First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

Great news Southy must be good to have an explanation. Beckle sorry to hear you're still bleeding. I really hope things get easier for you soon.

I've had my first day of feeling really bloated today, some slight nausea but still not feeling proper sick.

Slightly stressful today because a friend at work has just announced she's pregnant, so people were talking about pregnancy lots. There were a couple of throwaway comments to me along the lines of "you're not pregnant are you?!"- I have some good friends at work and I'm pretty much the last person people would expect to be pregnant I think. I've always been very open and happy to talk about my thoughts on having babies in the past. My poker face was really tested, hope no-one suspected! I really hope I can keep it secret till I've had my 12wk scan!

Mamama31 · 07/10/2015 17:32

Awh Southy that's amazing! I'm sure they understand when your emotional, I was the same! My last scan at 7+1 it was 10.5mm so I'm so excited to see the change and growth as I'll be 9+1 on sat for mine and great to hear you can see so much more!!!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 07/10/2015 17:43

Excellent news Southy, we are DDate buddies then!
Glad you've an explanation for the bleeding.
I've tried getting hold of epau as lots of spotting even though I've been told it's normal just want reassurance again Blush
Hyperemisis in full swing so a bit quiet on the threads
waves to everyone else

royaldub · 07/10/2015 17:51

Great news Southy, Id say that is a huge relief!

Mama, hmm might try Ready Brek, Im finding mornings till lunch the worst, nothing tempts me food wise.

Billy, glad you got your booking in and scan all sorted!

Mollie, I think some of my close work colleagues have guessed, but I made it too easy really, rushing to loo, refusing drink on Fridays (we have staff meetings that include drink lol) when they are offering to pour me a glass of g&t and Im avoiding lunch with them as I cant stomach anything at lunch time, but still wont say anything till after the 5th of November.

Icant - oh no awful you are suffering from Hyperemisis look after yourself

Today wasnt so bad nausea wise, didnt vomit and had slight waves of nausea it seems to be getting worse in afternoons now as opposed to mornings but I managed to clean house and cook a roast dinner as I work from home on a Wednesday was so good not to be on a bus, but I am a little proud of myself for doing something house and dinner wise :)

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 07/10/2015 17:59

Thank you royal is it bad I'm jealous how much you've done compared to me haha? Struggle with cooking and live in a pigsty Blush . Roast sounds lovely and like a very productive day! :)

Mamama31 · 07/10/2015 18:00

Good work Royal!! My nausea is worst from late afternoon through the rest of the evening. I'm great from morning until after lunch then it hits!! Just had chilli and rice....not sure it was a good idea....bluergh!

Southy84 · 07/10/2015 18:15

Thank you all again for being so lovely, mollie I'm quite lucky that I mainly work with men who do not pick up on anything, and if they do say nothing which is making my working life nice :)

Yay lovely to have a dd buddy icant :) sorry you're not feeling well though. I'm like mama and my nausea is definitely worse in the evenings, although this lingering all day now. It's particilarly bad tonight. I'd definitely try and get a scan icant, I know they say these things are normal but it's hard to think that when your head is telling you that you shouldn't be bleeding when pregnant.

mama you'll definitely see a difference in your scan on Saturday, my blob has become more baby shaped and Yours will be even more baby shaped Smile

royal you're like superwoman! I have no energy for any of that!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 07/10/2015 18:21

I will ring them again tomorrow southy
How exciting it looks more like a baby now Smile Grin

BeckleinDisguise · 07/10/2015 18:22

I don't feel too secure at the moment, it is so hard not having a definite scan booked but I can see why they don't want to do another whilst I'm bleeding so much. It could show baby is fine today but it may not be tomorrow. I think if I'm still having sustained heavy bleeding on Monday I will phone the EPAU, the MW I've spoken to in there is very kind, she may agree to scan me again or may just say to wait. If the bleeding stops before then I'll phone again too for reassurance. I know it sounds selfish but I just want things to calm down before I go to France in a couple of weeks, I would hate for something to happen out there, it would be scary and spoil the children's holiday.

Fab news for you southy, you've been through the mill too so I'm glad you know where the bleeding is coming from, that's very reassuring. Was it you that had heavy bleeding and clots early on? I'm sorry, I can't remember but I'm sure someone did? I'm hoping my bleeding is not baby related although they could see nothing to indicate where it was coming from on my scan (other than perhaps the mysteriously growing, shrinking and moving cyst discharging itself), I don't think the scanner in the EPAU is as good as the one in the main scanning department though, it must make the sonographer's job very hard.

Re: flu jab, I think it depends on the blend of strains used in the vaccine what reaction you get, some years I've had fatigue or a horribly sore arm but last year I didn't even get that. It was fine! I've not booked my jab yet this year.

Had a lovely visit from my supervisor at work today, I'm a midday supervisor at my DD's school, and she has agreed I can go back to work tomorrow. It is only an hour and a bit a day and I'll not be lifting tables so I think it will do me good to be around normal again. She says if I need time off for scans or anything else that's fine, they joys of being in casual employment!

