I do love the 'oooh, your life will change forever' comments!

Yep, That's. The. Point.

I enjoy having a bump, fairly enjoyed the c-section (skipped down the corridor for it, as much as a be-gowned weeble can), and had a lovely time with the four-five months of maternity leave before DP took over for the second half. Few weeks of slight colic, nothing major. If DD is half as easy it'll be a blast again Smile

No idea at all what I weighed or do now; been lucky in having neither MS or raving hunger, so it's just the usual plus the odd treat and minus the booze (though had a couple of small ones this weekend, and will again this week, it's my birthday in a couple of days!)

calypso, I was the only child of a single parent (totally give my Dad his due though, we had EOW and he paid support, hence a good relationship with him now) and I can count on the fingers of one hand the occasions where I noticed the difference between mine and other families, and this was in a very, very traditional area. The whole thing of 'it doesn't matter, as long as kids are loved and know it' is absolutely true.

Having the week off, so a couple of bimbling days, then off to Bluewater/shops generally to get stuff sorted for DC2. A great way to spend your birthday, but it's the only way we can do a dedicated shop minus DS. Will get lunch out at least, and the deep joy of crossing loads off the 'to-do' list Grin

goneswimming · 13/10/2015 21:07

I've got a horrible cold at the moment and little man has been very quiet...I expect he'll perk back up again when I feel a bit better. In other news, looks like we're moving house in early December. Joy.

Troika · 14/10/2015 06:47

I've put on 7kg, 2kg of it in a week though. Definitely seem to have expanded over the last week, would say bump is more obviously a bump now.

Calypso, another has been single parent here. The worst part is the thought of it, once I'd actually made the decision it was far easier being on my own than in a bad relationship. The DC were fine too, even with their dad being a total tool who pays no maintenance and doesn't see them.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 14/10/2015 07:27

The baby was dancing about so much at 2am this morning he woke me up and then I started laughing as no matter how I laid, he wouldn't stop jumping Grin

My son never moved in the night during my first pregnancy. This one is definitely more active overall.

NorthernChinchilla · 14/10/2015 07:59

This one seems more of a wriggler than her brother; get more of the gloopy, something's shifting about in there feeling, as opposed to kicks/hits.
The best with DS was his hiccoughs; every morning for about a month in late pregnancy he got them at the same time, when I was on the train to work! Continued for the first few days after birth too Grin

Phoenix80 · 14/10/2015 08:00

I've not really checked my weight so far but just had a look what I was at booking in and then just got on the scales and I've put 2kg on. Having gestational diabetes is helping that a lot otherwise I know I would have put loads more on.

CalypsoLilt · 14/10/2015 08:24

thanks chinchilla and troika Flowers my parents divorced when I was 7 and it wasn't the split that messed me up, it was the 10 years of war between them that followed, one of the reasons I left home altogether the summer after my GCSEs.

I do feel like a total plonker for getting knocked up (it was his idea which I eventually bought into) by such a complete bellend, at 33 I really should know better! It's not the life I want for my child, to be fatherless, or to have a narcissistic father (not sure yet whether he will see the baby) but given that I am pregnant, I feel getting rid of him was 100% the right thing to do, for me and the baby. And I'm counting my lucky stars that my friends and family have been ultra supportive Brew

Solicitors tomorrow......eep!

Mawsymoo · 14/10/2015 08:30

I'm only up around 3kg at 25 weeks but my appetite has taken a big jump this week so I'm expecting the weight-gain to start in earnest now! I can't seem to fill myself the last few days.

Mawsymoo · 14/10/2015 08:31

Cross posts with you Calypso - Flowers for you and good luck with the solicitors tomorrow

MaisieDotes · 14/10/2015 08:50

I think I started off at 64 or 65 kg and I'm 71 now.

I suppose it's not toooo bad given that I am 25 weeks today.

If only I had the willpower to reel in the treat-eating in the evenings. Also I didn't go for my usual two walks yesterday or the day before as I'm having an attack of sciatica in my lower left back and down my left leg.

Does anyone have experience of sciatica in pregnancy? Does it come and go or are you stuck with it once you have it?

NorthernChinchilla · 14/10/2015 09:04

I've got it Maisie, though mine is intermittent. Great that it's not all the time, but a tad embarrassing when it stabs and makes you scream in pain. Work are warned, but in other places it can be a bit Blush
I've got a referal from my MW for physio, and am going on Mon, so see if you can get one at your next appointment. I also find the triggers are walking or sitting on hard surfaces.
Sorry to say I got it last time round and it stayed, so it's important to try to get things in place to manage it.

