thepug I would strongly recommend doing some pregnancy yoga or pilates! It is recommended as is supposed to help with birth and recovery. I didn't do yoga in my last pregnancy and a) had a difficult birth and b) my recovery was slow - I lost weight but my muscle tone and core strength has been awful! Obviously I'm just one person but I really wish with DD I had done yoga in pregnancy - I did general exercise, and some pregnancy aerobic stuff, but not yoga, and DD's positioning was awful (back to back). Yoga etc is supposed to help with positioning. Oh, and I didn't really do yoga pre-pregnancy either! had literally just started a yoga class about four weeks before getting my BFP!

maybebabybee · 21/10/2015 09:49

I was also thinking about starting to do some proper exercise this morning...going to sign up for pregnancy yoga assuming all is ok with my scan tomorrow :)

Need to swim too but I have big boobs (GG cups now) and I can't find a maternity swimming costume with the right cup size. Any tips from other larger busted ladies?

RhubarbAndMustard · 21/10/2015 09:50

Can anyone give advice on birthing balls? What do the different sizes mean - I'm quite tall so will I need a larger one? I can't really go to a yoga class yet as have no childcare in the evenings, but want to try a ball this time round to hopefully prevent back to back again.

hayleycookie · 21/10/2015 09:53

It's scan day!! Was up and down all night worrying about it, but not really sure why. DH and I have both caught DS's cold, so he's stayed home today instead of just going in after the scan, yay!

My bump is higher than my previous pregnancy, and TOTALLY different from before. That makes me kind of think this one may be a girl, but I have a nudging thought that it could be a boy and he's just trying to throw me off the scent. I can't believe how may uncooperative babies we're having on this thread! Have given my bump a talking to and asked for open legs today.

Good luck everyone!

Rosieblossom123 · 21/10/2015 09:56

Aw Q such a cutie :)

BeautifulLiar · 21/10/2015 09:57

Woohoo DH can make it!!

Rhubarb - I had a £5 gym ball from Argos and I'd buy it again. At 36 weeks DD1 was back to back (said the midwife after palpaption) so I went and bought one as Argos was next to the clinic and I was terrified I wouldn't manage the home birth. She turned :)

Hayley yay!!! When is yours again? I've been up in the night too. I had a nightmare that a terrorist tried to kill me with scissors :( he had a huge gun in his other hand though so not sure why he went for the scissors, but hey ho!

BeautifulLiar · 21/10/2015 09:58

Palpation*

hayleycookie · 21/10/2015 10:01

Beautiful that made me laugh!!!! You and your dreams are a hot topic on this thread I think haha! My scan is at 10.55, so we'll probably leave home in about half hour, EEK! Casually sipping water and totally not watching the minutes go by....nope....not me......

TriJo · 21/10/2015 10:05

maybebabybee Same problems here regarding maternity swimwear (I'm up to a 30J or 32HH), including one rather funny conversation with the Jojo Maman Bebe live chat where they worked out that I needed size 18 tops and size 8-10 bottoms... It boggles my mind why most maternity retailers don't do separates and why sports brands (Zoggs etc) insist on using a deep U-shaped back for maternity swimwear which is terrible for ladies who are larger up top!

If you're confident enough to let your bump hang out then cup-sized bikinis from Bravissimo/Figleaves (etc) and up 1-2 sizes in the bottoms would probably be one of the better options. I've got maybe two weeks left in my sized-up Speedo and I don't think going up another size would suit because it would just leave the neckline too low.

Re pregnancy yoga - I did a class at 15 weeks and found it a little too easy, but had struggled with getting enough adjustments in at the ashtanga class I like the last time I went to that (at 11 weeks). I'll go back in around December I think when I'm bigger and more ready for a slower paced class. I also totally wasn't ready for the use of a birth story for savasana! Shock

LCR77 · 21/10/2015 10:07

Had anterior last time and didn't cause any probs apart from not feeling much movement. Also did pregnancy yoga and just started again. Don't normally do exercise classes but they are quite gentle so good for people of all fitness levels. I loved it and while it became redundant on the labour ward as I had EMCS, the chance to have a once a week focus on the baby and relaxation was brilliant. Best part was meeting someone who is now a close mum pal. And we're both pregnant again with due dates a week apart and going to yoga together again. Would highly recommend if there's a class close by.

maybebabybee · 21/10/2015 10:23

Trijo I know, it's so annoying! I have thought about bikinis (no shame about massive belly Smile) but I find it really hard to do proper lane swimming in them...I guess I'll just have to find a good supportive one.