BeckleinDisguise · 07/10/2015 18:23

And thank you all so much for your support x

Nicky333 · 07/10/2015 18:31

We had our booking in appointment with the midwife last week and I've got home today to a letter from the hospital I've chosen asking me to go in for a antenatal booking appointment. It says it doesn't include a scan and there's a long form to fill in. Anybody else had a similar thing?

DorotheaHomeAlone · 07/10/2015 18:39

Hey nicky. Doesn't sound right. Booking in is the session with a billion questions ( I had mine in Monday). Is that what you had already? Are the questions on the form similar. If do it must be duplication. Here you book in at about 10 weeks, scan around 12 then nothing til 16 weeks.

Southy84 · 07/10/2015 18:39

beckle that's a good idea waiting Til monday, I just think making you wait Til November is such a long time. hope you are taking things as easy as you can x ive not had any clots, it's been brown spotting and I did have some (sorry tmi) stringy brown stuff a couple of weeks ago. What's weird is at my last scan they weren't sure where bleeding was coming from (but thought they could see a small bleed) yet at this scan it was very clear, that's the only thing that worries me, which is that the bruise must have grown quite a bit since last scan for them to have brushed over it last time but not this time... I know I just have to wait it out though. It's good that they've said they can't see anything around the baby beckle, I have everything crossed for you, and you aren't selfish at all, you've been through so much and I would be thinking the same thing x

royaldub · 07/10/2015 18:49

Thanks ladies, dinner was yummy if I do say so myself!

Ah Icant you have Hyperemisis you are allowed not to cook and not to worry about house work!

Breckle your right to get looked at on Monday and your not been selfish at all about it, do what is right for you and your family. x

Nicky333 · 07/10/2015 19:12

Dorothea, yes, it's the same questions, just more of them. I was told at the booking in appointment that we'd have the 12 week scan, then see the same midwife again at 16 weeks.

I'm going to ring them tomorrow. I hope they've not booked me in for this rather than a scan.

PosterEh · 07/10/2015 20:05

southy when I had my big bleed last pregnancy they couldn't see any reason for the bleeding. I had my 12 week scan a week and a half later and they could see the bleed. Apparently they can't see the fresh blood because there is nothing to distinguish it from everything else but they can see old blood. They told me my body might absorb it or I might have a bit more bleeding as I came out. It must have absorbed it because I didn't bleed again and it was gone by my 20 week scan. Flowers

Brenna24 · 07/10/2015 21:21

OH's boss told him today he wants to extend his 3 year contract to a 5 year one. With a possibility of another 2 years after that but we don't know about that yet. That takes us to at least 3.5 years away. There is still a good chance I will be offered another contract after March of next year, although it has to be externally advertised and interviewed for but my boss wants to keep me. I will be interviewing for it sometime in February or March, so while heavily pregnant but I am still pretty positive. Things are looking good for us for the next few years. It is such a relief. We have celebrated by eating pizza and watching the rugby and GBBO. It has been a lovely relaxing evening.

Southy84 · 07/10/2015 22:24

poster thank you for sharing, you've made me feel a lot better about that now, I feel like my hearts been in my throat all day, even though I saw the baby. Roll on 13th November so I can get my scan. How are you doing?

brenna that's fantastic news, always a relief to have good job news, Wine here have a shloer disguised as a glass of wine to finish off your celebrations :)

PosterEh · 07/10/2015 22:28

I'm just quietly panicking about my lack of sickness and trying to remember that I previously have got it quite late in the first trimester and I'm taking tablets to prevent it which might just be working. I'll probably be scanned when I see my consultant on Friday when I'll be exactly 8 weeks so if I see a heartbeat then I'll be much happier.

Brenna24 · 07/10/2015 22:30

Best of luck on Friday Poster

Thanks Southy Wine I have had hot ribena.

Southy84 · 07/10/2015 22:49

poster mine only started properly a few days ago, even now it's only nausea, and if you're taking tablets that will probably affect it too. That's really good you're seeing your consultant Friday I hope it goes well and you get a scan x

Hot Ribena sounds like a great idea brenna may give that a go!

ParsnipSoup · 08/10/2015 01:34

Have any of you guys tried the winter spiced ribena that's come out this year?! Sooooo good!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 08/10/2015 07:21

Oooh I haven't parsnip but definitely will, sounds lush :)

PeasinPod1 · 08/10/2015 09:19

mmm parsnip love Ribena anyway so this sounds lush, sadly haven't seen it in any shops yet though.

Beckle you must be going out of your mind...having had bleeding earlier on know how horrid it is. but hope Southys amazing scan and the reason for her bleeding might give you some reassurance? If you've been bleeding for a while and so far baby has been fine, its likely it is a dis-connected reason like this perhaps?
Think its bad of them not to give you a scan sooner too, but hope you can relax and take it easy this weekend as much as poss, can you go to the cinema at all? As nothing like a movie for a few hours pure escapism, really recommend Everest (have seen it twice!) Smile

ODog · 08/10/2015 10:59

Hmmm spiced Ribena sounds yum.

beckle - your baby has survived to this point so I see no reason why it won't continue to thrive. You are doing great.

Glad to hear your bleeding is unrelated southy. Must be a relief.

DS has managed to fall face first into a stinging nettle bush this morning whilst trying to pick blackberries. Poor little mite, his face is so red and blotchy. Typically the midwife is coming today for booking in.