Couldn't agree more calypso- my parents and the two families remained on very good terms, so it was a non issue. Hopefully your ex will remain a part if your DC's life, but if not, it's far better for you to be totally free of him than have him cause aggro. Plus you've got family and friends to support you, that's a big bit of the battle won. And do NOT beat yourself up for finding yourself in the situation you are now- God alone knows lots of people would have chosen different partners in retrospect.
Sounds like you're making the best of it, and good luck tomorrow.

Sighing · 14/10/2015 09:47

Weight .... hmmm. I rarely know how much I weigh, but I feel I've put lots on (I lost in the first trimester). I'll get weighed today and probably try to convince myself it's pregnancy related.
Last night was a proper disco as far as I could tell, right into the early hours - so much that my eldests lack of awareness te. This pregnancy has a new level. She got into bed with me, cuddled up with her hand on my bump (no she hasn't noticed it's a bump). She got a proper hefty kick, I saw the bump move (!). She said nothing. Sigh. And i thought children were observant!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/10/2015 09:56

My DS hasn't noticed the large football on my stomach either...we're going to try to break the news to him this weekendGrin!

MamaBerg · 14/10/2015 10:02

I've put on 3 kg so far but I had plenty to spare to begin with! Lost my appetite completely in the first trimester and I have a stomach issue that prevents me eating too much in one go so I'm not surprised or worried about my weight just now.

Calypso fingers crossed you get some useful advice tomorrow

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 14/10/2015 12:34

ExDP and I get on well. He came to school at 9am this morning - DD1 had a total breakdown last night at 10pm - I heard her crying in her room - she was shaking and sobbing and she told me a Y6 boy (so, 11) has been following her, creeping up on her, screaming in her face, shoving her, throw ingredients stuff at her... She's 7. And tiny. I was up all night with her in my bed, I bawled my eyes out for hours. I'm furious that some little shit has had his hands on my child Angry Sad ExDP came in to school with me, they're dealing with it very well, and DD felt safe enough to stay. Its currently lunch time and I am very jittery, I just want to go up there and throttle the fucker. However I shall be an Adult and let school deal with it or send 5'6 DSS to give him a shove

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 14/10/2015 12:36

Throwing stuff* gah

MaryEllen1 · 14/10/2015 13:07

That's terrible arrow and glad the school have acted swiftly and are dealing with it, your poor DD and you for having to deal with it.

Sighing · 14/10/2015 17:27

That's terrible! Glad the school are taking action.
Scan. Went well. Telling the DD's went well. Youngest has already read to baby and they've sent an email to granny of themselves wearing their 'I'm going to be a big sister (again)' t-shirts. They are slightly flustered that it'll be a baby brother. But very bouncy and keen to phone EVERYONE.
Grin

MaisieDotes · 14/10/2015 17:33

Thanks chinchilla . It's not as bad today. Walking seems to have no effect but if I sit in the sofa it destroys me completely.

I did some exercises this morning so maybe they helped too. I was looking on Amazon for bump bands but I haven't a clue which one to go for Confused

tillI your poor DD Sad

Sighing · 14/10/2015 17:39

maisie i used a bump band when I was pregnant with DD1 & 2 I used the really tough ones (low on hips, velcro adjustment with elastic strap over the top of the bump). It really helped my back particularly.

RattyCatty · 14/10/2015 18:00

Just had 24 week app with my GP. He couldn't find heartbeat with Doppler but told me not to worry beforehand if he couldn't. She was moving around though and still is so presuming that's ok? GPs aren't midwives after all?!

I was 60kg before pregnancy & last week was nearly 67kg so 7kg on so far. Do you put the most on in the last bit? If so I think I'll def go over the recommended 12-15kg...

MaisieDotes · 14/10/2015 18:33

Oh thanks sighing I saw those ones, they do look a bit more industrial than the Lycra ones so probably what I need!

Tiredoftiredness · 14/10/2015 19:16

Hi everyone, not been on for ages I'm afraid! Loving all the bump pics, and busily trying to ignore how much weight I've put on ..last time I was weighed it was about half a ston and that was a couple of weeks ago now - must learn to step away from the cake!

Had my consultant scan today where she checked placental blood flow and all looking really good, which apparently means my risk of getting early onset preeclampsia again falls-yay!

Rufus200 · 14/10/2015 20:49

I'm loving the gap maternity tanks, really soft and comfortable and good length. Normally just under £10 a tank but they have 25% off if you buy 3 then if you use the 30% off code, 30GAP it stacks the discounts so cost just over £5 a tank. Code works on all new stock including baby till tomorrow.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 14/10/2015 21:27

Does anyone else get days when their bump feels pretty tender, almost bruised. The baby has been kicking like mad today and ive found myself huffing and puffing and just 'feeling' very pregnant. Other days I don't feel particularly pregnant at all.
