I was thinking the same... very quiet. Have we been deserted?!
I'm not on the fb group but thinking I will have to join if this keeps up Sad

moonshine25 · 31/08/2015 23:10

Hi ladies! I'm still coming on here but had loads of trouble getting on here on my ipad so sorry for the radio silence!

Just thought I'd post quickly to tell you I'm still here - loving the sling chat. I'm worried that I won't be able to use a sling that much as I have a bad back too so thinking pushchair may be used more. Think we have a sling library up here though so going to try that out before we buy.

Anyone else struggling to eat as much at mealtimes? It already feels like I don't have as much room in my stomach!

20 weeks today!

And elvi1, I'm really pleased you can share with us - it really feels like we're a little community doesn't it!

MissM my sister got me a pregnancy journal which I fill in each week with things that have happened, appts etc so I've got that to look back on. I always think I'll do a scrapbook but then never get round to it so I'm not going to fool myself this time. Such a lovely idea though! Have been taking bumpfies every week too but think I'm only starting to see a difference now.

moon I'm getting fuller quicker but I'm so hungry I just keep eating anyway! Bad. Congrats on reaching 20 weeks!!

Received my asos maternity top but the material is quite synthetic and thick... not quite right for summer in australia when heavily pregnant. Going to reorder a similar one in cotton.

Happy spring everyone Flowers

Blackandwhitecat3 · 01/09/2015 01:00

moonshine I have a bad back too, so not sure if I going to be able to use a sling, but like you, I'm planning to use the sling library to have a go.

I'm still on both mn and fb but I'm back to work so won't have anything like as much time to post.

Coffee I have the opposite problem. Everything I've bought seems to be quite thin material, and it's started to turn cold here already. I'm in a bit of a panic about jumpers at the moment!

BeeMyBaby · 01/09/2015 06:14

I'm finding it difficult to post - the old app has been switched off and the new test app has broken for most and stopped allowing anyone to post for the last couple of days so I have to try the mobile or desktop sites which I don't like- anyone else who favoured the apps will be having the same problems, hence why overall mumsnet is much quieter just now. Apparently the new iPhone app will be launched in a couple of weeks do I would imagine that more might post then, in the mean time I was using Facebook.

My only update was my 20 week scan yesterday where no anomalies were found but I had a trainee Sonographer and she was trying to find the various bits which was very goulish to watch. She had a supervisor and at the end the supervisor was desperately trying to find a face (baby was sideways facing down with chin tucked in so difficult to see), which was not pleasant, thankfully mouth and nose were eventually spotted.

Haitch35 · 01/09/2015 07:59

moonshine I'm having to have smaller portions at mealtimes and am feeling full much quicker, but am needing to eat regularly in between meals to keep me going. I am hungry most of the time but only want small amounts/ am not finding food appetising.

I'm also finding the sling chat very useful. We're looking at getting a stretchy wrap, which I think nightfall recommended for a newborn.

Bee glad everything's okay, that sounds like a stressful experience! We have our scan this Thurs - obviously crossing my fingers that they don't find any problems, but mostly I'm looking forward to being able to refer to 'he' or 'she' rather than 'it'!

frozenfairy123 · 01/09/2015 08:27

Hi Ladies, if anyone wants to join the fb group please message me for details. We want to make sure it's a friendly group and so will only be adding people for the next few weeks! Will give you warning before though xxx

coffeenut · 01/09/2015 09:13

thanks fairy. I've just caved and joined but hope to stay mainly on here.

bee how stressful!!! I remember I had a trainee for my scan with DD1. It took FOREVER. Like 1.5 hrs.

b&w I just bought larger sizes in swing style and slouchy jumpers! Luckily they were in fashion (over here anyway). I find summer stuff harder, mainly because I don't like wearing skirts and dresses with two small kids to chase. And I dont like those ruched super clingy tops on me

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/09/2015 11:15

I'm still checking in on this thread! Stressing about no movement today even after the advice I gave Elvi, ironic isn't it we can give great advice to others but not ourselves! I know it's too early to monitor at 22+3 (saw the midwife on Friday and she said you don't monitor until 24) but he was moving and kicking so much thurs-sat, slowed down but still plenty on Sunday then yesterday and today virtually nothing, only the odd little flutter. Just want him to give me a reassuring kick or two!

