika · 07/11/2015 11:59

Rufus your skin tone still looks a lot more even than mine does normally. I'm also very pale, and blotchy and uneven. Quite hairy at the best of times but currently looking like an ape with the amount of body hair Sad

On the plus side I have so far avoided stretch marks, apart from the ones on my bum from puberty, and on my boobs from dc1, and the ones I do have are silvery. Oh apart from a really deep ridged one next to my fanjo which I also got when pregnant with dc one. That one is quite pink still but not many people get to see that part of me so not too worried.

Whoknew, I'm the same with the bump paranoia. Ds I never measured bigger than 28 weeks and he was 7lb so I know I just carry small but the comments from everyone don't help. Even the practice nurse said yesterday "where's your bump? I was expecting you to say you were about ten weeks". She should know better imo.
