Hi everyone, I wonder if I could join? My EDD is 2nd March, been very reluctant to say hello up til now (had three previous mcs) but have been lurking. Had my 20 wk scan on Wed last week, and am finally beginning to believe it might actually happen and allowing myself to think about lovely baby things! This will be our first (and potentially our only given the palaver it's taken to get here!)

Currently am being bombarded by messages from my mum asking what kind of co-sleeper I'd like. It's lovely but I feel jolly unprepared for those kind of questions!

Paperblank · 18/10/2015 14:54

Hello Flen Grin course you can join lovey!
Nice to see you

Welcome flen!

We had one of those for ds paper, I hope I can find it in the mess of stuff up in the in-laws loft...

QforCucumber · 18/10/2015 16:06

Hi flen hope you're ok!

Spent today doing shuttle runs to the tip and also went and bought some new underlay for what will be baby's room, we bought our house last year as a new build and the stuff the builder gave us is like paper - the boiler is under the baby's room and every time the hot water or heating came on it was so loud. It's amazing the difference £50 good quality underlay has made.

ThePug · 18/10/2015 16:16

Indom There are some bright unisex baby bits at Boots, e.g. www.boots.com/en/Mini-Club-Baby-Unisex-5-Pack-Bodysuits_1721234/

IndomitabIe · 18/10/2015 16:40

Ooh, thanks ThePug! Love these sleepsuits! All being well at my scan (which is ages away) I'll have to get some of these!

Flen · 18/10/2015 16:53

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I did see some colourful stuff in the Little Bird line in Mothercare www.mothercare.com/newborn/clothing_little_bird_newborn,default,sc.html?view=grid indom...

IndomitabIe · 18/10/2015 17:06

Thanks Flen, that range is cute but costs a bit more than I want to spend on something that will inevitably get puked on, shat on and immediately grown out of! (Call me cynical) Might suggest it if family want to buy stuff though!

TheMshipIsBack · 18/10/2015 17:23

Thanks all. I'm doing ok, just a bit achy. This is my second pregnancy that's got this far (DS is 3) and I don't remember having anything quite so sudden with him. He was a very wiggly baby too.

For bright basics, I recall Tesco having 5 packs of primary colour short sleeve body suits and Sainsburys was really good for bright 3 packs of sleep suits.

Flen · 18/10/2015 17:24

Indom Ha! That seems completely fair, on both counts! (although I notice the rainbow onesie is reduced at the mo....) I'm also planning on raiding ebay for second hand Toby Tiger stuff, I can't be doing with all that grey/white unisex business.

magpiedreams · 18/10/2015 19:01

Welcome flen

Argh at you all buying stuff - so organised! I keep perusing online every now and then and not ever getting any further. Not that we need much, but want to have a few nice new bits at least.

Went to Thomas Land yesterday and just about all the rides said not to ride if pregnant...I really can't see what damage a 10mph crappy carousel done out like fire engines could do to an unborn foetus. Needless to say I ignored their warnings (wouldn't have gone on any of the serious rides, but was there with fearful 5 and 3yos!). Anyone else felt the need to ignore random warnings? Saw a discussion elsewhere about the use of camping chairs being prohibited in pregnancy...wtf?!

Already fed up of heartburn and reduced appetite here, had slag bol for tea and piled my plate high as usual but only got half way through. Hoping this might help curb my excessive chocolate eating binges though, daren't G&T on the scales!

Right, who's being scanned this week? Plenty surely?

ThePug · 18/10/2015 19:56

There are some brilliant autocorrects in your post there, magpie Grin

Bar two sleepsuits I got when in the US a few weeks ago , I haven't bought anything yet. All being well at scan on Friday, I hope to get DH to actually go to a shop to look at the big things like prams & cots in the next few weeks then keep an eye out for sales & offers in the run up to Christmas. I definitely won't be able to resist starting to buy clothes though!

JustTheOneThanks · 18/10/2015 19:56

Got my 20 week scan on Tuesday. Really hoping to find out the sex.

It is so lovely hearing about others successful scans, even the stubborn ones!

Missikat · 18/10/2015 20:15

Hiya Flen, great to have you joining us!

TheMShip, I really hope you're feeling better, that sounds really worrying. I'm pretty sure I would have called the midwife. Make sure you do of you get any repeat of it, just to check things out.

Rosie, I can't believe your naughty baby still won't let you find out their sex, that's crazy. I hope they open their legs next time!

I've been having the same issues with DH and lie ins. He starts quite late during the week so I'm the one who gets up at 7, gets DS ready, drops him at nursery etc (while being quiet and letting DH sleep til past 8 every day) then the same in the evening as DH still at work. He works every other weekend so last weekend he was off and lay in until 9am both days while I, again, got up with DS. This weekend he's been working so has to be up at 7.30 anyway and leaving at 8.30. Despite this, this morning I heard him get up, go to the loo then head downstairs and put match of the day on. DS by this point had started shouting 'mummy' repeatedly. Instead of coming and getting him he stayed downstairs watching TV (and probably outside smoking) for at least 10 mins while DS shouted and well and truly woke me. I then ended up going in, getting him up and bringing him into bed with me until DH appeared. So annoyed! I could have slept for another hour but by that time there was no going back to sleep. When I said to DH before he left that it would have been nice if he'd taken him straight down he said that at least he'd given him breakfast before he left......I only do that every day!!!! Grrrrrrrr! So I feel your pain ladies! It's been well over a month since I've had a lie in but still DH doesn't think about it. I've been feeling a lot more hard done by since I got pregnant for sure.

