beso that's me today! Bubs has been poking out like mad and I've given up on standing. Sometimes I can't work out how to get up without using muscles that hurt. I feel like I've been beaten up from the inside! Yesterday I felt fine.

Great rufus, thanks!

tired that's wonderful, wonderful news, I'm so pleased for you :)

How your dd is feeling safer till and that the school are sorting it out.

Yes beso! Bump has not stopped moving all day today which is not helping me get back to sleep after DS woke up at 1am for a couple of hours!

Thanks haquoi, it's definitely s relief!

IslaMann · 15/10/2015 07:58

V day for me today, another milestone passed!

MamaBerg · 15/10/2015 08:12

Advice/sympathy please... I've had a cold this week, feeling absolutely fine just an annoying runny nose and bump hurts when I sneeze. Nothing major. Yesterday I was coughing more and belly started feeling bruised because of it, nothing out of the ordinary for me. So here it comes last night about 2am I brought up last nights dinner and now I can't even keep water down. Also coming out the other end too (sorry tmi) so I think I have a tummy bug on top of my cold, boo. I feel ok I just can't keep anything down so have a dehydration headache and dry mouth. What if anything can i take? I know anti-diarrhoea tabs are not allowed, plus I think it would just reappear 10 mins later. TIA x

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 15/10/2015 08:21

mama Nothing that I'm aware of, I'm afraid Sad I had a vile bug last week that lasted 5 days, I was told to just keep drinking and eat plain food. It sucked.

DD is okay-ish. I've now put a face to the boy in question and will keep my beady eye out for him. Parents evening was last night, ExDP and I have been impressed with how they've handled it. Every staff member is aware, from teachers tp pastoral staff, its a one class per year school so easy enough to keep an eye out. DD is quite traumatised - she's a very quiet, sensitive, gentle child and its really rattled her. She's not leaving my side at home and has been sleeping in bed with me, all smushed up to me like when she was a baby. Thankfully they break up for half term next Thurs!

jellypi3 · 15/10/2015 08:24

yay for v-day isla :)

MaisieDotes · 15/10/2015 08:29

Sad mama that's sounds awful.

I haven't a clue what is safe to take but in terms of keeping hydrated and not vomiting, what about ice cubes/ ice chips?

Hope you feel better soon.

haquoi123 · 15/10/2015 08:42

V-day? Sorry if I'm being thick!

mama that sounds awful! I always say this, but ring your gp/midwives, I don't think dehydration is any good (even when not pregnant) and they might have a good solution. Failing that, chemist might also have advice.

I've been having a look at car seats (arrrrgh, it's like starting the pram search all over again!). I want the baby jogger city versa gt pram, but it's not suitable from birth, so the plan was to get a carry cot with it. We were going to get the Joie Stages car seat (£150, but portable and takes the kid to 7 years old from birth!) but just read a luke warm review of it and not sure. Then I saw the kiddy evolution pro 2 which goes to 15 months, it's portable, costs about £150 but also has a lie flat option which means that there are no time restrictions for bubs and we wouldn't need a carry cot. What do you think? Are there more benefits to having a carry cot?

OP posts:
jellypi3 · 15/10/2015 08:56

we got the carry cot with our pram because i figured it's somewhere for the baby to sleep in when she's young if we go to peoples houses etc (we got the icandy one which i think is approved for sleeping). But this is first baby so if we use it or not will be seen!

v-day is viability day (so 24 weeks).

i'm 25 weeks today, feeling very tired all of a sudden. my book says 25 weeks is third tri, which is a scary thought!!

haquoi123 · 15/10/2015 09:06

Congrats isla on V-day!! :) I'll be joining you on Sat (thanks jelly, my mind kept going to v for vagina...)

And also congrats jelly! I can barely move today, my bump is sore, my back is sore, my hips are sore, shall I continue? Baby's getting heavy, I wonder if a growth spurt is in the works.

I've had a look at reviews and everyone loves the seat but there's no hood or protection from the elements at all so I wonder if my money saving bright idea isn't so good after all...

monkerina · 15/10/2015 09:06

Yay to V-day! 2 weeks to go here Smile

Mama, sure I read you're allowed rehydration sachets, just not anti-diarrhoea tablets (had an awful cold followed by bug last week so was researching) so might be worth a trip to the pharmacists unless you've got some in?

Calypso, was it solicitor's yesterday or today? Hope it goes/went well!

