Well the scan was very intresting. Had a young lady who was training do it under supervision. She could hardly get measurements of anything she needed to! Her supervisor took over in the end but she couldn't get baby to shift either. Everything looked good but couldn't get the measurements needed to sign off on things. Back on the 3rd November for a rescan at 22+6. Hopefully will be able to get some pictures then as none of the images they did get were remotely baby like so didn't bother this time.

The only thing they could tell us for certain is that baby is a boy! It was the only thing he'd let them see for certain. Although don't think we're going to tell anyone until after the next scan, just to be certain. Dd might blab before then once she's told, but baby is going to remain bump until his here. Quite excited about getting some beautiful yarn I've been looking at to make a little blanket, beautiful blue it is then.

RhubarbAndMustard · 07/10/2015 16:17

Congrats dobby! A beautiful boy. Is that what you thought you were having? Are you craving savoury more than sweet? I can't remember if you heard the heartbeat at 16 weeks but if so was it less than 140? I'm interested to see if there's any truth in these old wives tales Smile.

ThePug · 07/10/2015 16:20

Congratulations dobby You clearly have a (shy) exhibitionist on your hands Wink And yes, as Rhubarb says - were the indications previously boy or girl? Those of us with still weeks to wait til our scans need more fuel for our speculating!

Rosieblossom123 · 07/10/2015 16:28

dobby I had an early scan at 9 weeks and after I had some swabs taken by a trainee and she was so bad at it, I was in so much pain and it took her 3 times to find my cervix so since that day on my maternity notes it says that I don't want any trainees I know it sounds harsh but I'm a ftm and nervous as it is! But at least they told you the sex which is amazing :) congratulations! Flowers Oh and you get to see your little man again :)

hayleycookie · 07/10/2015 16:32

Congratulations Dobby! Do you have any boy names in the pipeline or were you waiting to find the sex to start discussing options? How lovely to finally know and be able to buy non crappy unisex clothes!

BeautifulLiar · 07/10/2015 16:40

Congrats Dobby! Boys clothes are sooo much nicer than 7 years ago.

Not sure how to deal with the tiredness... haven't felt like this for a long time. I know I'm singlehandedly looking after three children and growing their sibling, but I normally have so much energy. I'm struggling to do the bare minimum and nearly falling asleep while driving. I have very early nights. Also breathless so now wondering about anaemia?? How do I find out? Hate the tablets though!

ThePug · 07/10/2015 16:51

Beautiful an iron count should have been part of the blood test done at your booking in appointment. Do you have the results from that? Of course it might have changed since then, so worth speaking to your mw who may want to repeat it. I've been on iron tablets for about 3 years; some people just need an extra boost to get back up to normal levels and then their bodies maintain it but I seem to have to keep taking them otherwise my levels plummet. Are you getting mouth ulcers? Those are my biggest symptom - if I run out of tablets and miss a few days my mouth quickly knows about it!

MyNameIsSuz · 07/10/2015 17:04

Congratulations on all the lovely scans! I'm also waiting to find out to pick yarn for my blanket dobby Smile

Here's my bump pic, 18 weeks tomorrow. It's a weird shape, not properly round unless I am breathing out, think the baby is still very low - I'm getting lost of movements and they're all at about where my pants come up to (not sure how else to explain!). It's definitely got harder today though.

Trinpy · 07/10/2015 17:24

Great news on the scan dobby! And it's nice that you'll get a chance to see the baby again at the rescan (when hopefully he will behave!). Boys are lovely too Smile.

julesldn · 07/10/2015 17:28

Thanks guys! All was good in the end - she was just doing it to be certain measurements on the face were O.K :) only bought 2 pics (£3 each) but she gave me 5. Feel like it is steep but then it's the only thing you really pay for throughout so don't mind too much. Also spent £3.50 on a sandwich today to put it into perspective haha. £15 is ridiculous though ThePug! I'd want a frame with that!! Wink

Yay dobby a boy!!! I'm also curious about your cravings/sickness etc to see if anything is accurate!

Such a miserable rainy day in London today - feeling a bit poorly too but think it might just be the weather. Meh, winter!

BeautifulLiar · 07/10/2015 17:59

After booking in I had slightly low iron levels I think she said, but nothing to write home about. Actually touch wood I haven't had ulcers! I normally get them when my period is due, ugh they're evil.

Me624 · 07/10/2015 18:12

Congrats on your scan dobby, it's so exciting that you know you're having a boy! I hope mine co-operates at the scan, because mine is the last appointment of the day there won't be much time to walk around/have a coffee etc if it doesn't so I suspect I'll have to go back if they can't get the measurements first time. It did cooperate beautifully at the 12 week one so fingers crossed!