MyNameIsSuz · 21/10/2015 10:26

I had that same problem last time maybe and trijo, and I'm not even super busty at 30g. I bought a regular maternity tankini and wore a bikini top underneath. Not ideal but better than nothing! Now if I only knew what I'd done with it...

QforCucumber · 21/10/2015 10:27

Thanks all and good luck to all of you with scans today.

She zoomed right in on the face to check for cleft lip and it was so strange, laid there with its mouth open and kept frowning like it was annoyed haha. Struggled to get the picture as baby kept looking at the probe, took ages to get a side profile.

I've done no exercise at all during pregnancy, had started couch25k about 3 weeks before getting bfp so didn't want to continue that just in case.

maybebabybee · 21/10/2015 10:29

I was a 32G before pregnancy and now I am a 36GG which seems ridiculous - feel like my ribs are being pushed out so my back is getting wider but my actual breasts aren't that much bigger. V bizarre.

TriJo · 21/10/2015 11:01

I'm the opposite really - I was a 30FF before and haven't gone up much in the ribs at all yet, still wearing 30 and some 32 bands, but am up 5 cup sizes at 18+3. Fairly decent sized bump for this stage too so maybe I'm just destined to be very front and centre!

Just thinking there I've swam quite a bit in triathlon races in a Shock Absorber sports bra, might not be the worst idea to try using that and my tri shorts in the pool either...

BeautifulLiar · 21/10/2015 12:15

Oh cucumber that's lovely! Can't wait to see my baby's face. Just bought her an outfit, a blanket and some bibs... I NEED TO STOP SPENDING! it's ridiculous.

Haha yeh Hayley I think my dreams are quite infamous now Blush god I woke up drenched in sweat and everything!! Your scan will be done now, looking forward to your update :)

Trinpy · 21/10/2015 12:22

Poor dd has still got a stinking cold, which I'm really hoping to avoid... she's already given it to dh. She's really grummpy and whingy which has really hit us hard as she's usually a sunshine girl, so she must be feel rotten. As she wasn't up to helping my with the shopping yesterday I got lots of time to wonder the chilled food and found a pasturised blue cheese brie. Lidl have a few diffirent ones into chose from at the moment for 85p.

In 2012 I got a decent maternity tanknie with appropriate size top and bottoms sold seperatly from Glow (a north devon baby store) who I think do online orders. Might be worth looking at. I need to look that one out and see if it fits this time around as I droped a couple of dress sizes when I had dd, although put on the better part of 3 stone while pregnant! Haven't weighed myself yet this time and don't think I want to, hopefully breast feeding will be my friend again when bump arrives.

I think I've got one jumpy baby this time, bump was having a right old party when I went to bed last night. I think his a little tigger! Very diffrent from being pregnant with dd, didn't feel her move until around 26 weeks and never got anything like the kicks and what I can only assume are back flips like I have now, 21 weeks, hopeful I might be a sign he could go head down.

marmite I feel you with the pregnancy brain. I keep doing the right thing but slightly wrong, pin entered with the right digets but slightly mixed up meaning I'm having to deal in cash and take dh to the cash point with me. Keep doing the opposite of what I mean to, like turning off the lights instead of opening the curtains. And forgetting what I went upstairs for...

TriJo · 21/10/2015 14:03

Toni Definitely worth it on both counts - swimming feels good no matter what because you're off your feet and it's handy enough to take it at your own pace (rest every few lengths if you need to, or blast it out if you're feeling good) and depending on the yoga class you should get a really good stretchout anyway and everything will be focused and appropriate for pregnancy.

I'm a little biased because I really, really love swimming though!

Tonideanna123 · 21/10/2015 14:43

Hello Trijo and thankyou for the advice. What do you just do normal swimming not a class ? and I might take yoga as well. Ill do both of them lol

marmitemofo · 21/10/2015 14:48

rhubarb the standard ball is 65cm and that suits most women. I read if you're under 5'4'' the 55cm might be best so bought one (I'm 5'3'') but it was really too small and I got a 65cm one instead. I think the next size up, 75cm, is really only if you are really tall (like 6 ft or above) so you will probably be ok with a 65cm one.

MyNameIsSuz · 21/10/2015 14:51

I'm such a cheapskate, I just bought a basic gym ball from Argos last time! No idea what size. I'm 5'2" and it worked for me though!

RhubarbAndMustard · 21/10/2015 14:51

Brilliant, thanks marmite.
