Thanks marmite I just don't want baby to have a problem where people can't spell or pronounce his or her name :( To be honest same here I had enough of work and this week has been so painful and so busy! bring on maternity leave :)

dobbythedoggy · 01/10/2015 09:57

20 week scan for me is the 7th October, next Wednesday eek! Almost half way there for me.

Could actually see baby moving last night so dh was right he could feel kicks at the start of the week. Very weaid seeing my stomach do that, never did with dd. Dh thinks we're having a boy this time since dd was never anywhere near this active.

BeautifulLiar · 01/10/2015 10:01

Crispy ok ok, I admit!

No it is me. Funny how I'm still so self conscious though! Really hope this baby isnt the one who finally destroys my stomach...

This reminds me of a Simpsons episode where the family are watching an odd video of some young women dancing around in bikinis. When one of them says "There's something not right about this video..." Marge replies in a rather disgruntled tone "Not one of those women has had three children, that's for sure!" Anyway, as you were...

Ooh Crispy I'm glad you've said you're picking that up... i may have just bid on a Next 2 me crib AND a Mamroo swing on ebay Blush sorry DH!!

Oh Rosie I love ancient Greece. 300 is one of my fave films!!

Rosieblossom123 · 01/10/2015 10:13

Beautiful I love 300 and we're watching Spartacus at the moment on Netflix, three words to describe it 'Blood and Porn' haha

How much is the mamaroo on Ebay I'm still saving up for it might just buy it from very on my account?

BeautifulLiar · 01/10/2015 10:20

Oh DH would enjoy that!! Haha. He's always at the business end of childbirth... "blood doesn't bother me" he says. Hmm yeh really hope I don't poo this time!! Ha.

I did think of getting it on Littlewoods/Very but I don't like the idea of paying for it after the birth and even after the baby's using it IYSWIM? On eBay they seem to go for around 160 - 180 ish. I'm bidding on the ones with boxes etc.

BeautifulLiar · 01/10/2015 10:21

Also Rosie we have to buy a newborn insert with it I think?! And they're like £30!

Rosieblossom123 · 01/10/2015 10:28

Beautiful He would prob love that haha I'm so scared of doing that while giving birth maybe I won't care as I will be in so much pain? ha

I don't want to use Very because of the interest is ridiculous! I know we need a newborn insert but I found out something amazing we could buy instead at least it's not £30 for one thing, have a look!!

Rosieblossom123 · 01/10/2015 10:33

Oh and Amazon have a baby and toddler event between 1-5 October! Another excuse to spend money Grin

BeautifulLiar · 01/10/2015 11:06

Oh I pooed myself twice (births 1 and 2) and even though I was in agony I was still gutted!! The midwives clean it up SO fast though.

Ooh I'll have a look at that link in a sec. My Amazon basket is full of the kids Christmas presents... going to order them next week, can't wait!

vroc81 · 01/10/2015 11:36

My midwife friend reliably informed my rather cocky friends who all said they hadn't pooed that they all most likely had as 8 out of 10 people do and it's just a good midwife that has it gone before you know... That said it just grims me out a bit in the list of things you don't really want to know!

I'm trying not to buy anything until the 20 week scan but bought a couple of bits in the debenhams sale and keep following all your links and suggestions is making it hard to resist.. For those who aren't first timers and may have experienced a Christmas pregnant how worth is it holding out for the January sales for the big items?

Paperblank · 01/10/2015 12:28

Admit it Beautiful the only reason you like "300" is because of Gerard Butler in his pants.

I did not watch that film just to see Gerard Butler in pants. Oh wait...yes I did

DH wants a digital ear thermometer for the baby. He will not be persuaded against it as he is convinced that they are the business. Tesco have the Tommee Tippee ones and they are £24.99. I just know I will get home from work and he will be taking my temperature...

Argh! I wrote a reply on here earlier, pressed 'post' and went off to do something else - just realised it never sent. It's still trying to send on another tab as I'm typing this so it might randomly appear later!

I would say its definitely worth waiting for the January sales for the big stuff. I said about the nursery set I got for ds on the last thread. It was selling at half price on several websites in Jan sales. In the end I bought from homebase (I think it was?) because they had an additional something% off all items over Jan and Feb to boost post Xmas sales. I also got lots of baby and toddler stuff cheaply on the last Amazon black Friday sale, so I'll be doing the same this year.

And Yy to the pooing in labour happening to most women. You just have to hope your mw is speedy about getting rid of the evidence and doesn't leave it lying there on an inco sheet for ages while you slowly die of shame Blush.

MotherKat · 01/10/2015 12:44

I feel so huge, I'm only 14 weeks and already in maternity wear, my bump is enormous, I wasn't a slender person before but now I feel like a hippopotamus, when people ask when I'm due and I tell them March their eyes bug out, I've taken to wearing my twins on board tube badge everywhere so people aren't so surprised.

marmitemofo · 01/10/2015 12:46

I poo'd during labour. My midwife was awful about it. She cleaned it up but I remember her having a really disgusted look on her face. She was actually just awful though. I was in long enough to experience 5 midwives and four of them were so nice and supportive but she was a complete bitch. When they said they were gonna transfer me to the delivery unit I was so relieved I'd be getting rid of her! Anyway, so I was a bit mortified even though it's completely normal/natural. Sometimes I think about how DP saw me poo and feel so embarrassed Blush but there's really nothing you can do about it!