DotterP · 01/09/2015 11:49

I'm still here - but only use MN Mon-Fri when on my PC at work.

Sling chat really interesting - thanks for the tips. I'm hoping we can get one that will work for both me (5ft) and DH (6ft). Are they easy enough to adjust for the person, or will it be a massive faff each time? My local NCT has a sling library, so I'm thinking of going along at some point to try some, but can you realistically try them without a baby?

tinyme135 · 01/09/2015 12:46

I'm still here too just had a busy weekend and been very low too.

long story short...was told I couldn't have kids naturally and going by my dates I got caught the same week we found out my OH grandad was told he only had till October to live. with that in mind we all think I got pregnant because of him going to pass (for every death there's a new life). I heard yesterday he has deteriorated quite suddenly and if this death for a life thing is true I'm scared this little one will come early. I'm getting myself stressed for no reason but with how everything has come together (his grandad being told he has till October to live around the time I got caughy, me having a boy) it's freaking me out so much.

melonface · 01/09/2015 13:08

I'm here too! 19+6 and getting myself worked up ahead of scan day tomorrow!

tiny sorry to hear about your grandad, I'm sure your little boy will be just fine and come January we'll all be moaning about being overdue!

Is MrsFaz still around? Hope she's ok it's been a while.

tinyme135 · 01/09/2015 13:17

I'm probably worrying over nothing, just everything seems so scary haha. I hope tye little one isn't over due I've heard my mums story about me and my brother and it sounds horrible haha.

fishermanswife1 · 01/09/2015 13:24

Sorry to hear you're worried looking. It may well be that the baby had moved positions, and now it's less obvious. I had the same worry the few days before my last but one scan when I found out he was really low and far to the right (sonographer was digging under my hip!). Just a couple of days later I was feeling more and a follow up scan due to probs at the first showed he had moved further towards the middle. I think position affects it more when they're still small. My consultant even said not to panic too much about patterns and monitoring til 28 weeks! Easier said than done!

Nightfall1983 · 01/09/2015 13:32

I'm still here too, also having issues posting after the app disappeared - I don't mind posting on my phone/ipad browser but find it very glitchy and I only use the laptop occasionally.

20 + 2 and looking forwards to my next scan on Monday. It's been nearly 4 weeks since I've seen my little girl which is the longest I've ever gone! LOL

RE slings, def worth trying, even with a bad back as depending on what the problem is it's often more supportive to use a sling than to carry them in your arms so you might find a sling very useful around the house.

To whoever asked about trying slings in advance, I was going to caution about that; with my first I bought a stretchy sling about 30 weeks and tried to practice a few times but it was awful because it just hugged my bump and I couldn't figure out where baby would go - lol. It is still worth going along to a library, they can show you the different types etc but don't expect them to feel/fit as they will when baby is here.

tinyme135 · 01/09/2015 14:17

so what happened with the app cause I liked using it as I can get away with it at work haha.

lilyb84 · 01/09/2015 15:10

I'm still here! Using the mobile app but it's been so quiet and I've had nothing to update really...

tiny I know it's easy to start reading into things and it is a huge coincidence - and must feel more so given that you were told previously that you couldn't conceive - but it's still just a coincidence. Of course it's a lovely thing to think, that one life is replacing another, but try not to let that thought become an obsession. Remember it's just a thought and not a biological fact!

I've found a sling library nearby which I'm planning on visiting once baby's here and I'm feeling confident to go out and about. We've been donated a couple but I don't know anything about them, whether they're suitable from birth etc, so will need some expert advice once I'm actually in the position to need one Smile

I'm 19+4 today and my scan's two weeks away. Counting down the days... Feeling what I guess must be the baby moving quite a lot now, although it's still sporadic and I'm not even going to start thinking about looking for patterns for at least another few weeks.