NorthernChinchilla · 15/10/2015 09:10

Mama, you can make your own rehydration juice, which is basically very very diluted OJ with a pinch of salt. Ironically, for all its sports claims, the one thing Lucozade (the sports one, not the fizzy) is genuinely good for is rehydration.
Tiny little sips, and hopefully you'll keep it down.

Off to go and celebrate my birthday by getting the odds and sods necessary for DC2!

clarabellski · 15/10/2015 09:10

Yay, congratulations Isla! Cake

And I think we should totally rename it Vagina-Day hacquoi. Or we should have a World Vagina Day! Let's celebrate our amazing bodies and the fact that they can grow an actual human!

Going for a massage later today. Can't wait as lower back/bum are bleh....I've created a wee soft nest in the bed with extra duvets and pillows but I always wake up feeling battered and bruised!

jellypi3 · 15/10/2015 09:13

haha vagina-day, love it Grin

i'm struggling to sleep, my hips hurt me so much. I woke up at one point last night almost crying, the pain is horrid. My midwife said i need to see a physio because she thinks i've got pelvic girdle pain but because we are moving soon she's reluctant to refer me because we are changing nhs trusts!

clarabellski · 15/10/2015 09:16

Hmmm jelly, physio referral can take a while so if you wait until you've moved, you may well have given birth yet by the time the physios in your new area can see you! Can you afford to go and see a private physio for a couple of sessions?

jellypi3 · 15/10/2015 09:17

well i actually get private medical insurance through my company (totally forgot until my boss reminded me yesterday) so i'll try and get a referral from my gp and do it that way

haquoi123 · 15/10/2015 09:55

Definitely up for international vagina day - they are awesome and thoroughly undervalued. Compare it to the penis and you immediately have your winner :)

jelly that's fab! Faster the better.

I've got an osteopath appointment on Friday - it's expensive but so worthwhile and I've definitely done something strange to a muscle in my side :(

Eurgh, tying myself in knots over this carrycot thing and happily ignoring the fact that this is not a day off and I have things to do.

Oh also, blaming the baby for the two-doughnut breakfast just now... :s

Posey01 · 15/10/2015 10:18

Hurrah for Vagina today! I still have a few weeks to go...

Is anyone else not feeling baby?? I have a naughty placenta it seems :(

Posey01 · 15/10/2015 10:19

Oops - I meant Vagina Day! But we can celebrate their awesomeness today and all days hahaha!

madsaz76 · 15/10/2015 10:50

Another vote for bruised bump at times. My arse ache is the worst bit - coccyx tender and I now have a memory foam cushion. I think it's for haemorrhoids but it makes me able to sit down and I am currently wandering round fuerteventura clutching it like it is the most precious thing in the world. I can definitely recommend one.

Bubs also seems to have strong views on my activities. Swimming seems very acceptable, singing high songs on Karaoke gets me a firm kicking. I used to sing semiprofessionally so it's not as if tunes lessness an issue - I think it's if I take a deep breath.

My v day is Monday and I will be home by then. Bump definitely increasing really quickly now and I have Spanish ladies trying to feed me up and touch. Hmm

MaisieDotes · 15/10/2015 11:08

Happy birthday chinchilla ! Smile Cake

haquoi IME things that are meant to do more than one thing tend to do neither job properly. I'm also big on the carrycot aspect of any pram as both my DC had all their daytime naps in the pram up to about 5 or 6 months.

Mawsymoo · 15/10/2015 11:16

haquoi we used our carrycot a lot too. I did lots of walking and then when at home it's where I'd pop him for a nap/to keep him safe downstairs. I didn't bother with a moses basket or crib - just the carrycot downstairs and a full sized cot in our room from day one.

haquoi123 · 15/10/2015 11:49

Thanks maisie and mawsy. We've got a moses basket (a present for ds that never got used) so my reasons for getting a carrycot are less and less. It just feels strange to spend £100 plus on something that I'll only use for 6 months... At the same time, it's still 6 months. You make a very good point maisie about things doing more than one job not doing it very well. Food for thought, thanks.

mad I take kicking as a happy sign. Mainly because bubs kicks when I sing the music I like and is silent when I have to sing the music I hate Wink he also goes mental everytime I do the hypnobirthing relaxations, so much so that I sometimes have to stop and laugh at him before I can go back to concentrating