Who's scan buddies with me on Wednesday? I know there's a few of us. Can't wait but feeling anxious that everything is ok as no movements yet to convince me otherwise.

I bought the cutest snowsuit the other day from TK Maxx (really recommend for cute, good quality baby stuff.) they do only have boys and girls sections but there's plenty of stuff in the boys that could be unisex.

Thought it's time for more bumps, Here's mine from today at 19+5!

March 2016 Babies! Here's thread #5!!
magpiedreams · 18/10/2015 20:18

Hahahaha yes pug, thanks, just read it back! I type in such haste.

Anyone wants my recipe for slag bol just say the word.

Enjoy justtheone, and fx baby behaves and you can see the sex.

Missikat · 18/10/2015 20:25

And Magpie, I've totally taken 'risks' and gone on a mini train, carousel etc since being pregnant!

Paperblank · 18/10/2015 20:33

I'm totally renaming it slag bol. It's far far better than spaghetti bolognese.

OP posts:
RhubarbAndMustard · 18/10/2015 20:35

Magpie I took a risk with a runny egg and a lick of DS's Mr Whippy- does that count?

My flu jab arm is really sore, big red itchy lump on it now. Very irritating as that's another side I can't sleep on so no moving about for me tonight.

I have held off buying anything until after scan tomorrow, so may be hitting the shops late tomorrow pm instead of going back to work like I should.

BeautifulLiar · 18/10/2015 20:39

Ugh I'm with you missikat - I'm so fucking offended by DH nowadays! Annoyingly needy and emotional too... I miss the old me! I was full of energy and would be bored all the time cos I'd done everything in the house. Now i can barely do anything!

My scan is on Wednesday too. I'm weirdly not excited Confused good in a way, as it's made the time go fast, but I want that excitement!! Maybe it's because my 20 week scan in 2012 was so rubbish. Hope they can confirm girl on Wednesday! Can you imagine if it's actually a boy?!

Welcome flen!

Oh and I'm definitely buying that star wrap!! Hello Maggie Simpson.

Oh magpie the menu at yours sounds interesting!

ThePug · 18/10/2015 20:39

I've licked the raw cake mix bowl and had runny eggs. I also cooked a chicken in cider dish the other week so probably consumed some alcohol in that.

BeautifulLiar · 18/10/2015 20:44

In my defence, it was cooked!

I've also been lifting bin bags into the wheelie bin... I swear they're heavier than me! Really need to stop leaving them until they're absolutely full to the brim and leaking bean juice

MyNameIsSuz · 18/10/2015 21:00

Beautiful, cooked brie is fine! They also make pasteurised brie, you can get it in Sainsbury's.

I had a lovely pinky steak last night (not on purpose, dh is seemingly incapable of getting it brown all the way through)

marmitemofo · 18/10/2015 21:29

Welcome flen

Neither me nor DP really do lie ins anymore, we generally just bring DD into bed with us in the morning and let her watch peppa pig on our tablets while we snooze. Terrible parenting! But she doesn't get screen time at any other times really so we convince ourselves it isn't too bad.

Got my scan on Tuesday as well, can't wait! Me and DP have started seriously talking about names again, I think if its a boy then Alexander or Eric are the current front runners. For girls Eleanor or Sadie are our current favourites, DP suggested Juliet which I quite like but prefer Julia though he's not a fan. So will be nice to know the sex so we can firm up our decision! I feel a bit more like we could actually agree on a name now whereas a couple of weeks ago we were completely stuck.

Quite tiring weekend doing the three hour drive to visit DPs brother, SIL and new niece. She was only two weeks old though - so cute! I'd forgotten how chilled out very newborn babies can be she slept loads. Whilst DD ran around causing havoc and making a mess Hmm. Very jealous of DPs SIL though only two weeks postpartum and she looks completely normal, not like she's just had a baby! Not much of a mum tum at all! It took me ages to lose my tum OK I never really did and I'm very aware of how fat I'm getting already. Sigh. Really need to stop comparing myself with other people all the time!

Me624 · 18/10/2015 22:05

I ordered and got half way through a goats cheese salad yesterday before I even remembered that not all goats cheese is ok Blush think that's definitely more of a sin than going on the teacups!

I didn't think I was that fat yet but decided today that I definitely need to buy new pants Sad all mine are digging into my hips and thighs!

hayleycookie · 19/10/2015 09:33

My scan is Wednesday too MissiKat! 10.55 so not too long a wait... Little bit nervous. Kicks aren't as regular as I like, and some I'm not even sure are kicks and not gas haha! Also had some slight pain in my stomach (literally only about 30 seconds worth) which felt like a mix between gas and period pains. It's enough to make me worry, even though I KNOW it's unlikely to have anything wrong as I'm in my 20's and healthy with no definite signs anything is wrong....right? RIGHT?!!? Can't wait til I've seen baby and can put my mind at ease.

Good luck with your scan today Rhubarb!
