Beautiful I've gone for the granny apple catchers because:

1 - I've been advised that as things progress "things" get a bit moist in the gusset area.

2 - I'm not hoiking skimpy pants outta my ass. My bum is no longer peachy. It is a suet pudding. It needs covering!

3 - DH laughed at the size of them so I'm wearing them out of utter spite Grin

Ha! Bum is by no means peachy over here! Well, your DH will rue the day he laughed at your sensible knicks, that's for sure...

TheMshipIsBack · 19/10/2015 19:05

Oh now I want granny pants! My regular ones are sooo uncomfortable. My back is fine today, I even cycled DS to nursery then myself to work as usual. Going for a walk tonight to keep things loose - desk jobs are not good for backs!

Congratulations on today's scans and best wishes to all tomorrow!

vroc81 · 19/10/2015 19:20

Lol at all the granny pants, mine are firmly in that camp!! Blush

Congratulations on all the scans today!!

IndomitabIe · 19/10/2015 19:52

Lol at the knicker-talk! I was just thinking the other day "who buys maternity pants?!" But evidently people do!

Personally, I'm not really the "sexy pants" type! And I like mine a size too big normally too, so they should see me through!

But that's just made me think of the post-partum disposable pants. They were awful but very necessary!

Excellent news on the scans today!

Who was the lurker with the late due date? (Sorry, the app doesn't let me look back and my memory is shocking - I should take notes when I'm reading!). My original due date was 25th, but I've been scooted forwards to 23rd. I'm not sure I like being 'at the back' this time. I'm still only 17 weeks, still aaaages till my scan. And I'm pretty sure it'll be just me rattling around talking to myself on here when everyone else has skipped over to the post-natal thread.

4 more days till half term! Grin

Crispylicious · 19/10/2015 20:13

indom mine is the 22nd, so I'll be rattling around with you! STILL 2 weeks to my scan

Congrats ladies on your scans. Is team blue winning?

I too am in the granny pants camp. The bigger the better Grin

Has anyone tried one of those Doppler apps? I downloaded one today. Couldn't find the HB (it says not to use til 30 weeks..) but did hear the baby move on it which was super cute.

BeautifulLiar · 19/10/2015 20:21

Indom I didn't realise you were at the back of the queue! I know how you feel though; I've had two end of month due dates.

I think team blue may well be winning!

Can't wait to get one of those star wraps. Keeping eyes peeled on eBay!

ffauxlivia · 19/10/2015 21:09

Argh I've missed about 10 pages - will have a long catch up! Indom I'm at the back too - 24th March. Feels like soooooo long until my scan on 6th Nov, and I still have hardly any bump and no movement :(

Speaking of bumps, what I do have (more of a general 'thickness' really) is kind of lopsided - sticks out a little bit more to the right! Is this normal?!?

My mum's been staying with us for 2 weeks and when I mentioned I was worried at the lack of bump growth she said, 'Oh but you have grown since I've been here.....but not really your belly, just your hips and thighs'. Gee thanks mum Sad

BeautifulLiar · 19/10/2015 21:31

Ok so I've just won one of those star wrap blankets on eBay and I'm being silly now! I feel really upset that it's a grey one as I wanted a pink one Confused I keep thinking no one will know she's a girl and it's bothering me. Even though our last DD was a surprise so had plenty of unisex stuff...

Paperblank · 19/10/2015 21:44

Oh no honey don't worry - my sisters star wrap was neutral and my niece looked so cute in it and your baby will look gorgeous in hers xx

Hi mango I'm at the back of the queue too, EDD 28th! Know what you mean, but anything could happen, and queue jumping often happens with these things...I jumped ahead of my whole antenatal group when DS arrived 4w early...! My scan isn't until Friday 13th, when is yours? I'm sure I'll be last. I'm sure there'll be a fair few of us rattling around once others have jumped ship so we can keep each other company.

ffaux I think a but of lopsided-ness is normal yes. I can't remember if it was this thread or another somewhere someone posted a pic of a previous pregnancy with a wonky bump that was normal. I still have hardly any bump either at 17 weeks.

Realised today it's only 19 weeks until I start mat leave, and I have a few weeks of annual leave in that time too, and only work part time so by the time I started to add up how many actual days left in work it's not very many - whoop!

BeautifulLiar · 19/10/2015 21:51

Aww thank you Paper! I'm probably just tired and overthinking things. Actually stayed up to watch "Britain's Most Shameless Mum"... brilliant car crash tv!

