northern what a horrible thing to happen. Glad to hear you are both ok and fingers crossed that you don't stiffen up tomorrow, have a relax over the weekend.

I have just weighed myself and have put on 4kilos, I'm 24 weeks tomorrow. I have no idea if that is normal or not!

I am getting very confused over car seat bases, I have no isofix in my car and I know that graco bases strap in with the seat belt but I don't know if any others do. Does anyone know about this?

Rufus200 · 23/10/2015 22:47

clumsy I'm sure maxi cosi strap in because the sales assistant today was going on about how it was impossible to strap the pebble incorrectly in if you didn't have isofix but was possible to incorrectly strap the cabriofix in.

northern glad you are ok, sounds horrible.

haquoi123 · 24/10/2015 03:06

Oh northern, so glad to hear you're all ok! It's just not what you need. Take care of yourself, lots of relaxing baths Flowers

Awake at 3pm... Hmm argh!

Er... 3am not pm!

Pretty rubbish day here too. Was awake from 4, scraped the new car on a bollard on the way to work and then ended up working 7am-10pm and got no dinner. Oh and saw physio and have spd in my left hip :-( and now my ds has been awake since 5.20. I could cry!!
I have only put on about 3lbs so far, but I did lose half a stone with being so sick in the first few months. My bump is getting massive now, am 21+5, but the twins have moved up and out! With my ds I put on about 2 stone and was very lucky to lose it almost straight away with breastfeeding etc x

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 24/10/2015 08:03

clumsy I have a graco seat and base as I bought the travel system for my son. It worked absolutely fine, you can also just use the seat with a seatbelt without the base.

Phoenix80 · 24/10/2015 08:07

Hi all Smile

Maxi cosi do a strap in base cos I've got it. It's the easy base 2 and is for the pebble or cabriofix. The easyfix (isofix) is only for the cabriofix. I bought one off eBay without realising that and we have got a pebble so I need to sell that one now, oops Blush

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

NorthernChinchilla · 24/10/2015 08:28

Feeling knackered (hope the baby enjoyed all that adrenaline!) and rather sore of neck but OK so far.

With the car seat, we're just going to reuse DS's - partly as it's awesome cow-print!- but want to get one of the bases to put in the car that swivel, just so loading is easier. Has anyone used/got/would recommend?

Bummer for the broken night haquoi, a one-off or insomnia?

CalypsoLilt · 24/10/2015 12:59

Here's my newborn stash! Glad I got this all out cos there's more than I thought...oops!

2 x microfibre little lambs (end of the line discounts)
10 x bamboo little lambs (2nd hand)
6 x little lamb wraps (2nd hand)
6 x bumgenius somethings? (2nd hand)
Loads of liners, fleece and bamboo I think
2 nappy bags (given)
And my fav, 2 x bambooty omg they are just too cute

That makes 20...... reckon I need more?! I think so ;)

We had a nursery consultation today at John Lewis which was really helpful in terms of advice on different options....I think I've changed my mind from a graco Evo travel system, to a bugaboo chameleon. Has anyone used one and have any thoughts?

Rufus200 · 24/10/2015 19:20

gone I've also chosen the chameleon, it was the lightest for me to pick up, easiest to fold and folded up smallest. It was a winner as far as I was concerned.

haquoi it is my standard now to be awake from 3am to 6am. I get too hot despite the heating being off in the night and only having a summer weight duvet on, spend most of the night with the duvet thrown off. DH has been sleeping with the duvet up round his ears and another cover on top and screams everytime I move that I'm letting the cold air in!

I nearly kicked DH in the supermarket today, he was pissing me off so much. He was behaving like a surly teenager and had his earphones in listening to music and was refusing to help. All because he didn't want to go and paint the building site. It is not like at 25 weeks pregnant that I still want to be exposing baby to paint fumes or climbing ladders but we have only finished 2 rooms, got 1 3/4 finished and still have 2 more rooms and the hallway to start. He seems to think the painting fairy is going to magically arrive and do it. At least he gets to escape tomorrow to the American football where as I will be onsite again. Nursery at least is completely finished.

MaisieDotes · 24/10/2015 19:33

I have a Cameleon, it's great although I'm not using it at present (using iCandy raspberry).

The carrycot of the Cameleon is a decent size and DS took all his daytime naps in it. I think I've mentioned my love of pram carrycots for daytime naps before now have I? Grin Anyway I find it great as you can walk or just rock the baby to sleep.

The Cameleon is also handy for putting the car seat on once you have the adapters. And the big seat is nice and comfy. I have to confess I stopped using it at about 8 months and got the raspberry which is a bit nippier but that was partly because I had got the Cameleon for free (inherited from my cousin) and I also got a really good deal on the raspberry. I'm sure if I'd paid full price for the Cameleon I would have just kept using it. It's a great pram / buggy.