Beautiful I was severely anaemic when ttc (it was only when that was eventually diagnosed and sorted after over a year of trying that we finally got our bfp) and I wasn't that tired with it, though I'd been anaemic for so long I think my body had sort of adjusted. My biggest symptoms were breathlessness when climbing stairs or any slight incline and spells of feeling lightheaded and dizzy, usually several times a week. If you're concerned I'd definitely ask for another blood test at your next midwife appointment.

BeautifulLiar · 07/10/2015 18:18

I'm definitely breathless, was out of breath climbing a few stairs in a cafe today! I hope I am in a way; not sure I can cope with another 5 months of being this lethargic! Thanks Me.

IndomitabIe · 07/10/2015 18:30

Hello! Great news on the scans dobby and jules!

I suspected I was a but anaemia a while back, beautiful, and got on the Spatone in addition to the multivitamins. It coincided with me feeling better.

The Spatone is really easy to take too. I recommend it. We found it in waitrose.

My dungarees have arrived! And they fit (well, they're a tiny bit big). The denim is soft, the legs are long enough, they don't fall down! Ah, I'll be the grunge/farmer looking one till March then! (DS said straight away: "you look like a farmer, Mummy!") Thoroughly recommend them!

Love the bump pics. Mine feels huge, but doesn't photograph well. If I can take one I'm not utterly ashamed of I'll join in.

dobbythedoggy · 07/10/2015 18:45

Dh is thrilled, although we both would have been either way, but throught it was the boy as the movement has been so diffrent from when I was pregnant with dd.

Pleasantly suprised by baby being a boy. If I had a inkling either way I'd have said girl as sickness was so bad. But that must just be how my body reacts to pregnancy.

Craving wise, I want salty AND sweet, anything carby, strangly appart from pasta. Ice cream is a firm favourate when I can't face anything else.

We heard the heart beat at 16 weeks, sounded like a galoping horse, but don't know the rate.

Carried high with dd right from the start and his definantly low down. Tempted to try the wedding ring test. A very lovely french lady insisted on doing it when I was heavily pregnant with dd and didn't know and was delighted when she found out she was right.

Name wise it's good we've got the warning as it's going to take us ages to find one we agree on. Had lots of possablities for a girl that we both liked. So far we know what we both don't like. Although I don't think we'll actually agree on anything until after his born, naming an unborn baby feels strange to me!

sherazade · 07/10/2015 19:20

congrats dobby! lovely news!

vroc81 · 07/10/2015 20:14

Congrats on your scan Dobby!! Can't wait for mine now.. Two weeks tmrw!

marmitemofo · 07/10/2015 21:58

Congrats dobby! So exciting that the 20 week scans are starting! 13 days till mine Grin

BeautifulLiar · 08/10/2015 06:42

Also 13 days until mine!

Forgot to say yesterday, the bumps are gorgeous! One of the pros of pregnancy, I have to say Grin

Missikat · 08/10/2015 08:17

Congrats Dobby on your little boy. Boys are awesome! And congrats Jules, glad all went well.

Loving all the bumps ladies, amazing how different they all are!

Here's mine from today, 18+3. Not as neat as many if yours but then again a lot is tummy flab rather than bump! I did the wedding ring test last night, it went in circles, is that boy or girl as both seem to come up on dr google! We're not finding out so it's good to keep guessing.

QforCucumber · 08/10/2015 09:26

Oh how exciting dobby
Looks like there are loads of us on the 21st for scans -it's my mum's 50th that day so really hope all is well as a picture in her card will be a lovely gift. Our hospital charges £3 per picture.
Regarding the anaemia it's definitely worth getting checked, I was severely anaemic after my miscarriage - but had lost 1.7 litres of blood, was on super strong iron tablets for weeks and could definitely tell when I came off them. I always have a multi vitamin with iron in now.
Bought a little tiny soft giraffe teddy yesterday - I love giraffes and just couldn't resist. Keep looking at it on my bedside tabe and smiling, getting exciting now - 18 weeks today and so have 17 full weeks left at work (technically 15 as off for 2 over xmas)

TriJo · 08/10/2015 10:39

Had my 16 week appointment there (@16+4) - everything went well. Got to hear baby's heartbeat again which was quite nice :)

BeautifulLiar · 08/10/2015 11:04

Great news TriJo - it's a gorgeous sound isn't it?! :)

Rosieblossom123 · 08/10/2015 11:59

I'm getting so excited now about my scan one week tomorrow! Just wanna know if squishy's a boy or a girl Grin

MyNameIsSuz · 08/10/2015 16:11

I'm the same Rosie, mine's a week on Tuesday and I'm getting excited. Did have a big wobble a few days ago when I panicked that it would be bad news, but I'm feeling positive again.
