Toni At the moment I'm swimming one coached session (with my triathlon club) and 1-2 other swims a week during the public lane swimming times at my local pool. I just paid for another 8 weeks of coached sessions and that means I'll be doing them up until 27 weeks. Both my coached sessions and my own swims follow a similar pattern - easy warm-up swim to get things moving, some technique drills, a main set and a cool down. I've noticed that during pregnancy it takes me longer to feel really warmed up, but that I'm still holding pace pretty well on longer intervals later on in the set. Can't tumble turn since around 16 weeks because of the bump though.

TheMshipIsBack · 21/10/2015 15:16

rhubarb I'm a little over 5'7" (but not enough to call myself 5'8") and I need to use a 75cm ball. The 65cm one is too short for me. It's more about the length of your legs than your total height. When you sit on one, you want your hips above your knees by an inch or two so that it's easy to get up again. If you find it's a big effort to get from sitting to standing when the ball is fully inflated, it's too small.

I second (third? fourth?) that pregnancy yoga is fun and gentle. No idea if it really helps with the birth but it's a nice way to meet other (mostly first time) mums. I enjoyed it quite a bit when pregnant with DS. Not going to do it this time as I'm focusing on my back and walking is the best exercise for that.

ThePug · 21/10/2015 15:32

Thanks for all the yoga recommendations! I live in a city but annoyingly all the (5 or 6!) classes I can find are either out of town or in areas where parking is a nightmare so the stress of driving/parking will totally outweigh the relaxation of the class! I have found an antenatal Pilates class though which sounds great, so have emailed for more details.

Plenty of flutters but no more thuds since last night so far today Sad

RhubarbAndMustard · 21/10/2015 15:32

That's interesting Mship. I'm the same height as you, so will probably go for the bigger one. Thanks!

TheMshipIsBack · 21/10/2015 15:56

Np rhubarb - get one locally if you can so it's easy to return or try one out, it's quite a personal preference thing! Actually thinking about it, lots of pregnancy yoga classes use the balls, so if you do a trial on one of those, you could also see which ball size suits you best.

(I can't believe I'm talking about ball size ... I keep snickering.... )

maybebabybee · 21/10/2015 15:58

any reccommendations for prenatal yoga in or around Islington anyone? :)

hayleycookie · 21/10/2015 16:35

I'm back, and firmly seated on team Blue!! Baby measures perfectly for his age and was a proper wiggler :) So lovely to be able to refer to him as a 'him' now. Absolutely stuck for names though :/ Not a single one we both like and agree on. My husband had already picked DS's name before he even met me, so we've never had to consider a boys name. Good job we have another 20 weeks to think about it!

RhubarbAndMustard · 21/10/2015 16:56

Congrats Hayley that's lovely news Grin

ThePug · 21/10/2015 17:06

Congrats hayley So not a girl then despite you feeling different to your last pregnancy and your bump being up high!

Mship You shall now be remembered as 'the one who sizes up balls' Grin

TriJo · 21/10/2015 17:15

maybe The one I tried was Yogita London in the basement of St Mary's church on Upper Street - most of their times are quite work friendly.

TheMshipIsBack · 21/10/2015 17:52

ThePug better than a ball buster (burster??)!

Rosieblossom123 · 21/10/2015 18:22

So I just had my scan and baby was so naughty at the beginning so I was asked to empty my bladder and walk for a bit, I came back and baby had its legs wide open and it's a GIRL :) so happy couldn't believe it, wouldn't stop flashing us the whole time and when we tried to take a 3d picture of her face she hid it with her arms! That's when I thought this girl is trouble already haha

ThePug · 21/10/2015 18:27

Wahooo finally Rosie Congratulations! When your little girl is 16 and getting boyfriends you can politely remind her that she should be keeping her legs shut like she always used to Wink

Paperblank · 21/10/2015 18:30

Fnar fnar @ Pug!! Thank goodness your little GIRL decided to behave Rosie Smile

Rosieblossom123 · 21/10/2015 18:34

thepug there will be no boyfriends at 16 haha dp decided she's not allowed to date until she's 30. Haha she's the first girl in his family, I sort of feel sorry for her already Wink

Missdee2014 · 21/10/2015 18:35

You lot are such a chatty bunch! I disappear for a few days at a time and come back to pages and pages to catch up on. Fab news on all the scans, Rosie you're defo going to have your hands full with this one!

I was back at consultant today and been put on meds for my BP. Back to hospital to be checked again on Friday then to go fortnightly between midwife and consultant from then on in. Also to go for growth scans from 28 weeks as the tablets they've put me on can cause baby to be a little on the small side. Also looks like I've got a urine infection! Aaaarregghh! Why do we do this?! Lol On the positive, scan on Tuesday and then from 28 weeks we'll get to see baby every 2/3 weeks Smile

Rosieblossom123 · 21/10/2015 19:09

Thanks paper I was so scared to be honest I thought if we don't find out today that's it it'll have to be a surprise lol

Miss definitely going to have my hands full haha cheeky monkey she is!! You just said it on the plus side you'll be seeing your baby wiggle around ever 3 weeks where's i won't get to see baby until she's born :( hurry up 6th March haha

IndomitabIe · 21/10/2015 19:31

Congrats on the scans Q, Rosie & Hayley!

Ah, TriJo, the name makes sense now!

Tonideanna I haven't weighed myself, and probably will try to avoid it completely. I'm a size 10 still, that'll do (except in the belly region, of course!).

I'm eating largely normal meals (I'm not as healthy as most!) - cereal for breakfast, leftovers for lunch, proper cooked largely vegetable based dinner. But then add in crisps, yoghurt, rocky bars and cereal bars (and choc digestives right now!) in between.

My yoga class was a normal one, the only prenatal stuff round here is during the day Monday-Friday. This was definitely a work-out, I could feel it in my arms today! My plan is to keep going as long as poss and then go back as soon as poss after birth!

Paperblank · 21/10/2015 20:05

I'm going against the grain as I'm still losing weight - to get fair I was a fatty before I fell pregnant but I am starting to get a little worried.

So far I've lost 8kg from my booking in weight - I'm not dieting I just have no appetite at all and keep nibbling throughout the day because I need to keep my blood sugar stable.

We've had salmon fishcakes for tea. I've eaten less than half and I've forced that down - one more mouthful and it'll be coming back up.

The consultant didn't seem that bothered when I saw her last...so am I being a dickhead and worrying about nothing?

BeautifulLiar · 21/10/2015 20:19

Congrats Rosie!! See I knew you were having a girl :)

My scan went well, she is a girl and she's all healthy. Just keep thinking we're so lucky to have four healthy children, you know? :)

docmcstuffins1 · 21/10/2015 20:25

Had my scan today too - another one for team blue!!! Grin He's absolutely perfect!

Rosieblossom123 · 21/10/2015 20:25

Beautiful I was going to say that earlier but didn't want to freak you out haha I thought of you when I found out and thought to myself that you kept saying you thought I was having a girl :) heart beat theory defo didn't work! Defo hun when dp was angry the first time I told hun be grateful that baby is healthy sex doesn't matter, all what matters is baby's health.

BeautifulLiar · 21/10/2015 20:37

Haha aww that's so sweet you thought of me. I just knew it with the sickness though!

Doc congratulations on your little boy!! It's so amazing seeing the little face isn't it?