Is anyone counting kicks yet? What app are you using?

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 25/10/2015 06:43

If I counted kicks I'd be into triple figures. This baby is such a wriggler!! I'm not planning on doing anything that could ramp up my anxiety but I will accept after my losses this is a very paranoid pregnancy for me.

jellypi3 · 25/10/2015 07:24

i'm not counting kicks, i think they advise not to these days. They say try to note your babies pattern, so if baby is active after eating, or in the morning, or in the car, note that down so if it changes you can be aware of it.

birdbrain21 · 25/10/2015 07:29

Rufus I haven't been actually counting with an app as I know that when I'm busy I don't notice the baby moving so don't want to panic myself I just know roughly what times of day I normally feel her move and try to sit down and have a drink at those tikes to check she's okay. I'm sure if you search on your app store there'll be a few apps just read the reviews.

Troika · 25/10/2015 07:45

Envy at the talk of fancy pants prams, mine is a basic graco mirage, now 10 years old. Still, it does the job, is lightweight, easy to fold, fits in my tiny boot, and has a huge shopping basket! No reason to look for anything else really (maybe I should have chucked out all my baby stuff after all Wink

Things I need to get:
Nappi nippas
A few more wraps? (Not sure of the condition of them as my friend has used them since I did)
A baby grow to be her first outfit (I have lots but do want her to have one thing that's just hers)
Baby monitor- not urgent
Cot mattress
Crib mattress
Baby bath or flexi tub (wasn't going to bother but as we have lodgers it makes sense as will be able to bath her in our en suite rather than main bathroom-plus it takes less water to fill than the big bath. Am veering towards flexi tub as will then be able to use it for toy storage once she's bigger)

Think that's it. Oh and the DC want to buy her her first teddy Smile

Rufus not counting kicks but I am aware if she has a quieter time, she's normally kicking a lot so it's unusual for her not to be which means I notice it.

Troika · 25/10/2015 07:50

Oh and car seat. Still undecided. Do they reeeeeaally need replacing after 5 years? I get that the plastic degrades if exposed to sunlight/temperature extremes etc but mine has hardly ever been in a car and it just seems such a waste to send something to landfill that is still in perfect condition. But is it worth the risk? Hmm.

MaisieDotes · 25/10/2015 07:54

troika if it was my own (not second hand) car seat that I knew had never been knocked I would use it. But obviously it's up to oneself.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 25/10/2015 07:58

I'm using DSs baby car seat. It was brand new fours years ago and was only used for about a year or less. I hadn't heard about only using car seats for five years. The manufacturers must live that we are all guilted into throwing away perfectly good seats because of fear.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 25/10/2015 08:47

I used the same Cabriofix for DDs because there was only 2.5 years between them, DD1 is now in DSs Maxi Cosi high backed booster and DD2 is now in DD1s Maxi Cosi seat can't remember the name and its in ExDPs car, but its a toddler seat - even at almost 5 she's still way under the guidelines for height and weight to move to a high backed booster!) However I gave the Cabriofix to a friend when I stopped using it (she used it as a spare to keep at her MILs) so will need to buy a new one.

Pram wise - nothing so far. We want a Stokke Crusi which has a price tag that makes me want to weep, but as its our last baby I kinda want what I want, iyswim?! But we'll be buying it in March - that's the earliest our budget allows and I have a Liberty Sling, so no immediate need for a pram.

CalypsoLilt · 25/10/2015 09:20

troika do you think 20 nappies is enough? check out my stash photo above :) I was given a Britax B-Agile so no new pram for me either, but it is super lush so I don't mind :)

today is my vagina viability day! horray! Halloween Grin

Troika · 25/10/2015 10:17

Calypso, probably. Although you'll need to wash every other day with that lot to begin with so, you know, you might need a few more to cut down on how often you wash Wink

Are the bumgenius and bambooty pockets or all in ones? If pockets you could just get a few extra inserts as the outers take no time at all to dry.

Otherwise I'd say maybe get a couple of terry squares as backup, you can fold them in advance so they take no longer to put on than the shaped and they dry really quickly. The microfibre little lambs will dry quickly too but anything bamboo will take an age! Do you have a tumble dryer? At times when im getting through lots of nappies I sometimes find it less time consuming to wet pail them and then just do a quick wash rather than dry pail and a long wash cycle. Just don't wet pail pockets, wraps or all in ones as they don't like it!

Troika · 25/10/2015 10:18

V day for me too Grin

Rufus200 · 25/10/2015 10:27