My bump is always wonky when I lay flat on my back. And ffaux that was pretty insensitive of your mum, bless you xx

tappitytaptap · 19/10/2015 22:23

I'm at the back too - due date of 25th so 18 weeks on Fri, my scan is on the 4th. I have been feeling a few flutters the past few days but think I have just felt a proper little kick!

Paperblank · 19/10/2015 22:30

I did a FB announcement earlier on this evening. It feels really odd because at 41 loads of my school friends are now grandparents and I am one of the oldest mums I know of personally. Interestingly I've had a message from one of my friends who is going down the surrogacy route with his husband and our babies are due at the around same time.

I cried when he told me. He's been desperate to be a dad and he will be fantastic. I wish I could give him a hug but he's pissed off somewhere lovely for a few months!!

Grandparents at 41 Shock

Good luck to your surrogate-ing friend, that's really exciting!

Glad to see I'll have company to no doubt see in April together! I'm planning on working till 25th my due date this time, or as close as possible. (I realise I may regret this decision!) So I'll have maternity-leave-envy too! (Remind me it's my informed decision, I've chosen to be an idiot!)

On bump-watch: my bump feels huge, and looks enormous from my perspective. But is still a little pot-belly to everyone else, apparently. Though I did manage to balance my cereal bowl on it last week! (Not sure how now, must've been sitting a particular way)

ffauxlivia · 19/10/2015 23:46

thanks beautiful, good to know wonky is okay! And yeah my mum always says things like that and it still stings sometimes. Made me more determined than ever to not be like that with my little girl :)

I'll be working until my due date too, indom, health permitting, since I only have 2 weeks' paid leave I have to try and save it for afterwards! So we'll be in it together! My job is pretty stress-free and not too physical so hope it will be okay.

that's amazing paper Now i have a little experience of this pregnancy lark I have a huge respect for surrogates - whether paid or not it's an incredible thing to do for another person

marmitemofo · 20/10/2015 06:45

indom I'm working till near my due date too - 37 weeks. With DD it was 38 weeks! But that was as I could only take 6 months off financially last time. And DP took 3 months leave as he earns less than me. This time he can't take 3 months off so I'm doing 9 months and allowing myself an extra week at the beginning.

On the pants issue - I never wear sexy pants. Fuck that! I used to wear little short pants style which DP was a fan of but gradually moved to normal briefs. I'm not sure they're granny as such but that's prob as I see granny pants as being really high waisted. I've gone a size up in my pants already. With DD I ended up wearing size 14/16/poss 18 pants in later pregnancy (I'm usually a 12) and wearing them under my bump. When DD arrives I didn't bother with disposable pants, just wore my biggest pants and made sure they were black, and just wore them with maternity sanitary towels. Ugh, thinking about it, I'm not looking forward to the 4-5 weeks of bleeding after birth...

Got my scan today yay! We're finding out the sex which I am excited about but also a bit sad as I really want both boy and girl! And getting confirmation of one sex means not having the other! Probably sounds a bit weird but because I don't have a preference it kinda means I want both.

Me624 · 20/10/2015 06:54

Good luck for your scan today marmite. I know exactly what you mean, I'm thrilled to be having a boy but I did have a brief moment of sadness thinking about what I would've done with a girl!

I'm planning to work until 38 weeks. I'm in an office job and feeling great so far so no reason why I shouldn't be able to I don't think.

MyNameIsSuz · 20/10/2015 07:18

Mine's today too marmite! What time is yours?

I'm finishing at 38 weeks this time, did 39 last time and it wasn't really enough - I wanted the time afterwards and had watched friends sit around overdue while their paid leave ticked away and thought I was being sensible. Then he arrived on his due date, I wasn't ready!!

BeautifulLiar · 20/10/2015 07:32

Good luck for today everyone! Marmite you've summed up how I felt - I wanted a boy and a girl, but it could only be one!

BeautifulLiar · 20/10/2015 07:34

Ahh Suz my last arrived on her due date too... i had so many plans for the two weeks after her due date cos I assumed she'd be late! Oops. I'm sure I'll do the same this time though...i always add 14 days to the due date and fill those 14 days with plans so that I'm not sat around wondering why I'm so late!

JustTheOneThanks · 20/10/2015 08:13

Scan in 77 mins Grin

Cannot wait!! Good luck to everyone else today having theirs!! Flowers

Paperblank · 20/10/2015 08:17

Whoop whoop more scans. Hope they go well and you get to see the important things Grin

I keep looking at our pic - I still have moments when I can't believe I'm having a baby.

Is this your first, Paper? :)

Paperblank · 20/10/2015 08:31

Yes it is. We've sort of agreed on just the one but I suspect we'll have another (if I've got anything to do with it we will)