The scrap book / diary idea is a lovely one MissMartin and anyone else who's disciplined enough to do one - I know I won't get round to it pre-birth so am just trying to get a picture each week (and will cherry pick the best to use in a collage later on) and will focus my efforts on a baby book once it's here, I think.

I did, however, FINALLY make a list of things we'll need for the baby and bought a moses basket. No idea where I'm going to put it once I've collected it tomorrow but will figure that out then...

tinyme135 · 01/09/2015 15:33

Yeah I know :)

talking about things to get, I've finally persuaded the OH to go baby shopping on my day off on Thursday :D

oh and I'm 21+2

kep1979 · 01/09/2015 17:02

I'm still here too, but don't manage to post on website unless I'm on pc at work - will be glad when the app is up and running again properly!

Elvi1 · 01/09/2015 20:00

Yay - you've been chatty today.

Thanks moonshine - yes good to be out of the closet at last, wish I started posting earlier!

looking my turn to provide you with reassurance: I started feeling movement again the following day I think and feeling reassured again with lots of subtle movement today - no doubt I'll be worrying again by end of week - blimmin roller coaster isn't it!!

Still hoping to abstaining from fb if possible (nothing personal - just don't like fb) but am I the only one now? I may crack though so fairy please let me know when the doors are closing...

On another note, is anyone getting a stitch like pain when walking? I'm a good walker but recently I've been getting a stitch like pain in my right groin area and the right side of my (small-ish) bump. I don't have any pain any other time - just when I walk sometimes and not even when walking particularly fast (compared to my normal speed anyway)...anyone else have experience of this? Thought maybe round ligament pain?

20+5

Wynsey · 01/09/2015 20:34

Ahhh I see!! I thought we had been abandoned on this. Sad I've never used the app - didn't really know there was one. I just go on the mobile internet. Never had any problems.

Anyway, I was having a nosey at the slings & used the Which reviews and they said the Bjorn sling was the best but I'm sure I saw someone say it was terrible! Who knows! I Defo think they are a great idea - and as someone said holding a baby in your arms for a long period can still hurt your back. I suppose I'll just need to see what happens.
My MIL keeps mentioning going to look at prams and saying she'll store it in hers and God forbit it couldn't be in our house Wink I actually cannot wait to pick a pram! It's so exciting!! Hehehe
Dinner time is my least favourite part of the day!! It's a nightmare!! I either don't want to eat cos I just don't feel hungry or I can't decide cos I'm off loads of food! The only sure thing I want to eat is sweets and cakes!! But I know it's so bad but I can't stop! Sad I bought a pack of sweet nectarines tonight - so will try and entice myself with them!!!!
Scans a week tomorrow!! Eeeek!!!

19wks

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/09/2015 20:43

Thanks elvi and fish! Trying not to worry as its still early, plus I've had a few subtle/soft flutters today which is nice, nothing like the massive boots I was getting before though!

And elvi yep I get that, pretty sure it is round ligament pain! I got it really bad in the shower last week think I must've stood up from the loo too quick!!

Nightfall1983 · 01/09/2015 20:53

Wynsey The BabyBjorn and carriers like it (such as Chicco, Mothercare own brand, Mamas & Papas own brand) aren't ergonomic. This means that babies legs dangle rather than being supported and COULD potentially harm their hips. It's unlikely to hurt a healthy baby but most hip problems aren't picked up till baby is older so you might not know. It's also considered to be more comfortable for baby - check out this picture for a humorous look at the difference. This shows a more anatomical view.

Because of the way baby is held, these carriers also tend to be less comfortable for the parent - particularly for parents with back ache/problems. This is personal of course.

BB have brought out a new carrier, I believe it's called the BB ONE which makes great strides towards holding baby ergonomically. It's not as effective as many other carriers but it is a massive improvement. In general, it's still not as supportive/comfortable for the person carrying.

Elvi1 · 01/09/2015 20:59

looking, sounds like baby has got itself in new position so not punching you so hard.

You know what got me anxious about movement....Eastenders! What a harrowing storyline recently (I'm not a soap box queen btw)