January sales are a good idea, can't believe i hadnt thought of that. DD was born in November so I wasn't pregnant over the winter last time. Not that DP is going to let me buy much anyway!

Re: ear thermometers. We got one, but not a branded one so was less than a tenner from Amazon. It works fine and is easy to use. They are notorious for being unreliable but I found I just double checked each ear twice to check the temperature and its always been pretty consistent.

BeautifulLiar · 01/10/2015 13:14

Paper I don't do beards so that's honestly not the reason!! Is anyone watching Dr. Foster btw? Don't you think her cheating husband look like Gerard Butler? I keep crying when I watch it though... my worst nightmare would be an affair!

I've never had a thermometer for the DC but the locum GP told me off so I'm getting one from Amazon (about a tenner).

Marmite that's awful! Why be a midwife if you can't deal with shite?! I was on all fours leaning over the sofa when I crapped myself - and I'd eaten a chicken curry BlushBlush DH was so cute about it though, he didn't even mention it for years...

ffauxlivia · 01/10/2015 16:43

Waaaaah pooing! Anything else need to warn hubby about?!

Beautiful you ARE beautiful! Wow stunning pic! Supremely jealous here!

I'm miserable this week as I have shingles, oh the pain Sad Had a horrible experience - went to GP who looked it up on her screen and put her hand on my hand saying things like 'I'm so sorry' and about how it transmits to fetus and is dangerous. As I was a total mess she sent me straight to my OB (I'm in US) who was much better and told me he has never experienced that happening and the risks are v low. Later found out via NHS that it really should be nothing to worry about - so a whole load of unnecessary stress! Still, feel nervous about 20 week scan now as can't shake the thought. Especially as I had slightly elevated TSH in first trimester that they didn't want to treat, even though advice online is to treat it.

Is anyone else just super nervous all the time? I just find it really hard to visualise 6 months from now and everything being okay. Maybe it's cos it's my first and I'm naturally anxious anyway. Sorry for the moan!

But anyway heard the heartbeat yesterday at 15 weeks so I know she's okay right now, so have to try and relax!

PS Atticus is awesome! Saw To Kill a Mockingbird in Theatre last night and Atticus is one cool dude!

Rosieblossom123 · 01/10/2015 16:53

ffaux Oh hun I hope you're a bit relieved now! I'm quick a stressy person which doesn't help, dp gets so frustrated! After our 12 week scan when we saw baby and it was dancing in there I was still worried after, I think I need to learn to accept that everything is okay, maybe it's because my previous mc don't know! Yeah I'm quiet set on Atticus, hurry up 16th October I want to stop calling my baby 'It' haha

Trinpy · 01/10/2015 16:57

Poor you ffaux, how worrying. Having shingles isn't much fun anyway, without the added stress. I do worry a lot that something will go wrong with the pregnancy or the baby. I dreamt the other night that I lost the baby. Something happened at work recently involving a pregnant woman who was the same number of weeks as me. It was quite traumatic and its really got to me Sad.

ffauxlivia · 01/10/2015 17:00

thanks rosie! Yeah I had previous mc too so that def doesn't help, though it was a way earlier stage than this, I think I am just not happy until I find something to worry about, which is messed up really.

Aw 16th isn't long to wait! It is much easier when you know the sex, though we are completely fighting about girls' names already!

ffauxlivia · 01/10/2015 17:02

thanks trinpy Oh that's awful, it's so hard to distance yourself from that kind of thing when everything is so emotional right now. Hope she and you are both okay x

ffauxlivia · 01/10/2015 17:06

sorry I feel like I've rather dragged the mood down. Let's go back to poo :) On a more positive note I think I had a dreamgasm last night - don't they happen in pregnancy? I was so embarrassed that I might have woken DH up with it lol

Me624 · 01/10/2015 18:07

ffaux I get them occasionally, always have even when I wasn't pregnant! Quite nice to wake up to Blush

However lately I keep having very unpleasant recurring dreams involving HUGE spiders. Like, the size of cats. I'm scared of spiders though I've always managed to deal with them (normally by vacuuming them up, which isn't very in keeping with my vegetarian ways but I honestly can't do the catch them in a glass thing) but these dreams are just something else, I wake up in a cold sweat! Seems to be happening about once a week, including last night Sad

Other than that all is well here and my bleeding gums issue seems to have stopped, phew!

Paperblank · 01/10/2015 19:57

ffaux you poor sausage. Shingles is horrible Sad. Hope you don't feel too rubbish with it ((hug))

Been to see my consultant today so heard the baby's heartbeat again (still sounds like a train to me) had blood tests and they ambushed me and gave me the flu jab!

Decided to crawl into bed and have an early night and hoping that my cold buggers off. I am not in the mood for it.

Me too Pug! Mine are pretty much the same size (though I've had to go up a back size) but they feel... heavier. Not rock hard but more solid and weighty than normal.

Also 17 weeks today and have been feeling little bits of movement, I think, it's so slight it's hard to tell. Starting to get heartburn again, I had it so badly last time I spent the last few months existing on ten tiny meals a day and constantly swigging gaviscon from the bottle Sad I thought I'd have a couple more months before it kicked in!
